Girdle not griddle

LondonGirl83 · 21/11/2016 16:25

Your GP can probably refer you. I just said midwife as it was my midwife that referred me. Symptoms of pelvic girdle issues include, hip, back and groin / pubic pain as all these areas are connected to each other. Doing your pelvic floor exercises will also help your lower back as your pelvic floor stabilize your back.

I know like me, you too have a bad back which is a know risk factor.

Here is some more info: www.nct.org.uk/pregnancy/pelvic-girdle-pain-pregnancy

Evergreen17 · 21/11/2016 19:53

Thanks London. I only seem to have pain on my back (lower first now upper) and the bump was sore today but I think because of muscles stretching? I will talk to midwife on Thursday and see what she says.
Back pain is hell Sad

Shellbell0403 · 21/11/2016 20:07

Not been on for a few days and we're nearly on a new thread Shock no way I vam catch up now but hoping to keep up with the new one. Hope everyone is well.

LondonGirl83 · 21/11/2016 21:46

Shell I'm doing okay. I've been popping over the Facebook as well trying to keep up with both chats. I'm hoping I've finally turned a corner at work with some of the difficult personalities I've been struggling with but I also have a final discussion on the other job opportunity next Tuesday so I have some pretty big decisions to make in the next week.

The nursery is now done though! I have to figure out how to take some photos to upload this weekend.

Also, do any of you second time mums remember of things like the sleepyhead go on sale either for Blackfriday or for Christmas?

FriendlyGhost · 21/11/2016 23:07

London I got my sleepyhead from an Amazon Black Friday deal for £60 two years ago. I also got the bigger one on a similar offer so I would expect they'll be reducing them.

LondonGirl83 · 21/11/2016 23:41

Oh, that's terrific!

Evergreen17 · 22/11/2016 08:28

Ahhh black Friday! I dont really have any more big purchases to make apart from the car seat but DH will be looking at those as we are getting a new car ConfusedConfused
I havent slept for days now. I am zombie. I cant remember the last time a cold made me so miserable. Actually I think it was March.
I dont know about the rest but I am finding pregnancy the worst. Apart from the initial excitement and the outcome I honestly think it is miserable time Sad
But as soon as this cold is over I am going to be so so much happier!!! I cant wait and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!
My heart was going crazy this morning and the bubba was moving lots but I am not going to worry I have decided.

hibernatingdormouse · 22/11/2016 08:50

Aching legs and hips at night are now driving me crazy. I swear I'm turning over about every 15 mins, makes it really hard to get any real sleep.

I was going to work until 37 weeks but now thinking of finishing for xmas. Due on 03 Feb, anyone think this is too early or are any of you planning to finish in December too?

Kate555578 · 22/11/2016 08:56

Hi, we bought our travel system last night from mothercare wiTh a free car seat for the Black Friday deals if anyone hasn't seen and is interested :) they've got loads of deals on at the minute.

Bisquick · 22/11/2016 09:49

Ladies, couple of questions on Prams and car seats. Could one of you with access to Which tell me what they say about the Cosatto 0+ Hold baby car seat?
Looking at the Mothercare Black Friday deals on prams now!
Also has anyone bought/used the Cosatto Giggle 2? Would appreciate any opinions on it!

Finally, this may be silly, but how do you go out with the baby when you don't have your own car? If I take public transport and only use the carrycot + Pram that means I can't ever take an Uber back since I won't have my car seat. But can we take the baby out in just the car seat + chassis? The online instructions say they shouldn't be in the car seat for longer than 2 hours! Or should we carry both the car seat and the carrycot when we step out? That seems like a lot?

twocatsandatoddler · 22/11/2016 10:17

Bisquick you shouldn't really take them out in the car seat unless it's for short trips only, as it's best for them to sleep flat, car seats tilt them up a bit and it can be harder for them to breathe, and the position is not optimal for their backs.

I only really put the car seat onto the buggy chassis if just popping into the supermarket or a quick shop, for longer trips out I always took the carry cot. Although agree it would a pain to take the car seat with you as well, I didn't really have this issue as we rarely take public transport since we moved out of London.

You could take a carrier/sling with you to restrict the time they spend in the car seat to short intervals. Technically it's actually legal to have the baby on your lap in a taxi but I've never done it as if it's illegal to do so in anyone else's car I don't see how it's ok to do it in a taxi!

Thanks twocats - wondering what people in London do. I imagine it would be quite cumbersome to step out with a carrycot + a carseat unless we had our own car.
I wonder what London plans to do since I think she's probably in a similar boat?

BoomKapow · 22/11/2016 10:42

Bisquick it gets 68% on Which? (I assume you are belting it not using an Isofix base if you are looking at using in an Uber?) This is the review:

PROS Doesn't take up much space in the car, good safety results and isn't very heavy

CONS Lacks padding
The Cosatto Hold Group 0+ gets a good overall safety rating, but the padding is quite thin, and the seat is downgraded slightly due to some minor ease-of-use issues. The harness needs a good tug to get it tight enough, while the handle needs to be folded towards the car seat's backrest, which parents could forget to do.

How safe is it?
The results of our tough crash testing, where we ensure the seat is fitted correctly, show the Hold has a low risk of injury. It gets a good four-star overall safety rating. It provides excellent frontal impact protection, and good side-impact protection when installed using the car's adult seat belt.

Is the seat easy to fit?
It's fairly easy to fit this seat. It's quite lightweight and doesn't take up much space, but strapping your baby into the seat needs a bit of force to get the harness tight enough, and the handle of the infant carrier must be folded towards the car seat's backrest after installation.
Is the seat comfortable?
The padding on the Hold is a bit thin compared with others we've tested, but the seat is spacious enough for your baby, and support for little legs is good enough.
Is there anything else I should know?
The harness is quite hard to tighten enough, especially on the upper belt harness slots used for older babies, so watch out for this.
And the harness is a re-thread harness, which isn't the best choice, as there's a bigger chance of error when moving the harness to make it bigger as your baby grows.

Should I buy it?
The Hold gets a good overall safety rating, but it's not a Best Buy. There are other infant carriers available that are easier to use and offer better protection, but they might not be as jazzy to look at.

BoomKapow · 22/11/2016 10:47

There are a couple of car seats on the market which can lay flat allowing you to use them for extended periods of time and negating the need for a carrycot. Im looking at this one in particular:

www.kiddyuk.com/infant-carriers/evo-luna-i-size

It is quite expensive but once I factored in not buying the carry cot I think it comes out a similar price to a car seat and carrycot. We tend to drive for long periods so I wanted some thing that the baby could be in for a while then go onto the pram base without transferring (and waking it up!) it to a carrycot. I'm hoping I can find it reduced on Black Friday!

Bisquick · 22/11/2016 10:47

Thanks BoomKapow! That's useful to know!

BoomKapow · 22/11/2016 10:58

I've been researching car seats A LOT recently! I think i'm a little obsessed!

Readyfortwo · 22/11/2016 11:34

London if you go to camelcamelcamel.co.uk and type in the Amazon URL then you can track the pricing history on that product & set alerts for when it hits a certain price.
