Systolic BP (big number) is considered normal between 100 and 140, but mine has been 100-110 which is low for me and I occasionally feel dizzy. I have been checking it at work when I am bored! If yours is a little on the low side, make sure you are drinking enough water.

13 weeks today and baby is the size of a jalapeño apparently Grin

cyclinggirl22 · 05/09/2016 13:45

carolann I wouldn't worry last time mine was checked it was 80/40 and the midwife was rather surprised so she took it 4 times! I asked if there was anything I could do to raise it and she said no just drink lots and sit down whenever faint. I often have to sleep sitting up as lying down causes me to get really dizzy and I believe it gets worse throughly the second trimester Confused

Carolann8584 · 05/09/2016 14:06

Don't think I can drink anymore, I try and have a pint of water an hour at work so 8 pints, cut down a little at home so I can get a bit more sleep instead of going to the bathroom every hour lol.

good luck for those with scans today xx

Rosey135 · 05/09/2016 15:51

Good scan! My partner and I both cried when we saw it moving, so glad everything is OK and we have a healthy happy wriggler. Really glad the scan was so early in the day as we have had a lovely happy day relaxing together after. Feels much more real now! Just want to share it with the world now!!!

Lovely Scan pic Rosey Glad everything is OK with Bean

Furcat85 · 05/09/2016 17:40

Wow, you're all so organised thinking about NCT classes already Smile I definitely want to do them but my DH is not interested at all. I'm not fussed as it's not his scene and I know he'll be supportive and helpful enough without them but I was wondering if anyone else is going to be going alone or has done in the past? Is it likely to be me and a load of couples? Also, I picked up my 1st Emma's diary pack today and one of the things inside is breastmilk bags. I'm feeling a bit bewildered as to why I'd need to put breastmilk into bags? I was expecting either straight into baby's mouth or maybe bottles if I'm expressing? I thought I was fairly clued up on all this baby lark but these mysterious bags have given me a massive wave of " I actually have no idea what I'm doing" Shock

NameChange30 · 05/09/2016 17:47

Furcat
I figure that if we have to do pregnancy (which is non stop for 9 months) and childbirth (which is likely to be painful and hard work) then the very least our partners can do is attend antenatal classes with us! It's a few hours of his life!

Furcat85 · 05/09/2016 17:50

I know, I know - I'll work on him but I can't see it happening. TBH, I'm not that bothered if he comes or not I just don't want to feel like a wally on my own.

neonrainbow · 05/09/2016 18:07

Super that sucks! The nhs is great but sometimes it's not. This is not the time for them to be wasting your money!

ItsMagicYouKnow · 05/09/2016 19:32

Furcat the bags are for freezing milk if you need to, ie you might express too much or if you produce lots of milk for some reason you can express and keep some spare in the freezer. That's what they're for anyway, sorry been a bit vague about why you'd need to express extra milk, that's because I didn't experience that myself - couldn't keep my milk longer than 12 hours because it contained too much lipase and would "turn" very quickly (in taste rather than quality). But I always seemed to have just the right amount anyway and didn't express until 6 months. I expect some of the other ladies on here are much more knowledgeable.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 05/09/2016 19:36

Super poor you, what a rubbish day!

Rosey lovely scan, congrats!

Happy can't wait for baby to turn into a jalapeño (tomorrow!). Bloody love them. Had some at the weekend although I really shouldn't given all the indigestion/reflux I'm getting... anyway, have a good holiday!

Newbie7077 · 05/09/2016 20:15

Furcat i have the same problem with my partner. I think in his mind he thinks he "doesn't have time " and he can't possibly take that time off work/may have to work late and it's so much money it's probably a rip off blablabla. I've decided to work on him sloooowly. Sort of just say look it's in January I need to know what to do when it's time and it's a "with your partner" type of course . I got a couple of grunts which means he is coming around to it lol. Men.

Newbie7077 · 05/09/2016 20:18

Oh and congratulations rosey!

Furcat85 · 05/09/2016 20:34

Thanks for the explanation Magic - I had no idea about excess Confused, so much to learn!

deuscat · 05/09/2016 20:54

Don't think I've posted in this thread, sorry, but I have been reading. 4 days till my scan on Friday. Getting nervous but also excited.

I did lazy daisy birthing classes last time as they were much cheaper than NCT. However, I didn't really manage to keep in touch properly with the ladies I met on it. Instead I ended up making very good friend with a few mums at my local breastfeeding group who I still see very regularly now.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 05/09/2016 21:45

Sorry happy you're not off on holiday, that was meant for butter! Serious baby brain today!

SuperDuperJezebel · 05/09/2016 21:55

Today I was helping out at weight watchers, I reckon I wrote the date about 30 times. Got it wrong (and different) pretty much every time! Baby brain indeed!

Dozygirl · 05/09/2016 22:18

super your bp doesn't sound high to me at 120/80? That's normal but just at the top end of normal. Above 80 is classed as high.

SuperDuperJezebel · 05/09/2016 22:22

Hi Dozy, it is now, because I take medication for it. It can get over 190/XX without the meds.
