New thread - hope everyone finds this! I'll try and post the link in the old thread if it will let us go over 1,000 posts.

I'm planning to work to 39 weeks & I did with DS too so can't see why it would be an issue. DS was induced at 42 wks (I had him at 40+16) and was going crazy from wk 41 onwards. I'd genuinely rather go into labour at work than 'wait around' for 3 weeks at home.

I think it all depends on your health, work environment & temperament. I love work, and got bored on mat leave so for me it makes sense to keep working while I can. Also, Jan is fairly quiet at work & I can work from home/ take a few days holiday so
I'm not doing full weeks.

Having said that, if they tell me I'm going to be induced at 40wks then I will prob finish a week earlier just to make sure I'm well rested for the birth.

Mystery - this is my number 1, so no prior experience! But I am basically desk-based and non-public facing (we don't work directly with the public anyway in my role, but I guess what I mean is, not customer services or anything) so I don't think it'll be a problem in principle! I have no real world experience of what might happen, but I'd rather maximise maternity with the bub, if I can :)

Like ready also says - my role is also pretty quiet over Jan, and I've shortened my weeks up to mat leave by booking off some Fridays - so I won't be doing full 5 day weeks anyway.

Evergreen17 · 14/11/2016 20:30

My role involves dealing with people (a lot of people) all day and walking around 8km a day (used to be over 10km before they changed things for my pregnancy) plus a 4 hours commute to London.
I think it is really bringing me down but I am hoping I can cope for 6 more weeks Confused

GinIsIn · 14/11/2016 20:33

Evening all! Have reported the spammy fucker.

GinIsIn · 14/11/2016 20:34

Oops early post! Was going to say I'm planning to work to 36+2, as I'm another one with a mega commute of about 2 hours each way.

Evergreen17 · 14/11/2016 21:08

Hehere GrinGrin

LondonGirl83 · 14/11/2016 21:09

Ever I'd find that tough even if I weren't pregnant. Hang in there!

Evergreen17 · 14/11/2016 21:09

Commute sucks big time
I am so tired of people not giving up seats

Mysterycat23 · 14/11/2016 21:32

kiki 4 day week would be amazing! Agree rather spend more time with baby. Hope your energy stays high and you don't crash like I seem to have.. Ever sounds tough, my commute is much shorter but still counting down the weeks to freedom!

Shellbell0403 · 14/11/2016 21:33

ever it will fly in! So what date do you actually finish?

I finish up work 4 weeks on Thurs! 15th Dec 😃😃 I hate my job and it's all targets and stress so will finish at 31+4 using holidays and my actual mat leave starts on my due date! Just not a nice place to work and all change and stress.... plus you have a productivity target which is rubbish when have to pee all the time! Lol

Evergreen17 · 14/11/2016 22:06

I finish on the 23rd Grin
2 weeks hols and mat leave starts 9th of Jan at 35 weeks Smile
My job was nice for a while but after 4 years I am ready for a break!

LunaPatuna · 14/11/2016 22:43

Urgh I had the stupidity to ask a while ago why I missed out on a training course/qualification in work as they put a new guy who is a level below me & joined the business after me on it in Sept. Asked if it was pregnancy related/wanted justification. Boss made up a rubbish reason (forgot most likely) & after I mentioned it to a female manager I've been booked on it!
Been there Friday & today and I'm struggling, lecturer is full of anecdotes and not going over the answers so having to do homework & mock tests. Questions are designed to catch you out! Final part of course tomorrow & exam in the afternoon.
Hope the brain fog clears and I can get it over with!
6 weeks at work, a week off, then 2 weeks back for me before A/L & maternity....

CeeCeeEnnEss · 15/11/2016 07:10

I'm currently planning on going on maternity leave at 37+5, but we'll see. Given that I now have crutches for PGP and am spending this week (at least) working from home, I'm not sure that I won't be forced to go early.

divadee · 15/11/2016 07:38

Morning ladies.

I'm planning on going on maternity leave technically on the 03/01 (due 30/01). But we break up for the term on the 16/12 and the 03/01 I will work from home for one day. I only did that day so I would get the Xmas holidays paid for and not made to take it as maternity leave.

GinIsIn · 15/11/2016 07:57

Is anyone else finding themselves breaking into a massive sweat all the time at the mo? It's GROSS! 😭

teabagsmummy · 15/11/2016 07:59

I finish work at 36 weeks I'm using 3 weeks holiday and then starting official mat leave at 39 weeks.
I work 12 hour night shifts as a nurse but managed to reduce my nights to 2 nights a week. I'm still struggling as its really hard going and I'm having to work a lot with agency staff.
My ds was born at 36 weeks the day I started mat leave! So hopefully I'll get sometime to rest this time

Evergreen17 · 15/11/2016 08:03

Ahhh Luna sounds exhausting. Keep counting the days!
Fenella I could fill a shot glass if I slept with it between my boobs Blush
So much for the glowing, I get pretty stinky Sad
Teabags night shifts sound so tiring Shock

Evergreen17 · 15/11/2016 08:04

How much water are people drinking??? I usually drink a lot but these days I go to bed with a 1L bottle and finish it up before breakfast Confused

GinIsIn · 15/11/2016 08:09

God it's grim, isn't it? I spent 20 mins doing my hair this morning and it's already a frizzy, sweaty mess. I've been trying to drink less water as I can't cope with the constant needing the loo, but I've failed miserably so far!

LondonGirl83 · 15/11/2016 08:14

I'm not drinking enough water which is causing some water retention. I'm going to try to drink more today as I've gained a kilo in water weight overnight (which has happened to me before). I can feel it in my legs...

Shellbell0403 · 15/11/2016 08:26

I'm not drinking enough water... drinking anything but haha. Hate water on its own lol

divadee · 15/11/2016 08:50

A very big sweaty mess with massive hot flushes here fenella have them at work especially.

GinIsIn · 15/11/2016 09:10

diva mine have just kicked in this week - a lovely start of the third trimester gift, it seems! Hmm
