Gosh 1b3! That sounds scary. I would be a teary wreck!

liath - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! glad to hear dh has redeemed himself a bit! Birthing balls are fab!

Hey Ellie - love the snowman!

10weeksandcounting · 08/02/2007 22:03

Sorry 1B3 did chuckle when read about getting stuck! When I get up I can hardly walk and half shuffle/hobble for a bit.

Ellie - fancy something like Augustus or montgomery or something regal like

Back to child genius!

maveta · 08/02/2007 22:05

okay ellie, have popped over to that thread and left a wee note, hope it helps her.

1b3 - you poor thing! Hope your dignity has now been restored

Had our first antenatal class tonight with our ptrs and really good, lovely male midwife giving the chat. Seems we´ve come in on the tailend of the cycle so we´ve got to do the whole newborn bit before we get back to birth! eek. Hope we manage to hear the relevant talks before it happens!! He said we should ´just´ make it so not sure..

On a better note, he did say that from about 7/8 months I shouldn´t have to worry about toxomplasmosis anymore so I can eat all the raw meat I want. YAY! I love cured meats like serrano ham, chorizo etc etc and it has killed me not being allowed to eat it. If I could cartwheel I would!

Got to dash, night girls! xx

10weeksandcounting · 08/02/2007 22:41

Child genius was totally mind boggling - truly fascinating! Not sure if happy or sad for the kids.

Have just had yummy sticky toffee pudding... time for sleep now ...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 08/02/2007 22:43

night then x (i'm here lurking still )

Easier to catch up on this time . I had planned to join in with chat today but nursery phoned at 8am this morning saying that actually DS2 couldn't go back until tomorrow !! Also felt all flu-ey again today and DH away for night so haven't turned computer on until now... Nevermind, DS2 is going tomorrow instead so I will have my precious day off!

EllieK - psml at your stance on foreplay - do you know, I'm exactly the same, and I think your Stephen put it very well..... . Well.... I say I'm exactly the same... not at the moment, alas. On the whole I'm in the "Don't come near me" camp, but every now and then I remember how much fun it used to be.....

1B3 - how terrifying! I remember having something like that when I put my back out years ago when I was a single mum and finally (after many hours) having the wit to send DS1 (aged only about 4!) out for help (we lived in a little courtyard so he didn't need to go on the road to get a neighbour). There is nothing worse than that helpless, trapped feeling, especially if you have a LO running around at the same time.

10weeks - Also saw most of child genius. That couple with the 3 or 4 kids who gave them all the presents for the 11 Plus were seriously odd - I reckon the ones with the most "normal" parents have got to be the best off IYSWIM. It's fascinating to see that the brighter the kids are, often the more difficult it is to warm to the poor little blighters. They seem to have that adolescent "arrogance" already in place - you can imagine why they would have trouble with friends of their own age.

Have the bed to myself tonight and am going to try and make it before midnight. Night night to all!

maveta · 09/02/2007 09:40

Urgh. Finally dragged my arse out of bed at 7am this morning when I realised I wasn't going to get back to sleep. I know that's not so early but if you bear in mind I don't normally get up til 8.30am and don't have to leave the house til 9.30am, it's a travesty! Got up, had a lovely bath and pottered around, then grabbed the car to come into work and had another hypoglycemic attack! Luckily was about to pass a turn off on the motorway for a big hypermarket so just pulled off and sat in the carpark for 20mins.

But that's the second time it's happened while I've been driving and it comes on too fast for anything like just eating some chocolate etc. to take effect. I'm sworn off driving for the rest of the pregnancy, it's just too scary. This will affect my job a bit but I'm not sure what else I can do.

claricebean · 09/02/2007 09:46

Morning all,

Has your snow all gone?

1B3 - that sounds v painful. Glad your DH rescued you in the end.

Liath - Happy Birthday for yesterday.

Ellie - have never really looked at the gluten free products out here, as we don't need them, but sounds like maveta's done the job

Maveta - my obstetrician told me that you can eat serrano ham etc if you freeze it for 48 hours first as that's as good a bacteria killer as cooking. So I always have a stock in the freezer

WO - sounds like you need to do some serious looking after yourself now the media circus has died down a bit .

Has anyone been visiting the due in Feb thread? Lovely to hear all the new births. So excited that'll be us soon. I've never been over my EDD so am hoping this one will follow her siblings' pattern, which means a max of 7 weeks and 5 days to go!!!

I was a bad mummy yesterday as I just couldn't face taking DD1 to dancing . We watched Shrek instead (including small snooze for me ). Oh well, DS's chicken pox spots have dried up so we are officially a non infectious family again! We've passed the strain on to at least 3 people at school though all the way from Blighty. And DH home in 8 days

claricebean · 09/02/2007 09:51

Maveta x'd post with you. I get bad hypo attacks too. Often I don't even notice them coming on. I seem to go from hunger to feeling sick very quickly. Dh is forever asking whether I need to eat something (when I've just bitten his head off about something trivial - they make me REALLY irritable). Not much advice, except a good carb breakfast. I'm eating porridge every day even though I'm not a huge fan, mostly to get my calcium levels up because I'm not really a milk person. Anyway, enough rambling................

maveta · 09/02/2007 09:51

claricebean - he mentioned that last night aswell!! that no one mentioned this before! It has killed me not being able to eat these things..do you know if the freezing thing applies to fuet aswell?

maveta · 09/02/2007 09:55

claricebean - yeah I think I must normally get my blood sugar level dropping to a lesser effect as I can get very moody/ teary/ emotional when I get hungry. I've just never really paid it much attention and it's definitely much more exaggerated now I'm pregnant. My dh also knows before me that I'm hungry and need to eat!

I normally have porridge but this morning I had weetabix. But I had 3 so it still should have done the job. It's fine, I'm happy to just not drive, when it happens when I'm on the train or whatever it's much more controllable.

claricebean · 09/02/2007 10:03

Yes, sounds like giving driving a miss could be your answer,

Fuet???

maveta · 09/02/2007 10:35

Um..cured sausage? About a foot long and as thick as a normal sausage covered in white paper normally?

CaptainDippy · 09/02/2007 10:48

Morning all!! How are we all?? I'm tired!!!!!! DD1 did a poo on the potty this morning, which was incredible - Hurrah!! Stickers and Kisses all round!!

1B3 - at getting stuck, poor you!! [hugs]

that appointment for SPD went well and homebirth looks poss - great stuff!

All stil manic in DippyLand - Soooo much to doooooo!! Argh!!

claricebean · 09/02/2007 10:58

Maveta, like chorizo or salchichon? Is it a Mallorcan thing? I've never heard of it. I guess it would work just the same if it's cured meat.

Hey CD. Congrats on the poo meets potty.

oooggs · 09/02/2007 11:03

1B3 - when is you 40 week due date and did you say before that you are having a c section? If yes when is this booked for? Sorry for being so nosey, but don't 'know' anyone else pg with twins!

We haven't found out the sexes either as too worried they could be wrong. They are non identical so could be one of each.

maveta · 09/02/2007 11:14

Yay CD - great potty news!

Claricebean, I think it must be mallorquin then..like salchichon I guess. Not as thick or spicy as chorizo but basically the same idea. Love it!

CaptainDippy · 09/02/2007 11:15

I know - I was very proud (even though she has been flippin' potty trained for 6 months now and we shouldn't be having these problems!! )

Are you hoping for a natural birth oooogs btw??

weeonion · 09/02/2007 11:24

morning folks - no more snow here

maveta - your cd is in the post my dear. i listened to mine on the commuting bus through this morning - very mellow to be listening to it whilst looking out at a snowy sunrise!!

geordiemacminx · 09/02/2007 11:33

Morning ladies...been lurking all morning.. trying to resist the temptation to post as I have loads to do at work... especially since after today I only have8 days left!!!

Think we are going to have snow up here at the weekend, still I am planning on having a weekend in the house, doing nursery and baking!!!

Hope everyone is well!!

maveta · 09/02/2007 11:37

Thanks WO, look forward to getting it. Might be good to have it by the bed and listen to it on these early mornings I am having, see if it relaxes me enough to go back to sleep..

x

weeonion · 09/02/2007 11:38

CaptainDippy · 09/02/2007 11:51

Geordie - Get on with your work, or I won't send you any Fire engine Cake .....

bigandround · 09/02/2007 11:55

Morning all. (I am mammyjo, just thought my new name kind of sums me up at the moment!)

Snow had all but gone this morning but is now back and has been snowing heavily for the last couple of hours. It is starting to settle too and the roads look pretty grim.

Ds a bit better today. No school though. Wasnt planning to send him but its closed again today anyway! He is busy now talking to PC Plum on his walkie talkie!

Congrats to your dd CD. Bless her!!

Have a good day all. I am not going anywhere in the heavy snow so have a day of dvds and games to look forward to with ds!

geordiemacminx · 09/02/2007 11:55

Well now we have FINALLY got rid of the bunk beds its empty!!

Yeah, got the paint, Crown low fume type normal paint.. in something lime... it sounds really bright but its not that wild!! Gonna accessorise with teddy's wash day stuff from mothercare, which is cream but has a bit of colour in it.. off at lunch to get the curtains hopefully. We havent ordered the furniture yet.. murano range from m&p, although we are getting it from pram centre or from a retailer on ebay - £400 for cotbed wardrobe and drawers/unit. Gonna wait until I finish work to order it as dont really want to have to take time off for it to be delivered..

Did have thoughts about having stuff in the house but, well although I'm not religious I do have faith so its daft to think of it like that!!

Sorry that was probably far too much info!
