Lovely scan charlybs

Struggling again today, just want to curl up in bed. Definitely don't want to be in work. Just had 2 lovely days off now on a real low today.

Sad

katgrey welcome! i think a lot of women feel that way with their first pregnancy. Myself included. This is my first but I quickly switched to looking at all the changes as something good which shows the baby is still alive and doing something in there. I told my two closest friends (one at work) so I'd have someone to moan to haha (and get support from of course ;) )

ItsMagicYouKnow · 04/08/2016 15:24

Hi everyone!

Lovely little bean charly! And always good to be further along than you thought!

Welcome Kat! Smile

Beautytobe · 04/08/2016 15:26

I have my early scan tomorrow I will be ten weeks and I get it tomorrow as I have had 3 miscarriages non getting past ten weeks
Am shitting myself that when I go in tomorrow there will be no baby/heartbeat....
Midwife says I should use my symptoms as a guide but I was sick with all my pregnancies!
Pray for me

SpanielLedWeaning · 04/08/2016 15:28

What's going on with me! I look about 5 months pregnant constantly at the moment with this huge belly in front of me. No idea how I am meant to keep this baby a secret - especially as I have a girlie weekend away and a wedding before my scan is due. I keep on finding myself holding my stomach like a protective mum holding her baby belly which is a really obvious sign to everyone else that I'm pregnant!!!

Not only that but I've got a constant pain in my right side which is slowing me down. It is the same feeling as when you have a baby kicking you in your ribs in the 3rd trimester but it can't be that as I'm only 9 weeks! (I also have colitis so there is a possibility that the pregnancy hormones are causing my colitis to flare which is giving me pain in my side)

I don't mind the nausea, tiredness and food aversion but I'd rather not look like the size of a house and have to waddle down the street!

Sorry. Just needed a moan.

SpanielLedWeaning · 04/08/2016 15:29

Send you positive vibes beauty

charlybs · 04/08/2016 15:35

Spaniel I am also so bloated as well. All my clothes seem to accentuate it. I genuinely look about 4 or 5 months pregnant, not 2!!

charlybs · 04/08/2016 15:35

Good luck beauty my fingers are crossed for you xxx

Carolann8584 · 04/08/2016 15:38

fingers crossed for you beauty

neonrainbow · 04/08/2016 15:48

Before i got pg my stomach was getting quite flat through diet and exercise although still overweight. Now i look like i have a large bump apparently thats common with twins 😃 i look like ive put on a stone but ive actually only put on about 1lb. Im going to get huge!

purplesmiler · 04/08/2016 16:09

good luck beauty!

Well the holiday was nice but back to reality now. Thought I may have come home to a midwife appointment but no, will give it a week then ring to chase it up. Struggling to eat properly today, seem to be snacking- will attempt tea later. Woke up in the night feeling sick but it hasn't been as bad during the day today.

alphabook · 04/08/2016 16:35

Great news charly!

I have everything crossed for you beauty.

Got my 12 week scan appointment and on the letter it says it's £6 for a picture! What an absolute con! Is that something all hospitals do?!

OP posts:
SpanielLedWeaning · 04/08/2016 16:43

Yep aplha I had to pay for mine last time. I'm going to a different hospital this time but fully expecting to pay for the scan pictures again.

Carolann8584 · 04/08/2016 16:52

Better take some cash with me to mine then, need 6 pics in total lol Smile

greentreeseverywhere · 04/08/2016 16:53

Iv got my booking appointment with the midwife tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what will happen? Also will they do a test or will nothin be done till 12 week scan. Thanx guys

Newbie7077 · 04/08/2016 16:58

greentreeseverywhere A lot of forms to fill out, they took urine and a fair few vials of blood, then went through questions about family history, if you smoke, if you drink and how much. takes about an hour. then they told me i will hear from the midwives at the hospital in due course. Not very exciting unfortunately! Oh and they do ask you if you want a nuchal scan or normal dating scan

greentreeseverywhere · 04/08/2016 17:17

Thanx newbie not to scary then! Will discuss scan with partner tonight. I assume they test the blood/urine to see if still pregnant and would let me no if not.
Although iv seen the bean in early scan I'm still worried something will happen! need to relax and not worry

Dozygirl · 04/08/2016 17:46

No the urine and blood isn't to test youre pregnant. It's to get a baseline for future reference and check your blood group and haemoglobin levels and make sure you've no urine infection, keytones etc.

NameChange30 · 04/08/2016 17:50

Beauty Good luck for tomorrow x

green At my booking in appointment, the midwife just filled in forms. She didn't even take bloods or a urine sample - she told me to book an appointment with the practice nurse for that. They didn't do a pregnancy test. The bloods and urine are for various screening tests, infections etc, not to confirm the pregnancy. They just take your word for it that you're pregnant!

NameChange30 · 04/08/2016 17:50

Cross post dozy! Smile

Butterpuff · 04/08/2016 17:58

Odd question. At the moment as well as the nausea I constantly feel as if I've swallowed some large tablets that are stuck in my throat. It's really uncomfortable. Has anyone had similar?

SpanielLedWeaning · 04/08/2016 18:21

green I didn't have to give a urine sample at my booking but did have bloods and lots of forms. And came away with an armful of leaflets, info sheets and random paperwork.

The most difficult questions were did I want the nuchal test at the dating scan and where did I want to give birth - we are in the middle of 3 different NHS Foundations which means that there is a lot of choice of birth centres plus home birthing as an option too.

greentreeseverywhere · 04/08/2016 18:28

Thanx everyone I think it's the waiting for 12 weeks which is getting to me! I'm inpatient and a worrier! Sure it will all be fine. Thankyou for answering Smile

wornoutboots · 04/08/2016 18:39

some places they take bloods etc at initial appointment.

Here they don't actually do the proper booking until after your scan, presumably to save time if it isn't good news. So I'll (some time in the next week or so) make an appointment, she'll take minimal details (can't remember if they took bloods etc last time or not), and book me a 12 week scan. Assuming I get that far and there's a heartbeat I'll then have a booking appointment

SecretScaryFriend · 04/08/2016 18:54

With regard to scans, I'd start saving your pound coins ladies. Most hospital car parks are rip-off pay and display and lots of scan photos are purchased using a token that you have to buy in advance from a machine before you go in that only takes coins and gives no change.
(I say lots, at least my nearest 3!)
