Can't wait for the 1st mother 2 weeks and counting Smile

HerRoyalNotness · 18/10/2016 22:13

What a bargain carol. Makes sens to buy in the sales.

My appt ended up not being a scan! Argh, all that jigging around. Anyway DH got to hear her heartbeat for about 5secs and was happy with that. It was nice to have him along for a change. He flew out to Oz last night, roll on Xmas! It'll be funny for him as I'll be massive when he gets back.

I bought this sweet romper from little bird the other week, couldn't resist. I still have all of the things we bought for Dd1 that she didn't get to use, so I'm happy they will have an owner, I haven't been able to pass them on. We don't need much and I've being sorting out the boys baby clothes to a more manageable keepsake level (in case we move next year) and found a few bits that we can reuse from that too.

It is so lovely reading this thread! I'm so enjoying reading everyone's plans preparing for babies. It makes everything very real, though, doesn't it?!

DP is getting kicked around at the moment - though the baby seems always to go quiet when she is active. I hear that's normal, anyone know? I can't feel the kicks yet - I can feel the odd movement, but I can't be sure if it's the baby, really! Grin

Does anyone else still have sickness, btw?

Abacha · 19/10/2016 02:18

We don't really have to buy much as all the stuff from last year are in my sister's loft at the moment. We will be bringing them down in January.

We always thought we wanted dc close together in age so we bought the Uppababy vista as you can add a 2nd seat to make it a tandem push chair. So now we're expecting twins, we've just ordered the 2nd seat as prices have increased everywhere except a couple of places. I'm really happy with our choice and the Uppababy always gets load of good reviews. I've decided not to order a 2nd carrycot yet and to see how we get on. So we will be using the carrycot that came with the vista and a car seat. I know there's an issue with not being in carseat for more than 2 hours but if that happens which should be rare, I will just switch the babies around.

The only thing left to buy apart from more baby gros is an isofix base. I bought my travel system in a baby show last year February and got a free car seat and loads of extras, later on, the company I bought it from, were selling an ex display car seat and isofix base that's also compatible with my pram so I bought it too especially since the car seat reclined flat so the 2hour rule didn't apply.

The idea was to sell the free one. I listed it on eBay the day before I was induced and it sold 5 days later which coincided with when I gave birth. The woman who bought it was asking loads of questions that were answered in original post and although I said collection, she wanted me to arrange courier. I knew by then that my baby was really ill and I couldn't be bothered with dealing with it so I offered her a refund.

I never got round to listing it again so all I have to do now is buy a 2nd isofix base.

Anyone in London going to the baby show this weekend at Olympia?

SuperDuperJezebel · 19/10/2016 06:44

Hi LRD, apparently when we are active, it rocks baby to sleep, which is why babies often arrive on the completely wrong time zone, sleep wise to us. I'm not feeling sick at all really, except for odd moments like seeing pictures of lizards! Or when DH ate bone marrow last night. Think a few others in the FB group are though still.

charlybs · 19/10/2016 07:58

Congrats missclarke Smile

LRD my OH would be so jealous of you maybe feeling kicks! Hopefully not long for us now. He will also see the scan next week (next Wednesday so a week today) - he hasn't seen the baby moving around since 7 weeks so he's really looking forward to it.

Abacha yes I'm off to the Baby Show - hoping to pick up a few discounted things! We're going on Sunday, what day are you heading down?

Butterpuff · 19/10/2016 09:23

Congrats Miss Clarke.

Our scan is on the 1st as well, its going to be a busy day. I've double booked though, have an assessment at work which I've either got to pay to postpone or talk someone else into taking for me and training up to do it. I don't think I'll be able to rearrange scan as it includes a specialist from GOS for the cardiac part due to baby's condition. Ah well, life would be boring if it were easy........

I'm busy trying to buy a second hand oyster max chassis on ebay so that I can re-use my seat, carry cot and carseat from my current system and just add a tandem.

If anyone is looking for a light, small travel system I recommend Oyster as I've loved ours and I've fitted it in the boot of my mini convertible!

Only sick in the evenings here now. Really enjoying feeling some movement, but to get the movement its very tempting to scoff my body weight in chocolate as it sets baby off moving. Grin

Carolann8584 · 19/10/2016 10:12

Not had much sickness but then again my appetite has disappeared, forcing myself to eat and getting gentle encouragement from OH to eat. Beany needs food even if I don't feel like it. Still haven't finished my Jaffa cakes started last week!! lol Shameful I know!

x

ahsan · 19/10/2016 10:52

Congrats miss, got my scan in November too but having it when I'm 22 weeks Blush so have to wait alittle longer.

Dozygirl · 19/10/2016 12:31

No sickness here but still almost puke if I get a hint of really bad smells like trumps or if dp does a number 2 😷

So I missed my scan today grrrr. So mad with myself. It was at 9am and I was adamant it was 10am. Couldn't squeeze me in today so I'm back Friday at 8:45 so at least it's not long to wait. I was so excited though and desperate to know what it is. I can feel it wriggling though so I know it's OK in there at least.

Carolann8584 · 19/10/2016 12:44

Awww dozy at least you don't have to wait too long

I can't feel any wiggling Sad

Imavinoops · 19/10/2016 12:44

Hello everyone!
We had our 20 week scan today and its a girl! ☺
On the topic of sickness I've been fine since about 12 weeks but it came back with a vengeance last night which is pretty weird and random! Currently snuggled up in red trying to feel better while DP entertains the toddler downstairs 😆

BeccaSays · 19/10/2016 13:07

Congrats to everyone on your lovely scan news. Mine is on Monday! We have decided to ask the sonographer to write the sex down in a card and seal in an envelope then have a family get together for a 'reveal' Grin

ahsan · 19/10/2016 13:15

LRDtheFeministDragon

I'm still vomiting. Vomited 3 times yesterday so I'm one of the unlucky ones 😊

MotherofA · 19/10/2016 13:26

What a lovely idea beccasays !
On sickness , with my first DD ten years ago I was sick pretty much every day the whole way through . Now , 10 years on and another DD I was sick daily for a couple of months and it has mostly eased off now . I was sick once last week but that was the first time in a few weeks . Feel sick now and again but that's it . Smile

NameChange30 · 19/10/2016 13:33

If anyone has found out the sex or will be finding out soon, feel free to update the spreadsheet Smile

Congrats Ima!

Dustycorners · 19/10/2016 14:33

Congratulations to everyone who has had scan so far this week! Lovely to hear lots of good news.

I had mine on Monday and both babies are looking well, which is a huge relief. One is definitely a boy and the other looks like a girl at the moment (will ask them to check again at the next scan in case another willy has appeared!). I will update the spreadsheet when next on a PC.

Butter I am considering the Oyster Max. I need an inline double as the pavements round here are stupidly narrow. I'd like to get away with not getting carrycots as it was a waste of money for DS, and both seats on the current model can lie flat, so I could potentially get two newborns in there. Did you use a carrycot for your dc? What is the seat like for a newborn to lie flat? I am also thinking of getting it second hand.

I'm just starting to get kicks big enough to see/feel on the outside, so I'm hoping dh will be able to feel it soon (they stop moving as soon as he puts his hand on, of course!).

Sickness all gone here, thank goodness, as it was v bad until 16 weeks, then started to tail off. Sympathy to those still suffering, it's truly horrible.

Butterpuff · 19/10/2016 14:41

Dusty we used the carry cot with DD far longer than we should have! She was sitting up in it looking around before we switched to the seat. However a friend with a baby the same age also had the oyster and she used the seat in lie flat position form the start. Its quite supportive and you can also get additional inserts to make it even more so I think. My friend put lovely cozy things in there! I love my Oyster, its really small and narrow, we live in an old town with tiny pavements and tiny shops and I don't have the same access problems other buggy users do. There is a babystyle fb page that is dedicated to buying, selling and advice on their products I've seen loads of oysters and oyster max on there. I'm just waiting for one nearby so its free collection. Also boy girl twins was my absolute dream.

Yesterday DD way snuggling on my belly and I'm sure I felt baby giving her a little kick!

Dustycorners · 19/10/2016 14:55

Thanks for the info Butter, really helpful.

I am waiting for the day DS gets booted by one of his siblings through my tummy - he won't know what to make of it! He has been pointing out my bump for a couple of months now, but at 18 months he has no concept of there being anything in there.

HerRoyalNotness · 19/10/2016 14:59

Weirdly apples are making me vomit. I tried one again this morning and got to the second slice before I could feel it starting, had to spit it out and avoided it, but know I now for sure, apples are off the menu!

For teeny strollers, I follow a guy called Jamie who is the baby guy, he's at the trade show in Las Vegas and showed the pockit plus stroller. They fold down to the size of a backpack. The new one can take a car seat and has a recline. Great for tiny cars or travelling. US$280 but not released until next year

Dozygirl · 19/10/2016 15:08

butter I'm sure mine kicks more when dd is being particularly noisy near me on when sat on me. Probably telling her to shut up heehee
