A thread for all of us who have very recently discovered we're upduffed, with a due date of the achingly-long-away February 2017. It's early days for us all so there's lots of good news, sad news, sage advice and never-too-silly questions.

Second thread already! First is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2642653-Due-in-February-2017?

I did some research online and it said most if the time it's due to tiredness also our heart will have 15 more beats per minute when pregnant. Good luck to all of us

Kellz92 · 20/06/2016 13:55

Ah thats not too bad then, x

CeeCeeEnnEss · 20/06/2016 14:19

I've had to come home from work because my nausea is so bad. I was actually sick in my mouth at a meeting this morning and had to swallow it Envy (

wispaxmas · 20/06/2016 14:28

ma, midwife told me they don't do the Doppler until 16 wk appt last time, but could be different everywhere!

I love Pinterest for home stuff and I just used it to make a wish list for DD's birthday! Evergreen, you've got to sign up, it's not just pinning photos, they also link to the website you found them, so it's very handy for picking out things to buy or recipes to try or diy projects!

Highhopes, yes, I would think so! 6 weeks is the very early threshold and I saw a flicker then, but by 7 weeks it should be more easily seen. Good luck Flowers

Fenella, my mw appt wasn't until 10 weeks last time, it's 8+6 this time and that's with me self-referring at 4 weeks. I think it's really normal not to be seen earlier.

Flying, absolutely everything crossed for you!!!

Phoebe, I had the odd drink last pregnancy and was totally fine.. Saturday I was served a glass of prosecco at the ILs - I always have one, only one as I am the driver in the family, so thought it would be easy to have just one to not give away the game, but OMG one sip and I thought I would be sick!!! I had to pretend to drink it and kept nipping to the loo to pour a bit out! That one sip didn't give me a hangover, though, hah.

Ginger, I'm asthmatic, usually really well controlled by a low dose of inhaled steroid, but last pregnancy I ended up in a&e with an attack! It seems that 1/3 of asthmatics see an improvement in their asthma, 1/3 see no change, and the other 1/3 get worse. I'm in the last group and I've already started noticing it this time as well, so have increased my meds. I would recommend getting in to see you asthma nurse for a check.

wispaxmas · 20/06/2016 14:33

Phew, so much to reply to Shock

7+5 today and made the mistake of having wagamama for lunch. I love wagamama, but it made me feel so ill I wanted to cry Sad

Anyone who isn't too superstitious, I'd totally recommend doing some summer sale shopping. I had my 20 wk scan in January last time and got loads in the sales then. When the mothercare summer sale starts I am DEFINITELY picking up some little bird bits for this one!

Ginger06 · 20/06/2016 14:47

Wispaxmas I wish I could go shopping all
I'm doins is sleeping I was very active before this pregnancy don't know what's wrong with me now the slightest effort makes me nauseous and dizzy. I miss my daily walk in the park

Kellz92 · 20/06/2016 15:04

CeeCee i was like that with my daughter and im like that again this time, thankfully i have stopped being sick thanks to the tablets.
Glow? i cant remember glowing last time lol

Wispa My mw last time didnt do doppler til 16 weeks either. And i too love Pinterest, i go on there for my crochet patterns, home idea, recipes, arts and crafts with DD, did my wedding, tattoos i like etc lol
I will be getting bits in the sael, DD was born around the same time as this one and got loads in the winter sale, my scan will be in July anyway, just dont want to buy tooo much since i will be finding out gender. I have already started crocheting a hat in black and white, infact its nearly finished, and im looking for a blanket pattern. When i was preg with DD i learned to crochet and the first thing i did was a blanket for DD and its still her fave! so must do it again :) xx

Jojoclaire · 20/06/2016 15:15

Kellz in trying to learn to crochet too but it's a slow process... I've just about mastered a granny square but have seen some nice chevron blanket designs, I'd love to make one but can't follow a pattern to save my life.

Totally with everyone on the nausea, I was proper sick last night just from the smell of potato gratin as I took it out of the oven, having only eaten ice cream all day. And have tried to force down a salad at work today, so glad I sit very near the loos!

Think I'm going to tell my boss this week. 8 weeks, though it doesn't seem that long since I told her about the m/c...

Anyone else telling work people soon? Will they want to have meetings about leave right from the start? I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet?

Hazandduck · 20/06/2016 15:15

Ah thank you for the reassurance, I have been bone-tired the last couple of weeks, so not like me. I never, ever nap or fall asleep easily but I struggle to keep my eyes open right now!

I am not brave enough to buy anything yet!

I have caved in and taken a hayfever tablet today, I was just feeling so awful with it, throat closing up, puffy eyes and nose like a tap! Sorry for the TMI lol.

Ginger scarydinosaurs and kells I keep saying to my OH when I am so tired and zapped of energy I can't be bothered to cook or do anything but lay down, "Look I've grown an eyelid today!" Lol. I think it helps him understand how I feel now he has started reading all the books! xx

Birdlet · 20/06/2016 15:22

Scarydinosaurs me too!! I'm convinced l that it's a boy. Convinced!

With you all on the being out of breath, and also the greasy hair and skin Sad I'm so spotty, it's horrible!!

Hazandduck · 20/06/2016 15:36

Birdlet I don't know why I'm convinced I'm having a girl! So weird lol. Will you find out at 20wk scan? My partner and I pinky promised (very serious) that we wouldn't find out but I am starting to wonder if I can wait! X

Kellz92 · 20/06/2016 15:41

Jojo i can easy help you if you need it, i have a massive granny square on my kingsize bed :) you will get the hang. i love chevron blankets!! I tol;d work last time at 8 weeks due to sickness, i will tell work before my 12 weeks if i have another bleed, if no ill carry on. Dont think youll get your meeting until later about all that.

Haz im that tired too, i just almost napped at work haha!! but im ok now ish! Yeah im really exhausted, and between tiredness and sickness i can barely cook a proper meal, the sight of raw meat and chicken making me gag lol

Bird im really spotty just now too :(

hav im convinces its a girl too!! i will be booking a gender scan for after my holiday in end of august. You dont get told at the hospital here incase of mistakes so will be going private. Me and DH do pinky promises too...they are really serious!!

xx

MarjorySunshineDust · 20/06/2016 15:42

Jojo I've told my manager already as job can be a bit risky and wanted her to be aware. Not planning on telling anyone else for a while if I can get away with it though! Will just see how it goes. I ended up telling them all at about 8 weeks last time I think as I was so sick.

I'm crocheting a big blanket for my dd at the moment (attic24 cupcake stripe) Going to start on a new one for the baby once it's finished!

Kellz92 · 20/06/2016 15:47

haz not hav

Kellz92 · 20/06/2016 15:48

marjory i love that one attic 24 have fab patterns x

gumbootsandjandals · 20/06/2016 17:14

I just threw up Pom Bears. Not impressed with this new development.

Readytosettle · 20/06/2016 17:19

8 weeks today & nausea has stepped up a gear, nearly didn't make it out the house this morn but managed to force down a very small banana. Have felt terrible all day :-( just need to try and get thru this week without telling work as scan on Sunday. Ideally I want to wait til I'm 10 weeks (and absolutely have to fess up then as we're going on a boozy work trip).

Readytosettle · 20/06/2016 17:20

Oh no gum Pom bears is one of my 'safe' foods....along with English breakfast muffins.

LondonGirl83 · 20/06/2016 17:23

Haz I am 5+2 and I have very sore boobs all the time, bouts of exhaustion, very mild nausea and stretching pains. The stretching pains and corresponding bloating is definitely getting more intense today! Also, much more short of breath when exercising and a couple of spots which is weird for me.

flying bleeding is so common. If you still feel pregnant I really wouldn't worry though definitely go get yourself checked out.

Scary I have the strongest feeling its a boy. No logical reason why! I'd be thrilled with either.

Jojo I was thinking I wouldn't say anything to work until quite late. Not sure why but somehow I just don't feel like telling them until I have to.

I've told two of my closest friends but no one else in RL. However, lots of people have guessed as I'm not drinking (very unusual) and being careful about food (not like me at all). Once you are a woman of a certain age who is married, if you refuse anything to eat or drink people flat out ask you if you are pregnant which I find super disconcerting!

Birdlet · 20/06/2016 17:38

Haz pinkie promises are deadly serious!! We're definitely 100% finding out because in the words of DH 'you're so convinced it's a boy that if we don't find out I'm not sure I can trust you to not just paint the nursery blue anyway' 😂😂😂

Dreamingoutloud7 · 20/06/2016 18:25

haz I will definitely find out what we're having, I would panic too much about clothes if we didn't know who to buy for! Plus I'm 100% convinces it's a girl so would lean towards girl things and then if we have a boy I'd be stood there like Blush

JoJo I'm not saying anything to work until I have a scan I think, luckily I'm thinking of having a scan at 9 weeks and I'm working very little between 5-8 weeks due to holidays that it should be ok. Even then I think it would only be line manager, colleagues can wait a bit longer.

Lucy1308 · 20/06/2016 18:29

So having said that I don't feel nauseous at all I have just realised that I feel dreadful. It had better not get worse!! I love food too much!!

CeeCeeEnnEss · 20/06/2016 18:39

I don't know when to tell work. I just got a new boss, and a new boss' boss, who both have clear visions for the department and my role within it. Not sure whether to let as much as possible happen so I can build something for when I come back, or to be upfront.

Lucy1308 · 20/06/2016 18:58

I think I'm quite lucky with work in that because I work in a private household that I won't have to say anything for ages. And when I do I'm hoping (all being well) that I won't have to stop doing anything until I'm about to drop! I'm not planning on having a scan until my normal dating one (all being well) so will likely tell them then once I have a proper date and half an idea of when maternity leave will likely start.

Ubercorn · 20/06/2016 19:07

Sorry have been AWOL, been feel absolutely wretched. I'm going to have a read of the thread so far once the DC are all in bed.

I'm lucky with work too, I'm self-employed and I work from home. I've got three contracts ending next month, I'm taking the summer holidays off then I'm only taking on temporary contracts in September with a view to starting maternity leave just after Christmas.
