...just peeking in to say "hello currantbun" was thinking of you over on the runners thread and waiting for your exciting news! Good luck.

.... slopes off again!

suis · 26/02/2007 14:01

Just dropping in to say hello. Things are improving for us since we got home. Alexander is now largely feeding from me via a nipple shield and has taken to marathon sleeping sessions !!! (It can't last !) so consequently I'm feeling much better too !

FFF - just buy it... if money can be found for new audis it can be found for a decent pushchair. It's important to get something that will work for you or you'll end up getting stuck in the house if it's too much of a nightmare trying to get both DCs sorted. Besides anyone looking after two deserves all the help they can get, and however much bargain shopping someone does they still deserve to get some nice splashout things once in a while.

CB - fingers crossed for you !

Thanks suis I am just about to do just that. Dh came back and said ok so all stations go

snugglebumnappies · 26/02/2007 16:04

Congratulations Alocin and Tommy.

FFT, I have the same problem, DD is 23 months and no way can I let her walk anywhere, she would be straight into the road and she wouldn't stand still on a buggy board either. I have bought a maclaren twin buggy for the back of my car as I only have a small boot, however I have a mountain buggy for DD at the moment and no way can I justify the £600 plus for a double version so I am going to start with the single and the sling for walking the dog, taking DS to school, etc and if I find that impractical then I will splash out on a phil and ted double as it is slightly cheaper than the MB. I don't see it as OTT, if I can't manage the everyday things that I need to do with two little ones then I am stuck so I would say it's a neccesity!

CB, sounds like it may still have been CM you have lost, especially if nothing else has drained. Don't worry about not realising you are in labour, it was actually wonderful, I hadn't even felt the contractions, just slept throug it all, woke up to go to the loo and on the way back my waters broke, so went to hospital to find out I was 5cm, midwives could palpate contractions but I couldn't feel a thing.....mind you with DD, my second, had painful contractions from the start, every 2 mins! When I said to my friend, who was also my m/w, "why didn't it hurt like this last time?" she told me it was because I was young and stupid then!!

sallyn · 26/02/2007 17:38

...just dropped in to catch up on all the news, while baby Noah's asleep on his dad's chest. we're all blissed out. so pleased all the babies are coming out peaches, even if us mums are suffering a bit.

for those going out of their heads waiting for things to begin like I was, the delay in noah's arrival (13 days late) was definitely the worst part of my pregnancy, but now it seems like a world away, and I just wish I'd done those last few things that I now know I'll never get around to, including topping out on sleep. imo the more prepared you can be for the baby's arrival (ie, not having to go and buy Lansinoh and more nappies on your first day home!), the smoother your life will be.

also, next time I'm going to tell everybody my due date is two weeks later than it is to stop all those irritating 'has it happened yet?' phone calls.

love and wonder x

flowertot · 26/02/2007 19:14

Sorry to be so slow. Split with hubby, moved house, no internet - been a busy few weeks. Charlie Alexander born Feb 11, 2 weeks early - hooray! Woke 1am with niggles, drove to mums wondering if real thing or false alarm. 2am contractions quite uncomfy. 2.30am contractions agony and into hospital. 3.15am, one push and there he was! Tea toast and bath later and was back in bed at Mums wondering how early I could text people! DD aged 3 woke up in the morning and there was the baby!
Sorry to those of you who had a hard time, but believe me I needed a break and a good labour was one was at least consolation for the rest of the crap in my life!
Good luck all, aren't they gorgeous!

forgottenfreetime · 26/02/2007 19:36

What an amazing labour story flowertot. Agree that you 'have deserved a good one', only hope that I can have a similar experience out of good luck!

You'd definitely get a continous flow if it was waters CB even if only a small trickle - the aminotic fluid is continuosly replaced. The way I've read to check the difference between stress incontinence and waters is to lie down for 10 mins and if you get a gush when you get up (slowly and gently) it's waters, since they will have been collecting while you lay down.

MoosMa · 26/02/2007 20:41

FFT, enjoy your P&T, I used mine as a double for the first time today and absolutely love it! It's really light and easy to push and DD2 looked soooo snuggly on the bottom bit! Also the plastic cover over the back makes a good viewing window for little babies so they don't get old people poking them!

ja9 · 26/02/2007 21:00

hi everyone. great to read updates. so glad things are better suis. i'm still here without bub. got date for induction next week. just cannot wait to meet my lo...

peachygirl · 27/02/2007 11:15

Congrats Tommy and alocin

Bienchen · 27/02/2007 15:17

Just to say a quick congrats to all the new Mums and hope that the long wait is over soon for those of you with bumps!!!

We have lost internet connection at home and I have to use the facilities at the local library to catch up - with a rationed allocation of time to boot!!!!

Will read all your birth announcements when we are up and running again.

Snugglebumnappies - thanks for getting the nursing bra through to me - perfect timing. And thanks for the pressies!!!

Baby Catherine is doing well despite a short bout of jaundice but no light therapy needed. Relief!!!

And guess what - I am back at college tomorrow (for half a day only). I think I'll tell them the bay is called Flora Rosa Daucus Carota as it is a horticultural degree I am studying for

suis · 27/02/2007 15:36

Hi Ja9 - so sorry that you're still waiting. Fingers crossed for you that you still get the homebirth you want. There's time yet ! A quick walk or drive up the Old Town over all those cobbles might get things going !

forgottenfreetime · 27/02/2007 16:21

Bienchen what are you doing going in to college so soon!!!!! YOU'VE HAD A BABY!!!! Seriously, you must have more energy than most newborn mums to even contemplate it! Good luck to you!

Burstingwithpride · 28/02/2007 06:47

Hello everyone this is Dontcallmeyummy's mummy here letting you know that DCMY's beautiful son (Reuben) was born on Friday 23rd February at 8.08pm. After a 34 hour labour with no pain relief whatsoever she gave birth naturally. The journey for both mother and baby was rough and unfortunately for DCMY she had four deep internal injuries and lost 1.7 litres of blood. It was also at the this time that Reuben was rushed to Intensive Care with a hole in his lung. They are both still in hospital and hopefully Reuben will be transferring from Intensive Care to Special Care very shortly. I am sure that DCMY will put a birth announcement and join you all in the post-natal thread when she is well enough. I incidentially have been reading your thread with interest and congratulate you all for your support of each other. Take Care and have lots of fun with those precious babies! XXX

MrsJohnCusack · 28/02/2007 10:23

Congrats to DCMY and ja9. Really hope you make a good recovery DCMY - sounds like it was quite an ordeal for you and hope that Reubens lung prob is sorted quickly too. It must be frightening to have to deal with that when you're not on top form yourself.

Now my working out says that Dr Jo will have had a c section if not given birth just beforehand by now and the others are way overdue so likely to have been induced so its just the 4 of us left - MrsJC, CB (who I reckon has had her baby since no posts for a while), Snugglebum and me! Well I had lots of BH yesterday evening and was awake between 2 and 4am with tummy ache but LO has decided its too comfy in there to really make the effort to come out and everything's gone quiet again. We're starting to get the phonecalls now (has the baby arrived?) No one including us can believe I acually made it to my due date! Oh well, nine days to go to probable induction date so there is a limit to the waiting now. Hope everyone is getting on fabulously with their new babies and other children.

snugglebumnappies · 28/02/2007 16:17

Congratulations to DCMY, hope both yourself and Ruben ar back home soon.

Also congrats to ja9

FFT yes I gess that leaves only a few of us! Am pretty sure CB must have had her baby by now, I was obviously wrong spectulating that it wasn't her waters going! Not much going on here after over two weeks of on/off contractions. Came down with a stinking head cold at the weekend and feel quite "fluey" am absolutly knackered with it so my body appears to have given up! Am lucky that there is no pressure for induction as I am not booked at a hospital so am prob going to wait till at least 42 weeks before I make my decision, there will be no induction, I don't think it is at all safe with a previous c/s so it will be when do I want a c/s and how long will I wait. Will be 42 weeks on 12th March ans DD is 2 on the18th so I'm thinking either dead on 42 weeks or wait till I am 43 and have a scan and ctg monitoring in the meantime...hmmm, well lets hope he arrives before that or I will be stuck on this thread talking to myself!! Roll on March!

suis · 28/02/2007 19:15

BWP - please pass on all our best wishes to DCMY, it sounds like she's had a pretty rough time of it. I thought I had a long labour but I think that sets a new record. Everyone will be hoping she and Reuben are both recovered very very soon.

Ja9 - as I've just said on your announcement, that's wonderful news. So glad that it all worked out as planned in the end.

Also, if anyone wants a look, I've posted a couple of pics of Alexander... (at least I think I have !)

forgottenfreetime · 01/03/2007 15:23

Ok Surely I'm not the only one left?!!!! Trying to keep busy here - mowed our very small lawn this morning, but bored now!

snugglebumnappies · 01/03/2007 16:09

FFT no I think it's you and me! Still not much going on, getting everything ready for the baby show that I have a stall at on Sun, looking forward to that and hoping there is no labour prior to then. Have been out with DD my nephew and SIL to a huge soft play area this afternoon, struggling to keep up with DD, the 23 month old with no fear! She always wants to climb right to the top and go on all the big slides etc, many thanks to SIL for helping me out! Am out for lunch and play with my best friend and her daughter tomorrow and just trying to keep busy. Will prob need a big rest on Mon after 10 hours on my feet on Sun, but like I said I am really looking forward t6o it, have loads of new products that should go well and there are a few people who have been in touch about buying nappies who are going to attend to see all the products "in real life"! Well Ds is at after school club and DD happily sat eating a huge bowl of strawberries so better get on with preparing tea.

marmitemad · 01/03/2007 20:06

well the sweep clearly did the trick for me (last Thursday 22nd Feb).
I gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Abigail Rose at 01:25am on 24th Feb. Delivery was an amazing experience which went exactly as I planned (TENS and gas and air only, active delivery) until the third stage when I suffered a retained placenta and had an attempted manual removal (vvv painful) but ended up in theatre for a surgical removal under spinal.
We have only just come home from hospital as we have been struggling with BF (but we are persevering/expressing) and Abigail became dehydrated on Monday.
Will post full gory birth details on birth announcement thread.
Congratulations to all new arrivals and mums in the week I have been away.
