Wow can't believe I'm here 😁 I had a look, but couldn't see any other threads. Hopefully I won't be alone.

This will be our second baby. DS is 3.... 4 in january. EDD should be about 2nd August I think.

Hope I'm not alone for too long!

Thanks for the pelvic floor reminder!! Perhaps I should set a reminder on my phone.

I downloaded the NHS app 'Squeezy' for pelvic floor reminders. I used to do them 3x a day (really need to start again).
I've woke up this morning feeling pregnant for the first time! Feel like I've got a hangover and my boobs are sore. Should be 5 weeks today! It's made me feel a little more positive.
How's everyone else feeling?

Blink1982 · 27/11/2016 08:27

I'm not feeling pregnant. I'm actually scared something will happen and I won't know till the 1st scan. I'm not missing my evening reward & relax drink though, so I'm happy I'm not an alcoholic 😂

I'm off to find the squeeze app!

£2.99??! I'll set an alarm ;)

ClaraLane · 27/11/2016 08:55

I've got the Squeezy app too, keep meaning to set it up again however I've got stress incontinence which I'll have to have an operation to fix after I've had children so pelvic floor exercises don't make a huge amount of difference for me unfortunately.

Sparklyuggs · 27/11/2016 10:03

I wasn't too bad yesterday and managed to do some uni work (I'm a mature student) but feeling horrendous today. Got the doc tomorrow and my DH is being amazing at looking after me. Starting to all sink in a bit more that next summer they'll be a baby Smile luckily I finish my degree in June, if I'd got pregnant earlier I'd be in trouble as it isn't one you can defer. How is everyone else doing?

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 27/11/2016 10:25

blink that made me laugh out loud!
I'm scared of that too, a similar thing happened with my SIL where she had some bleeding but thought it was normal as had it with her DD then found out at the 12 week scan she had a MM. Just awful. I've booked an early scan as I've had spotting & unbelievably paranoid! I'm sure that's a rare occurance but when it's close to home it hits.

I've got the docs on Tues. Quite looking forward to seeing the midwife for my booking in app. It's such an exciting time (yet nerve wracking) I can't wait to feel baby kick again. No better feeling in the world!

Blink1982 · 27/11/2016 14:28

The kicking has never really gonna way for me 😁 first there's air floating through your insides which feel like the early movements and then I have ds kicking the back of my chair when I'm driving which is strangely similar to the kicks later on!

OP posts:
LetMeHaveABloodyName · 27/11/2016 20:26

Haha yes I have had many weird occasions in the past where I've 'felt' kicking & thought I was pregnant!

Largemelons · 27/11/2016 20:43

Shock it appears I'm pregnant!
Thought AF was starting yesterday, had some blood on wiping. Then nothing else.
This is exactly what happened with dd4 so I did a test this afternoon and got a faint pos.
Only CD 24 but my cycles are very short and between 21-26 days usually so about 4 weeks.
Remarkably this is DC6.
I have 2 grown up children at uni from previous rel. Then 3 DDs aged 13, 5 and 6.
I'm still in shock. I'm 37 and thought it would take ages!

Largemelons · 27/11/2016 20:45

Sparkly - I had my last 2 DDs in between 2nd and final year. Went back part when dd4 was 3 months old. Graduated 3 years ago which was the proudest moment if my life!
You'll be fine.

Blink1982 · 27/11/2016 20:52

Congratz largemelons! there's not many of us yet. Looking forward to the journey!

Congrats and welcome to Largemelons!

MochaChocaChino · 27/11/2016 21:25

Congrats yolo and largemelons!

Thanks for the reminder on pelvic floors ladies will get setting an alarm for that too :)

Still haven't told anyone other than DH. Managed to survive first Xmas do yesterday. I think the ladies in the group have guessed but were polite enough not to ask so all good. Roll on next weekend - another do another "driving" excuse!

Largemelons · 27/11/2016 21:38

I've got my work do on Friday 😬
I'm still feeling apprehensive as I've had 3 losses at around 5 weeks so I'll wait until I'm past that stage before I get less anxious.
My Sil is pregnant with her 3rd and due in June. If this goes ok we'll have children in the same school year which will be exciting as our DC are very close and spend a lot of time together.
Who has 6 kids though? Shock
We can afford it and are in a much better position than we ever were with the others so I'm delighted but I know what people will say. They already think I'm mad!
Looking forward to getting to know you all anyway!

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 27/11/2016 22:39

Largemelons it's nobody's business. If I could afford to I would never stop having children! You know what your limits are.

On Saturday I've got a Christmas do from my previous office, with people who won't have seen me for two or theee weeks. I'm pretty sure some of them will know. I was drinking prosecco at my leaving do and will be drinking sparkling water at the Christmas party. A woman in my new office knows me but hasn't seen me in more than 18 months and one of the first things she said was to tell me I looked pale and ask if I was alright. I'll be covering myself in bronzer for the next few months. Wink

Sparklyuggs · 28/11/2016 07:16

It's so tricky to hide not drinking isn't it? I have a close friend's wedding in less than 2 weeks, going to get my best friend to help get the rest of our friends off the scent- they're lovely but a bit oblivious sometimes and will definitely go 'but WHY aren't you drinking?' over and over. Christmas day is just DH and I so no hiding needed then at least!

I'd love to have a large family Smile

Largemelons · 28/11/2016 07:30

The best way is just to drink lemonde or Diet Coke and tell people it's vodka too.
That's what I'm doing on Friday!

thisismee · 28/11/2016 07:46

Congratulations and hello to any newbies!

I was out for a close friend catch up drinks on Saturday and I got caught out in 2.5 seconds. They looked at my drink and gave me that look and all come running to hug me! Was very sweet! I really don't mind them knowing and it turned out one of the girls is pregnant also. 3 weeks ahead.

Still not feeling pregnant. Although I do feel tired most of the time

Thanks for the reminder for the pelvic floor squeezes. I think every time I'm on MN I shall do them Grin

scatterbrainedlass · 28/11/2016 09:06

Room for another? Unexpectedly got a BFP (or a faint one at least) yesterday morning, am estimating due date as early August! Have a nearly 13 month old son, cheeky as anything and full of mischief, so I'm going to have my hands full!! Excited, but it's not quite sunk in yet, we're waiting until 12 week scan before we tell anyone, but that won't be til January....

Blink1982 · 28/11/2016 18:28

Congrats scatterbrained remember to do your pelvic floor!

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 28/11/2016 18:34

Congrats and welcome scattered!

I told my manager today. I was backed into a corner when I got an email this morning about a meeting on Monday... at the exact same time as my mw appointment. I had been planning to ask for the morning as annual leave but they wouldn't approve it if I had something planned at work. Or they'd ask questions. Anyway she told me I only got paid time off for the appointment but the travel time needs to be annual leave or lieu time. I don't think that's right but I don't know how to argue. I read the policies on our intranet and they weren't clear. I'm working back the time from my appointments last week and it means I won't get home until almost 8 and ds will already be in bed. I can't do this all the time. I'm exhausted, my head hurts, and I feel sick. Sad

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 28/11/2016 18:35

Congrats everyone!
I told my boss today, didn't see the point in keeping it a secret as if I do m/c I'd be telling him anyway (I'm covering a new role at the moment & if I go off sick I'll be really leaving them in the shit - but obviously can't be helped if something bad does happen).
He was really happy for me. I have a great team. My works do is the 10th so I think I'll just tell them then (there's around 10 of us)... they'll know straight away & I don't have the energy to pretend!
So tired today. I'm off tomorrow with DS & seeing my friend & her newborn so I'm looking forward to it Smile

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 28/11/2016 18:40

OH socially that sounds rubbish. I bet you are exhausted!
I posted my message just as you posted yours. You know what to do next time you have an appt?! Sick day Wink in all seriousness - I would check with HR re the policies.

AlpacaRabbit · 28/11/2016 19:16

I have only just found out too and it all seem a bit unreal at the moment. So have been quietly lurking...

However, I was shocked by what happened to Socially. How horrid.

You may like to make your boss aware of the following information from TUC

worksmart.org.uk/work-rights/family-friendly-work/maternity-leave/can-i-take-time-work-attend-antenatal-classes

I hope this should clarify the situation for them regarding travelling time... Good luck. :)
