A thread for all of us who have very recently discovered we're upduffed, with a due date of the achingly-long-away February 2017. It's early days for us all so there's lots of good news, sad news, sage advice and never-too-silly questions.

Second thread already! First is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2642653-Due-in-February-2017?

Sounds like you guys are waiting a bit longer then. DH really wants me to tell my boss, (not any other colleagues), I think because he wants me to take it easy and be able to go for appointments etc, my midwife one is next Tuesday so was planning to take morning off as holiday if I didn't tell her. She has two under 6 and I'm sure she knows how it is, but at the same time is a bit of a superwoman and won't put up with any slacking on my part.

Hmmm... DH has his heart in the right place but I don't want to get replaced before I've even left! Will be 8 weeks on Thursday and scan looked good so I guess that's not toooo early...

gumbootsandjandals · 20/06/2016 19:33

Last pg I had to tell my manager and the colleague I work most closely with when I was 6 weeks as felt so sick.

I've just come back from mat leave. New managers and colleagues. It's a bit awkward. Hopefully I will make it in for my half day on Wed and can then fess up. Feel sicker than last time Sad

My friend's nanny told her she was pg at 35 weeks. Friend had no idea! I've met the nanny. Slightly overweight but not enough to hide a baby for that long. So for anyone wanting to keep things under wraps a bit longer - there is hope!

Masweetpea1 · 20/06/2016 19:40

gumboots, you're similar to me, I'm still on maternity leave, back to work on 4 July when I'll be 8 weeks pregnant! I'm going to tell my boss before i go back (partly because i have a poorly eye and when pregnant have to go to the hospital very regularly for them to monitor it) but my team has changed so much since i went on mat leave. There's about 30 in the team, i now only know about 6 of them which is crazy as I've worked there for 5 years! So not only nervous about returning but also nervous as I'll be returning pregnant. I will be super unpopular! Blush

FriendlyGhost · 20/06/2016 20:01

So much to catch up on!
I went to my Drs appointment today. They're going to send a letter to my chosen hospital to get things going. They were happy for me to choose one of about 5 in the area. It's starting to feel a bit more real now. I'm still slightly concerned that my symptoms were much worse with dd but maybe they were later on. I just can't remember. All I remember is spending a good few weeks wanting to stay in bed because I felt so sick. I guess every pregnancy is different. Maybe it's a boy this time!
I have a feeling it's a girl but maybe that's what I can imagine because I already have one. Can't wait to find out!!
I have no idea when to tell my work. I actually handed in my notice a couple of weeks ago to become a SAHM but they've asked if they can keep me on retainer to do some freelance work. I will be signing some sort of contract with them but I think I might leave it until I'm 12 weeks or more to say anything. As it'll be ad hoc work I don't think it will matter or bother them too much.

Masweetpea1 · 20/06/2016 20:14

Somebody slap me!

I just went out and bought a load more tests! I want to see the 3+, which i know is ridiculous and also the darker line too. Haven't told hubby! Blush
Though the line did appear way before the control line! Blush. Not done the cb one yet......

Readytosettle · 20/06/2016 20:27

My main concern with telling work is that it's pay review time. Pay rises kick in from July & I'm not sure how late they'll be agreeing them. I want to get the best I can, and pretty sure they'll knock at least a grand off if they know that I'm pregnant (ie no longer a flight risk).

Hopeful83 · 20/06/2016 20:28

Hello everyone. Can I please join? Got my BFP yesterday, think I'm due 22nd Feb. This will be DC2. Thanks!

PhoebeGeebee · 20/06/2016 20:30

I've no real inkling what I'm having but six people have told me I'm having a boy. We're definitely going to find out, I could never wait til the birth, I'm far too impatient!

Re: work, my assistant has just told me she's pregnant (due three weeks before me) so she's going to need to tell me and my boss both together once she's had her 12 week scan. I reckon it's only fair that I tell my boss then too (I should be 9+5 by then) instead of waiting another few weeks to drop the bombshell that she'll have to replace both of us. I think she may cry...

gumbootsandjandals · 20/06/2016 20:47

Welcome hopeful

We actually have something of a pregnancy epidemic in my workplace. My manager has just gone on mat leave (due next week) and our other colleague is due back from mat leave in Oct. We are quite a small team and mat leave doesn't tend to get covered properly so lots of stuff doesn't get done. I work in the NHS, which is of course a female dominated workplace, so these things are not unexpected however that doesn't mean people won't get a bit annoyed. The consultant I work with practically hugged me with relief when she saw me last week. I'll tell her last!

Hazandduck · 20/06/2016 21:16

It is so interesting how many of us seem to have little inklings. OH said tonight "you're too impatient to wait!" which I think is reverse psychology because I am so stubborn and will want to prove I can wait...but then he may be manipulating me in to finding out what we're having lol! Ah it's all so exciting. It will be so interesting to see how many of us were correct! I think I will wait and see and have a green and white nursery with little gold details. Oh man I'm getting carried away again! Roll on 12 week scan ! X

GinandJazzHands · 20/06/2016 21:22

Evening all! giraffes I'm thinking of you let us know how you are getting on ChocolateBrew
5 weeks tomorrow and I have my first GP appointment first thing then too. No idea what to expect, sounds from this thread like it varies. DH wants to come with me but not even sure whether they will let him in with me? Got home from work today and slept like a log for two hours; not a good sign this early on as I imagine the tiredness will only get worse! No sickness yet just bloated, weeing a lot and still the odd tummy pain. I'm
Hoping to hold off as long as possible before telling work but will fess up if nausea gets bad as it will be impossible to hide.

SkyLucy · 20/06/2016 21:39

I started bleeding today - nothing major, but enough to be terrified! Was in the sodding Lake District so had to have a bizarre call with my GP on the train back home. She's referred me to an EPU - I should get a scan in the next couple of days.

DH is working in USA from tomorrow til Friday, so we had to tell my ma + pa tonight (I will need some support at/after the scan) - not quite how I'd imagined breaking the news...and not the news I wanted to break.

Was very upset earlier but now feeling calmer...what will be, will be.

Hazandduck · 20/06/2016 21:47

Skylucy oh how horrible and such awful timing with your husband going away! I really hope it is good news for you, but respect you for being calm about it all, it is good your folks know as they can look after you be it good or bad news it is something better shared! Xxx

FriendlyGhost · 20/06/2016 21:47

I hope it's nothing Sky. So many ladies on here have had bleeding and been fine so fingers crossed it's the same for you.
Gin my appointment was about 5 minutes. Dr asked if I'd done a home test and then which hospital I wanted him to refer me to. Then a couple of quick questions on my previous caesarean and that was it. They just need it on record really as it's the midwives that do the main booking in.

Readytosettle · 20/06/2016 21:56

I second friendly on the GP apt Gin, was very quick & just a bit of a box tick. Maybe suggest DH joins ur first mw appointment. Mine's at 10 weeks and will be 1 hour long.

SkyLucy · 20/06/2016 22:23

Thanks haz and friendly x

wispaxmas · 20/06/2016 22:31

skylucy, FX everything is fine and the scan goes well! Rubbish timing, but hopefully you get the scan quickly! My EPU called me the day after my GP referred me with a same day appointment, so I expect you'll hear from them tomorrow!

wispaxmas · 20/06/2016 22:34

I have absolutely no inkling whatsoever as to the sex of this baby. Last time I was SURE it was a girl and it was, but there's a 50/50 chance of being right and my friend was equally convinced she was having a boy, didn't find out at the scan, and then was so surprised to have a girl in the end. I would have needed to know I was having a boy whilst pregnant I think, because I was so sure. Also, I know this is terrible, but I wanted a girl last time. I know boys are lovely, too, but it wasn't a conscious thing, I just dreamt about a little girl and desperately wanted one. This time around I don't seem fussed, but DH has said he would like a boy. Don't think he'd mind either way, though, really.

LuckyinOctober · 20/06/2016 22:49

Thoughts are with you sky lucy and flying Flowers

Sad to read Jodie's news too.

My nausea intruded into this afternoon, and the gagging verged on vomiting, particularly when near the fridge. I have itchy acne spots on my normally clear skinned forehead. My stomach is a giant beachball. Also have the greasy hair thing. I'm loving watermelon as my panacea for nausea and exhaustion, had the M&S watermelon cooler on the way home from work, was nice to feel briefly human. 7+4 today, I'm still pregnant.

Jojoclaire · 20/06/2016 23:00

Thinking of you skylucy I'm glad you're feeling calmer. Helps so much to feel in control and prepared either way.

wispa I think DH really wants a girl, well I know he does, he's been talking about taking her ice skating etc which is very cute, but I'm a bit more neutral.

To be honest I'm a little bit scared of having a girl as I don't get on that well with my mum and don't have siblings. We weren't planning to have more than one, so I kind of worry history might repeat itself if it's a girl... I want to get excited too but need to get over my anxiety! Blush At the same time, if it's a boy I'm not looking forward to getting wee-ed in the face Shock

birdboo · 21/06/2016 00:00

Hello ladies. Can I join please. Just got our bfp today after trying through endo (and being told it was highly unlikely) convincing naturally. Feels very surreal.

Apparently my due date is 24th Feb.

Hazandduck · 21/06/2016 02:43

Hi birdboo and congratulations! X

HighHopes16 · 21/06/2016 06:23

Morning all,
I thought I'd do my last cb test just to make sure everything's ok & was happy to see 3+ this morning. Smile

Due in February 2017...thread #2!
Evergreen17 · 21/06/2016 06:41

Brilliant High hopes how far are you?

I am counting the days to 7 weeks and getting as distracted as I can with work and plans Smile

Scarydinosaurs · 21/06/2016 07:00

high it's a good feeling, isn't it? I did the exact same thing yesterday as I had one left and wanted to have that reassurance.

6+2 today and it feels as if it's going so quickly already!

I've been signed off for two weeks, so going to try and rest, get my new medication and eat some red meat today 😫.

Anyone else hitting the wall of nausea this morning? I can't stand up without feeling incredibly sick.
