A truly lovely 8lb 2oz baby girl delivered yesterday, no name quite agreed on yet, back home and feeding well.

Delivery was, frankly, beyond horrific, but then I'm a coward.

Worth it, though.

MrsJohnCusack · 24/02/2007 01:13

oh congratulations 12yeargap!

nothing here. NOTHING.

mears · 24/02/2007 01:31

Lucyb9384 · 24/02/2007 08:36

We came home monday night but have been bombarded with visitors so couldn't get on to tell you all - hope you are all ok.

Congratulations Lucyb, time for tea and 12 years gap!!

hairycaterpillar · 24/02/2007 16:50

Congratulations Lucyb and T4T!

CurrantBun · 24/02/2007 16:50

Congrats to the new arrivals. Torin is a lovely name.

Well, survived the night without a car and hubby has picked up hire car this morning (fortunately we don't have to pay for it as our own car is still under warranty, and Nissan are obliged to give us a replacement while ours is repaired as there's such a long lead-in time for the new part).

Feeling less uncomfortable today but baby feels very low when I'm walking around, so I have constant pressure on my bladder, bowel and perineum (at least, that's how it feels). Have the odd dull period-like ache but I wouldn't say they're painful or crampy. Hopefully it can't be too much longer now ... EDD on Monday.

hairycaterpillar · 24/02/2007 16:50

oh and congratulations 12yeargap too!

leahsmum · 24/02/2007 22:06

Finding it really difficult catching up these days - SORRY!
Congratulations to all the new mummies and babies since i last logged on.
As you prob see from mears post - it would appear I have been sussed by fello MNetter! Not sure what gave me away but apparently she a mw at maternity hospital where I had dd2 - almost delviered my baby by the looks of things! It really is a small world.

mummy2jake · 24/02/2007 23:09

congratulations to everyone who have had their babies since i was last on will get chance to post on all your birth announcement threads son hopefully take care xx

snugglebumnappies · 25/02/2007 08:38

Congratulations 12yeargap, time4tea and Lucyb.

Well it's getting more and more "depressing" logging on to here everyday to see all these babies arriving! Not so much that I haven't had mine yet, just because not long ago we were all full of, what prams, carseats to buy, when we were finishing work, etc and now everyone is so busy with teir LO (as they should be) it seems so empty here!

Well I can see myself being here till end of March at least! Had two weeks of on/off contractions, baby pretty deeply engaged, no show (but didn't have one with DS untill well into labour and I was 5 cm before I even realised I was in labour with him!). Have seen my m/w this week and told her that she will prob miss the birth as I am not going to believe I am in labour untill I feel and urge to push now as these contractions have had me fooled a few times and I end up being disapointed when they finally go off. Not ready to have baby at the moment though as full of a stinking head cold and feeling a bit "fluy" so really don't feel I have the energy yet. EDD is tomorrow and then only a few days and we are into March, so it looks like I miht be having a March baby instead!

DrJo · 25/02/2007 11:08

Still here despite contractions all Thursday night, most of Friday and some more last night. Poor DH is knackered and nervous- I seem to have a really twitchy uterus Still booked for a section on Tuesday but if I have made any progress over the weekend (even only 1cm) I will ask if they can delay until Thursday (T+16). So I will be having a March baby too

Many Congrats to T4T 12yg and Lucy

Hi Sorry I was silent for a while, probs with the laptop power lead again and the battery is completely knackered so no PC for me! Congrats to new arrivals TFT, 12year and lucy. And comiserations to those who are left. Its the same story in my house - lots of encouraging signs that are just teasing me. Intrigued by the lots of mucus = show opinion Currantbun. Have been having loads more CM but since its quite thin and clear didn't think it could be described as 'a plug' in any shape or form. Then bumpy car ride woke baby up yesterda and had about an hour and a half of really painful KNUF. Followed by achey period pains which all died off in time for bed. The only good thing is that I have had two or three good nights in a row now so feeling quite rested.
Snugglebum laughing at your not realising you were in labour until you were 5cm. That is so like my experience. So thick that I didn't believe my waters had gone but thought I had been lazy with my pevic floor exercises, I went in to a meeting at work, persuaded my DH to go to work as well, drove myself to hospital mid morning (when I had a break in my day!) to get checked out 'just in case' to find that waters had gone and I was 3cm! Needless to say, not let home and sent up to antenatal ward. Sat there all day with nothing happening at all (so I thought). Then 11pm woken by nurse to have my temp taken to check for infection since waters gone and couldn't get back to sleep due to period pain. Had a bath, got out due to contractions, spent the next hour trying to persuade the mws to let me goto delivery but they didn't think I was far enough along cos not screaming in agony. Eventually after 30 mins on a monitor one of them examined me and said "Oh you're 10cm, the baby's nearly here" at which point I went balistic, got scared and started to screech! DS born at 1.30pm DH had 10 mins to spare from arriving at the hospital.

Am hoping for the same relatively painfree first stage and a much calmer second stage this time round, but all at home!

CurrantBun · 25/02/2007 18:43

FFT, that's what worries me the most - being in labour but just not realising it. I'm not convinced that the mucus I've been leaking over the past few days or so is the 'show' either - just seems like heavier-than-normal CM to me. Have had a few period-like pains but they don't seem to be amounting to anything. Belly is rock-hard and gets really uncomfortable whenever I get a Braxton Hicks contraction.

EDD is tomorrow but they base them on a regular 28-day cycle. Mine was always at least 32 days, sometimes longer. I reckon I'll be having a March baby to be honest. Just don't want to go too far from my EDD as absolutely DO NOT want to have to go through an induced birth. Determined to avoid at all cost.

Just really want baby out now - am sleeping OK still (surprisingly) but everything else is uncomfortable. The simple task of shaving my legs this morning seemed to take forever and felt like incredibly hard work. The first of my antenatal group babies arrived this morning - three days early. Felt quite envious when I go the text as she was due two days after me!

Had a fairly hot curry last night (well, as hot as I could deal with anyway, being a bit of a korma girl usually), and drank a gallon of freshly-pressed pineapple juice (not sure whether it contains the relevant enzyme but really couldn't be arsed with the hassle of preparing a whole fresh pineapple). Today hubby and I went for a walk of about 4 miles to try to encourage baby to come out. Haven't gone down the sex route yet although may have to if things don't happen soon!!

Alocin · 25/02/2007 21:07

Hi All

Just a quickie - Patrick James was born at 8.39pm on 22 Feb, weighing in at 9lbs 4oz. He's beautiful and very alert, the labour was horrendous. More gory details when I get round to it on the birth announcements.

Well done all other new babies, and good luck everyone else!

Tommy · 25/02/2007 21:20

Hello all - just a quick, very belated, message to let you know that baby Oscar was born on Friday 16th Feb at 9.37pm.

After a very smooth labour and birth at home only helped by gas and air, I suddenly lost loads of blood and had to go to hospital to have an emergency D&C and blood transfusion. I was on 3 types of Antibiotics and spent 2 days on "High Care" before spending the rest of the week on a general post natal ward.

We came home yesterday and everything seems to be going OK. My milk finally came in today and Oscar is feeding like a good'un. He is obviously also completely gorgeous.

Not really the birth story I had planned but at least we have our healthy baby and I am on the mend too now.

andyrobo237 · 26/02/2007 08:50

Hello to all those left waiting - Thomas should have ben born on Saturday just gone (but came at 38+) so I can sympathise with the waiting! Your time will come, but a few of the bubas will be March babies - but you will all still belong to the Feb thread postnatally!!!

It is interesting to see the split of boys to girls - fairly even at the moment!

See you all soon on the other side!

forgottenfreetime · 26/02/2007 11:29

Congrats to Alocin and Tommy. Its a shame that after a smooth labour you had complications Tommy. Hope you are making a speedy recovery and not too tired, although impossible not to I would imagine with a new baby and blood loss.

Currantbun, in a way not knowing you're in labour is great - you just get on with your day/night and especially for family and DH/DP they don't have time to get tired or bored with hours of nothing much happenening. Because you are relaxed your body works better praps too? I wouldn't mind that part so much again. However, I would definitely be more assertive witht he midwives this time to take me seriously/examine me when I felt the time was right. I think that they were waiting until I said I wanted pain relief to base their judgements on which obviously wasn't right for me last time. Unfortunately I am only too aware that this time may be completely different!

On another not I've been putting off buying my chosen pushchair - a Phil and Teds double for months now. Basically cos its so expensive. However, months of market research have not managed to convince me that a) I can do without a double (don't want to carry a baby in a sling for months and DS is too lively to be trusted to walk beside me in the street; and b) that anything else will do (well obviously it would do but I've got the "I WANT THAT ONE" feeling). I've been avidly watching ebay to see if they are any cheaper but it seems that they hold their price well and I would pay about £50 less than if I bought new over the net. When I've mentioned this to DH in the past he's said "Oh buy it new, that's not worth it". I was all ready to purchase on Saturday when DH said "Do we really need this pushchair?" I tried to explain that it was a decision rather like the new car he'd bought over the summer. He could have gone on driving his old ford escort but it was much nicer to have a new audi. Unfortunately he's a bit too literal and started to defend his decision to buy the car and so pushchair dilemma is still unresolved. This is a bit of a new situation for me because normally I buy everything second hand, bargain basement. Got all of DSs stuff at a NCT sale. I tend to buy whats good value not necessarily what I want, but this time I have this WHY should I compromise? feeling which is proving very difficult to shake. On the other hand I know only to well that this pushchair is going on the credit card not being paid for with cash so.... shouldn't really! Help any opinions or ideas on haow to decide?!!!! Sorry such a long post. FFT

SmudgeMum · 26/02/2007 11:30

Congratulations to all the new arrivals. Glad all are healthy even if they didn't quite come in the way you had planned! It's definitely getting quieter on this thread snugglebumnappies but you won't be on your own, lots of people will keep checking in and offering encouragement and support.

fuzzyduck · 26/02/2007 11:40

Thought I would say hello, I have not really posted much before. But I due 24th Feb and can completely relate to everyone still waiting for their Feb babes. I already have 2 DS aged 3 and 4 and really hoped this baby would be born on time.. Oh well just have to keep waiting

CurrantBun · 26/02/2007 13:30

I'm still waiting too - EDD today. Lots of crampy niggles and some lower back ache today, but no sign of any real action.

I had a weird experience this morning. Was in the bedroom getting undressed for my shower when I felt a bit of a trickle and something dripped on to the carpet. It was only a small amount and I've been having much heavier discharge over the past week or so, so I assumed that's what it was. As I turned on the shower and got in I felt as though a lot more fluid was leaking out - but because I was in the shower I really couldn't tell or check. I may have just peed (sorry if TMI but the shower has been having that effect on me over the last week or so, since the pressure on my bladder and pelvis has been so strong). So not sure if it was my waters or not. I'm assuming not because I put a panty liner on after my shower and there has been no further dribbling - and I've moved about quite a bit as well as doing a pile of ironing standing up. So I guess it wasn't anything but for a moment there I was hopeful.

We were told at antenatal classes that if our waters break, we should ring the hospital and go in to be checked. Trouble is that our car is in the garage being repaired and I'm not insured to drive the hire car they've given us until ours is fixed (plus hubby drove it to the station this morning as he was running late). I don't want to have the hassle of getting a cab there to discover that it wasn't my waters at all. On the other hand, I'm obviously concerned about the possibility of infection if my waters have broken. Think I'll just carry on monitoring things until hubby gets home - if need be I can always go to the hospital later this evening to be checked.
