Can I ask a polite question of all non-first timers? Is it right that my arse and thighs are so big? Or is it all the creme eggs.

The gorgeous maternity jeans that I bought about 5 weeks ago are now like a skin on a sausage. I'm very upset.

largeginandtonic · 29/01/2007 21:56

Me too pink, have nice ones i got in H&M back in oct and i cant sit down in the now Feels like im being cut in half and i have camel toe They have been relegated to the top of the wardrobe, im currently wearing one pair of jeans and one pair of tracky bottoms......

I have been eating bloody spinach and cereal for a month too

twelveyeargap · 29/01/2007 21:58

Arse and thighs also big! I was a good stone and a half overweight to start with though, which obv doesn't help.

DH said the other day that I looked "more in proportion" recently as bump has got bigger and bum and thighs stayed the same.

I think I very quickly laid down fat (helped hugely by dreadful eating habits) and am now just gaining in the belly - where I should be. Even my boobs have finally stopped growing (for now).

I'm afraid the creme eggs don't help, but fwiw, when I did a couple of weeks recently where I just cut out most of my junk food and I do think I looked less "bloated". HTH.

susanjayneh · 29/01/2007 22:01

Hi can I join you ladies, I'm expecting No 2 on 25th May?

Can someone explain to me how these antenatal clubs work on this site - do you just look for the latest message with may in the title - sorry to seem thick but used to another site which is laid out differently.

Susan

Pinktrappedwindjenny · 29/01/2007 22:04

It does help thanks. Particularly tough when you have a hugely glam mum, who keeps on saying things like, 'did you see in OK! Amanda Holden only put on a stone and a half all the way through her pregnancy'.

Don't get me wrong, she's fab and I love her more than anything, but its hard to take when your thighs are rubbing together and you look like a pile of poo.

Dh keeps on saying, 'its not your bump, its here' and rubbing the tops of my legs.

Its all rather upsetting really.

Moan over.

Pinktrappedwindjenny · 29/01/2007 22:09

LG&T - nice camel toe point. Mine are the same. I resorted to wearing a pair of £3.50 stretchy pants for work the other day with a black polo neck and some killer boots. Looked OK, but the sight of my wardrobe is so depressing.

Mustn't whine, I'm sure she'll be worth it. She'll come out and think, 'look at the state of this woman'.

Welcome Susan, just look for the Due in May 07 thread, we start a new one each week.

I'm not usually this miserable, by the way.

Evening all or those of you who are still about.

LG&T I think im going to have to bail out of shopping tomorrow, ive spent the whole day feel dizzy and lightheaded and it doesnt seem to be getting any better, in fact its now making me feel nauseas. It started last night and i put it down to being over tired but it still hadnt improved this morning even though id gone to bed really early. Ive spent all day trying to rest as much as possible but it has been impossible, ds1 woke with an upset stomach so he was off school this morning, ds2 has been a pain almost all day (arguing with ds1)and dh seemed to find lots of urgent things he needed to do with my help so really me trying to rest was in vain. I am now going to bed and hope the room stops spinning and the nausea goes

I was really looking forward to meeting up, maybe we can rearrange it for another day. I was getting quite excited about having someone to coo over all the baby things in the shops with and looking at all the maternity clothes without making jokes about them looking like tents (yes dh im talking about you!!) And im sorry i couldnt let you know sooner, this is the first time ive been able to get on the pc, dh had hogged it most of the day then ds1 was doing homework on it (for a change)

To all you others i will hopefully catch up on your posts tomorrow at some point if this horrible dizziness goes. Being pregnant is such fun sometimes

Night all, oh before i go, ds1 has a girlfriend!!! she called for him earlier Apparantly it was all a big secret but its not now lol, Right im definately off to bed now

Frenchsmallfry · 29/01/2007 22:25

Welcome susan, you can click on the watch this thread link. Each time you log on you can then click on the threads I'm watching near the top, and this thread will appear. Just makes it a little quicker. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

lg&t, dry white heading your way with pleasure, lol at the "some of US? just dip in and out" Have a good break, glad you are feeling a little better already.

night all......xxx

Wondered if anyone would pick up on that FSF, i was about to launch in to my SOH is responsible for all the porn talk and TYG has 5 children and is pregnant with #6, isnt she crazy!!!! I guess my profile would catch me out now though...

Pebble dont worry at all, i should probably not be galavanting round the shops before a 4 hour drive with 5 children anyway....Hope you feel better, it could be your blood pressure or anaemia. Get checked by the midwife if you still feel rough tomorrow xxxx

jessinwa · 30/01/2007 05:07

hello all. you are all so damn cute! i am loving looking at all your pictures. the may gals have the cutest kids and bumps for sure!
i am in a great mood. my doctor called this afternoon to tell me i don't have gestational diabetes! i am so relieved. though she is going to start seeing me every two weeks to keep track of my pelvic pain, vomiting problem and lack of weight gain. the baby looks fine and my bump is growing as it should be so i am happy as can be.
hope you are all sleeping soundly.

Lwatkins · 30/01/2007 06:40

Morning All!
I woke up at 3:30am and haven't been able to get back to sleep since, it's not all bad though cause i'll just have an earlier night tonight.
Grrrr found out yesterday that if i wanna apply for this transfer to the second year degree course i have to do another ucas application. They take soooo long to do, cost £15 and i'll need to chase up references. I really don't wanna have to go to my current course leader and ask her for a reference to transfer to a different uni, what if i don't get in? Then i have to go back to this uni and be like, ummmm yeah didn't get in, ok if i stay on here?! Is that silly? I think it is a tad excessive that i have to do one again, i'm only applying for this one course to be a bit closer to home, and i don't even know if the transfer would even be viable cause the guy hasn't got back to me about it yet! It's just time and money that i don't have!
I feel like i'm forever moaning, i had my happy week last week and everything's just gone to shit again. Oh and i'm smoking again at myself for this as i had done really well quiting! I'm on the weakest fags i could find mind and am only having 3/4 a day. I wont let myself go past that, so as well as everything else i have to stop smoking - again!
Booked my plane tickets home for the end of feb for my mums birthday though so thats something to look forward too, and i'm seeing my sister this sunday before she goes to Austrlia.
Will check in later with you chatty lot.

Juicylucytoo · 30/01/2007 09:00

Scootermum. This is an icandy stockist according to their website, so I assume they'll have all the popular brands:

Felix and Lily?s
3 Camden Passage, Islington, London N1 8EA
Tel 0207 4245423

I wasn't offended about Dalston, it was one of the areas we looked at, but I was seduced by Vicki Park (even though we probably paid £40K more for the same size house as we'd have got in Dalston). The East London Line extension property price hikes was tempting, but the reality of how dodgy is can be was a bit off putting. But there are nice areas...

Welcome Susan. Good luck keeping up. We're a right chatty bunch on here - that's why there's a new thread every week, as there's so many posts!!

scootermum · 30/01/2007 09:12

Morning all,
I was up at 3 as well with a screaming dd.I think now its teeth but it could be any one of her various ailments-Im at a total loss now..Trying to prop eyes open now to get some work done.My early morning meeting has been cancelled as well.Bugger it im going down to the Angel to get some breakfast.I will be able to do nothing in my current state anyway...
pesky kids!
Sympathies on the UCAS form LW.I think I can remember them being a blighter. What a faff..hope you get it all done.Perhaps it like my RMA qualification-its more the thought of starting it that is a heart sinker and when you've actualy begun it wotn be so bad?(really must start that RMA-assessor coming on the 20th and expecting to see great progress-havent actually opened the folder yet...whoops)

SOH-Hope you are ok after yesterday..

My legs are also like tree trunks but the worst thing for me is that ive got a very fat back. This happened with dd as well and I didnt realy lose it all off there-I mean there arent so many exercises you can do for a fat back I dont think..Whats worse is my SIL who is 8 weeks more pg than me looks like she is not pg at all, she is 6 ft odd and very slight and people keep comparing us..its very upsetting!Sod Amanda Holden anyway, I expect she was in the gym straight after birth and all that..And its all airbrushed anyway isnt it?(scooter adopts pleading tone)..

TYG You are funny-I work with old people-I dont have to resemble one!(though I have developed a penchant for Crabtree and Evelyns english rose talcum powder and I do feel approx 82 currently)Dont you dare cut your hair-from your pictures it is a triumph-its lovely!Dont do it!Bear in mind mine takes about six litres of straightening balm and an hour with the GHD's to look remotely ok!That said if your hair is naturally straight a bob is an easy look to pull off, or so I hear-wouldnt know with the madness that protrudes from my head!Top is just a normal, (size 10 at that), one from New Look, (£12 only, comes in a variety of shades and patterns).Fashion is very odd at the moment as I cant see how anyone without a fat back and 6 month bump would look anything other than slightly absurd and/or like a painter in it-there is about 6 yards of material in it..My RL friend said it should be worn with leggings. Not with my legs, not on your nelly! However its very handy for those with child so hey ho..Was very pleased, (not) to read in Grazia magazine yesterday that the coming seasons sillouhette will be 'short and tight'.It didnt give advice on how to wear this when either pg or recently post partum however so its possible I will not be adopting it...

largegandt -have given my morning shift your doughnuts as felt guilty about having them myself..well I may have had one sneaky custard filled one last night but that was all..just you wait till you get back from your rest lady-it will be kk agogo at your house, you mark my words!

Jess-glad to hear it about the diabetes-great news..

I think I might treat myself to a small glass of wine tonight as havent drunk a drop since getting pg and really fancy it.Or in fact what id really like is a pint of lager and lime, but that would be a bit much-id probably fall over..
have a nice morning all-off to get hold of some coffee-sorry bean-it has to be done before I fall asleep..

scootermum · 30/01/2007 09:15

O thanks juicy-might have a little look in now when I go-I love going down there anyway-havent been for ages-I always come back with some sort of nick nack from the antique shops and there is a lovely second hand clothes shop as well..Whats that, work you say? bah!

ShowOfHands · 30/01/2007 09:48

Morning all!

Thank you for all of your very kind messages yesterday. Sorry for the emotional outburst. The initial panic of 'oh my God we have nowhere to live, our landlord is selling from under us and the baby is going to have to sleep in the toilet' subsided somewhat after you're very lovely comments and DH's clever use of fish and chips and pick and mix. I am still a little bit shell shocked, but I keep telling myself that at least we have the mortgage offer so finding something else shouldn't be the arduous process it was this time. I am gutted though, I loved that house, had imagined us there, started decorating in my head and now the numptiest of numptoid vendors has upset a pregnant woman and lost us money. Why insist we get an architect to draw up plans to show how much the work would cost us if he had no intention of renegotiating. I don't understand! He must be loopy.

Anyway, must rush, work to do. LG&T I'm going to miss you!!

Will catch up properly later...

twelveyeargap · 30/01/2007 09:57

Welcome Susan! I think we win the prize for chattiest ante-natal group. In fact, I think most of the time we don't talk about pregnancy at all. (You might have already noticed.)

Glad to hear about the good test results Jess.

Scooter - DD, aged 11 is wearing footless tight/ leggings from Tammy Girl. I think I shall pass up on that particlar trend. Along with the short and tight silhouette. In fact, I'll probably make DD pass up on that one as well!

And if it's any consolation, I'm sort of dreading my mum seeing me at the weekend. She'll absolutely have something to say about my shape. "Oh, what a shame. Your arse does look a bit like a shelf, doesn't it?" "Well your bump is neat, just a pity you put on weight everywhere else."

I could go on...

I'll let her away with it though. She's picked up a brand new Mamas and Papas swinging crib in white from her Ch-ch-charidee shop for about a tenner. Just need to get it from Belfast back to London. Going to call Sleazyjet to see if I can put it on as outsize baggage.

largeginandtonic · 30/01/2007 10:07

Morning everyone

I have packed all the clothes up and their toys, it looks like im moving house! I plan to clean the house, pack the car and make a picnic for them for tea in the car today. Hugs keeps saying "going, mummy?" bless.

Im quite excited now, my mum has said she will have the kids in rotation (she cant handle all of them at once!) My sister abd both brothers are around this weekend too so i should manage to leave them all and sneak off to see dh for the day at least. He is about an hour out of Plymouth.

Im eating pate on toast Just went to lidl for nappies (love the cien ones in there) and it called to me from the shelf, just call me FSF today....

SOH glad you feel better, it will be ok. You can always come and stay with me for as long as you want. We could homebirth together... DH quite welcome too, we have a spare room.

Scooter my back size has gone from a 32 to a 36, it has not got any bigger now for a couple of weeks but im not holding my breath. Leggings....ohmigod....not a chance i would wear them, very bad look for me, much like skinny jeans...horrific!

Am starving today, what can i eat next.....packing energy of course

ShowOfHands · 30/01/2007 10:16

LG&T, how do you have 27 children and a spare room?!

I'm so worried that I can't have a homebirth now- I'm not having one in this house (landlord has lots of ornaments that are either scary chickens or floating nuns- I'm not showing them my fanjo) and need to move before D-Day. It's homebirth or hospital birth, no birthing units or anything here.

Welcome Susan btw.

ShowOfHands · 30/01/2007 10:18

I spy Megg! Thanks for that, you're right of course, it's probably built on an ancient Indian burial site and the monsters were just waiting to come through and steal my soul. We will find something better I am sure.

Where have you been all this time? How's the pg going?

Juicylucytoo · 30/01/2007 11:22

TPT - Still only 8. Don't understand. I look the size of a house and only half a sheet bigger than when I started...Or was I 7 and have conveniently forgotton pg brain in action...

twelveyeargap · 30/01/2007 11:25

Are you counting the shed, LG&T? I might just squeeze your brood into my house, but DH and me would probably have to sleep in a hammock in the back garden.

SOH - I've always boxed up any vile trinkets left by landlords and just unpacked them all again when I moved out. Can't bear living with other peoples stuff. Particularly not scary chickens. (I'm afraid to ask.) Can you really not see yourself giving birth there (without chickens)? Perhaps you've talked yourself out of it, becuase you expected to be somewhere else?

Pebblemum · 30/01/2007 11:32

Morning ladies

LG&T hope you have a nice time and you get a bit of rest. Try to get on a pc now and again though or we will think you have deserted us

Well my dizziness has eased slightly, im ok unless i move suddenly. My midwife runs her clinic at my dr's surgery tomorrow so if it hasnt gone totally by then i may book in to see her for a check up. Im due to see her next week anyway so it will only mean bringing my appointment forward one week. Ive got the appointment through for ds1 to see the consultant about his seizures, i was expecting a 6wk wait but its for 12th Feb so hopefully we will get to the bottom of it all pretty quickly. I still havent heard back from his grandparents (dads side), i posted the letter Wednesday and said i needed the medical history asap, if that was me i would have replied straight away but then again maybe they have no intention of getting back to me. If i dont hear anything by the time we go for the appointment i will know that getting in touch was a waste of time but at least i tried.

Who was it that was thinking of getting an Icoo Infinity? I know it has been mentioned but cant remember who it was and if it was given the thumbs up or not. I could probably find out if i wasnt too lazy to go back to the other threads I only ask because i have found a brand new red one on ebay for £169 Buy It Now which i didnt think was too bad, not sure if i like it though, its the small wheels at the front that put me off, they look strange but then again maybe im just old fashioned
