Ever I know exactly how you feel. I find I'm in a constant state of worry. I hope baby has moved around a bit now and you can enjoy your evening.

Mysterycat23 · 12/11/2016 22:22

Oneiroi everyone was really nice, all first time parents. DH found it really positive to chat to the other dads, group was split into smaller groups at various points in the session to get everyone to mingle and chat which I thought was really good. Gumboots and twocats agree, our leader seemed to gloss over some of the more tricky aspects e.g. someone asked about breech birth and in her answer she somehow avoided saying that would be a serious complication! I think so long as we are getting info from NHS as well to balance out the, erm, optimism then it will be beneficial.

I am also short of work clothes Naschkatze. All black.. one dress, one pair of trousers and 2 tops. It's a bit miserable but for now just have to make do. Dreading getting bigger, then even those won't fit me. Have been wearing more jewellery and pretty scarfs to brighten it up! Had to get new shoes as my feet have gone up 1 to 2 sizes depending on time of day, literally can't get my normal ones on to my feet.. Also black!!

Mysterycat23 · 12/11/2016 22:23

Ever hope you are ok?

kikisdelivery · 12/11/2016 22:54

Nasche and ever I am also completely the same. I went and lay upstairs to count kicks earlier, as I've been super busy all day and got freaked out by not feeling much from him for a while. It's a constant low-level state of worry!!

Roseandwine · 12/11/2016 22:54

We did NCT when pg with ds, and leader was lovely. However, I did find the agenda for natural birth present, which is a lovely ideal, but not always possible or appropriate. I remember her explaining with an elaborate role play how many people could be present with a medicalised birth, and I said that if things went wrong I honestly couldn't care how many white coats were in there, and the more qualified the better! Out if the six first time mums who attended 5 of us would most likely not have survived our own births as babies without medical intervention. And sure enough, 5 out of the 6 of us did not end up with a water birth to soft music. I had a two sides, A4, 11 font birth plan last time but after being in early labour with a baby that was back to back for 5 days and only getting to two cm dilated my birth-plan this time is one sentence ..."Please induce me with epidural, thankyou."

Evergreen17 · 13/11/2016 00:52

Thanks all!!
I waited and didnt feel any movement so I called the antenatal unit and they said to go there.
Midwife listened to the heart beat and said there is was so not to worry. But I am still worried because why wasnt it moving as before?
I mean this is going to be 14 more weeks of the same isnt it?
Driving to the hospital and the stress is not easy for me. Pregnancy is not what I thought it would be Sad

LondonGirl83 · 13/11/2016 00:57

Rose sounds like a sensible birth plan!

I think a straight forward vaginal birth is the ideal we should all be hoping for, with or without pain relief as you need.

However, pretending like doctors or medicine is the enemy would really rile me so I hope I get a less ideological NCT instructor than that. I mean, in countries without modern medicine the maternal death rate is still as high as 1 in 8. Until modern medicine child birth was exceedingly dangerous. We are so LUCKY that medical intervention is possible when needed!

ScottishSnowflake · 13/11/2016 05:24

Hi Ever, good news on the heart beat Smile I think little one may be establishing a new routine or hiding maybe? Between 26-28 weeks my one's pattern and movements were all over the place. He's still not settled now and I worry too. You absolutely did the right thing by getting checked, no one ever told me about the constant worry you go through when pregnant - I just keep being told to enjoy it Confused guess when little one's here it's easy sometimes to forget

Shellbell0403 · 13/11/2016 06:55

Glad to hear all is ok ever Baba may just be facing another way and that's why you might not have felt him..plus he still has lots of room to move around.. u done the right thing by calling them tbough plus got to hear the heartbeat 😁
Iv been up for ages, between DH being an arse and taking up most of the bed and jumping around, the dog jumping up and down and jellybean having a party, will be exhausted later!!

Evergreen17 · 13/11/2016 08:38

Thanks scottish and shellbell. I am 27 weeks tomorrow and hoping that from 28 he behaves a bit more constantly...
Because this is such a worry all the time! DH is never worried but happy to come with me. What else is happening to people apart from constipation? Any new joys I should be aware of? Hmm

Shellbell0403 · 13/11/2016 08:45

ever i actually can't believe we are 27 weeks tomorrow!!
My wee jellybean is normally rather quiet but had me up for hours this morning jumping about etc... then I started to panic! Your right, the worry never leaves! Have you tried lactulose for constipation?
Going to ikea today... wonder what joyful things I can buy today 😄😄

LondonGirl83 · 13/11/2016 11:26

ever glad baby is okay!

Evergreen17 · 13/11/2016 21:37

Shell 27 weeks tomorrow yes. I actually feel that it is going very slowly. Maybe because I am very impatient. Bubba moved lots today!
I think on active days he moves more? I dont know
6 weeks left at work and not sure how I am going to survive.

Evergreen17 · 13/11/2016 21:37

Thanks London

teabagsmummy · 14/11/2016 08:56

Is anyone else having Braxton hicks? I'm 29 weeks today. What a night I had I thought I was in labor the pains were waking me up I was all set for going into hospital but eventually it settled down. It was so bad it woke me from a deep sleep.
I have the midwife on Friday so I'll ask her then. The only thing I did differently yesterday was has sex with dh for the 1st time in weeks so we've agreed to give it a miss to nearer me due date!

twocatsandatoddler · 14/11/2016 09:18

teabag I get them at the end of the day or if I've done too much walking around. Last night my bump was rock solid with Braxton Hicks. They're not painful for me though, just uncomfortable.

OP posts:
LondonGirl83 · 14/11/2016 10:38

I don't think I've had that yet. Just struggling on with constipation. I thought I'd found the perfect combo of stuff that had been working brilliantly until this weekend but it seems I might need to go back to the GP.

Grim, I know!

Does anyone have a good recommendation for books with good breathing exercises. My mom did the Lamaze breathing technique when she had me but it seems to be more of a US thing. I'm not sure hypnobirthing is for me but I'd love some other ideas.

Mysterycat23 · 14/11/2016 12:39

Good to hear I'm not the only one with constipation ! That was probably the most awkward appt with the gp, felt so embarrassed and silly. Much better now with prescribed stuff :)

LondonGirl83 · 14/11/2016 12:50

Oh, you are not alone mystery! I find the constipation even worse than the PGP...

One of my colleagues who is also pregnant (but about 7 weeks ahead of me) has not been able to come in at all this week she's feeling so bad and she's not due for another 5 weeks! I'm starting to wonder if my plan to work up until I'm 37 weeks is truly realistic. I hate the idea of using MAT leave to just sit around at home though rather than maximising time with my daughter...

twocatsandatoddler · 14/11/2016 12:58

London every pregnancy is different! I'm working up to 37+5, but won't commute in after 37 weeks so last few days will be at home, mainly because I live quite far out of London and don't want to be too far from my hospital if I go into labour in central London as I'm booked at Cambridge.

Last time I stopped at about 36+2 and physically would have been fine to continue to work much longer - I was uncomfortable and tired but it wasn't horrendous. I actually wish I'd worked a couple more weeks as I ended up having 5 weeks off before the baby was born and was bored. Everyone's different though, I didn't know anyone in my local area as we'd just moved which contributed to my boredom, this time I'd probably be able to find more to do!

OP posts:
LondonGirl83 · 14/11/2016 14:49

I'm worried about being bored too and also wasting leave that I could have with the baby twocats. Also, while I haven't found pregnancy easy as such, my colleague was worked to the bone until very recently and hasn't had any time to exercise or take care of herself. I'm hoping all the pilates, yoga and walking I'm getting in will keep my feeling a bit better until near the end but who knows.

kikisdelivery · 14/11/2016 15:44

Oooh Ever I'm jealous of your mat leave starting!

Mine's not planned until 25th Jan. I know... I might well be mad! But I have a friend who - also as a FTM - worked up to week 38 then took week 39 as leave (my plan too) before mat leave kicked in properly at week 40. I have heard of so many ladies being bored on the one hand, but then other ladies saying it was great to relax and prepare on the other hand! I've made what I think will be the right choice for me, but on tired days like today, I'd love to go home and have mat leave start this evening!! Grin

Mysterycat23 · 14/11/2016 16:58

Kiki that sounds brave! Is it your no. 2? I mean do you know from experience you will be fine to work up to then? I am increasingly tired and dragging myself around. Feel like a zombie today. Almost falling asleep at my desk.. yuck.

twocatsandatoddler · 14/11/2016 17:19

I'm hoping the baby doesn't come early so I do actually have over two weeks off before he arrives. I'll keep my son at nursery for his 4 days in those few weeks so that the days off really are days off, as it'll be lovely to have some time to myself to rest, and to sort through some admin before the chaos of a newborn! We're extending the house next year and some things will need to go up into the attic for storage so I want to de-clutter a few cupboards to save having to do it when I have two kids around! It's hard to find the time to do before January as my work is quite busy and it's not the sort of thing you can easily do with an almost two year old that likes to 'help'.

Teabag I dont have them yet and I am hoping not to Sad
Kikis I am starting to really hate my job now so I dont think I could do it for much longer.

I didnt go to work today and wont be going tomorrow. DH has a very bad cold and I feel exhausted so hoping that by resting I wont get too sick.

6 weeks left at work and not sure how I will mentally cope with it Sad
