No we've decided not to bother with the carrycot Name, going to get the newborn cocoon instead!

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 27/11/2016 22:10

Wow - you were very productive Name! I'm impressed. You mustn't have much left to buy now?

Great to read that your baby has been so active Carol..she must have been having a lazy day last week - sure, we all deserve one now and then Grin

Cloeycat · 27/11/2016 23:17

Can I ask what softplay is? I'm aware that it will be rather a while before I have to take baby to whatever it is but I see it referenced all over mumsnet and don't know what it is 🙈

froglou · 28/11/2016 10:42

Does anyone know of a website/guide to Prams, as I have no idea what I'm looking for (or why some are £100 and some are £900!)

NameChange30 · 28/11/2016 11:00

carol Glad your little one has been moving lots Smile

Genghis Well we've bought all the big things (pushchair, car seat, cot) which is a relief! I think we still have plenty of smaller things to buy (changing bag, bottles, clothes etc) but I won't worry about that until after Christmas now.

Cloey I think it's an indoor play area with lots of squishy things so that toddlers don't hurt themselves?

froglou I read the buying guides and reviews on Which and MadeForMums:
www.which.co.uk/reviews/pushchairs/article/how-to-buy-the-right-pushchair/how-to-buy-the-best-pushchair
www.madeformums.com/reviews-and-shopping/shopping-guides/travel-system-buyers-guide/8296.html
I spent a lot of time researching online when I should have been working but you can also just go to the shop, because you obviously can't beat looking at the actual pushchairs. Mothercare and John Lewis were both good. I also watched some video reviews on YouTube, the Baby Gizmo ones were good, which is helpful if there is a model you want to check out but the shops near you don't have it.

Butterpuff · 28/11/2016 11:01

Hi all, we have been away so I haven't been chatting. Good to hear that we have lots of kicking even if it is sometimes muffled by the placenta (I had that with dd) and lots of shopping.

Cloey softplay is like the inner circle of hell. Its a place that children run riot on an indoor playground with lots of soft mats and things to absorb falls. Generally they have ball pools, slides, tunnels to climb through, bits to climb up some have trampolines. They are split into different areas for different age children but half the parents have no control of their children (like to sit and chat while drinking coffee rather than watching the children) so when you take your precious little one you find they quite often get squashed by an older child if your not very observant. These places often serve overpriced under nutritioned food as well. They are great for burning off energy if you can cope with the chaos. I think most would be improved by the addition of lockers so that while you chase you little one around your belongings are safe in a locker rather than being abandoned in a seating area. That said aside from the trauma of a visit I've enjoyed taking dd because she enjoys it. and sometimes you come across an older child in the toddler and baby areas who just wants to play mum and it can be really sweet to watch. They definitely have pros and cons!!

We are buys trying to buy a second hand travel system. We didn't think about the second child when we bought ours and now need a double or a tandem. When we bought ours (Babystyle Oyster 2 with carry cots, seat and car seat which I recommend for people who are space limited) we didn't think about needing to fit two on. Babystyle also do a Max which is a different chassis that fits all the same accessories. So we are looking for a second hand one of those to upgrade. Thought id mention it in case anyone having their first wants to plan ahead for a second. Several chassis can be used as a single or a double and it might save money in the future.

We have also just bought a drop side cot. DD will be swapping into it as I cant reach the bottom of her cot anymore! Then baby will have that and she will upgrade to her current combed in toddler bed formation in about 8 months from now when she is 2.5. I think its time I started buying cute stuff like babygrows rather than hardwear now though. Much more fun.

Last note on my essay. Saturday we had a countdown selfie. 100 days until we meet baby. Grin

I'm jealous you got a weight!

I don't think we did. Pleased your happy to be home Hugh. Loving the new bump. Are you getting tons of movement. Little one starts swimming laps with kick turns at 5am every morning! I love it. Time really should go quickly.

MimisMummy12 · 30/11/2016 15:52

Butterpuff · 30/11/2016 16:26

Welcome mimis. I'm also due my 2nd on 6th March. We have been a bit quite on here recently. You may want to join the fb group that is linked in the opening post. I don't use it myself but I am presuming it gets more traffic than here if you want to chat Smile

Carolann8584 · 30/11/2016 18:51

Hi ladles

Glad to hear you are home and well, lovely to hear your LO is getting nice and squishes Grin

Not been on here much, woke up on Monday with what felt like a golf ball in my throat, now it feels like razor blades. Was feeling really sorry for myself

Tried to cheer myself up doing some online Xmas shopping this afternoon, perked up a bit now

Carolann8584 · 30/11/2016 18:52

Wow - three weeks in hospital Hugh - no wonder you couldn't wait to get home! I have no experience of low iron - I hope the galfer works!

I hope you are feeling better Carol?

Welcome Mimis, and hello to everyone else!

Carolann8584 · 02/12/2016 07:51

Hi all, still feeling pretty crap, feeling really down at the moment which seems silly as I'm supposed to be giddy and getting ready for my LO but can't get motivated

Cloeycat · 02/12/2016 16:01

Hugh have you toy show excitement in your house this evening? It's always the start of Christmas for my family- and as new baby will be first in my close family I do mean me and my siblings who are all 20+ years old 😳

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 03/12/2016 02:55

Sorry you're feeling down Carol Flowers I hope you enjoy the weekend and start feeling better.

I hope you enjoyed the toy show Cloey and Hugh - I haven't seen it in years unfortunately Xmas Sad

Carolann8584 · 03/12/2016 14:59

Feeling much better, well still have razor blades in my throat but my mood has definitely perked up Grin

Sorted through my little lady's goodies from MIL, she has bought quite a lot so between my DM and MIL my LO will be dressed to impress. We have only bought about 3 items lol

Started on buying muslins squares etc today, just added to our weekly shop so don't really notice the cost. Trying to buy little bits here and there now up to Xmas so will buy any big items in the New year

Started Xmas shopping yesterday as well, tree and decs going up over the weekend, very excited

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend Flowers

huge I actually had to do a little tally for 0-3 3-6 and 6-9 months just to see what we have been given from our mums to see where we had enough or needed more. DMIL bought quite a bit for 0-3 so think just a few more bibs etc and we will be set for March.

Is it bad luck to have the pram at home before the baby is born? Never heard this before but my SIL has mentioned it.
