SBN and Dr Jo congrats and lovely names. Glad the birth went well in both cases - at least they let you try Dr Jo. I hope the feeding eases up for you - happy pumping! and that you get lots of support. I remember trying to have a go at feeding my godson with a sqeezy bottle but him not being impressed with my ability! SBN I hope your rear end recovers soon - no tears with a big baby is very impressive.
MrsJC you'll be reading this in retrospect but at least everyone should be with their LO now. We've only got 2 babies that we haven't heard about which I think is really impressive. Well done everyone for posting and keeping us updated. Now we just have to get through the next 18 years!

Gosh I've missed a lot of baby announcements in the last week! My excuse is that I have been rather busy with my own . Kimberley Ann was born on 27th Feb. She was a very healthy 8lb 8oz She arrived by emergency CS rather than a planned one after I persuaded the consultant to let me have a trial of labour which started with them breaking my waters. Unfortuneately despite 8hrs of labour and a syntosen drip I never got beyond 4cm dilated hence the cs .

Kim is beautiful but we have had difficulty getting feeding established as she has a cleft lip (we knew this from the 20 wk scan) and a cleft soft palate at the back of the mouth (undetected from the scan). That means she cannot suck so I can't breastfeed and I am having to express milk for her and then bottle feed using a special bottle and teat. It is all very time consuming but she is thriving and it is worth it.

Congrats to all the other new mums and arrivals - Hope things go well for you Mrs JC

Baby Charlie George finally put in an appearance at 0443 this morning, after a very quick 3 hr 43 min active labour. Weighed 8lb 10oz, so not as small as the hosp thought. Born at home in the pool, no tear but my bottom end is killing me!! Sorry Mrs JC but your day is only a short while away now, good luck!

Hello All - no I'm not the most overdue mum in history, Baby Spud arrived on 16th Feb weighing just over 8lbs. Being a bit dithery we haven't yet got a name. DH hates 'Dante' not sure where I got that from but it sounds dashing and cosmopolitan to me, and I'm not sure about 'Elliott' which although it is a nice name reminds me of ET.

Great birth (although I do remember telling DH that I was never going to do that again - oh like I did last time) and the midwives at the edgeware Birth Centre are the BEST in the world. They gave us peace and encouragement and even though my blood pressure was very high held out against transferring me to hospital.

It was a water birth with a bit of gas and air towards the end to take the edge off, but you'll all be pleased to know that as a second birth it was a lot quicker than the first. Now I'm just waiting for my insides to 'snap' back into position...

maybe SBN has progressed now?
I am resigned to induction tomorrow. if it all works quickly, won't be back home til around Sat/Sun

Saw Chacha in birth announcements so I shall do one more stats update.....

Hello hello, I'm sorry snugglebum and Mrs JC but the deed is done here. Started contractions at 3.00am Monday morning - every 10 mins until 5am when they eased off to 1/2hrly and I fell asleep until 7ish. Stayed every 1/2 hour until 11.30 is when started to pick up to 20 mins but were really quite strong and I phoned the midwives. We started to fill the pool but when mw arrived she felt it was too soon so we stopped. She left at 12.30 saying she'd let the afternoon and overnight on call mws know the situation but we'd got her back by 1.30 when cx every five mins and really strong. Got in pool and bliss when gas and air arrived (well as near to bliss as you get in labour). And.... dd Ruth Isabel was born in the pool at 3.29pm.

FFT, yes my pool has been fantastic, worth every penny! I use it most days and we have to change the water every 7 days, when I start to get twitched that baby is coming, silly me I should know better! Now 41 weeks so this is the longest preg I have ever had, DD was born at 41 weeks but I started to labour on the night of 40+6, oh I do hope he gets a move on as I can't bear the thought of waiting till 43 weeks for a cs but also don't think that logistically a cs at 42 weeks would be right for the family! Hope both you and MrsJC are well and expeiencing lots of contractions!
