PMSL at Huckleberry Finn! Love it.
Yeah, poor BigOnion. I would much prefer BigOnion to a fireman - honestly guv!

I got an eternity ring ages after dd was born. I rolled it in with dd's birth, us being together 10 years and something else! Also, the fact that a friend had bought his wife a ring made dh bend!

GMM - I think dh supports the reds, although tbh he is not a big football fan either. I think he wants to go for the experience of it all!

runnyhabbit · 23/01/2007 15:33

Good grief - think I've been away for an hour and have loads to catch up on

Who mentioned Clive Owen as a fireman with mint Aero. Now having lots of thoughts

LOL at names - liking all the suggestions. Dh has been so convinced its a boy, he's been point blank refusing to think of any girls names But he's thought of Niamh, and last night also asked if Ruby could go on the list - yay - really really like Ruby So atm if its a girl it will be Ruby Kate.

Our ds is Joshua - can highly recommend it. I like the fact that when its shortened, it still sounds like a name iyswim. Dh is Nick, which I love (only his mum calls him Nicholas though)

CD - walk past a jewellers, look at eternity rings and say to dh, if you were to buy me an eternity, thats the one I would like (and point at one you like) if you do this enough times, he will take the hint (well, worked with dh when I wanted to get engaged )

runnyhabbit · 23/01/2007 15:38

GMM - no need to apologise, thats we are all hear for - a shoulder to cry on, and to let off some steam to you xx

12weeksandcounting · 23/01/2007 15:40

Or simply cut a picture out of a magazine!

Dogs are more obedient, but would have to go for a man myself - not into that kind of thing ROFL

12weeksandcounting · 23/01/2007 15:42

Am going to log off now for evening before ds2 floods bathroom playing with toys in sink - has just shouted down stairs 'mummy, it's raining in my bedroom'

CaptainDippy · 23/01/2007 15:44

Guess what!!!!??

I'm eating an Areo Mint Choc!!!

Yum!

I hinted to friend who works round the corner that Bump needed one and she popped one round - Awwwww!

12weeks - Woah - bloody hell woman - this is only my third - Where'd this other one you're talking about come from!!!!? Perhaps it is BigOnion's Love Child!!!?

SPSOL - Mmmmm, DH and I have been together ten years this Feb and married for five in August. I know exactly the ring I would like - and so does he, best keep "nagging", eh!!?

runny - It was me who mentioned Clive Owen as a Fireman with Mint Choc Areo - I've got the choc, now I just need Fireman Clive. Do you think my friend can arrange that too!!!? Loving Ruby Kate - very sweet!

geordiemacminx · 23/01/2007 15:50

can you get an eternity ring if you arent married or does that not make sense?

maveta · 23/01/2007 15:55

Hi Girls

Been quite busy with my big sis here but she´s gone now so I´m all yours again I´ve tried to keep up with the conversation but have missed so much I don´t know where to start!

Of course as always I love the cat talk, Samson is just gorgeous. We finally got ours back. After 3 nights out and a night of rain we figured nothing was going to make him come back in, he´s so stubborn. Took the bars off the window, had to leap out on to the terrace, tempt him with food and grab him. He was totally freaked out at first but is now sleeping happily on the sofa. What anxiety they cause us, if it´s not one it´s the other!

Mine also jump up on the counters although they know they shouldn´t and jump down when they see us. Might try the aluminium paper thing to keep them off when we aren´t there to yell at them. They also used to sleep in our bed but we´re being strict and putting them in the kitchen in preparation for the baby coming. They´ve actually taken it pretty well but then the kitchen is ENORMOUS and they have plenty of space to still run and play etc.

I´ve had quite a few people suggest there´s some incompatability between having a baby and having kids but I don´t get it. I think it´s a non-cat-owner thing. I´m sure there´ll be an adjustment period and their noses might be out of joint for a few days but that´s it really. Am certainly not worried about the cats killing/ scratching/ biting/ smothering the baby in the slightest.

Right, going to carry on reading and will be right back!! xxx

CaptainDippy · 23/01/2007 15:56

Yes, you could see it as a "Promise".

geordiemacminx · 23/01/2007 16:01

A promise of what though... that is the question...

nuttygirl · 23/01/2007 16:02

Well finally got a decent night's sleep last night! Although it's not helping me to remember things any better...have no idea what I was going to post.

CD - I like Phoebe but DH wasn't keen, not sure about Arthur but think that's because I knew someone at school with that name not because I don't like the name IYSWIM.

Really like Erin, think it's becoming our first choice. Need a middle name to go with it, quite like Grace or Lily. If it's born on April 3rd tho, it's middle name will be Jane after my grandmother (she died in 1999 but her birthday was april 3rd).

Starting to think about the birth more and have been testing DH on his knowledge to make sure he's been listening to me. LMAO at him doing hand grasping motion cos he couldn't remember 'forceps' and "the von trapp plunger thingy" .

flumppootle · 23/01/2007 16:03

Dont see why not GMM. Dont think that I have much chance of an eternity ring. Didn't get my proper wedding ring until 4 years after we were married worth the wait though and he designed it himself

The battleknickers did not work. Nearly got run over trying to shut the school gates
I kid you not this pair of old gits nearly had the bump of me. Had shut one gate and was standing in the middle of the entrance (locking it) when they drove straight through the other half of the entrance at speed
Just to give you an idea, two cars cannot fit through this gap, never mind a gate a bump and a car. Was shaking like a leaf.
Have compalined to headmaster who is horrified. He know has his battlelnickers on - LOL

flumppootle · 23/01/2007 16:05

Meant now not know - still fuming

flumppootle · 23/01/2007 16:06

Meant battleknickers aswell Can you tell how cross I am????

maveta · 23/01/2007 16:11

MIABT - forgot to say Jasper is gorgeous aswell! My ginger was also a stray but was about 3 months when I picked him up. Was the most pathetic sorry looking creature ever, almost blind with conjunctivis, skinny, dirty with black dirty ears. Dh couldn´t believe it but even his heart was melted. As soon as I ´caught´ him I held him in the shower by his scruff to try and clean the worst off him before taking him to the vet. He looked like a drowned diseased rat. He´s so pretty now but definitely retains a lot of trauma from spending his first few months alone, think he had been separated from this mother far too young as he didn´t clean himself properly or even know how to jump (!) until we got another new kitten, from a home this time, a month or two later. He has very odd habits like if he doesn´t like the smell of his cat food, he´ll scratch the floor near it as if it´s shit he´s trying to cover up

WIll see if I can get my profile sorted out today and get some pics up.

BBCK - sorry about your parents´cat - mine have two 17 year olds that just seem to keep on going. We´ve had them since I was 11, it´ll be so sad when they go. Good luck for your GTT - I HATE fasting!!

maveta · 23/01/2007 16:14

GMM - so sorry you are feeling crap. I´m sure you must be feeling extra sensitive this week for your first baby´s anniversary. I´ve not even had one yet but I know for sure that no matter how many I may have each one will be so special in it´s own way and longing for/ missing one in no way detracts from your love for any of the others.

The other stuff is bound to feel like just a few things too many on top of an already sad anniversary, try and take some time to be nice to yourself and treat yourself to something nice, even if it´s just a hot bath and some chocolate and alone time. thinking of you x

geordiemacminx · 23/01/2007 16:17

Thanks Maveta...

Oooh thats weird, my cat does the scratching thing too... I thought it was just him... his bowl is in front of the french doors, and sometimes he scratches the floor other times its the window... it looks like he's trying to wash them IYKWIM?

AngeG · 23/01/2007 16:23

Good afternoon ladies, just got back from work and wow you lot have been talking again. I can't keep up.

To all those feeling low i'm sending loads and loads of [[[[hugs]]]] your way.

SPD not too bad today seems to have settled down a bit. Thanks to all those thinking and asking about it. No crutches for me yet, but think they would really have helped my shopping trip at the weekend.

I cannot now sleep in bed with DH. Either he wakes me up snoring or I wake up and need a wee or I wake up because my SPD is painful. Find I have a better nights sleep in the spare room Also no action for me DH is worried about making my SPD worse, bless him, could do with a good seeing to though

GMM - Charlie Chambers is lovely

CD - Love your names phoebe and arthur are lovely

Hotlips - I really like taylor off you list. DH doesn't though.

We've finally come to some form of a decision on names.......Already got Jake William

For a boy either Zack or Robert (probably Robbie)Fredric (DH Dad's middle name) Jake's is William after my Dad.

For a girl Isobelle Clair, not sure on spelling yet for either first or second names.

What do you think?

maveta · 23/01/2007 16:31

CaptainDippy - I really like your choice of names, very cute.
Can´t think of anything good to go with Harrison but have a feeling it should be a shorter name, one syllable. How about Sam/ Samuel?

Liking all the names you´ve all suggested.. we´ve had our name (Noah) chosen for ages, was surprisingly easy given that we are both extremely indecisive people. No middle name, here in Spain the kids have two surnames already so don´t want to lumber the poor mite with two first names too (I have two first and two last and it´s a pita!) Besides, we so easily chose the first name it feels like we´d be tempting fate trying to choose a second. Ever since we decided we´ve been able to tell people ´he´ll be called Noah´ so they tend not to say anything if they don´t like it, as it´s a done deal, no opinions asked!! It is said almost identically in english and spanish with the sliiiiightest accent difference and I really like the way dh says it..more like ´No´ (imagine saying No in spanish i.e. short ´o´ not long ´o´ as in english) then ´a´ No.ah.

I have no idea if that made sense. I am definitely babbling.

I love the idea of getting a present from dh on birth of the baby but to be honest I would be more stressed out at the thought of how he would pay for it then it was worth! We just don´t have a spare penny at the moment so think any ´Thank you my love´ gifts will have to wait til nearer our silver anniversary!!

Wow, it´s taking me forever to catch up!

maveta · 23/01/2007 16:49

GMM - exactly! How strange, I just thought it was my freaky cat. It makes me feel bad sometimes, like they really do think their food smells like shit (let´s face it, it sometimes does!)

Just reloaded my page and sorry that all my posts seem so random and unconnected with recent conversation: just trying to catch up! Sorry for everyone I have no doubt forgotten.

The baby shopping has moved up a gear, we now have the cot which should be delivered this week (mattress on order and I have a feeling it´s going to take forever to arrive), an Avent IQ 24 bottle steriliser (out of interest, do these things hold any kind of bottle or only the same make??) and baby monitors. All of this courtest of my lovely mum. And we have also now got the chest of drawers (the top of which will double as baby changer) from Ikea and a baby bath seat/slope thing. Think today I am finally going to order my sling - Who else said they were going to buy the Freedom sling? that´s the one I´m getting too.. and maybe the nappies (God I am taking an age over the nappies, it feels like the most potentially wasteful thing to buy if I don´t use them, think that´s why I´m being so hesitant).

And that´s a significant amount of the essentials, or at least the most costly things. I´m hoping SIL will hand down her electric breast pump as I know she´s done with it and they can be quite expensive but also seems kind of like a weird thing to get second hand??! or is that just me?

It´s kind of lovely/scary/weird seeing little baby things accumulating around the house...

maveta · 23/01/2007 16:51

OCTOBER 2007 THREAD HAS ARRIVED! OHMYGOD!

AngeG · 23/01/2007 16:57

Hi Maveta

Sounds like you're getting really organised now.

Sterilsers can hold any type of bottles you may find they sometimes fit less bottles if it's meant for narrow neck bottles rather than wide neck. The Avent one is meant for wide neck bottles, which IMO are the easiest type wide neck that it not Avent.

With Jake who was 6wks prem I found that he couldn't actually suck much out of the Avent bottles because the teats were so hard, when the neo natal nurse gave me NUK teats he drank loads of milk really quickly, made me feel guilty that I hadn't noticed before. This time I've gone for the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles. I know what you mean about the Breast Bump, but it's going to be washed and sterilsed so don't think it's a problem.

Can't believe there is a due in October 2007 thread already

muminabigtumi · 23/01/2007 17:01

Dooby - I don't know but I will find out re Spinal and Epidural as I have got my appointment through to see the anesthetist on 13th Feb and he will go through all that with me...will be given spinal this time as last time epidural didn't work properly....
