namechange good idea on the Doula, I will have a look into that.

I have one brother (!) and although he's medically trained, rapid response paramedic, assisted in quite few births, I couldn't imagine asking him! Shock The horror! Brrrrr!

DH is a pilot so away regularly, he gets leave in one week blocks so we will try to move a week over my due date. He can take some unpaid and I may strongly suggest this, he thinks he can just book his pat leave to start on my due date and baby will play ball. I've purchased him a baby book to read up on baby timekeeping. I may resort to bopping him on the head with said book! Having similar issues with scan date as planning on 10wks with harmony test and followup 12wks + NHS scan, complicated when he spends half of each month on the west coast of the USA but really wants to come to everything with me.

NameChange30 · 01/08/2016 18:18

Monkey

Haha yes there is no way I'd have my brother with me for the birth, that would be way too weird!

I bought DH "Pregnancy for men" and it's really good - much better than some of the other books aimed at men (some of them really annoyed me with their patronising and/or offensive tone). He seems to be enjoying it as he is actually reading it (phew!) and occasionally chuckes to himself!

Good luck coordinating the scan dates so that he can go. I managed to change my 12 week scan (NHS) really easily, which was a pleasant surprise.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 01/08/2016 18:47

Carolann I have you to thank then if I manage to get any down tonight Grin cheese and beans planned here!

wornoutboots · 01/08/2016 19:05

Jezebel yes, I'm on meds for it for life since my brain haemorrhage 11 years ago

wornoutboots · 01/08/2016 19:08

Elsa I'm so sorry you're going through this

GVW12 · 01/08/2016 19:26

Hello everyone, a little late to the party! I joined mumsnet as soon as I got a positive preg test but it was too early for due date thread then!
I'm 8 weeks today. Due 13th March.
First pregnancy, I'm 31. I live in South Manchester.

Had a scare at 6 and a half weeks, I walked into a door handle (quite forcefully) and few days after had bleeding and bad cramps. Was so worried I went to A&E after midwife team said best to get it checked out. Was there 10 hours but had a scan and saw the tiny flicker!
Just had my 'booking in' appointment today, 1st scan is 5th September (I'll be 13 weeks by then by my dates).
I've been dizzy, off my food (but not been sick) and quite a few aches and pains. I'm also constantly tired, but not sure if this is down to me being a naturally lazy type Grin

Carolann8584 · 01/08/2016 19:45

Fx for you magic had mine, so far so good with the beans, I seem to be going off more dairy products first milk then butter but not really a fan of cheese so not going to miss it too much Smile x

5tardusty · 01/08/2016 19:45

Hello all, currently 6+2. I went to the GP today and asked to be referred to early pregnancy. Hoping to be given a scan before 9 weeks. I still have no symptoms really. Have a lot of heartburn but not sure if it's pregnancy related or not. Some cramping, ligament pain and breast tenderness but that is all. All can be put down to a gestational sac....

Just want to know if there is anything in there!

ChoChang · 01/08/2016 20:03

After all my elation over the past couple of days I've just had a red bleed and now getting mild period pains and I'm absolutely terrified. Scan on Friday was fine and she said there was no bleeding near baby but Id only had brown spotting/v mild brown bleeding up to that point. This was red blood and the most I've had during this pregnancy. Got an nhs early scan on Wed that I was gonna cancel (fridays was a private scan) but I'll definitely be going now. Gone from so happy and excited to terrified now.

abbinobb · 01/08/2016 20:04

5stardusty I'm sure it's all fine, I didn't even know I was pregnant with my first until I was 15 weeks so lack of symptoms doesn't mean anything bad and you're still really early on. I had no symptoms at all until then with him

AngelBlue12 · 01/08/2016 20:13

Hope everything is ok ChoChang I'll be thinking of you Flowers

Food aversions are a pain esp when you still have to sort food for everyone, I seem to be going off all the food I normally feed the kids!

neonrainbow · 01/08/2016 20:22

Fingers crossed for you cho. If there's no clots and severe pain then youre probably okay according to the nurse i saw today. Even if there is then it may be nothing to worry about.

ChoChang · 01/08/2016 20:32

Thanks ladies. I had a tiny red clot neon like the size of my little fingernail, maybe smaller. Seems nothing but then it's exactly what I had when I had my mmc. It just all feels very familiar. Roll on Wednesday.

ElsaMars · 01/08/2016 20:36

Thanks all, I'm going to try and stay positive but it's very hard.

Neon, congratulations Flowers

Cho, hope all is OK

5tardusty · 01/08/2016 21:51

Thanks abbinob, thats reassuring. My mum also says she was only ever sick once during both her pregnancies but i'm just very dubious! Hopefully if i end up having this baby I can look back and count myself lucky.

QueenFee · 01/08/2016 21:53

Wow. I've been away on holiday in the lakes with no internet, and I've missed so much on this thread!
Sorry to those who have lost :(
Holiday was hard work, pretending to be fine to friends and family whilst wanting to spew most of the time. Popping out of my jeans. It's as if my body has given up the pretence now. Thankfully I have lots of tunics/leggings...
Best big bras I've found are the Miriam Stoppard ones at Debenhams. Occasionally I've even picked them up for 2 for £7.50in the sale too! I like hot milk and cake too but the Debenhams ones were always the ones I reached for. I will just buy nursing ones to see me through. (32g here but needed 34 in the Debenhams ones)

MissClarke86 · 01/08/2016 21:56

5tardusty I've had very few symptoms too, very similar to you. I don't feel nauseous but do feel a little bit "off", it's very minimal though. My boobs are slightly sore but nothing major. Bit of tenderness/stretching around my abdomen. Had a healthy 8 week scan today :) so I really wouldn't worry about symptoms.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 01/08/2016 21:56

Sorry to hear about your new bleed Cho, fx it's nothing and glad you have a scan already scheduled.

Carolann jacket potato went down quite well in the end, cheese and beans included! Smile I find that if I'm distracted while I eat (TV etc.) and eat at a snail's pace, I can get more down. Either that, or the homoeopathy is doing the trick. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight, I've been waking up with awful indigestion recently.

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 01/08/2016 22:49

5tardusty & Missclarke I'm 8 weeks and really not too many symptoms here either, sore boobs and tired but only really mild nausea, nothing dramatic at all. My midwife was not at all concerned about my lack of actual sickness!

Namechange I've bought DH 'Pregnancy for men' too, had a little read and think it's great. He understands the preggo rage/crying/anxiety a little better and stopped questioning my mental stability! Hmm

Everything crossed for you Cho Flowers

purplesmiler · 02/08/2016 06:43

Thinking of you both elsa & chlo

Felt really sick last night and got an awful headache (I suffer from migraines). Still on hols but went to bed to try and sleep it off. Still there this morning but not as bad. Hoping when I get home in thw coming days there is a letter waiting for my booking in appointment I'm now 7+2.

abbinobb · 02/08/2016 07:44

Is anyone else feeling irrationally angry? my usually so laid back but my god, this morning I couldn't find my phone and decided dp must have taken it to work by accident and I was about ready to kill someone then I found it right in front of me Blush
I work in a shop and I'm finding it so difficult to deal with rude customers all I can think in my head is "wankerrrr" when I have to serve a rude person, not like me at all! then I end up crying because I'm so angry and for no reason

NameChange30 · 02/08/2016 07:46

Morning all. I had a bit of a mini meltdown last night. Took a look at my body (which I've been avoiding) and I have a big bump which freaked me out. It's not vanity, it's just so weird to see my body change so quickly. I swear I look a LOT more pregnant than I am (9+5). I have a few theories: are my abdominal muscles relaxing and letting it all hang out? Am I just bloated? I don't think it's all fat because it feels pretty firm and surely I would have been putting on weight in other places too? Unless I'm just in denial! (I've been eating lots and doing hardly any exercise for the last 6 weeks Confused)

NameChange30 · 02/08/2016 07:55

PS Also most of my tops don't fit me so I spend every morning stressing about what to wear Sad It's horrible when it's still a secret and you worry about people noticing.

Lozza92 · 02/08/2016 08:02

Morning all

Elsa and Cho hope all goes well for you Flowers

Abbinobb yes I keep getting periods where the smallest thing really winds me up!

Taking the day off today had a really bad nights sleep and being sick so just can't face working today Sad

SuperDuperJezebel · 02/08/2016 08:04

Poor you Cho, I hope you get some positive news tomorrow.

Thanks for the recommendation of Pregnancy for Men, I was going to buy it for DH but I've seen it's half the price on Kindle so I've sent him the link and he can buy it himself!
