Hi All,

I had my 20 week scan yesterday, did anyone else have really bad bump pain the day after?

The whole thing was lovely, baby is all perfect and adorable.

LuciBee231015 · 22/02/2017 12:05

Glad the scan went well littlejay

I didn't have any bump pain but they aren't exactly gentle when doing the scans are they, so it may be a bit delicate from that.

mcnics · 22/02/2017 13:37

Had my anomaly scan today (20 week scan.. but I'm actually 21 weeks today!) and was so amazing to see the little one again - a boy! The sonographer said that he passed his "baby MOT" with flying colours, so we are about to start telling our wider group of friends now (considering we have only been in the know ourselves a little over a month!)

I'm not surprised you have a bit of pain, they really had to prod me about to get the head measurements as he had his head right down in my pelvis. Fingers crossed it will pass soon for you :)

PS, how do I get myself added to the big list of everyone at the top of the post?

LuciBee231015 · 22/02/2017 14:10

mcnis glad the scan went well! A little boy 💙 How exciting!

Are you noticing a little belly yet?

Notyetthere · 22/02/2017 14:30

Little and mcnis glad your scans went well.

Luci I have always had a bit of back fat and arms (size 16) so no change there but I have not gained any weight yet. I have the bump, but my appetite never really came back full wack after 1st tri so I think I eat just enough to get me through the day and grow a baby. TBH at my BMI I am not encouraged to gain that much weight anyway. One of the ladies here in the office mentioned that at my BMI I should not gain more than 7kg. We still have 3rd tri to come! It could all change.

I have just worked out that I have about 15 weeks of work left before maternity leave. Not long to go.

21+4 today.

OP posts:
LuciBee231015 · 22/02/2017 14:51

I've put on a stone!! I started at a size 8 and my belly is now huge. For my BMI they say to gain between 1-5lbs in first tri then 1lb a week for the rest of the pregnancy.

I'm 22+5 today, and I have 16 weeks left at work, I'm working all the way up to the week before my due date. Really doesn't feel like long at all does it. And sounds silly but I still don't feel like I'm going to have a baby at the end of this!

crombanna · 22/02/2017 15:18

Hi everyone glad to hear scans have been good and we are all doing well...

I'm 20+2 today and have my scan next week - that's my local hospital policy argh!! I'm getting nervous, I know it should be fine but, well, I'm an anxious person! Or rather, I'm a natural born worrier.

Physically I hardly feel pregnant sometimes, other times I feel all achy and find myself sighing a lot. Weight wise it depends...About half a stone up and have a little bump at the beginning of the day and definitely at the end. But not PROPERLY yet. I want to be unmistakably pregnant!!

Sounds like those who were smaller have gained more and those who were bigger have gained less. Our bodies know what they are doing!

If I squeeze my boobs I get colostrum. Such a thrill haha. Like you Luci I am still in total denial that there will be a baby at the end. I looked through a mothexare catalogue today and kept thinking "this doesn't apply to me! It's too early!!". Hopefully i won't be saying that at 35 week...

crombanna · 22/02/2017 15:20

Also I love the movements so very much. I just can't believe there is a person making them in there. I had a few days of massive kicks but now she had turned her back I think and is kicking inwards.

Notyetthere · 22/02/2017 17:30

Crom definitely kicks on the inside. Today I think most of the kicks are on the inside as I feel the slight pressure on and off my bladder, like she is jumping and everytime she lands it's on my bladder. Weird feeling. Luci I had initially wanted to work it the end but then I had a moment in the shower on Saturday. I was very tired and all I could think of was to have a very long bath. It then occurred to me that I really want sometime to myself to do what I want even if it's just napping before our lives are turned upside down. The other reason is that I plan to take off the 1st 6 mnths and dh will take off the 2nd 6 months under SPL but we want his SPL to start before Christmas so that he is at home. His company is one of those where their busiest time is December so they are not allowed annual leave at that time. His SPL will start mid December and I will take annual leave during that time so that we have a month off together before I start work again in January 2018.

Hi Everyone ;)

First time poster... well, actually a repeat poster from 2013. Sadly I lost my baby in the last few weeks :( but now we are hoping to grow our family again.

I live in London, I'm due on 16th July and we're expecting a boy (a cheeky private scan confirmed that!) - seems like there's no one on that day yet!

Hope to make new friends here and listen to lots of advice!

natienka · 22/02/2017 17:45

Also, been feeling movements for about 1.5 weeks now... much easier to recognise being pregnant for the second time. Absolutely love it. Took my DH forever last time to feel any movements, so not counting on much for weeks. Also anterior placenta makes it harder as the baby kicks into a cushion, basically.

Don't seem to have gained weight yet, much at least - but actually will check tonight!

Also, one of my fav activities is weekly Sunday photos against our blackboard wall on which I put different writings each week... hoping to make it into a slideshow after baby arrives!

LuciBee231015 · 22/02/2017 18:12

natienka sorry for your loss and welcome back to the world of pregnancy 😊

rhodes2015 · 22/02/2017 18:20

Mnics congrats on finding out your having a boy!!
And welcome nat and congrats on your little boy too!

Luci I also started at size 8 and Ive put a stone on too. hadn't put 1lb up to 14 weeks, so I've put that on in the past 7weeks.

I finish work in 16weeks (I think)
Not.... also hoping for a bit of time to myself before she arrives!! GrinGrin

Good luck with your scan next week Crom!!

Notyetthere · 22/02/2017 18:21

Nat welcome to the group. Sorry about your loss and congratulations! Firstly, have mumsnet take your scan photo down and repost it after cropping. It is currently showing your name and DOB. You never know who else is checking these threads.

OP posts:
natienka · 22/02/2017 18:49

Thank you LuciBee231015, rhodes2015 and Notyetthere :) (and good advice, will look at the scan photo again).

Are you all into buying buggies / furniture / clothes etc yet? We've just decided on Uppababy Cruz after a LONG debate and trying out many, on a number of occasions, and I'm really glad!

Also, in case anyone is looking for a cot (I've got Stokke Sleepi, older model that first has a crib, then converts to cot and bed), just found this which looks like great value reduced for a few days from 450 to 150 www.bounty.com/offers-products/nursery-furniture/cots/O4B-delta-children-urban-cozy-cot

Which threads would you recommend on here for things like shopping, baby essentials, hospital checklist etc?

And finally - since I lost my first son at almost 37 weeks, I'm constantly thinking that I'd want to deliver early even though everything is fine in this pregnancy and my DS2 seems to be really healthy (we went through IVF with genetic testing to eliminate the faulty gene). Is elective induction even an option?? Prob want to avoid CS, and after my first birth (which was as good as it could have been in those horrible circumstances) I want to go natural again...

DrewOB0 · 22/02/2017 19:22

Hello there!
I've started putting on weight in last couple of weeks too, over 2kg! Surely that's not just bad eating habits?

Notyetthere · 22/02/2017 19:50

Nat just noticed that dob is not displayed. You might be alright there.

OP posts:
Notyetthere · 22/02/2017 20:54

Nat we have started to buy things as we want to spread the cost till due date.

We have decided on the buggy - uppababy vista with a maxi-cosi car seat. My PIL have offered to buy it girl us closer to due date. It also took us a long time decide it but after a visit to mothercare, M&Ps and John Lewis and testing them out.

DH has started working on the nursery. We have also bought a chest of drawers for the nursery from ikea but that's still in its flat pack state till nursery is ready. We will buy the cotbed next month after payday. This is it www.babysecurity.co.uk/cosatto-story-3-in-1-cotbed-drawer-cot-top-changer-owlet.html?gclid=CPD8kdLDpNICFdTNGwodhW0EwA. I would like a chair in the nursery but it's a box room with a built in wardrobe so we have to see after if there is space for the chair.

We have open plan downstairs so we plan to have a play area or somewhere to store all toys with a softer floor (maybe rubber mats) just off the living area. We have bought a shelf unit with fabric boxes for storage from ikea and plan to upholster for extra seating. Hope for something like this photo but on a smaller scale.

There were lots of threads on shopping but they were more focused on the Christmas sales. If you do search on here for hospital bag, lots of threads come up.

As for the delivery, I have not thought that far and this being my first, I really don't know much about which options might be available to you.

I'm off to a Mothercare Expectant Parent event tomorrow. Anyone else been / going?

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 22/02/2017 22:14

Lally I went to one yesterday, it was okay, 10% off voucher in the goody bag was useful for ordering our pushchair.

Bawbles · 23/02/2017 07:15

20 week scan yesterday, all went well and baby is developing well.

Really lovely to see baby yawning and sucking his/her thumb.

I'm getting movements all the time now, lots of wriggling.

Had a bit of pain last night but think from she went heavy with scanner as baby's head was deep in pelvis.

LuciBee231015 · 23/02/2017 09:05

Glad the scan was ok bawbles

I'm going to the Mothercare event next Tuesday. Not sure that I will buy anything but want to go anyway

Lallypopstick · 23/02/2017 09:57

Thanks thumbs - which pushchair did you go for? Also was the discount just for that evening? I think we're planning on going back with OH's mum at the weekend.

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 23/02/2017 10:17

Lally we've gone for the new mothercare Journey, it's great for the price! Im not sure on the length of the discount as we used the voucher on the night I didn't check, but it was in voucher form so I think you should be able to use it for a bit of time after the event.
