I've made the trek across

Katy44 · 08/02/2007 16:10

Hi,
I've had stabbing pains in my stomach most of the day. I rang the midwife this morning after I'd only had them for half an hour or so and was told they were nothing to worry about and it's very common as the baby moves or makes its way into the pelvis (isn't it a bit early for that!!). What do you all think - is that true? I'm still hvaing them but nowhere near as bad as this morning.
Anyway, she asked if I'd taken any painkillers so I said no, she said "well if they're not bad enough for you to take painkillers they're obviously not that bad"
I pointed out that I wasn't ringing to complain about the pain I was ringing to find out if I should be worried about the baby! Not only that, but I always thought you should avoid paracetemol in pregnancy?!

Sorry to come on so early in this new thread with a rant bu

AngeG · 08/02/2007 16:13

Thanks for the new thread EllieK, the other one was getting a bit long. Loved the photo.

We've got no snow here, a couple of miles away they had a bit so I'm very

Hello GMM

The tiredness seems to be really hitting me at the moment and i'm getting breathless doing nothing...oh the joys!

Just got back from the doctors with Jake, he's got impetigo up his nose, we've got cream to put up his nose...needless to say that has gone down (or should I say up!!)really well. To be honest I'm glad he's going to my parents tonight and they can struggle with it

Sorry I can't remember anything from the other thread.

Love to you all xx

AngeG · 08/02/2007 16:21

Sorry Katy xposts with you.

mw is probably right tbh. Although I think she could have been more polite and understanding. I have stabbing pains somedays and do put it down to baby moving about.

How many weeks are you? Babies do move in and out of the pelvis at this stage I think espeically for first timers.

You can take paracetamol in pg but most prefer not to.

If you are still worried ring the mw again and insist that someone see's you if only to out your mind at rest

Try not to worry

Katy44 · 08/02/2007 16:26

Thanks AngeG.
If it's normal then that's fine, I was just irritated that she seemed to think I was calling to complain about the pain rather than because I wanted to know if the baby was OK!
And I did take paracetemol, as she told me to take two and call back if it hadn't had any effect in an hour. WOuld have preferred not to
at the cream up the nose!!

I am in constant pain with my lovely 2, bump is very sore and can feel all the different baby body parts although I don't know who they belong to, getting a bit cramped in there now I reckon.

Grrr at your MW katy44 i think they should be a bit more polite given that they are the experts and you are not.

Love the picture and title ellie

Katy44 · 08/02/2007 16:36

posted on the old thread again - what is it with me!

Have just looked at the pic Ellie - that's an impressive snowman from what looks like very little snow!

eca · 08/02/2007 16:41

thanks for new thread!

katy - i think you did the right thing calling mw. Can't believe she was so rude to you.
sometimes my bump really aches when baby is having a funny wriggle around.

ellie - ugh! poor boy getting extra gunk up his nose!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 08/02/2007 16:41

Fab, a new thread and I love the title!

Katy, what an old bag your mw sounds - such a lovely bedside manner. Paracetamol is about the only painkiller they say you can take while pg, although not too often. Tbh, I find it as useful as a chocolate teapot!

Mammyjo, sorry to hear your lo has had such a nasty cough. Hope he feels ok and you both get a better night.

Ange, we had impetigo ( B calls it Impetiger!!) before Christmas, and fortunately they gave us ab's rather than cream. I hope it works and it clears it up soon.

We had a fair bit of snow this morning but it has melted and started raining earlier. Still really cold though.
I am starving again, and I have just stuffed TWO yum yums! I bought 2 thinking that B would ask for some, even though she had her own donut, but she didn't ask so I ate them both!! What a pig.

Right need to go, and do art!

See you later. xx

eca · 08/02/2007 16:42

Sorry meant Ange, not Ellie!

muminabigtumi · 08/02/2007 17:17

Oh crikey - a new thread - posting now before I go and catch up with you all - chatterboxes!
I LOVE MY MUM!
Ahhhh just spent a lovely relaxing 2 and a half hours having my hair cut and coloured...had a terrible big wirey grey hair in the mirror moment the other day and have been meaning to book in for a while. It's just so expensive...if I get it done cheap I end up hating it and it costs a fortune to correct it so I figure I might as well just pay for it and be happy with the result....wish Phil understood. Anyway - the reason I love my Mum...well one of the reasons is because she has had James this afternoon for me so that I could go.
I realised how lucky I was because there was a lady at the salon who had a baby with her that screamed the whole time she was there - she musn't have had anyone that could have looked after her for her and she looked totally stressed the whole time she was there - I felt really sorry for her and it made me realise how lucky I am. Not only that but Mum is having him overnight tonight as well...most welcome as he was up at 5.30 AGAIN this morning... that coupled with the last two days of looking after him whilst he was ill - I really needed a bit of me time. I know he has been ill and all they want is their Mum when they are poorly but there is only so much playing Jigsaws, Buckaroo, Shop, Firemen and reading of books I can do in a day without feeling demented!!

I didn't do myself any favours last night by having my tea at 9pm and then going to bed on a full stomach - I paid for it and it was heartburn central most of the night - I was in agony and hardly slept at all. So I am looking forward to a good nights sleep!
Men are so crap sometimes....I texted Phil to say come home early "nudge nudge" "wink wink" and got a "no chance will be home at 6pm" back....honestly you try to spice things up a bit and keep the interest alive and that's the response you get! lol....most women at 30 weeks pregnant wouldn't even bother trying I'm sure!

I wonder if I can get phil to take me out for tea - or even a takeaway?? If the last text was anything to go by I doubt it!

x

CaptainDippy · 08/02/2007 17:33

Awwww, glad you've had such a super time MIABT!

MammyJo - @ DS' coughing and Ellie - @ DS' impetigo - Poor little mites.

Early morning again today - DD1 still poo-ing her knickers at every opportunity. Think my two have got the hump cos of the new baby - At my wits end .....

At least they have been in nursery this pm. Although I spent the afternoon cleaning and then went to the hospital for the most pointless Consultant appt EVER - She just asked me if everything was ok as far as I could tell ("yes"), then felt my tum, took BP, checked urine and ushered me out - Couldn't a MW have done that!!!!? I thought they were going to do a swab for StrepB and other stuff and generally be more investigative (DD2 was 4 weeks early); but she signed me out of Consultant care and sent me on my merry way - after waiting an hour and a half for my appt! Bloomin' waste of a nice child-free afternoon .....

Anyway, things to do - mainly finishing off DD!'s rather bizaare "Sheep" Birthday invites (her choice .... .....)

Laters ......

muminabigtumi · 08/02/2007 17:37

CD - I'm not surprised you were cross - it doesn't exactly instill youwith the greatest confidence does it??! Wishing you a lie in till at least 7am tomorrow as I know how debilitating the early starts can be...

EllieK - love the Snowman!!!

SOSPL - what the heck are yum yums?? Sound good - just wondered?

Katy44 -sorry your midwife was such an old bag...don't let her put you off ringing up if ever you are worried about anything.

AngeG - sorry to hear about Jakes Impetigo...cream sounds great fun...yikes!

oh well off for a seat and a flick through the telly in peace before Phil gets home and takes over!

view across the gardens

as you can see, there was lots of snow, just that the grass in my garden is rather long, making it look like there wasn't much! that and the fact that Matthew and Uncle Skott had been out there for over half hour so had left footprints everywhere

and this is the view from the very end of my garden looking back at the house, note the large snow-less patch down the middle, used to make this

well, on the incompetent medical staff front, i have just returned from the hospital. had to go and get MORE blood taken (no wonder they say I have low blood pressure ) because they didn't fill the form in correctly when they did my 28 week bloods, and 12 days later sent me a letter saying i'd have to go back and have it done again

Great title and great snowman Ellie!

Sorry you´re not having much luck with the your girls sleeping a bit later in the a.m. CD and yes, it does sound like a crappy waste of time. I haven´t had any consultant appts yet..

MIABT - lovely day and YAY for mums helping out!

Got my first real nappy order through yesterday - just one diddy diaper but AAAAAARGH - SO. CUTE. Dh didn´t look too convinced waving it around and going "so this is going to be full of shit and THEN what do we do with it?" But very very cute, can see why they are addictive.

First couples antenatal class tonight which I´m really looking forward to although its 2030-2200 hrs so I am going to be knackered by the time we get back.

maveta · 08/02/2007 17:58

Oh an MIABT - yum yums are like little slices of heaven. Like doughnuts but rectangular or ´twist´ shaped and dipped in icing. Soooooo good.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 08/02/2007 18:02

MIBT, your afternoon sounds lovely. Let's hope Phil sees how lovely your new hair do is, and jumps on you!! Have a lovely evening as well - a meal out sounds like a good plan.
Yum yums are like rectangle shaped donuts, but rather than sugar, they are covered in very thin icing. And, they are yummy!!!

CD, your appt. sounds ridiculous. Sorry you had to waste such a long time for such a brief check-up. Did you have to walk miles to get there as well, or did you drive???

I have had a lovely day. B was in preschool until 1.00 so I did some chores, interspersed with eating and MN. This afternoon we went to a friends house which was great. Our daughters get on really well and spent an hour in spanish dresses and high heels, flamencoing (sp?) around the house!

Waiting for dh to come home now - he has promised he will be back by 6.00! He better pull his finger out then!

Back later. Hope all are well.

liath · 08/02/2007 18:05

Maveta, so long as he doesn't wave it around while it's full of sh*t he'll be fine !

Fab snowman, he can be joint mascot with Bigonion! All the snow has melted here.

MIABT, hurrah for fab mothers, have a lovely evening. I think we could lock your & my DH away together for being useless. It's my birthday today so no present from DH (I asked for a pair of gold earrings but apparently he was too overwhlmed by choice to get any) but no card either . No flowers . No sign of a babysitter & meal out being organised so I've got stuff in to cook my own blooming birthday meal and he's phoned to say he's late leaving work .

Bet I don't get any you-know-what as a birthday treat either. Should have gone out & bought myslef a bloody vibrator as a gift to myself .

WO, bet you were busy today - that case has been all over the news - did you get on the TV?

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 08/02/2007 18:14

Oh Liath, many happy returns. Can't believe you didn't get ANYTHING from dh. I would be in a major sulk. In fact, before I read your thread, I was thinking about valentines day and whether dh would remember and give me a card at least! Probably not, as I am the house calendar.

Perhaps the April girls can club together and buy you a rampant rabbit!!

Enjoy the rest of your day. xx

maveta · 08/02/2007 18:28

Happy Birthday Liath! I would be in a major strop too if dh failed on so many counts. Hope you´re going to make him suffer!!

Hope you have a lovely what´s-left-of-your-birthday x

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 08/02/2007 18:48

aww liath hugs x

i think it must be genetic, i don't go in for valentines day, never have, but just as well really cos stephen will be staying in newcastle that night, with a colleague who likes the hotels near the pubs and assesses how good a night it is by the length of the girls skirts and how much tit-tape is in use I pity his collegue's poor wife who'll be stuck at home on her own he'd never do anything, just likes to look and she thinks it's funny, but i'm well aware that most women don't share my un-romantic view of valentines night

thankfully he has planned to spend my birthday night here, altho i'll be waking up alone on my birthday as he's off to preston to watch the football

OP posts:
muminabigtumi · 08/02/2007 18:49

OMG LAITH - That is SO not on - I'd KILL Phil if that was me!
God love you cooking your own birthday tea!

Oh I feel terrible for saying this now but Phil is just out the door to go and pick up our Chinese Takeaway (result!!!) - I shall think of you as I eat it.... Happy Birthday lovley - your man needs a kick up the arse!

If I can be arsed aftermy takeaway I may pounce on my man - have to take the bull by the horns and all that......

I want a Yum Yum! They sound fab - must watch out for those....

Have I missed something - why would WO be on the news??? When - where - I want to see her?!!!!

muminabigtumi · 08/02/2007 18:51

flumppootle · 08/02/2007 18:54

Happy Birthday Liath Hope dh suprises you later

MIAM - hair cut in peace sounds bliss, have a good night with dh.

Maveta - yeah to real nappies they are SO cute, ds still thinks that they are hilarious

Like the new thread title and the snowman Ellie.

Katy hope your tummy pains have cleared up and v.glad that you checked with your mw even though she was not very useful.

AngeG, your ds with his nose poor soul I hope that he feels better soon.

CD you must be exhausted with your dds, I am struggling to get up at 6.30am just to get mine to school. GRRRR to your consultant appointment I really hope that you didn't have to walk?

We had snow here last night and there is still quite a bit outside. Ds was really cute building his Noman Dreading the walk to school in the morning because the snow is meant to ice over tonight I am clumsy enough at the best of times so not looking forward to sliding down the road!
