Directed pushing is supposed to be the biggest cause of tearing. I had an episiotomy after an epidural last time and it's been uncomfortable ever since so keen to avoid that!

mightymouse76 · 26/02/2017 21:12

Dream how lovely!
Not quite on the same par, but a visit to my sister last month saw her very devoted dog intensely sniff my bump, then forgo his usual comfy bed to lay outside my door all night 'guarding' me, as my nephew put it. I felt very special indeed Grin

mightymouse76 · 26/02/2017 21:14

Fox do you mean being urged to push when you're not ready?

I'm going to try to EBF this time so not succumbing to temptation!! Xx

MrsJW15 · 26/02/2017 21:16

MrsPage mine is a group class. I think private would be even more expensive.

Barnes some people have told me they enjoyed being pregnant... I assume they are remembering wrongly! The burps are the worst. Plus I don't think I've really worn a comfortable bra for months!

peasandquiet · 26/02/2017 21:35

Sah that's an even better bargain. We have one which is on loan to a pal so my aim is to BF at least till her baby's 1st bday in the autumn. She will give it back if I need it tho.
I think people who tell you they enjoy being pregnant are telling porkies! There are some lovely moments in it but it's all about the squishy prize that we are all aiming for at the end!
Just to chip in on the tearing, I had 2nd degree tearing from a water birth, damage caused by a big baby who had a fist up by his face. Top tip... when the midwife says 'pant don't push'do as she says think damage is worse if it all happens in a rush!
Mighty sorry your not feeling better yet, hope you can get Scan/answers this week.

Sah1987 · 26/02/2017 21:42

And bloody hell that pain sounds awful!! They have got to get you sorted out! Good luck tomorrow Flowers

Teaspoon74 · 26/02/2017 22:01

What a weekend! Headed up to Liverpool to see family late late on Friday eve (after work). Full on weekend of catching up - which left me knackered!

Plus first instance of someone trying to lay on hands. Even when I said "please don't - I don't want you to rub my bump. It makes me feel really uncomfortable and I don't like it". Not sure I could have been much clearer other than shouting "fookoff!" but she still persisted in trying a couple more times. This is a third cousins in her sixties that I've met three times and barely know!!*

MrsJW & Barnes & 100 I've been waiting months for the fabled glow to kick in... given up now! Definitely not enjoying.

Dream & Mighty - love your animal tales!! On a slightly less pleasant note, my devoted pusscat (adopted us when we moved house 6 years ago - was an outdoor stray before that) who sleeps on my head and follows me like a dog has started spraying on my handbag!! Realised the other day when I could smell cat really strongly.... took ten minutes to realise it was me!

Mighty - hope you can get the scan and get it sorted. Yes we're close, but 12 weeks is still a chunk of time.

Rustler* we got our pram package from Winstanley's Pramworld online - great service and really good price. And we were told during our John Lewis nursery consult that Winstanleys are one of the companies they will price match (they have a store in Wigan). Worth checking out online.

Esmes & MrsJW I'm with you re people "offering" advice. Despite saying we'd bought bassinet and other things have one friend who insists on telling me how pointless my purchases are. In those terms. I just nod, and watch her OH try and make her realise/be a bit more self-aware without winding her up too much Smile

MrsPage - get those feet soaking!!

MissMoo - well done in getting the cot built! Our nursery furniture was delivered on Friday so we need to find time to build this week. Having the room ready makes it more real somehow. Like when you're expecting house guests and the beds are made and turned down .... feel like I' doing the pregnancy version of hovering at the front door Blush

KLane - the dad's event sounds great! Do you have to be registered at that hospital, do you know? I'm local (well, Greenwich) but getting care at Tommys in town and don't think they do it.

Badger Sal & Lucie ta for needle tips!

And hola to everyone this lovely miserable Sunday eve. Am nearly home and contemplating an awful night's sleep and a six am alarm. #joy

RasperryInAMelon · 26/02/2017 22:02

Ouch to the episiotomy stories 🙈

I've just found a second hand prep machine on a local FB page for £15

Teaspoon74 · 26/02/2017 22:04

Sorry for last mammoth post Confused

Sah - my instructions were to not take meds during the fasting period but to have everything with me to take once it was done. Did you get an instruction letter through the post?

KLane · 26/02/2017 22:07

Teaspoon Not sure to be honest! I know they asked for my hospital number when DH registered but we didn't have it on hand so never ended up submitting it. So you could always leave that bit out when registering and they'll never know the difference Grin

Sah1987 · 26/02/2017 22:19

Haven't had anything through the post - I expect it's in my pregnancy pack, but that's in the car as I forget it otherwise!!

I'll take with me then xx

Autumnsweater · 27/02/2017 06:44

I enjoyed pregnancy from weeks 16-24. Before that wasn't enjoying the vomiting and after that really haven't enjoyed the SPD. There was a brief window of time were I felt fine and just had a cute little bump and feeling of happiness.. I just want to fast forward to post-birth now!

Rustler74 · 27/02/2017 08:37

Sah take thyroxine with water, not sure about aspirin, but it's less important that aspirin is taken an hour before food.

Sah1987 · 27/02/2017 08:39

Rustler - I brought with me but lady told me not to take until after my second one x

Rustler74 · 27/02/2017 08:43

Sorry lady has no clue. Really. Thyroxine has no digestive value and will be less efficient to take unless you wait another hour before eating, which will make you hangry to say at the least. Who wants a moody pregnant lady in their waiting rooms?

MrsJW15 · 27/02/2017 09:20

I feel like my over bump clothes are starting to get uncomfortable which is frustrating given I still have at least 10 weeks to go! I wore my over bump jeans at the weekend with the band folded down. I'm going to be struggling for work clothes by the end.

Although - a friend texted to say that her waters went this weekend, at 31 weeks, and although everything is fine, she will be in hospital for a while and baby is expected to be induced at 34-36 weeks. So I think I'd prefer the discomfort of being pregnant for a bit longer!

Rustler74 · 27/02/2017 10:06

I agree we should get another thread in... speedy chats ladies!

Made an effort...

ClaireSunflower · 27/02/2017 18:33

We're doing nct classes and they were just over £300. It seems strange how it seems to vary in price depending on the area! We are in south east London near Bromley. I would really like to do Hypnobirthing but I'm not sure if I'll be having a csection yet because of my low lying placenta so i don't want to sign up to some if it's going to be a waste of time and money. I do pregnancy yoga on Saturdays and there was a Hypnobirthing woman that came in to do a meditation a few weeks ago and that was lovely and calming!

savagehk · 27/02/2017 18:36

We've moved to the new thread Claire :) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2865232-May-2017-9-3rd-trimester

When's the scan to see if placenta's moved?

Jugoo28 · 28/02/2017 21:18

Hi everyone, haven't been on here in a while. I've just started washing all the things I want to put in the hospital bag, doing a mix of newborn and 0-3months as I was a monster baby and am worried this one will be as well!

beanturnipandspud · 28/02/2017 21:33
