Bawbles glad all is well with baby. Sometimes baby can be in very awkward position and sonographers having to press quite hard. I had the same on my hip bone.

For the first time last night I felt her moving against my tummy without having to press hard. I think I could have been able to see her movement under the skin without touching.

Anybody else have their belly sticking out enough that it changes the settings on the cooker? Let's just say that my last roast dinner that should have taken 45 mins was reset to 2hrs! I even unknowingly turned on the grille. Grin*. Dh finds the whole thing funny

I went to Mothercare event last Tue, it was OK, good for stalls that you could walk around after the presentation as the first aid stall was very useful - check it out if it's there at your place.
Picked up a goody bag with some vouchers, tissues and decaff tea (why God, why!). Didn't use the vouchers yet but it was useful as an Uppababy representative was there so got the lowdown on the new models coming in in April (if anyone is interested - Cruz only cosmetic / new colours, Vista will be slightly narrower and lighter!).

And just got back from my 20w scan! Well, 19w4 scan, don't need to do another at 20 as I was seeing a specialist consultant in Fetal Medicine Unit. I was obvs really concerned that everything goes well in this pregnancy, and I must say UCLH has excelled at that high-risk support compared to my previous hospital. All is absolutely perfect, our baby boy was moving a lot, is at the top on the scale for size and weighs approx 350g! OMG!

Finally - can you see him waving? :) Bear

rhodes2015 · 23/02/2017 16:21

Congratulations on healthy scans bawbles & nat!

Great scan pic nat! Ours weighed 401g but I had my scan at 20+2 and her abdominal circumference was off the scale.....Kinda scared I'm gonna have a huge baby Grin
Glad to hear they are looking after you and giving you extra support!!

Haa not I'll watch out for that when I'm cooking!!!

mcnics · 23/02/2017 16:32

Just wondering if any of you are having to recruit for your own maternity cover?

I'm a senior manager for a small online retailer (www.ellieellie.co.uk if you're interested!), having been with them for over 3 years (only been going for 4.5 years) and have helped to build the fulfilment side of the business to where it is now. My MD is great, but she is finding it difficult to think about when I won't be here.

I'm in a bit of a strange situation where I was late in knowing that I was pregnant so we have limited time to find someone of the right level to cover me whilst I am on maternity leave and to keep the business pushing forward over our busiest period of the year - Christmas.

Along with this, my co-ordinator (directly below me) is also pregnant, and also found out late, so we have to find not one, but two maternity covers ASAP!

I am getting a bit stressed out about it, as I care so much about my job and want to make sure that the period without myself and my co-ordinator will go smoothly and that our teams isn't too disrupted.

I would really appreciate any help or advise you guys might have.. or if you know of a better thread to post this on perhaps?

LuciBee231015 · 23/02/2017 18:52

We've nearly used up the thread again!

natienka · 23/02/2017 19:15

Hi mcnics, that does sound stressful! Are you using LinkedIn to promote, and a good agency? This can speed things up considerably...
Also, not sure if they operate in your area, but check out DigitalMums!

Lallypopstick · 23/02/2017 19:35

Thanks thumbs - the voucher last for two weeks which is good as we didn't buy anything tonight. You can only use it once though.

Nat I found the first aid to be really unhelpful at our mothercare. It put me off going to any of the other talks as it was a pure sales pitch with no demonstrations or advice. The one at mamas and papas had some really helpful tips and the instructor showed us some things.

There were some stalls too but we didn't go to any of them. Honestly, I was just so drained by the first aid sales pitch that I lost interest pretty quickly.

DrewOB0 · 24/02/2017 08:20

Good morning! What is everyone doing for face cleansing routine? I have the skin of a 14 year old, and pregnancy mask :(

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 24/02/2017 08:56

Morning all! Drew I'm just using water and a flannel at the moment and moisturising after, anything else really dries my skin out.

Has anybody got any clue about when we need to be monitoring movement patterns? 22 weeks today.

Notyetthere · 24/02/2017 09:50

Happy Friday Everyone!

Drew I am still using the usual Tesco's own cucumber face wash. I have noticed though that I am having to keep up my night time moisturizing routine which before I could have skipped a day or two but this time the skin is very dry in morning.

Thumbs I would also be very interested to find out. I am 22 wks tomorrow. At the moment she is kicking at all hours and I don't think she has an established routine. Her movements were very vigorous yesterday almost all day which is quite disconcerting the first time.

LuciBee231015 · 24/02/2017 11:21

Hi ladies, I'm 23 weeks today and the movement monitoring is one of my questions for my midwife appointment next Friday, so I will let you know what she says.

I'm in two minds on whether to actually go the Mothercare event on Tuesday... I can't afford to buy anything else at the moment so not sure I see the point? Anyone think it's worth going anyway?

natienka · 24/02/2017 11:30

Hmm... had such a lovely day yesterday, seeing my bubba and learning everything was fine. today started with throwing up and I have a constant, dull, not particularly painful but irritating ache in the centre of my tummy. What the hell is that?! Doesn't feel like ligament pain, doesn't feel 'stretching' as some other pains. It's like someone poking me with their finger. Which is what my hubby sometimes does, maybe I should use this to scare him into stopping doing that... sigh! Hmm

Lallypopstick · 24/02/2017 11:43

Luci unless you're going to go in the next two weeks (that's how long the discount voucher lasts for), I wouldn't say it was worth it. But others may have had better experiences.

Spindelina · 24/02/2017 12:31

Pretty sure I'm starting to feel movements Smile

Notyetthere · 24/02/2017 14:06

Luci I have decided not to go because of exactly the same reason. I can't afford to buy anything until next pay day so very useful for us. However, someone further up mentioned that the event there was a uppababy rep who mentioned a new version to be released in April. I plan to go there after the new ones and hopefully there will be another event before July.

LuciBee231015 · 24/02/2017 15:58

Yeah... I think I will give it a miss to to be honest

natienka · 25/02/2017 07:33

Morning! Picked up a carrycot for my chosen Cruz last night for peanuts, am so excited. Which makes me wonder - can you recommend best places for used baby equipment online or in London apart from eBay, NCT and gumtree?

Seahawk80 · 25/02/2017 09:53

nat I had those pains -
I think it's just your uterus pushing other things out of the way! I would almost double over sometimes but they were always short and sharp and would disappear the next day.

DrewOB0 · 25/02/2017 10:04

A family member who leaves far away( no mil or DM) has gone crazy and bought EVERYTHING! Including bottles and formula, etc. It's so upsetting :(

CatRash · 25/02/2017 11:02

Oh Drew I'm sorry to hear that. Why would they do that without asking!? Ive seen similar stories on Mumsnet before and I just don't get why people do that. Especially bottles and formula - that's a bit weird isn't it?!!!! Are they expecting baby to come stay with them at some point??

If you want to buy something for the baby why not just ask the parents-to-be what they need or give them money / Mothercare vouchers?!

DrewOB0 · 25/02/2017 12:10

No, I think she sees it at her " substitute " baby. THAnkfully she can't come visit much. She also asked to be a godparent and got put out when I said no christening so she wants to organise her own. She's not Christian!

CatRash · 25/02/2017 15:32

Wow that's crazy!!! At least she's not local and won't be turning up on your doorstep on a daily basis. Is she from your side or your husband's?

My feet and ankles are starting to swell :( I'm quite prone to it anyway but usually heat causes it.

DrewOB0 · 25/02/2017 15:38

My side, she started calling it " my baby " :(

natienka · 25/02/2017 17:35

Drew that's not on, I think I'd ask her to ease up... Unless you don't think she'll be coming over too much...
