Well ours is at my mums anyway just because we haven't told the boys about their little sis yet. Waiting until after Xmas 🎄 Grin x

Cloeycat · 05/12/2016 11:27

Genghis I watch it on RTÉ international player. It was good this year I thought but definitely something that doesn't translate well to outsiders. My OH found it creepy and only watched it for 20 mins before wandering off 😢

Carolann8584 · 06/12/2016 13:37

Everyone gone over to the facebook group instead?

Need to rant so........

So soooo stressed today! if you remember a couple of weeks ago (24/11/16)I left work early to go to the hospital as LO wasn't moving or I hadn't felt her anyway. LO ok, docs happy with how she was.

Was off ill last week from work, sore throat, neck, head etc came in 2 mornings only to go home again as couldn't work

Back in today to an investigation!! very formal letter handed to me by my manager saying I had an unauthorised absence for the 24th and 25th! saying I didn't let management know I left work. There was no management in the building at the time, my manager was on holiday on these days, I let a couple of colleagues know, one is senior to me. Was too preoccupied to even think any further than wanted to get to the hospital.

Tried to explain this to my manager she said we can discuss tomorrow in the meeting! I was in work until lunch time on the 24th and in all day on the 25th. Really don't know what to do now. Shock Sad

froglou · 06/12/2016 14:13

Can you get a note or letter from the hospital to say you was there and why, if its pregnancy related you have every right to go to the hospital and if there's no managers on site for you to notify I don't see what they're complaining about!
Might be misreading it but I don't understand why are they looking at the 25th if you was in then?

Carolann8584 · 06/12/2016 14:28

You're not miss reading it, they put the 25th on the letter but I was here.

Carolann8584 · 06/12/2016 14:29

I'm at the Midwife tomorrow afternoon then I have my GTT Thursday morning so I can see if she will give me a note for the 24th.

Happygojo86 · 06/12/2016 14:53

Carolann I wouldn't worry too much. Like you say, you were there on the 25th, 24th was pregnancy related and you had no management to tell. I suppose the worse they could say would be to drop your managers an email to let them know in future? But it's all a bit silly as if you collapsed or cut yourself (for example) and went to hospital, they wouldn't expect you to stick around letting everyone know

Carolann8584 · 06/12/2016 14:58

I actually emailed my manager before I left as I know she sometimes picks them up while she's off. I just don't understand why stress me out by having the meeting tomorrow, why couldn't I just explain today and have done with it.

Even when I mentioned I was in on the 25th she just shot me down and said we will discuss tomorrow.

I am allowed to take someone in with me, I have asked another manager to sit in with me. Been feeling very emotional the past week or so, had a bit of a cry in the ladies this morning when she gave the letter. Trying my hardest not to let it get to me, then my little lady gave me a lovely rolling kick to snap me out of it Smile

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 07/12/2016 06:36

That sounds ridiculous Carol. So you did email your manager about leaving early on 24th (and told colleagues), and were actually there on 25th. To be honest, I wouldn't worry (easy to say) but it sounds like your manager has over-reacted and got the facts wrong. Ask in your meeting, what more s/he expected you to do on 24th. Don't forget you're well protected while pregnant, though to be honest it all sounds totally ott from the manager regardless of pregnancy.

Thanks for the international player suggestion Cloey I hadn't even thought of that.

I had the GTT this morning and am really hoping I don't have it especially as I'm about to go on holidays for four weeks and will cry if I have to miss out on nice food!

Carolann8584 · 07/12/2016 09:23

Good luck today Genghis I have my GTT tomorrow morning Sad

I'm at the MW later hopefully she can give me something for my raging heartburn.

Carolann that sounds horrible. But it should be simple enough to sort out and your company are in the wrong if they persist. Pregnant women are well protected in the work place. If you needed to go to hospital for a pregnancy emergency and I'm pretty sure checking on baby because of lack of moment is classed as an emergency then you are well within your rights to go so long as you inform your work as soon as possible. If you couldn't tell a manager but informed a senior colleague that should be good enough. Can you prove you were in on the 25th? Clocking system or something? Evidence from colleagues? Did you have any warning informal letters or notification that they were unhappy before this letter? Did anyone ask where you were on those days? If they thought you were off was there a return to work interview, or do you only get those after three days or a week? I work in HR. I would make sure it is noted that they way they have handled your absence through a medical emergency has brought on additional stress. Even if for some reason they want to take it further this may put them off. I'm not sure what grounds they would have though, unless you have a very poor absence record in the past.

Does everyone get GTT or is it only under certain circumstances. I haven't had any blood tests since 8 weeks either. So may well have low iron but they haven't found it.

Carolann8584 · 07/12/2016 11:13

Out of meeting now, all sorted, I have emails and worked saved on my login to prove I was in on the Friday. They were concerned about their "duty of care" should someone have driven me/followed my car/ was I ok to drive etc. I should have spoken to someone before I left, I explained if I could have spoken about it I would have but I was upset and concerned so I would have probably burst into tears while trying to explain so I chose to email instead.

Still not sure why this couldn't have been spoken about yesterday, I haven't had anyone ask me about it at all until this meeting, if they did maybe I wouldn't have stressed so much about it.

I was told I'm having the GTT coz on my weight, not quite over weight but on their borders I think and something to do with my age (32)

Butterpuff · 07/12/2016 11:25

I'm glad its all sorted. Your HR department need to review their communication though. If they wanted a meeting because they were concerned for you this really should have been made clear so as not to add additional stress to your situation. What a bunch of twits. It could all have been solved by a return to work meeting as soon as you were back, a formal follow up if needed.

Oh dear, if that's the case with GTT I'm surprised I haven't had to have it. Also not quite overweight (though when your 5ft BMI is really hard on you) and 34! Also a chocolate lover Grin Chocolate

Carolann8584 · 07/12/2016 11:46

I'm blaming what's in my bra for my BMI score. I'm 5ft 2" and very top heavy lol! only gone up 1 cup size so far, hope they stop there Smile

Butterpuff · 07/12/2016 12:34

Mine went up 2 sizes with dd. Sorry. Was also pretty top heavy to start......oh and they haven't gone down yet. Hmm

Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh

Serious hor-moan-al moment!! Everything is irritating me! My OH keeps on at me saying I'm not eating enough, just screamed at him SEE HOW HUNGRY YOU ARE AFTER 3 PINTS OF MILK JUST TO EASE YOUR HEARTBURN!!

NameChange30 · 07/12/2016 19:43

Hi, how is everyone doing?

I had an extra scan today, because I'd signed up for a research study, and I'm so glad I did. Baby is doing well, all measurements fine, and we got to see 3D images which usually freak me out but the image quality was good and it was lovely to get a glimpse of his little face! Starting to feel excited about meeting him now Grin

I'm officially in my third trimester and starting to feel very tired again. I think the second trimester energy peak is no more! Sad Just as well we've done the pushchair shopping!

carol
Glad the work issue has been sorted, sounds like it caused you some unnecessary stress which is a shame but at least it's been cleared up now.
Did the midwife give you any advice or medication for your heartburn?
I hear you on getting stressed and annoyed by minor things! Pregnancy does help me to calm down so maybe you could try that if you haven't already?

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

NameChange30 · 07/12/2016 19:44

Pregnancy yoga helps me to calm down, I meant!

Carolann8584 · 07/12/2016 22:27

MW has ordered me something for my heartburn but can't pick it up until tomorrow.

I've got my GTT tomorrow morning so nothing to eat or drink from now, can I take any gaviscon liquid if my heartburn stops me sleeping later?
