Morning everyone

CD - hope the pain has settled down a bit now. If in doubt, get it checked out.

AngeG - something the physio told me about SPD, actually gives me some hope - she said that as the due date get closer, the pain should ease off, because as the baby's head becomes more engaged, it takes up all the slack in the pelvis, so there is no room for any extra movement iyswim

MIABT - lol at James and diggers. Joshua is exactly the same. He gets excited when he sees the recycling lorry coming up the road with all the lights and beeping going on
Nick has started getting his practical head on too (must be something in the air ) even though we would like a homebirth, he's said that we need to have my mum on standby, becuase he's not going to be able to keep Joshua occupied, and give me 100% attention.

SOSPL - great news about the car

Take care everyone else

Morning all. A bit more action today on here. I felt like Billy no mates last night!

CD, how are you today. I hope either things have calmed down or you have seen someone.

Ange, hope you are ok. Sounds like you had fun yesterday. Hope the SPD isn't giving you too much grief, and that the growth scan goes well. Also was v pleased to read about your experience of the Picasso. My dad seems to have a real negative view of them.

MIABT, lovely to see you. Wondered where you had go too after your takeaway the other night!! Sounds like you had a great day as well yesterday. I bet James was in seventh heaven wasn't he!

Hi Runny and Maveta. Glad to hear all these dh's are getting their acts together. Andrej has been busy today too and has put the cot together again. Becky is so excited! Also went upstairs to find Wiggly, one of our cats in there! Cheeky git!

Really knackered again today. B came in at 4.00, although Andrej got her back to bed. I couldn't sleep though for ages after that and then she came in at 6.00 and didn't go back. So, feel like a zombie. My armpit is still sore as well - as if I am fighting an infection or something.

Right, need to get on. Lots to do as ever!

Have a lovely Sunday all, and see you later. xx

Monring ladies

The boys were hideous yesterday - better today. DH made another nice dinner last night and we watched pirates of the caribbean - monster thing a bit scary and thought it would be a bit more action but was very grey and gloomy we thought.

I have decided to speak to my midwife about AND - just been so down recently and so many things set me off into tears - and despite my nice new nursery I don't feel excited at all. Also am considering having an elective section and be sterilised - I never want to be pregnant again! I have had a section before and a natural delivery and actually recovered better from the section.

Hoping for better day today.

Will catch up later

Didn't realise you were suffering, but definitely speak to your MW (((hugs)))

Katy44 · 11/02/2007 15:08

Can anyone tell me is this TENS machine worth buying? How much would they cost to hire, and how much of a hassle is it, considering I'll probably be overdue anyway?!

doginsantasgrotto · 11/02/2007 15:41

Hi everyone. Feel so out of the loop as internet has been playing up and just can't keep up. Hope everyone is OK though and enjoying their weekends. We went to our second NCT ante natal class(of three - third is girls only on breasfeeding) yesterday. So glad I bothered, whoever it was on here who recommended it (CD?) thank you! The sessions were fab, the people great and think it will be a lifeline for me once LO comes along with having some friends in the area who are in exactly the same boat (as family are 200+ miles away). worth every penny. Having the men there made all the difference (stop it being too intense) plus think really good for them too to make it all seem more real.

Is anyone else surprised at how gentle their LO's movements are? I am 7 weeks on Tuesday and I don't know, just imagined the kicks to be 'more' IYKWIM; and don't know if I shoudl be worried. I generally feel more of a 'shifting' than kicks... any advice?

Bought some tiny scratch mitts and socks today in Tesco - sooooo cute. Can't believe we are all going to be meeting our LOs so soon!

Take care all

Katy44 · 11/02/2007 16:03

have just realised my TENS machine isn't suitable for labour
Well at least I haven't bought it yet!
dogin - yes, I know exaclty what you mean about kicks, most of mine are still very gentle - from what I remember, similar to when I first started feeling them, but I expected them to be a lot harder by now. Although quite often dh says he gets kicked hard at night when he's got his arm round me - I'm too asleep to notice!

eca · 11/02/2007 18:02

hi all

not been around much the last couple of days. dh slept rough last night for charity and to raise the profile of homelessness and it's been a major operation all weekend! I was so worried about the weather, but thankfull the snow had melted and there wasn't even frost. People were really kind and supported them. The local Indian brought them a curry at midnight (which I helped eat up!) and various people came out with hot flasks of stuff to drink.

Anyway, hope you lot are all well.

SOL - we're looking at getting a picasso too! They are the family car of the moment!

CD - at your maternity unit being closed! Just read an article in the Observer about them being closed because of funding etc. Why is it women's healthcare gets the chop first!! Makes me very cross. Also reading about IVF being refused to younger women (WHO HAVE A HIGHER CHANCE OF SUCCESS!!) and them being told they have to wait until they are nearing 40 (when the chances are less!!!!) That just doesn't make sense! Poor things, as if it isn't enought to have fertility probs, they are told they can't try science until their chances are really low. Makes me very Sorry for the rant!

Ange - hope scan tomorrow goes well. Sorry to hear the spd is playing up.

miam - how cute is James with all the diggers etc!! Warms my heart as I was practically brought up in a yard like that!

9 wks - sorry you are feeling low. big hugs to you. it's probably a good idea to chat things through with your mw, hope she's understanding and gentle with you. I would try not to think about getting sterilised with all the other emotions flying round and big decisions to make (like the c-section) at the mo. It's not an urgent decision and you can think about that one after everything's settled down post birth. Go easy on yourself and give yourself time. I'm not saying it wont be the right thing for you to get it done, just don't want you to load yoruself up with big decisions and get stressed.

hi dogs in santa's! - smiling at your festive name still! Kicks here are painful mine is definately more kung-fu than ballet dancer! Very of your gentle one!

Hello everyone I've missed. WO- hope the painting goes well. Katy - didn't know that some tens weren't suitalbe for labour ! Will shop more carefully!

Katy44 · 11/02/2007 18:12

No neither did I! Can't help feeling that it's deliberate as the cheapest pregnancy one is at least twice the price - still, not worth risking it!
Very brave of your dh to do that after the weather these last few days! Although I suppose if most people think that as well it will highlight even more that some people don't have that choice...anyway, I'm very impressed as it's not something I would consider doing.

eca · 11/02/2007 18:35

katy - have you looked at hiring? i think weare just going to go to boots. it says if you go overdue they'll let you keep it as long as you need for free.

dh did well. people kept asking if i was joining him ! As if. Might consider it when not preg though.

Bugmum · 11/02/2007 19:08

Hi All,
Just a bit of advice wanted, really. I was going to do without a double buggy altogether (DS will be nearly 27 months when the baby is born), and rely on a sling and a buggy board, but I am now feeling uneasy about this. DS is a very good walker, but not as good as I am (when not suffering from SPD!) and, crucially, I don't drive. This means DP, who does drive and so doesn't have my issues, is leaving the decision to me.

I am now thinking my beloved light Maclaren and a sling for the bus, and then being REALLY extravagant and getting a First Wheels City Twin with one carrycot. This will also be really useful for when I take DS to his M&T groups etc, as the baby can perhaps sleep or rest in the carrycot. I know they are an obscene amount of money (it will come in at around £370), but the re-sale should be reasonable, as I can't imagine I would use it beyond a year (half?). And more importantly, my in-laws are moving and giving us a little money, which would allow one such extravance. What do you think, ladies? The bean is another boy, so we won't be buying much new for him. He does have an Amby Nest, but that was courtesy of some vouchers from well-off rellies. I really, really don't fancy a Phil&Ted (they are either love them or hate them, I think); this is the only double I have ever actually wanted.

Sigh.

9weeksandcounting · 11/02/2007 19:59

Evening all - thanks for all your hugs! Had a better day today. Top Gear on soon so need to be quick!

I didn't know about the tens thing either - I have just bought some new pads for the tens machine I had when hurt my back - will take to midwife and ask

I was planning to be sterilised when they do the section so don't have to go through two operations - it is something i thought about before but as was originally planning to have natural birth would go for coil afterwards. DH thinks I should go ahead and book it all and then can change my mind closer to the time rather than leaving it too late. The thought of knowing date of arrival and only 7 weeks to go is very comforting at the moment.

Have to work tomorrow - but then finish thursday and off out for chinese as leaving do thursday night which will be great.

Tuesday have midwife.

Wedsnesday - good friend coming for the day with her kids - she has had 3 sections so will quiz her!

Thursday - last day at work YIIIPPPPPPPEEEE

Friday - have photo shoot booked with the boys and we're into half term!

Think this week will go pretty quickly!

9weeksandcounting · 11/02/2007 20:00

oooh strong braxton hicks

9weeksandcounting · 11/02/2007 20:00

CD - hope you are okay - big hugs xoxoxoxox

Bugmum · 11/02/2007 20:03

CD - Hope you got checked out and everything went okay

9Weeks - It is probably worth talking it over with your MW (isn't she a friend of yours? Or is that someone else?), as it might just be a blue patch, but it could be AND and as WO says, at least you'd be in the system.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 11/02/2007 20:09

Hiya loves, and hope you are all well.

CD - any news?? Hope you are ok.

9weeks - glad you are feeling a bit brighter tonight, and I hop you get some good advice from your mw. My sil has had 4 c sections and was sterlised the last time.

Doghouse - really pleased the NCT classes are going well.

eca - The Picasso's are great aren't they. Such good value as well. I can't wait to get one.

EllieK - how was your evening?

Ange - has ds's impetigo cleared up?

Nowt to report here. Knackered again tonight and will probably be in bed in about an hour. Dd seems much brighter thank God, and my armpit doesn't seem so sore. I think we must have had a touch of a mild virus.

Right, dinner bubbling over, so better head.

xxx

eca · 11/02/2007 20:10

hey 9wks,

glad to hear you feeling bit better. Didn't know they could do the 2 ops in 1. Wondered if that was the case after i'd posted (hence you needed to think about it now). Hope that the next few days, chatting to friend/mw and seeing how you feel will help you think things through

Bramshott · 11/02/2007 20:11

Evening all.

CD - hope you made it into the maternity unit today and all is going okay.

9 weeks - sorry you were/are feeling down. Hope you can talk to a sympathetic GP.

Bugmum - I wouldn't feel guilty about getting a double buggy if I were you. My DD is just 4, but if she were any younger I would seriously be considering one as there are just times when you want to walk at adult speed! Go for the one you want and don't compromise - think how much of your time you're going to spend pushing it!

Had a 'down' day yesterday, worrying about everything - the amount of work I have to do before I finish; the amount of things in our house & garden which are still not finished and that I now can't do; the fact that the baby doesn't have a room to sleep in; the birth; my lack of a birth plan; being a mum of two and how I will cope, etc etc - you know the drill!! Feeling better today, despite a bad night's sleep, so reckon it was just one of those days, and the fact that I am now about a week off the date when I had DD is adding to the stress for the next week or so. Roll on 22 Feb when I will be more pregnant than I ever got last time!! Mind you, did pack some sort of hospital bag for me and an overnight bag for DD today, just in case. I haven't got everything yet, but it did feel good (if scary!) to be doing something towards all the stuff I was worrying about!
