Now 29+5 and still getting steadily bigger! Getting quite sore ribs still, hot water bottle seems to be the only help.

Took OH to IKEA for the first time on Saturday - he loved it!! Haha. Got a mattress for the cot we have been given and some sheets etc but still want to start buying thingssss. Just need this bloomin' house sale to go through so I can officially start "nesting". Got plans for baby's room already.. something like the photo attached.

GTT - nothing has been mentioned to me about this test? What does it involve? I've had blood tests and urine dips but nothin mentioned about GTT...

Lallypopstick · 17/04/2017 09:55

mcnics that's a beautiful nursery, what do you have to sort for it?

I had the GTT, which is a gestational diabetes test because of my BMI at my first appointment - which was just on 30, but then reduced as I lost weight in the first trimester. There are certain risk factors you get asked about at your first midwife appointment and they decide then whether you need it. BMI is one, not sure of the others. Apparently it's fairly rare that people have it - I didn't hear back from the PAU so that means I'm fine. If they thought you were at risk, I'm sure you'd have been told by now.

glitterglitters · 17/04/2017 10:28

Usually if you have sugars in your urine sample two appointments in a row they put you in for it here too. X

changename7 · 17/04/2017 12:56

Hello, is it okay to join the thread? I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and am due the 25th July. I'm having a baby boy and I'm so excited. It's also scary at the same time as I don't really know what to expect. Hope everyone's pregnancies are going great xx

Flappergirl86 · 17/04/2017 13:20

I've got a gtt test tomorrow -bmi of 30.5 and my Dad had diabetes. I hope I pass it -this weekend has been pretty chocolate heavy! Whoops! Here's a few pics of our nursery. I've got some pink glittery glow in the dark stars to put up to make it a bit girlier and we still need a chest of drawers in there but I'm happy with it!

Hi changemyname -first pregnancy here too and I'm having a girl. No idea what I'm doing x

changename7 · 17/04/2017 13:23

@Flappergirl86 I haven't got a clue! Don't really have anyone to talk to in RL so it's hard. But I'm so happy and can't wait for cuddles when he's here. Congratulations with your little girl. I hope everything is good x

mcnics · 17/04/2017 14:27

@Lallypopstick ah ok, I won't worry that I haven't been told about the test then :)

Won't actually need to do too much other than get some nice blinds and paint one walk with the mountains! I've been making some artwork for the walls already (I'm fairly nifty with graphic design) so as soon as we are in I'll get them printed and popped up on the wall and then hopefully it will be done. Will then need to start buying things like nappies etc as have none (obviously not loads, but a starter amount!). I'm just really excited to move in and want the beginning of June to come round now... haha!

Flappergirl86 · 17/04/2017 14:30

Just remember you're built to do this! I think everyone feels like they're motherhood-imposters at first. It helps if you've got experienced people around you but if not there's plenty of support out there through NHS and parenting groups. And of course the glorious Internet!

MamaTT · 17/04/2017 15:15

I'm a bit late to the party but can I join? I'm 27w today with DC3 and I'm due July 17th. Having another girl (already have a girl and a Boy).
This pregnancy is flying and physically I'm fine, but I'm struggling with my changing body. I'm recovering from bulimia which doesn't help. Keeping active and trying to watch my diet as much as I can so I guess that's all I can do. So far my weight gain is about 5lb.
We've bought pretty much all we need except for a few odds and ends but our new house won't be ready until after she arrives so everything is being squished into our bedroom for now.
Very excited! The weeks are flying by now.

Flappergirl86 · 17/04/2017 15:51

I'm due on 18th July mamaTT! First pregnancy but also having a girl. I've never had an eating disorder (I am an over eater but wouldn't be considered ill with it) and I'm struggling with my body changes so I can't imagine how you're feeling, it'll all be worth it though. X

LuciBee231015 · 17/04/2017 16:29

Love the new nursery @flappergirl

30+3 here and have spent most of the day laying around and snoozing which has been lush! Haven't done that in a long time.

I have a 4D scan booked for tomorrow afternoon so looking fw to that, will have to tell them we don't want to know what we are having in case we accidentally see something we don't want to!

I have midwife on friday when I will be 31 weeks, seems to be going rapidly fast now! Going to start on my hospital bag at the end of the month.

My nct classes start on Saturday too, looking fw to that.

Hope everyone is good 😊

MamaTT · 17/04/2017 17:10

@LuciBee let us know how you get on at the NCT class. I'm thinking of booking onto one even though it's my 3rd DC. I never did it with DC1&2.
I'm thinking of booking onto a hypnobirthing course. 1st birth was a lovely homebirth. Very fecking painful as DD was back to back and it was 16 hours but I was calm and relaxed throughout. DS was a very quick (40 mins) birth in hospital (he was distressed) and it was the worst experience of my life. It was so quick and intense that I couldn't compose myself and literally screamed all the way through. I can only describe it as one long contraction. As soon as a contraction stopped, another started. I was in such shock that I refused to hold DS when he came out and I really struggled in the first few weeks with bonding. I'm hoping hypnobirthing might help with some coping techniques if it does happen thick and fast again.

rhodes2015 · 17/04/2017 17:13

Welcome mama and changename

flappergirl nursery is looking lovely!!
Love your mountains idea mcnics
We took advantage of the long weekend to finally finish our nursery (we started it early Feb Grin )

I was discharged from consultant on Thursday (so no more transvaginal scans 🎉) as if she did decided to come early now they wouldn't do anything to stop it as survival rate is good and she's growing well. She was 2lb 13oz on Thursday when I was 28+2.

Enjoy your private scan tomorrow luci

Is anyone else really short of breath? I've had an anemia test that came back clear so presume it's everything cramming up and normal part of pregnancy but god it's so uncomfortable. I see my midwife tomorrow so will mention it again.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

MamaTT · 17/04/2017 17:44

Omg I'm so short of breath! I'm still running 3/4 miles a few times a week but I'm so much slower the last couple of weeks. Lung capacity isn't what it was!
I'm having growth scans every 3 weeks from 28 weeks (next Monday) as DS was born a bit small at full term. I think this one is going to be a big 'Un though!
Is anyone else finding the sofa really uncomfortable? I can't tolerate it at the moment. I'm only comfy if I'm walking or in bed with my gigantic pillow between my legs.

Flappergirl86 · 17/04/2017 18:33

Rhodes does anyone in your family have asthma? I had a kind of dormant asthma which has emerged since I got pregnant! I hope it goes away again. My mum has it quite badly but I've never suffered with it until now. Could be more than just preggo breathlessness.

I also can't get comfy, my 9 foot snake pillow has helped for night times but quite often I can't sit or lie right on the sofa.

luci let us know how your 4d scan goes! I'm in two minds about getting one x

Notyetthere · 17/04/2017 21:05

Cross, Mama and Change welcome to the thread!

Luci hope you get some good views from the scan tomorrow. Hopefully baby isn't only presenting there back.

Flapper lovely nursery. Love the storage.

Mcnics Very creative with those mountains. I bet you are itching to get started. Have you agreed an exchange date yet? You could then start to order things to be delivered to the new home. My DH hates going to ikea. He doesn't like whole concept of the way it is set up and occasionally getting lost and not being able to get out quickly.
*
Rhodes* lol @ nursery since Feb. What was the delay? It took DH and I about 3weeks to do ours but then I have upcycling projects in the shed that have been half done for months so not a saint either.

As for getting breathless, it is when I'm walking uphill from the station to my car. But then I am also carrying a heavy backpack with my work stuff. I can't have it any lighter as I have to take my laptop home everyday just in case I can't go the office the next day, due to discomfort or delayed packed trains going into London, I can still log in from home.

I have also had asthma for the last 2 years but it has been dormant for over 6months after we got rid of our cats (loved them but they made me very ill). I think it came back in 2nd trimester so I found myself using the ventolin more often but now I'm using the clenil(steroid) twice a day, I haven't needed the ventolin. I hope it goes back to dormant after baby is born since the trigger will have removed for over a year now.

Anybody else suffer from hay fever? I have suffered from it for years but this year, no symptoms at all. My theory is that normally ones immune system is the one that attacks the pollen hence all the unpleasant symptoms but now that our immune systems are lowered therefore not attacking the pollen. At least that is one comfort I'm getting from being pregnant.

Mama I wasn't comfortable in our sofa even before I got pregnant. It is only 6yrs old but it has always been rubbish. We are actually having a new one delivered this week as I dreaded spending maternity leave breastfeeding in our rubbish sofa.

Sorry about the bold typing.

OP posts:
Seahawk80 · 17/04/2017 21:41

@Notyetthere yes to the hay fever! I sneeze all the time!

CatRash · 17/04/2017 21:52

Yes to the hayfever not...Or rather lack of!! Usually I'm on daily tablets April-September but haven't had any symptoms yet!! Fingers crossed your theory is correct - it'll be nice to have a year off of hayfever - touch wood!!

In case it does rear it's ugly head though I read on NHS website you can take Lortadine which is what i always used to take anyway as anything else makes me ridiculously sleepy.

CatRash · 17/04/2017 21:58

Loving the pictures Flapper - i love vintage looking text book illustrations! Did you buy the like that or put it together yourself? Might have to do something similar on my woodland theme...

Talking of nurseries - anyone else struggling to get into a child's mindset when decorating?? Everything I like is too sophisticated and grown up - i just don't like cutesy characters and bright colours! I'm worried the nursery is going to look like it's meant for an adult rather than a baby!! Oh well - at least they won't grow out of it anytime soon Grin

rhodes2015 · 17/04/2017 22:40

flapper thanks I didn't actually think of that , my dads side of the family do suffer with asthma to some degree (all 4 of his siblings and his mum but not actually him) will ask my midwife about that tomorrow, I get it even lying in bed.

not Grin me and dh just drag jobs out for weeks months on end, we get all enthusiastic then realise we are crap at decorating or anything DIY Grin

cat I know exactly what you mean, our nursery looked very grown up, it was just the same shade of grey like our bedroom and spare room so I had to go and pink it up a bit but there are still no colourful characters or anything!

Flappergirl86 · 18/04/2017 10:10

catrash I'm the same! I hate kids stuff, it's so visually abrasive. My ideal nursery would be like the nursery in Addams Family Values with gothic octopuses all over the walls and a victorian wooden crib etc but I don't want to raise a psychopath.

The pictures in the picture frames are from 'the animalarium' -it's a book by this gorgeous illustrator but I managed to get a box of postcards of it! Mine were from a book fair but I bet waterstones does them. I've done a sea themed one and a bird themed one -delightful pictures but not too cartoony or lurid.

rhodes my Doc said that pregnancy can make Asthma get loads worse or loads better and it's luck of the draw. Definitely check it out! X

I'll be painting the decorations on the nursery walls today. Exciting times. I'll post pics when it's all done Smile

Also been to the nurse for the whooping cough. I was in and out in less time than it took DH to book in for his asthma review!

Loving the sunshine today - makes me feel proactive, though I'm factoring in rest breaks so I don't get too tired.

CatRash · 18/04/2017 13:37

Rhodes, that's the good thing with grey - it's a lovely blank canvas for other colours! Enjoy pinking it up lol!

Ahhh love them Flapper!! Just found the postcards on Amazon too - so very tempted. Odd question but is there many woodland animals included in the pack?

Haha well at least with those drawings your child is more likely to become a botanist or zoologist rather than a psycho!!

We're I'm going for a vintage woodland theme - we're not finding out the sex so it has to be unisex too!! I have to work an existing massive chest of drawers and a low bookshelf into the design too because (we need the drawers and DH won't let me get rid of the bookshelf). It's going to be a challenge that's for sure!

So far i have a lamp shade (attached) and I bought a framed print (also attached). The print is actually pretty damn cutesy but I felt a strong desire to buy some artwork on Saturday and forced myself to choose something!! Now i kind of wish I'd waited and stolen your idea Flapper!!

Looking forward to the pictures Tinkling!!
