Dustycorners · 26/08/2016 22:48

Welcome to all the new ladies!

neonrainbow · 26/08/2016 23:22

Hello new people :) I'm just going to wear normal loose tops for now but H&M, Newlook and peacocks seem to have reasonably priced maternity gear. If your budget is more generous than mine then someone else will have to help :D

Would it be wrong to phone up and change my scan purely for the fact I don't want to wait an extra 6 days more than I have too?x

Cantstringawordtogether · 27/08/2016 08:00

Just place marking :)

neonrainbow · 27/08/2016 08:02

You can always ask tutu! They'll only say no if you can't.

Tutuloves · 27/08/2016 08:18

Thanks Neon I'm gonna ask then for the Monday before when I'll be 19 + 6. I'll ring Monday and see what they say.

Butterpuff · 27/08/2016 09:16

Hi all.
A day away from the computer and there are pages to catch up on. I forget who posted the yoga bit thank you. I'm going to give it a try. I did Pilates before my first and I think it really helped as its all core bit do no exercise now.
Maternity clothes. I was all about leggings, big slouchy jumpers and comedy Christmas stuff last time.
I'm very envious of your Belgium chocolates super just starting to get my chocolate tooth back.
How is everyone's sickness, hope it's easing for you all now.

SuperDuperJezebel · 27/08/2016 09:48

For maternity clothes, Gap is always doing discounts via email. Happy to post them here if people would like.

DebieS · 27/08/2016 11:04

I told my mum I was going to buy bigger clothes as mine were becoming uncomfortable. Her response was....... You can't be bigger already, your only 12 weeks.
I had to remind her that I normally wear a 24 and my weight goes up and down all the time plus I'm PREGNANT!!!!
Anyone else finding their clothes getting snug or am I just weird lol

PracticallyPerfect123 · 27/08/2016 11:31

I'm not sure if it's any good but asda do maternity wear (certainly online). Going to have a look in store but not holding out much hope X

Furcat85 · 27/08/2016 11:39

Thanks everyone! I've just ordered some more bits from ASOS. Giving new look jeggings a go. I'm really resenting spending money on clothes that I'll only be in for a year max - gonna stock up on some size up Primark floaty tops to bump it up. It's reached crisis point now as I literally can't fit in any of my normal trousers. I've been binging since pregnant though so not sure what % is baby and what % is pizza Grin

Cloeycat · 27/08/2016 11:46

I bought some stuff off Asos when they had a sale on the other day. They often do 24hr sales so sign up for their emails and keep an eye out. I got a dress and two pairs of jeans for £45 which I thought was quite good. Just need a few tips and a pair of black trousers and I think I'll be mostly set.. I tend work from a capsule wardrobe anyway so shouldn't be too different!

Cloeycat · 27/08/2016 11:46

Whoops tops not tips!

SecretScaryFriend · 27/08/2016 11:49

I found having a few bigger sized trousers and tops was good for afterwards when I could not bear to keep wearing the same three outfits of maternity clothes. It took a fair while to shrink a bit but I was glad I had some non maternity bits to go into.

Dustycorners · 27/08/2016 12:17

If you're considering breast feeding it's worth looking at pregnancy clothes (maternity or just sized up) that might also be bf friendly, so nursing tops/dresses or layered vests, etc. I didn't think about this last time and so shortly after DS was born I realised I had nothing I could feed in (normal clothes too small and most of my mat stuff was not suitable). If something can do you pre and post pregnancy then it makes it much better value. I bloody hate clothes shopping and especially mat clothes shopping!

In addition to the retailers others have mentioned, I got a few maternity and breastfeeding clothes from Mothercare last time. The selection is not massive, but they regularly have new stock online and useful reviews! The Blooming Marvellous range had some good dresses and nightwear before. Look out for sales as they seem to happen fairly often.

Oh, and I got a couple of smart dresses for weddings (mat and bf friendly!) from yummymummymaternity.co.uk worst website name ever. I also got an absolutely brilliant winter coat from there too, and in the sale just before Xmas. If you sign up to their newsletter you sometimes get sent discount codes and they have regular sales and special offers. Good delivery and returns policies too.

Dustycorners · 27/08/2016 12:45

Just had a look and the yummymummymaternity site currently has 25% off everything!

charlybs · 27/08/2016 13:34

Phew finally got to the end of the new thread. Finally have great internet (staying at a Hyatt in Malaysia).

Tomorrow we're starting to climb Mt. Kinabalu - doing it over a couple of days as there's a guesthouse half way up. Might use the picture at the summit as our announcement on FB when we get back haha, what do you think?

Welcome to the new joiners and congrats to everyone having scans - so exciting!

Wellies what's Emma's diary? Got to love the free stuff.

Tutu we'll be finding out but probably won't be telling everyone as we don't want a deluge of pink or blue things. Family who promise not to go mad may get to know haha

Re: maternity clothes I got some in JoJo Mama Bebe's summer sale and will fingers crossed get some stuff that doubles up as nursing things in the January sale.

Tutuloves · 27/08/2016 13:45

What good advice dusty. Thanks to you I shall just buy nursing stuff that I can use for BF afterwards, kill two birds with one stone so to speak. I had some breast feeding bras on my first with no underwire, I bet they'd be good to buy instead of maternity bras for the same reason, I can use them longer.
I don't have a bump as yet. Mind you I don't usually carry big at all and I usually have to have extra scans towards the end as my bump measures small although I don't have small babies (7lb 13 and 8lb 4)
I'm looking forward to my bump though it should appear about 20 weeks of its the same as my last two pregnancies.

Happygojo86 · 27/08/2016 14:18

For BF friendly stuff join a group on fb call 'can I breastfeed in it? U.K.' To be honest most 'nursing' clothes are a waste of time once your bump is mostly gone. I mostly opted for 1 up 1 down where you put on a cheap vest top that you can get your boob out of on and a top over the top and voila! Discreet nursing. I found a lot of specific nursing stuff not particularly discreet to be honest. That said I had some nice stuff from
Verbaudet.

Furcat85 · 27/08/2016 16:29

What great advice everyone, thank you! I need to go and get measured for some maternity bras as the size up Primark ones I got a few weeks ago as a gap fill are already pinching and the wires are becoming uncomfortable. I know it's silly but I don't want to go too mad until after my scan, I'm sure everything's fine as my symptoms have been pretty textbook week by week but until I hear that little heart beating I won't be able to fully relax.
