Happy Monday all............

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lwatkins · 30/01/2007 19:02

And I quote:

'We have previously informed you that it is an offence to use any device to watch or record tv programmes at your address without a valid tv licence.
However, it's been noted that your address remains unlicensed, so you should expect a visit from an Enforcment Officer shortly.
Until then, everything you need to know is contained in the enclosed leaflet'.

Well thanks for the leaflet, but you can dunk it in battery acid then ram it up your arse!!! Leave me alone!

Lwatkins · 30/01/2007 19:05

You would think it was an offence not to have a tv or something, if i don't own one then they cant pick up a signal from it. No signal = no tv = no need for a feckin licence!

Rant over!

cinnamontam · 30/01/2007 19:07

God i am such a sad sack! There was an ad on the telly for Australia and DH and I are sitting here on the couch feeling so homesick and I'm having a little weep of course.

Please reassure me (or lie) and tell me I'll meet some people when I have bean??
It's been so hard making friends here. I've been working 70 hour weeks, travelling lots and being married means I'm not exactly out on the town meeting loads of people each weekend.

((shuffles off to find some chocolate - sometimes makes me feel better))

Lwatkins · 30/01/2007 19:14

Oh sweetheart, you'll meet some people in good time! I know what you mean - kind of. I'm really homesick to, and it's not exactly easy socialising in your first year of uni when your the only one who's pregnant and all anybody alse cares about is going out and getting pissed! It can be and has been a very lonely time to an extent, and family aren't close either! So in a way i know how you feel.
But chin up hun, there are always new people to meet, and i've heard that having kids opens up a whole new social life for people.

cinnamontam · 30/01/2007 19:19

Thanks mate. I'm sure I'll be fine

cinnamontam · 30/01/2007 19:20

Back to more important things.

How about putting laxatives in some of your food I think it would be hilarious

notsolilKel · 30/01/2007 19:22

Cinnomontam, this is one area where I really can reassure you. I moved to London from NYC in 2004 in order to be with my fiance/DH and while it was the best decision I ever made, I was completely heartbroken and lonely for over a year after coming here. I actually went into depression over it - also my job was crap - but that's another story... ANYway, we moved flats a couple of times and then settled in SW London 18mo ago when I was pg with DS. I still had no friends to speak of at that point (was keeping busy bearing children and moving house ). But my antenatal & postnatal classes have resulted in meeting at least 15 truly nice and interesting people. The best part is, you have something massive in common, and no inhibitions left after the birth, so you just dive in straight away (unlike most Brits I've made friends with, which takes oh I don't know, 10 years on avg, sorry guys...). Have you signed up for any classes yet? I am the happiest now I've been in years & years - you will be too I'm sure (((HUGS)))

cinnamontam · 30/01/2007 19:30

Thanks lilKel.

I know people do it all the time and I'm sure it gets better but it is hard when all i feel is just so isolated. Take work out of the equation and thinking ahead to me being on my own at home with Bean..gulp

Where in SW are you? We're in Putney. DH and I are about to sign up for a couples NCT class in Fulham (starts in April) so hopefully will meet people through that. He's just as bad as me - has the most wonderful group of mates but all in Oz of course.

You are definitely a success story though - will keep reading your post when I feel crappy

Lwatkins · 30/01/2007 19:32

It's tempting to 'tamper' with my food but knowing forgetful little me i'll forget what i've tampered with and eat it myself! Then i really will be on here having yet another moan

Lwatkins · 30/01/2007 19:37

This is why i am so looking forward to going home for the summer - all of it! My parents are coming to collect me and all of my stuff from uni in may and take me home where i'll have the baby! It's gonna be the best summer ever. Will have my beautiful little girl, be with my family who i love with all my heart, and all my old friends are within an hours drive to catch up. And it'll be for like 3/4 months Cant wait, gives me something to hang onto when having the day from hell, or getting death threats from the tv licencing people!!!!

Lwatkins · 30/01/2007 19:42

Right am of to watch some.....black books maybe decisions decisions!

twelveyeargap · 30/01/2007 20:11

Lwatkins, if anyone at your address bought a tv or a freeview box recently, then the shop has to take the address, by law. Therefore your address will be "in the system". I would just write to them and say, "I don't have a television, please feel free to sent the enforcers around to check."

Do you have a mini dvd player or something? Even if you don't watch tv, or even have an aerial in the back of it, (and only watch dvds and videos) you're still liable for the licence fee as you have "receiving equipement" in the house. Boring but true I'm afraid.

Cinnamontam and lilkel - I was like that when I first moved to London. I spent 4 months on the brink of breakdown. I was so miserable. Luckily DH introduced me to a lovely, lovely woman, who introduced me to one of her mates and I have two really lovely girlfriends now. Obv lots of work colleagues, but it's not the same as mates.

My dad lives in Putney... Perhaps we can have a SW London meet when we're all on maternity leave?

I've moved house a lot, so I'm gutted the NCT classes round here were full. Will have to find another class to try to get to know poeple. Luckily we do know one couple in the area. Makes SUCH a difference not to feel like your household is a little island.

Frenchsmallfry · 30/01/2007 20:22

Blimey, you lot have been chatty today. taken me ages to catch up, Been to French, had my hair coloured and cut , seen the midwife, bought a new washing machine, done a food shop, corrrrrrr, I've been a busy little bee today. Dd has decided to be ill again, but she had some jabs last week so hoping it is just a side effect of them.

notsolilkel, are you sure charleymouse missed you? I can't work out who NSL is if she did, I thought that was you when I read it, I'm sure she didn't mean too, you know haw lost we get with only one baby in there for an excuse, poor charley mouse must be loosing brain cells left right and centre. We don't forget you!!!

I will keep you all posted on lg&t, until Friday night anyway as I am away from then, I'm sure she'll text me at some point. She might get into trouble otherwise

AM, YOU OK?

SOH, glad things are feeling a little easier today, you will find something perfect I'm sure.

Lwatkins, tyg is soooo right. Last year we bought a new dvd recorder in Argos, we live in France so I gave my sister's address when we bought it. A few months later she got a letter addressed to us saying that according to their records "we" didn't hold a current TV licence. She just ticked the box saying that she was the owner of the house and had a TV licence she had to give her details and all was fine.

LOve your piccies scooter and Notsolilkel. I really like that top scoot did we find out where it was from???? Oh and Jane Eyre is one of my all time favorite books, I love all the oldies!

Notsolilkel your ds is very cute.

twelveyeargap · 30/01/2007 20:38

Crikey. Have just seen all my spelling errors.

FSF, you HAVE been a busy bee today. You should feel very pleased with yourself indeed.

I'm so tired. I stayed up til midnight last night watching some "hostage" nonsense. WHY? WHY? WHY?

Am waiting for DD to go to bed at 9 so I can go, but in fact, I think I might just go now. I'm too tired to even eat.

notsolilKel · 30/01/2007 20:40

TYG & Cinnomontam - we should def try for a SW London meetup when you're "free." Putney's not far from me (Twickenham). I'm a SAHM so anytime is fine with me, apart from endless runs to the doctor for DS and my antenatal visits...

Apart from NCT, which lots of people have luck with (my class only had 3 of us in it though, gulp!) you should ask your doctor or mw or health visitor about other antenatal classes run by your council. I almost didn't do them as I though they'd be too chavvy but went anyway and was soooo glad I did!! It's local people so you're bound to meet people close to you & similar to you. Take it from me you won't be alone when you have a baby. Suddenly everyone will talk to you. It's miraculous

LW sorry to hear about your TV troubles.

FSF, didn't you just get your hair done last week? You glamourous girl you - and thanks for the hugs. And major major if I was in fact "NSL" on Charleymouse's post....I really think pg hormones should be outlawed, they're far more dangerous than any class A drug...

cinnamontam · 30/01/2007 20:46

I think a SW meet-up is a great idea. I'll be on maternity leave from end of April. Good idea about the council run classes too. I'd like to go to the ones during the day but it's just so difficult with work. Might just do both and sod work

Cheers ladies. I have an enourmous cup of hot chocolate made from melted Green and Blacks and off to bed

Night
xxxx

aprilmeadow · 30/01/2007 20:56

It has taken me ages to catch up with you ladies today!!

Feeling like the biggest bag of poo going! Keep coming out in hot sweats, then feel really cold. Add to that a nice sore throat, hacking cough that feels like my throat is being ripped out.

Got one set of bloods back today and the clotting issue i had last week has resolved itself thankfully.

J is getting better thankfully and cant wait til Thursday when he can go back to nursery. Was all set to leave him somewhere yesterday, he was truely horrible. Screamed, whined, bleated the whole day. Wanted to do a dance when he went to bed! Poor dh had such a crap birthday.

On the upside, dh finished painting the spare room today YAY YAY YAY! Also got a bargain from B&Q today. A black out blind that was 40 quid that i thought had been reduced to 20, but i actually only paid 9.80!

TPT gone back to 8 sheets but hardly surprising as have hardly eaten since Sunday.

Sorry not to have mentioned eveyone else. Will re-read and make notes

susanjayneh · 30/01/2007 20:57
