Good luck spin I was pretty terrified too. Couldn't quite believe it was ok. Hope that all is fine x

Spindelina · 20/02/2017 13:26

All fine - took a while to get the right view through the great vessels, but got some good pictures.

And it's a boy! DH is going to tell DD after school. She's not going to be happy, but better to let her down now than later Grin.

LuciBee231015 · 20/02/2017 13:49

💙💙congrats!!!

Lallypopstick · 20/02/2017 14:09

Good news Spindelina - hopefully DD will get over her disappontment of having a stinky brother Grin

LuciBee231015 · 20/02/2017 14:42

Has anyone else started thinking about pain relief? I might be a bit early, but I'm considering a TENS machine for contractions. Have only heard mostly good things about them and it's worth a try... I want to try the TENS, then add gas and air if I need to. Then if I really can't cope diamorphine (but I'm scared of feeling out of control and sick), and then would go to epidural after that. But from my reading a lot of women have managed with the TENS and gas and air. Suppose you never know until you are in the situation. But my brain has started ticking away on this subject...

Kitsandkids · 20/02/2017 14:43

My baby's movements are pretty hit and miss too. Sometimes I feel hardly anything all day.

rhodes2015 · 20/02/2017 15:00

Fantastic news spin! 💙

glitterglitters · 20/02/2017 16:10

Hey Luci. A friend of mine went with TENS and she really rated it. With my first I just had gas and air. There was a bit where I got a little bit "omg omg omg" but managed to calm back down. I think, for at least, keeping calm was a big part of pain relief. I went to a midwife led unit to resist the temptation of drugs/painkillers etc but I'd just say don't rule anything out at this point. A lot of people don't get on with gas and air etc.

Notyetthere · 20/02/2017 16:39

Nope I have not thought about pain relief. I might start thinking about it and the available options after the 24wk midwife appointment. At the moment I bought the ikea kallax shelf unit and plan to create a window bench out of it. 1st upholstery project. I think it is a simple one to do.

DrewOB0 · 20/02/2017 16:42

I have period cramps that are fainting - level of painful. I'm struggling to imagine giving birth being more painful than that. Am I optimistic though Hmm

Spindelina · 20/02/2017 16:53

I had two lots of pethidine in early labour with DD. It let me sleep, and then had waters broken and did active labour on gas and air.

DD came out really dozy and didn't feed properly, which was then poorly managed. I'd like to think I'd refuse the pethidine this time round - part of why I had it was the feeling of omg it's already this bad and it's going to get worse! It didn't get worse. This time round I know I can do the 'hard' bit.

So, aiming for TENS / paracetamol / gas and air. But I'll be in a consultant led unit, so we'll see what happens.

LuciBee231015 · 20/02/2017 17:19

Yes that's what I'm afraid of too with the drugs, I don't want baby to be drowsy and it effect feeding.

In an ideal world I would go drug free TENS and gas & air, but guess you don't know until you get there!

I want to discuss it at my midwife appointment, it's next Friday (3rd March)

I think I will be in a midwife led unit as default anyway, it's attached to the hospital and usually any low risk pregnancies/births go there.

Seahawk80 · 20/02/2017 18:17

I'm still in denial about the whole getting the baby out part!

My movements are pretty erratic too although it does tend to get a bit bored mid afternoon at work after lots of sitting and have a kick / roll around!

Kitsandkids · 20/02/2017 19:45

Ha ha, me too Seahawk! Especially as I was 9lbs 8 when I was born and my husband is 6ft 4, so I'm guessing we're going to have a big baby - therefore I don't like to think about the delivery of said baby!

Seahawk80 · 20/02/2017 21:28

Glad I'm not the only one kits 😂

CatRash · 20/02/2017 21:41

Congratulations Spind! Hope your DD doesn't take the news too badly hehe!

Someone we know in the village gave birth today and called their baby the name we'd decided on for a girl so we're back to the drawing board. Still undecided with a boys name too - we're not finding out the sex so need both.

I wouldn't bother thinking if a new name but it's a small village with a small primary school with only about 20-30 per class. Both me and husband have normal but uncommon names so we don't want a too common name for our child.

mcnics · 21/02/2017 09:00

My movements are pretty regular and pretty hefty! Usually just after breakfast, then just after lunch, a little during the evening and then a big session when I'm lying down in bed or on the sofa when it feels like there's a humpback whale having a swish around in there!!

Bit of a gross one, but has anyone else started having some milk leakage? My right boob has been leaking a bit for the last couple of days. Has anyone started using nipple pads or anything? I'm just shoving some loo roll down there at the moment and hoping for the best!!

DrewOB0 · 21/02/2017 09:02

I have a dribble, but not anything that needs pads yet. I'll still get some at weekend in case it gets worse

LuciBee231015 · 21/02/2017 10:03

I haven't had any leaking yet, not that I've noticed anyway.

wildone81 · 21/02/2017 15:37

20 weeks today and finally we have movement! strangest feeling......but rather lovely!

Notyetthere · 21/02/2017 15:51

No leaks here yet too. I do have a very small amount of cream coloured discharge coming out though. It has a texture of oil/moisturising quality. Maybe that's milk Confused

OP posts:
Notyetthere · 21/02/2017 15:54

Wil yes freaky feeling. I still jump at the feeling sometimes. I cant get used to it. No yet anyway.

OP posts:
mcnics · 21/02/2017 18:51

Mine is the same consistency, but it just dribbled out throughout the day and leaves a nice patch on the inside of my bra... it's lovely 🙈 haha!

glitterglitters · 22/02/2017 08:23

It's probably colostrum. It's like a yellow super rich, nutrient packed, super thick precursor to milk that baby has when they are first born.

I think we have sorted our names 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Yay!

I'm going for a midwife led again and hopefully back in the birthing pool. But as long as I don't get poked and prodded too much I'll be happy lol x

LuciBee231015 · 22/02/2017 09:33

I seem to be packing on the pounds now...it's horrible especially when there is nothing you can do about it! I've got fat arms, back fat, the lot! 😱
