How is he today dreaming been thinking about you both x

KitKat1985 · 23/02/2017 11:29

Oh Babydreaming sorry just caught up. Your poor baby DS. How is he doing today? Well done you for trusting your instincts and taking him to the hospital. Sending love to you all.

So far we've managed 3 nights in cot-bed here, and it's going well. Baby KitKat is a bit older than some babies here as she's now 15 weeks, so moses basket was getting cramped as she's about 13lb now and likes to stretch out when asleep. Mentioned to DH last night about selling the moses' basket since we're not using it now, and he said 'better hope we don't want a third then'. He's made comments like this before. Most notably at Boxing day dinner with his family when an extended family member asked if we were going to have a third, to which we simultaneously replied, except I replied with an emphatic 'no' and he said 'maybe'. Shock It was a tad awkward in front of everyone. Yet if I ask him straight out if he wants a 3rd baby he just says he's happy with two.

UpyourDaisy - I didn't find the 12 week jabs as bad as the 8 week ones. There's only the oral rotavirus vaccine and one injection, and because they don't have the Men B vaccine at this set of jabs you don't have to give calpol. I found baby KitKat was quite sleepy the next day after the 8 week vaccinations it was lovely but didn't really have any obvious side effects after the 12 week ones.

SolomanDaisy · 23/02/2017 22:28

babydreaming, how awful, I hope it's going well and you're home soon.

My DD had no reaction to the 8 week injections but was ill enough for us to take her to the Dr after the 12 week ones. He told us that reactions are more common at 12 weeks.

Babydreaming · 24/02/2017 20:07

Just a quick update..he was really poorly and drowsy and stopped feeding completely so they had to put a feeding tube down into his stomach..so traumatic for both of us!

He seems to be on the mend today though, feeding more and more alert.

Toughest few days of my life! I was genuinely scared he wasn't going to recover from it at points. So scary how babies can deteriorate so quickly!

Yep it was from a uti that then spread through his bloodstream!

KitKat1985 · 24/02/2017 20:22

Oh Babydreaming that sounds horrific. Your poor DS. I'm so pleased he is improving though. Flowers

Lovewatchingrainfall · 24/02/2017 21:39

Babydreaming that sounds so scary for you both. Glad to hear he is a bit better today and yes it is scary how quickly they can go downhill

Upyourdaisy · 24/02/2017 21:58

I hope he recovers quickly. Have they done checks to see if there's any reason he had a uti? I know they're common but in boys it's a lot less common & he's also very young. Dd2 had an ultrasound on her kidneys after 2 uti's in one year. Stay strong lovely, you're doing great 🌟 x

Thinking of you both dreaming

Can't believe it, already!

Daisy that is a lovely photo. Time is running away so fast.
Little one will be 10weeks on Monday.

Does anyone else have a baby who loves to be sick she will throw up a good ounce of milk after every feed but sometimes not till at least at hour afterwards. She is on 4oz every 3/4 hours. She has her last feed at half 7/8 and then her night feed about 3am but only takes 3oz,
I don't think its reflux as I have had a reflux baby so not sure what it is. Weight wise she is ok at 8weeks weighed 5.55kg

Hope everyone else is okay.

Babydreaming · 26/02/2017 14:37

Yes he has a problem with his left kidney, it was discovered on my antenatal scans unfortunately. He is really prone to getting UTIs so takes trimethoprim every day...but still got a really bad one regardless! They are doing more tests on his kidney and may need to operate on it eventually...but are waiting to see if it improves at the moment!

Rainfall maybe your baby is having too much milk in one go? Maybe break it down into smaller amounts more frequently? I feed on demand but Henry never manages more than 3ozs in one feed! He's very tiny though...11 weeks and only 5kg! I wish he would take more milk but he gets really uncomfortable after drinking, possibly reflux?

StubbleTurnips · 28/02/2017 12:36

I keep losing this thread! Hope all are ok.

BabyD sounds like you've had some scares Flowers

Love yep, we've got this. If T2 doesn't bring all his wind up (and he's a bugger for holding onto it) he'll puke but not for ages after. You could wind him for a full hour and he'd still do it. They eventually grow out of it.

All ok here, 8w jabs tomorrow so I'm making DH hold him while they do it. T2 also has to go for more hearing tests as he isn't responding on one side and doesn't startle to noise.

Kit I've been getting rid of baby things as soon as they're done. I had a feint moment of maybe number 3 would be nice as T2 is a lovely baby to have at home so placid and calm....

Then I remembered DD was a massive PITA still hasn't slept through in her entire life. So, That thought soon vanished! Grin

Stubble my lo has his 1st jabs tomorrow I am not looking forward to it! Got the calpol at the ready Smile

KitKat1985 · 28/02/2017 15:17

Baby how is your DS doing now?

Stubble we're very similar. DD1 was a nightmare baby and rarely sleeps through even now (2 and a half) yet DD2 is a dream baby in comparsion! Sometimes I get 'oh a third might be nice' twang, but it quickly passes!

StubbleTurnips · 28/02/2017 15:39

Bloody hell stripey I've not got baby calpol in! Thanks for reminding me, I'll get to he pharmacy on the nursery run later 👍🏻

You feel for them and yourself don't you kit, DD has proper nightmares now so has started sleep walking too trying to find us Sad

One day they'll sleep!

OP posts:
StubbleTurnips · 01/03/2017 10:45

How were the jabs stripey?

DS screamed with the injections! They do it with 2 nurses at our practice, so they get 2 at once in each leg and then a follow up jab a couple of seconds later. Was good with the liquid though, given him some preventative calpol and he's asleep now.

stripeyorangesocks71 · 01/03/2017 11:52

Hi stubble, glad your lo has settled to sleep now after the jabs. I like the two jabs at once approach, they didn't do that here.
Baby stripey did well, (he was braver than me! I got quite upset) he cried a bit and then seemed ok after the oral immunisation. Now we are home and settled on the sofa having cuddles.

Upyourdaisy · 01/03/2017 11:59

Hope both of your babies don't have too many problems. We have 12 week vaccinations next week, they shouldn't be as bad though as there's no men.b this time.

How's your little boy doing dreaming?

Babydreaming · 01/03/2017 19:27

He's doing okay although still doesn't have much of an appetite! I'm really worried about his weight gain.

He's 12 weeks on Thursday and just over 5kg. He wasn't eating whilst in hospital and he's still not got much of an appetite. I think he only takes about 500ml a day...enough to sustain but not to put on weight! I don't want to force him though...I'm hoping he gets more of an appetite soon!

KitKat1985 · 06/03/2017 20:31

This thread has gone very quiet. Sad

Is your DS eating any better now Baby?

Upyourdaisy · 07/03/2017 14:10

I know kitkat this is officially still an antenatal thread, it should be postnatal!!
