I have made a mental list of hospital bag stuff and I guess I will start gathering things into a pile after 30ish weeks.
Going off work at Easter so maybe then actually!

Adventuregame · 08/02/2017 16:40

I've made a list on my phone of what should go in the hospital bag - think I got it off the mothercare website or similar. Not sure when I'll pack it tho ? Maybe at 30 weeks for peace of mind ?

Adventuregame · 08/02/2017 16:41

No idea why that automatically put a website link to mothercare ? I didn't ask it to !

savagehk · 08/02/2017 16:43

Mumsnet is trialling 'skimlinks' or something if you use Talk. I can't see a link on the laptop. There's a thread in the 'Site Stuff' section.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2845367-Skimlinks-on-Talk

Adventuregame · 08/02/2017 16:48

Thanks - I just had a read.

teainbed · 08/02/2017 16:49

I can't see the link on the App, is it just when you're on a desktop?

I've bought two holdalls for hospital, they will be used for my DDs swimming or gymnastics afterwards but didn't realise I didn't have a bag that would be suitable.

Sah1987 · 08/02/2017 16:52

Wow what happened!!!! I fell off the last bread - god knows why for 24 hours!! And have 120 posts to read!!

My GTT is on 27th - Monday morning defo not the best day for it!!
But then have a scan on the 1st and consultants and then midwife the week after. I literally see my consultant every 4 weeks then the midwife on a 4 week rotation the week after my consultant. So have 2 weeks with nothing.
Which is exact when all my issues happened! But oh well feeling better today!!

My birth story -
Induced at 37+6 due to protein in urine and high blood pressure. Induced at 8am, second pessary at 4.30pm then no checks at all from midwives.
They moved me from labour ward to post birth ward at 9.30 then at 10.30 one of the midwives came over and said oh your husband will have to go home but I'll check you first.
So my partner got ready to go and the midwife said, oh what do you feel now, I said period pains. And she's said oh that labour you're 2xm dilated
So took me back to labour ward
Got examined by a mean male doctor who said I was only 1cm and was a wimp so I needed a epidural
Had epidural at midnight and at 12.30 I said I needed to push, male consultant laughed at me told me I was a first time mum and told me no.
So I made a trainee check and guess what her head was showing.
8 pushes later she was here.

Labour wasn't actually that bad for me but the staff weren't that supportive and my partner told me he was tired so after I'd bathed and got moved to post labour ward again he left at 3.30am and didn't come back til 1.30pm.

I felt slightly abandoned. I think I'll relish my alone time this time!?

I've forgotten everything else I was going to say.....
Hope everyone's ok!!

savagehk · 08/02/2017 16:54

I can't see it on my app either (android) or on the browser on my phone so perhaps it's properly still in Beta with only a select few seeing it :)

Place marking

Gurtie28 · 08/02/2017 17:25

Hello all! Just place marking - haven't been on here for a while as have been super busy! Finally completed on our new home :) both first time buyers so very exciting.....however now I am stressing that we won't get everything looking "perfect" before baby arrives. Feel a little useless as I am definitely starting to feel the strain of being pregnant and can't help with the DIY as much as I would like Confused
GTT test on Friday, not looking forward to sitting on uncomfortable dr waiting room chairs for 2 hours!

Has anyone else felt their babies getting up really high? My little monkey has been getting up to my ribs recently - some kicks actually make me loose my breath a little Shock

Rustler74 · 08/02/2017 17:37

Hey Gurtie long time no seen...
wondering at which gestation the babies get into their position in which they'll stay for a while. So when are they considered to remain in breech for example? Pretty sure baby is currently back to front but with feet down way too close to my bladder. And even with anterior placenta, I had the European Championship football going on last night!

Rabbitykins55 · 08/02/2017 17:54

Place marking! Thanks for the new thread!

PeachIcedT · 08/02/2017 18:00

Congratulations on the house gurrie! Great news. I'm getting kicks higher up now but not in the ribs... Yet, I'm sure there's plenty of time for that. Sounds uncomfortable.

PeachIcedT · 08/02/2017 18:02

Sorry for my device changing your name gurtie Blush

1004Rise · 08/02/2017 18:05

Right finally caught up (I think) so...

Thanks for the new thread! Welcome newbies!

GTT I wasn't even aware that's what I was having... been told to fast from midnight the night before for the blood test at 10 am the next morning.... nothing about a drink or coming back.... Hmm

Midwife didn't measure me last time, maybe because I was having a panicky day and she was more concerned about calming me down.

I think this baby has been head down almost from the start, I'm constantly getting kicked in the ribs. Definitely feeling the weight of being pregnant now, working away from home this week so walking from hotel to office and out for lunch, it's only 10/15 minutes each way but I'm feeling it! I'm just really tired Blush

Have to go to France for work at the end of the month so taking a suitcase big enough to pack my pillow and food, I'll just have to play the pregnancy card shamelessly to get people to lift it for me!

Not even thinking about packing my hospital bag yet, we have a history of late babies. However I have missed the 100 days to go milestone we're into double figures now May 17th buddies Grin

WishIWasSleeping · 08/02/2017 18:52

Bright - your letter and measurements look a lot like mine! Grin
They said baby's tummy was measuring a week in front.
It was already in my notes for a GTT, presumably for my weight/age.
Sonographer wasn't fussed when he saw it and the midwives that have looked at my pack since haven't even mentioned it.
More bothered with stressing me out about my bp! Smile
Did we get a new thread for birth stories? That'll save me editing my mammoth one, which I am hoping for an almost repeat of!

It would be interesting to track some people's symptoms to be able to laugh at any old wives tales... like heartburn for babies with lots of hair (not the case for me though!)
Haven't managed to read this thread yet, but hope everyone's ok! x

Teaspoon74 · 08/02/2017 18:59

Thanks for the new thread Rasperry!

Autumn - re the GTT-: I was given the time for the "test" after not eating/drinking but only found out about the test two hours later when my obs told me (she read it off the screen). Wasn't mentioned in my original letter. I did get two subsequent appointment letters over a week later for each part, but all felt a bit disorganised. So glad this forum is so knowledgable!!

Badger - fingers crossed the 2nd IV did the trick!!

Gurtie- congrats on the house sale! From where to where?

Peach - I get cramps too. Banana seems to help. Assume it's the potassium but could just be psychological!

MissMoo- good luck with the boiler!

Tea - glad scan went well. Expecting my first and never fail to get teary when I see my little bump moving independently/ moving arms and hands etc. Magical. And ever so slightly really terrifying at the thought of what is to come!!

Barnes & Cox - tbh, I bought some nursing bras from M&S around the 3 month mark to wear in bed and they are so comfy o wear them pretty much all the time now! Don't think I can cope with underwire at the moment and the likelihood of me wearing anything figure hugging ATM is pretty slim (unlike me!!).

Rustler - am in awe!! I've let choir and swimming slip as am too knackered!! Who/what do you sing? London based?

MrsPage - any joy with the pram swap?

Looks the following folk are up for the Excel baby show (including me though unsure re day). Feel free to add on!

Teaspoon i'm going on the Sunday Smile

Rustler74 · 08/02/2017 19:19

Teaspoon I'm mostly in the choir because I can't be on stage performing and dancing in musical theatre. The swimming might happen again tomorrow but I hope the air temperature is a bit warmer as it was rather chilly. We will see what happens if I were to go back to work. I did find out that there's an antenatal aqua class in my gym but I'll have to ask my nice boss if I can do that in April.

Tickyboovicki · 08/02/2017 19:55

Finally caught up on all the chatter (i think!)
adventure my instructions are the same as yours, fast overnight, drink lucozade at home then go in for blood test, must be different in different places?

Exciting/terrifying hearing everyone's birth stories! First timer over here so just not thinking about it too much right now.

Our house is officially under offer! So now a weekend of viewings to try and find somewhere we love!

Sah1987 · 08/02/2017 20:11

Have I missed something about a show/meet up?

rose7120 · 08/02/2017 20:31

Oops, sorry I didn't realise there was the new thread. Thanks to those that posted on the last. It makes sense they're measuring in case anything changes, more than how huge we'll become Grin

Is there a Facebook group for this thread as well?

Good luck to those who are moving! That's like double stress! Shock

ginandcake · 08/02/2017 20:37

Checking in to the new shiny thread.

Had my 28 week appointment today, all went fine and was nice to hear the heartbeat. Measuring slightly bigger than I should be, midwife wasn't that worried and don't need a growth scan yet. Having a big baby is a big fear of mine though as DD2 was on the bigger side.

Birth stories......waters broke with DD1 at 42 weeks, wasn't allowed to go home so was kept on the antenatal ward as I went in to labour. Slow progress and eventually made it to 5cm but then despite hours of contractions did not dilate any further. Ended up on a drip and an epidural and then had a bleed and can't remember a lot after that! Can remember being handed DD1 which was amazing and I know its a cliché but it did make it worth it.

With DD2 went in to labour whilst on the antenatal ward waiting for a bed on the labour ward waiting to get induced. All went quite quickly and she was born in the pool 4 hours later. Much better labour all round.

So I have been 2 weeks with both girls but just avoided iduction both times! Probably won't be packing my bag until at least my due date!
