Babydreaming we found gavisgon made it worse not better plus it can lead to constipation. Just have to make sure baby's mattress is raised slightly. My DD was more comfy sat in her chair or her car seat. Reflux is awful and I feel your pain.

Bigfam · 30/01/2017 19:56

Gaviscon never worked for Dd3 either, we ended up switching to anti-reflux formula which was great.
Romy's smothered in newborn acne 😩
8 weeks vaccinations tomorrow.

NurseRosie · 30/01/2017 23:30

We tried Gaviscon and wasnt sure whether it worked or not, tried again and still dont think its been working so given up. Gripe water helos with the wind but we get these moments were lo just looks in pain in his little face. Poor fella. Lo is now 11 weeks and well over his hospital stay. Sleeping is improving so there is hope guys. Hes even stopped crying at bath time and kicks about like Michael Flatley. He does however hate baby massage. I feel like tomorrow's d day as its weigh day. Last week only 1oz gain but he gad been poorly and had jabs to fx for a better gain tomorrow.

NurseRosie · 30/01/2017 23:31

Good luck with the jabs bigfam x

Londonmamabychance · 30/01/2017 23:42

Today I remembered the magic trick: put baby to sleep outside in he buggy. He slept for two hors straight, woke for a feedback and then back down for two hours, all wrapped up in snowsuit and under an outdoor wrap thing. Can't believe I forgot about it till now!

Good luck with jabs bigfam and popski and Dartmoor, DD watches almost the whole CBeebies bedtime hour from 6-7 at the moment! When I picked her up in nursery today she said "Abney and Teal" Blush

Still arguing loads with DH, feel having a second child Ian harder on our relationship that anything else. DD is okay and my sleep isn't even too bad. But we just seem to piss each other off constantly

sueevone · 31/01/2017 04:41

thisisbonkers I'm still here and on the Fb group, it's been a great help and is going strong. If you want to join let me know and I'll add you.

Bigfam · 31/01/2017 05:10

Thanks everyone, hope the weigh in goes well nurse glad your lo is doing well after his hospital stay too.
Romy would have slept through tonight after going down at 10pm but dd2 (who's 5) has wet the bed and is saying it hurts when she pees, what are the bloody chances she has an infection at the same time as Dd3 😲 nightmare! So could potentially have two on antibiotics and one with post-vaccination fever/grumpiness...

SolomanDaisy · 31/01/2017 08:33

Good luck with the injections bigfam. DD had no reaction to her first ones but had a bad time after her second ones last week. We ended up taking her to see the out of hours gp as her temperature got really high.

Hope the weigh in goes well nurse. DD has had a massive growth spurt and she's now on the fifth centile for both weight and length, it's so nice to see her being on the charts! She's even outgrown her tiny baby clothes.

meisje, well done for getting through the first cast going on, it must have been scary. I hope it goes well!

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/01/2017 09:49

Thanks for the empathy pops and london we go to groups and do stuff at home but days like today - grey and raining - it's so hard to get going which means Peter Rabbit fest Blush meeting up with some of DS1's friends at a soft play place this morning though so at least he'll get some running around and fun!

DS2 is doing well on the whole, 8 weeks now, but yesterday evening was hell, 2hrs of crying, got himself into a right state and it was over bedtime so DS1 didn't get to sleep til gone 9, up at 6 still, god knows how he does it!! DS2 is a little chunk, about 13lb now!

Thisisbonkers · 31/01/2017 09:53

BabyBonkers isn't a happy boy 😥 I don't know if it's colic, reflux, a cold or what. He's a bit whingy whilst feeding now, shall try some gripe water and hope he sleeps in the car on the way to meet friends. Poor little mite.

I hope everyone manages a good day despite injections and colic and other such troubles.

Mejse · 31/01/2017 14:36

DS usually cluster feeds of an evening but then sleeps really well during the night. Over the weekend he slept 7 hours one night and 5 the other. He is out growing the swaddler we got him and he can break out if we use a blanket so last night I tried to put him down without anything to see if we need to buy a new one. Big mistake! I now have even more sympathy for those of you who are up all night.

The health visitor weighed him last week and at 3 weeks he was 11lb9oz. He managed to roll onto his back during tummy time yesterday, which really surprised me.

Cast number 2 went on today and I'm impressed with the progress already. He really didn't care when they cut the old cast off but was a bit upset when they manipulated his foot. I'll add a before and after photo.

Good luck with the injections and weigh in bigfam and nurse. I hope everyone else is doing well and that your dc get over any illnesses soon

Bigfam · 31/01/2017 15:07

Wow mej that is impressive! Romy is quite literally inconsolable after her vaccinations, she's crying really high pitched and even when taking her bottle which NEVER happens 😢 it's horrible!

KitKat1985 · 31/01/2017 18:49

Oh dear BigFam. Has she had calopol? Poor love.

DD1 has an awful ear infection and is really suffering with it bless her. And DD2 has had a snuffly nose for about 6 weeks now! I hate this time of year for never-ending bugs and viruses!

Bigfam · 31/01/2017 19:07

She's a bit better now kitkat thanks, after a 2nd dose of calpol. Dd2 is now on the same antibiotics (trimethoprim) as Dd3 as both have uti's. Ear infections are horrible! Hope your dd is better soon and doesn't suffer too much. I'm also not a fan of all the bugs this time of year, I wonder what it's like to have a summer baby?!

Thisisbonkers · 31/01/2017 19:09

That's a massive difference mejse

Oh bigfam, the poor love 🙁

barkingtreefrog · 31/01/2017 20:24

Hello, not really posted since DD was born as the website isn't working well on my phone - text lags about two minutes behind what I'm typing!
However, she doesn't sleep so need to attempt to come back to MN for some middle of the night entertainment as Facebook can only keep me occupied for so long!
Will read back and catch up tonight. Smile

Londonmamabychance · 31/01/2017 21:13

Well done witj tje second cast, Mejse!

Bigfam poor youneith so many ill little ones! Hope they get better soon, don't know how you manage with so many kids! I can hardly manage two.

Today at 6 week check up both doctor and hv said DS probably has reflux or Ian colicky after hearing me describe how much he cries and witnessing it in person as he had meltdown there. Sigh. He is forever fidgeting and unsettled and crying. He wants to be carried 24/7. I survive with slings and putting him to sleep outside in the fresh air, but sometimes his constant crying really gets to me Sad

Londonmamabychance · 31/01/2017 21:17

Btw the hv said he hadn't put down in the notes that I put DS to sleep in his buggy outside fit day time naps, as it would be seen as a health and safety concern! Shock I had to explain to him and that it's normal in Scandinavia. When I didn't do it so much with my first baby all my relatives were like oh no, she doesn't get enough fresh air! Grin curios why people here would think it's bad to put babies to sleep outside, if they're all wrapped up warm and in a safe suave within hearing distance?

TinyTickler · 31/01/2017 23:05

Bigfam my little one has suffered with some fairly bad pimples on her face which have cleared really well by applying breast milk. May be worth a shot on Romys skin if you're breastfeeding. X

NurseRosie · 31/01/2017 23:11

London if you feel happy and think having baby outside is safe go for it. Surelynits no different to taking them out in the pram?

NurseRosie · 31/01/2017 23:20

Any exlerience with gaviscon? Lo was started on it in hospital but i stopped it as unsure if it mafe any difference. Hv wanted us to try again but after 2 days with no change wants me to try again for longer, she said 2 days wasn't long enough. I hate it. We are breastfeeding so before i start i have to mix 2 sachets, each with 5 ml if cooled boiled water and the mix them together with another 10ml. I then have to start feeding and take ds off boob half way through which makes him scream to force the 20mls down him with a syringe and then try to get him to latch again to finish his feed. Its such a faff, hard to give and upsetting for lo and i dint think its even working. Hv suggested today when i complained that if giving a bottle you can just put the sachets in the milk so why didnt i simply just express all of my milk all day and give him feeds with a bottle. Erm because i will literally either be feeding or expressing all day and night??? Anyway, sorry, rant over. Any advice will be much appreciated x ps not such why it posts my posts twice.

barkingtreefrog · 01/02/2017 03:30

nurserosie when I gave DD gaviscon I mixed it with a bit of expressed milk and gave it in a bottle, but didn't do it for every feed. Her reflux seems to be worse in the evenings so just did it then.

London unless you're leaving the baby outside on the pavement I don't see the issue?!

Mejse · 01/02/2017 07:18

london I'm living in Denmark so I'm now used to seeing babies left outside for naps, including outside on the pavement. The first time I saw a pram outside and realised there was a baby inside I was really shocked and DH just laughed at me and was like "who would want to steal a baby". I think Scandinavians are a lot more laid back, there are lots of things that are the norm here that would be considered health and safety concerns in the UK. There was a Danish woman arrested for neglect in America for leaving her baby outside a coffee shop but here there is always at least one pram with a baby in it outside each coffee shop.

I wouldn't worry about what people think while at home but you probably wouldn't be able to leave him to nap in public.

SolomanDaisy · 01/02/2017 08:16

People in the Netherlands don't leave their babies outside, but they do leave them home alone sleeping! There are a few people at DS's school with babies the same age and I'm often the only one who bothers to bring mine to school pick up (at 2:30, so lots of babies having naps).

Wow, that's amazing progress mejse.

bigamy, my DD has had baby acne too, it seems to have cleared up now without me doing anything.
