Just spoke to the doctors surgery and they said the ultrasound come will come first and then I'll meet the midwife. All very confusing!🤔

Congrats neon!

AngelBlue12 · 01/08/2016 14:14

So pleased everything is ok neon Grin

I hope I don't have twins in here - I think my DH would die at the thought of 7... Shock plus we'd have to get a different car!

wornoutboots · 01/08/2016 14:29

incidentally, SuperDuperJezebel, don't think the BP will necessarily cause you issues - I have 3 living kids and there was no problems caused by the bp or the labetolol through any of the pregnancies.

ahsan · 01/08/2016 14:31

Congrats neon Grin

ahsan · 01/08/2016 14:32

How many of you got your first appointments? Grin

neonrainbow · 01/08/2016 14:34

Thank you everyone 😂 dh is already mentally shopping for a bigger car. . We dont really need a bigger car but he likes looking for new cars. I have no idea how will fit a double buggy in our front door!!

Sorry for everyone who is feeling sick Sad

SuperDuperJezebel · 01/08/2016 14:36

That's also really helpful to know. Were you on HP medication before pregnancy? I've had high BP for years and I have to say the labetalol makes me feel a lot better than either of my previous pregnancy medications.

Dozygirl · 01/08/2016 14:41

Oh wow neon bet that was a shock! Although sounds like it may run in your family but you still don't imagine if happening to you. My friend is an identical twin and had identical twins herself which isn't genetic. Very exciting though once you get over the shock.

Great scan news missclarke

ElsaMars · 01/08/2016 14:54

Just had my scan. There is a sac but no heart beat. They are saying my dates could be wrong (they aren't) and to come back next week for another scan. I'm waiting to be seen now but don't know what for.
Can't believe it's happened again Sad

SpanielLedWeaning · 01/08/2016 14:59

Oh elsa I'm so sorry to hear that. Sending you some very unmumsnetty hugs

cyclinggirl22 · 01/08/2016 16:20

Elsa I hope everything is ok next week when you go.

I just got impatient and phoned the midwives for an appointment, got my booking in date for the 15th when I'll be 11 weeks Hmm wished it was sooner but that's the earliest hey had despite me having to go to the doctors 2 weeks ago to get into the system.

My question is though, who has taken their other halves to the booking in appointment and is it necessary? Mine wants to come but I don't want to waste his time off work

NameChange30 · 01/08/2016 16:25

Elsa I'm so sorry Sad If they want you to go back for another scan I guess they think there is still a chance, but if you're sure on the dates and your instinct is telling you there isn't, I can understand that you're not feeling hopeful. Please do go and see your GP, especially as you've been feeling down since coming off your ADs. Take care of yourself. Flowers

cycling I had my booking in appointment a few weeks ago. I went by myself and it was very boring. Just form filling. It would have been a waste of DH's time to go with me. So by all means let your DH go if he is really determined to be there for everything, but maybe explain that it will probably be a massive anti climax!

Dozygirl · 01/08/2016 16:28

Oh elsa 😓😓 so sorry to hear that. How many weeks do u think u are?

Cycling I didn't bother taking my dp but I know people have had. They just need family history but my midwife is useless and only wanted my family history when I went whereas my friend had to give details of both sides. Otherwise its just things for you like bp and blood taking and weight. So it's entirely up to you really.

Carolann8584 · 01/08/2016 16:31

cycling My OH is insisting on being at every appointment, even though I've said it will just be paperwork, but you know men, stubborn Smile he's read somewhere they might do an ultrasound or something and to quote Aerosmith he doesn't ~want to miss a thing~

x

ChoChang · 01/08/2016 16:55

neon and missclarke fantastic scan news, very happy for you both.

Elsa I'm so sorry, its such an awful thing to hear. How far along do you think you are? I hope you get better news at your follow up scan. The wait is torture I know. I agree with namechange about going back to see your gp.

I went to my appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic today. They told me to keep the appoitment even though I'm preg again now. I've come away with ALL the drugs! Because I haven't actually been seen there before I fell preg again, they haven't been able to do the tests that they'd usually do. She therefore just said that because they won't do any harm and could possibly do some good she prescribed the lot. So I've got more progesterone and strong folic acid, and now have steroids and daily injections to take in case of 'sticky blood'!

ItsMagicYouKnow · 01/08/2016 17:00

Hi everyone!

Elsa so sorry to hear your bad news. How far along do you think you are? Last time I had a scan when I was around 8 weeks, was told baby was measuring 6 weeks and the HB couldn't be found. All was well and on track with my own dates at the 12-week scan. I was just really unlucky (or lucky depending on how you look at it) that the first time the scan was done by an inexperienced intern with a dodgy machine. I don't want to get your hopes up though, I think you need to prepare for the worst. I'm so sorry (but keeping fx for a better outcome).

MissClarke Great scan pic, you must be over the moon!

neon Wow, double whammy! I would be simultaneously thrown through a loop (is that the expression?) and thrilled in your position! I've got three friends who've had twins this year already, and I think they're finding it really hard work, but the unique experience is going to make it all worth it! Congrats!

Sorry if I've missed anyone out! I've just come back from the doctor's - the all-day nausea finally got the better of me. She prescribed some homoeopathic remedy and some hard-core anti-emetic that I'm not sure I'm ill enough to take, so I probably won't. At least I'll have it there in the cupboard if it gets unbearable. She also said to try and at least drink some Coke in the evening if nothing else appeals. To be fair, I haven't really skipped a meal yet, even if it's just a toasted muffin or some plain pasta or rice. It's just making it hard for me to look after my family properly, plus I have a lot of work on my plate. I've been working away merrily from my bed today, and so I think I'll just have to ride it out. Got some Vit B6 on the way too. I'm seeing the obs-gyno next week too, so she might suggest something new.

How are all you other ladies with "MS" coping? Can't remember who was talking about jacket potatoes, but I went and got some to roast this evening Grin When it gets to about 7 p.m. I can't even face opening the fridge, but I might be able to stick a few potatoes in the oven! I'm lucky because I have a couple of local shops I can walk to every day and pick out things I think I might fancy. We always end up with a random collection of food and drink as it changes on a daily basis Confused

ElsaMars · 01/08/2016 17:12

Just got home. Doc tried to put a bit of a positive spin on it saying it could be too early. I had a 6 week scan with DD so I don't really believe that.

What was really bloody hard was having to sit and wait for DH to pick me up and seeing lots of heavily pregnant women and newborn babies, it was quite upsetting.

I have another scan next week, which I'm absolutely dreading. No fetal pole at 6+ 4 is never going to have a positive outcome is it?

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 01/08/2016 17:19

Elsa so sorry to hear your news, really hope it's better news at your next scan. The waiting is so horrible. Sending hugs.

Neon blimey, twins, that's wonderful news, my DH is desperately wishing for twins, I think I'd be very pleased and slightly terrified. How exciting!

I've just come back from my 8wk appointment. All good, MW is lovely, I thought I'd be consultant lead due to being an old bird of 39 but she is happy to keep me 'low key' for the foreseeable.

Only slight concern is that she's advised me to find a back up birth partner as DH is away long haul 4 x per month. I'd tried not to think about it too much but she said 'baby will come whenever it wants so I'd best be prepared to carry on without DH' HmmConfused

Who the flip do I ask? DM and I are not close and I really don't think she'd cope probably just stress me more, wouldn't drive, needs to be home to look after her blessed dogs I have a couple of girl friends but all have kids/jobs...at least I have a while to think!

ChoChang · 01/08/2016 17:24

Elsa I'm not trying to give you false hope or anything, but my ivf clinic won't do a first scan til 7 weeks, and my local hospital won't do them til 8 weeks because they say before that its just to unpredictable as to what you can see. So while you may often see fetal pole and heartbeat at 6 and a bit weeks, its also very possible you wont.the only reason they will scan earlier is for bleeding and that's mainly to check the pregnancy is in the right place.

I've been in that waiting room scenario before and it's the absolute worst, hang in there xx

Newbie7077 · 01/08/2016 17:24

Elsa I'm so sorry to hear that :( that's an awful thing to go through. Hoping for a positive outcome. This is my first pg but it does seem like its quite early still. There was something in the paper when I looked the other day about misdiagnosed miscarriages and how doctors should be careful not to give a definite too soon because early scan results can be so variable. It could just be hiding. Fingers crossed.

I called my go surgery today to check if I could get a transv scan due to the horrendous cramps from yday to check it was all OK before going on holiday but apparently you have to be continously bleeding to get one (or have a history of mc). Grh.

NameChange30 · 01/08/2016 17:28

Monkey
Do you have a sister that you're close to? If not, you could find a doula.
Is there any chance that your DH could avoid booking any overseas work trips for the 10 days before and after your due date? Could someone cover for him or could he just postpone?
I do think your midwife is right about you needing a back up option!

Carolann8584 · 01/08/2016 17:32

itsmagic it was me with the jacket potatoes, only thing that doesn't make me think ewww when deciding what to eat. Going to try and throw some beans on mine for dinner Grin x

MissClarke86 · 01/08/2016 17:53

I really want a jacket potato now too!

alphabook · 01/08/2016 17:58

Wonderful news Louise, Neon and MissClarke.

Oh Elsa, I'm so sorry. Please don't give up hope. I was over 6 weeks when I had my first scan, there was only a gestational sac and a possible yolk sac. I was told I was almost definitely having a miscarriage, referred for miscarriage counselling etc. By 8 weeks the baby measured exactly right and there was a heartbeat. And I have a friend where the exact same thing happened to her. I don't want to give you false hope but it really is 50/50 when its so early, you just can't know for sure what's happening when everything is so small. I have everything crossed for your next scan x

Elsa I'm really sorry Sad it might be too early? I read around 8-9 weeks to see a heartbeat.

Cycling i dont think you dh needs to go to booking in. Its just forms and blood tests.
