Well it seems DH may have sorted the problem Am a bit worried cos I can hear drilling.... hope he doesn't drill any pipes or wires!!!

muminabigtumi · 17/02/2007 17:20

Oh god nuttygirl....I would be in a panic - what is it with men and DIY. Phil has been like a dog with two Dcks for the past hour or so cleaning the flags with his new jet washer sigh*...

I've decided to leave all my planting till tomorrow - couldn't get in garden for the power washer crazed hubbie - told him not much point washing the patio today if I am going to plant pots as will get soil everywhere - I nipped to the shop for some soil and when I got back he was in full swing.....

Been searching for cot top changers online - all the cheaper ones are sold out and the others are over £50!....think I definatley need to get one as can't be hunched over bed changing baby in middle of night with c sec stitches...then again was going to buy a chest of drawers so may just put change mat on top of that?!

Right off for a nap or else I won't make it to my meal out tonight - have a lovely evening ladies!
xxx

Emmymummy · 17/02/2007 17:29

Just thought I'd post to say I've dug out and washed a load of Em's old newborn clothes today. They're all still hanging out on the washing line looking all cute and tiny and pink! Awwww. They are sooo little. Almost made me blub digging through them all and remembering when she wore them.

And also, hurrah, have got the cot back today! So the baby now has some clothes and somewhere to sleep. Finally feel I'm getting somewhere!

mammyjo · 17/02/2007 17:29

Just a thought MIABT. How high is your cot mattress? The one I had for ds was up on the highest setting for months and I used to change him on there just using a change mat with very little bending. Didnt need to drop the cot sides for a good while.

CaptainDippy · 17/02/2007 18:01

Hello - Pancake Party was a great laugh - DD1 really didn't get the idea of tackling an obstacle course while holding a lemon (one of the games / races) - I told her to run through the ball pit and promptly threw the lemon into it and ran back to the beginning - Halarious!! Lucky I am not a bit competative! Did a pancake tossing race against another member of the NCT committee who is preggers (she's is due on March 7th but same size as me!!) Everyone was absolutely wetting themselves watching us trying to run (waddle), flip pancakes and hold our uterus' in all at the same time - Must try and post a photo - really was a classic moment!! DD2 was sooooo cute when they sang sleeping bunnies at song time - can't BELIEVE she won't be "my baby" for my much longer ......

Sob.

Nutty - hope your hubby managed to fix the shower!!!!!? Good for you on the new car - we had a three dor for DD1 first few months and it was a complete nightmare!!

Awwww @ Em's clothes on the line EM - >

Best go - SIL coming over tonight and hosue a bombsite....

Emmymummy · 17/02/2007 18:08

CD - pancake party sounds hilarious, please, please post a photo of you running! We love pancakes here, and being preggers am going to make the most of having an excuse to scoff loads this year....

8andahalfweeksandcounting · 17/02/2007 19:44

Hello everyone - am back!

Had to go in to hospital with bags and everything - was monitored and ercivs checked - all fine thank goodness - 32 weeks a bit too early for me. Quite pleased had half packed bag, found friend willing to look after two boys and locate dh on golf course and get him home to take me to hosp! aarrgghhh - think may need more forward planning for the real thing than previously thought!

Pancakes - yummy

Bought myself some drawstring cargo trousers from M&S afterwards - meant to be for afterwards but they fit round now!

Must go - will catch up tomorrow! xoxoxoxxo

8andahalfweeksandcounting · 17/02/2007 19:45

ercvis meaning cervix!!

Bugmum · 17/02/2007 19:58

Evening all,
Just a flying visit (as ever).

CD Good to 'see' you up and about

GirtWapbElly - I think you can have a show and that can re-seal, in a perfectly harmless manner. Not related to hindwaters, of course, about which I know nothing.

MIAM See you are having a spinal. Thought you might like to know that I had one for my emergency C-section last time (nearly posted 'last night' !!), after my epidural didn't take properly, and it really was an absolute blanket pain blocker.

Muslins - Someone was asking about them the other day; I thought of another use: if they are very large ones, they are great as a light swaddle, perfect for hotter weather or during the day to bf

YvieE · 17/02/2007 20:18

EllieK - hope you get well soon, love the new thread title by the way
CD - good to see you back, we were worried about you
AngeG - Well i got a card, would have liked a nice bunch of flowers like you got though!
GMM - sorry to hear about your breathing scare - glad you are feeling better
SOSPL - your heartburn sounds awful, i only have it very mildly and even thank makes me feel like I'm going to puke up fire.
Emmymummy, runny and Katy44 - echo your thoughts about work. My position was supposed to be backfilled but now looks as if it is going to be divided up between the rest of the team. On the one hand i think this is a big mistake, I am a manager getting a manger's salary (which ain't great - but that's a whole different thread) and they want the rest of the team members to take on more responsibility for no more money? On the other hand if this arrangement goes well it might be a case of "Yvonne who" at the end of my maternity leave, regardless of the amount of time and effort I have put in over the last two years (which is a helluv alot)
Finally ladies (jumping on the emotional bandwagon) i don't know what I would have done without you all - There have been questions that I would have been too afraid to ask anybody else but you guys - in fact your lot are better than google .
As a first timer the support has been great and I do hope it continues after the LOs are born.

YvieE · 17/02/2007 20:24

MIABT- meant to say babiesrus have a cot top changer for £26.99, online they have run out of the antique pine and only have it in cream or white - what colour is your cot? Also I have found out that when they run out online, it doesn't mean they don't have it instore - do you have a toysrus near you?

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 17/02/2007 21:02

Gkad you are feelin better CD.hOpe the rest of you are too.The breathlessness does sound scary..hope all is well.
Took ds to see Charlotte's Web today..either we are softees or everyone else in the cinema is hard cos we blubbed at the end[ds is 7]we came out of the cinema with tear streaked faces..everyone else looked untouched!
My spd is excrutiating today..i have been hobbling around at home doing stuff whilst weeping [mad].
Baby active which i am so grateful for and feel hugely reassured by that.
Hope all you lovely ladies have a great rest of the weekend.Off to catch up again]smile]

8andahalfweeksandcounting · 17/02/2007 21:26

Hello all - I have some vouchers for babiesrus if anyone wants them.

waspElly - hope you are okay and no more valentines leftovers YAK! If it was a show could take a few weeks to actually wear away - was eaves dropping quite effectively int he pre-labour suite today! Mine was a one off mucus evacuation with ds2 on the day I went into labour.

The rather loud speaking lady next to me today had life threatening asthma (several visits to intensive care) - not due to pg, panic attacks, was 4th child, had been bleeding on on and off for a week, had sharp stabbing pains, was on steroids and anti-depressants, wanted to have a section , was planning to breastfeed and may have had a show - but the internal - which heard every bit of - was fine and she wasn't dilating. She must have been completely oblivious to how loudly she spoke esp on her mobile phone which I nearly took and threw out the window myself!

Anyway...

Have just won 2 small nature babies stuffables on ebay which quite pleased about and the friend who looked after the boys today also gave me more large nappies - so am doing quite well!

Off to bed v soon! 8 weeks tomorrow - may convert to days 54??

8andahalfweeksandcounting · 17/02/2007 21:28

new name for bump is Ernie (already have Stan and Ted) - sometimes sounds really cool, sometimes not!

8andahalfweeksandcounting · 17/02/2007 21:42

No sign of anyone for 40 minutes

Will go to bed then!.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

CaptainDippy · 17/02/2007 23:37

Boo!! What am I doing up at this unGodly hour!!!? Just finished SIL's Wedding Invitations - Phew!! One less thing on my "To Do" list ......

Glad all is ok 8and1/2weeks sweetie - woman in next bed sounds grrrrr!

Baby "pushing" a lot tonight - v.uncomfortable - hoping it'll stop by the time I get in bed!!

Awwww, Ernie is a cute wee name for your Bump - Ours is just "Bump" really!!

Oooooh, ooooh, hot off the press - we have a new possible girlie name!!! Still loving Phoebe; but DH and I both really like Florence - Opinions please!!!? Florrie - Sooo cute!!

Katy44 · 18/02/2007 08:08

8andahalf - sorry to hear about your scare, glad everything is back to normal and you've had a practice run
CD - I like Florence and Florrie a lot, would you also be happy if it's shortened to Flo?

Emmymummy · 18/02/2007 09:23

Yvie - It drives me nuts that people's work think it's OK to get everyone else to cover when someone's on maternity leave. Not only is it unfair on everyone else, but you're right, it does make you feel like they can quite easily manage without you. I will have a serious sense of humour failure if this happens with my job as I know how many hours I put in a week, and there is no-one else in my office who could cover for me. My boss is adamant that he's going to get someone in to cover my role whilst I'm off, I just hope he doesn't get overuled by someone higher up.

CD - love Florence too. Isn't Florrie one of the Fimbles? (don't know if that would put you off). Also like Flora (or would if it wasn't a type of marge), and Fleur. Am erring on the side of Sophie at the moment and trying to get Emily on side with this one too so Mark gets bullied into accepting this name (he wants Megan).

Emmymummy · 18/02/2007 09:25

Dooby - we're going to see Charlotte's Web this afternoon. Thanks for the warning as I weep at anything (even when not pregnant), so will take my hankie .

maveta · 18/02/2007 09:28

glad everything is ok 8weeks, or is it 54 days now??! Just a quick nappy question (ebay is luring me in...) does anyone know how come there are so few non aplix totsbots on there? Seems like all the bamboozles that are on offer are aplix.

Anyway, back to preparation for today´s feast.. catch up with you all properly later on xx

Bugmum · 18/02/2007 11:56

CD Loving the name Florence (was the name of one of my grandmothers).

Bugmum · 18/02/2007 12:28

8andahalf Forgot to say, really, really like Ernie; think it goes better with your existing two than the other (very nice) names you have mentioned

CaptainDippy · 18/02/2007 12:44

Hello - Poor DD2 is screaming her poor wee head off as she's waaaaay over-tired and needed to be put to bed about half-an-hour ago. Hope she goes off soon, poor thing.

Thank you for your endorsements of the name Florence - It is really, really growing on DH and I. I am not keen on Flo though Katy44 - like Florrie lots more ....

Think Sophie is lovely Emmy and goes with Emily so nicely! Hope you get your way!! Did you enjoy Charlotte's Web??

Hope everyone has good Sundays - I will as soon as DD2 decides to give up and go to sleep .....

CaptainDippy · 18/02/2007 13:02

She's alseep .... daddy came home and gave her "doggy" (silly mummy) ......

liath · 18/02/2007 13:07

Maveta - there's problem with non-aplix bamboozles. After a few washes the nappy nippa stops gripping into the material properly so I think totsbots no longer make them without aplix. I have some non-aplix ones and it's a right pain, have to use nappy pins instead.

Another gorgeous sunny day here, very spring-like. Just been to the zoo with dd and am trying to pursuade her to have a nap without much success....

8andahalf - glad you got sorted out. Have to confess to a having lost bladder control on occasion this time & thinking is that my waters or am I incontinent?
