Summers here and bumps are busy growing. Scans photos are coming thick and fast and team pink and blue are rampining up their numbers.

We have new grads furiously POAS, second trimesters eager for their bumps and veterans about to embark on trimester 3 and contemplating baby size with mild terror apprehension.

The weathers to hot for comfort and our pregnancy aches, pains and symptoms are getting on our tits literally in some cases !!

All are welcome to TTC#1 grads thread #6

Lovely scan feef!!

Haven't bought anything yet but scoped out prams yesterday - will likely go for a lightweight one as at 4'11 I'll struggle to carry a heavier pram around. BabyZen Yoyo, iCandy Raspberry and a Giggle are all good options all under 7kg. So impressed at how organised you are bunch!!!

miley hope your headache and migraine have disappeared!

So I don't have a weighing scale at home and I was at my sister's place and weighed myself for the first time since my booking appointment at 9w ... I'm 19w now and I weigh almost 1kg less than at booking? I've read some ideal weigh gain charts and on average I should have gained 2.5-5kg by now should I be worried? I think I'm eating well and snack in between. I just can't eat big meals anymore as I get full really easily. I'm worried my little bee is not getting enough food just wondering what everyone's weight gain experience has been at 19w. I may well have lost and re-gained weight in that 10w time period but I want to make sure I'm eating enough.

LillianFullStop · 30/05/2016 14:32

Woah just saw your list potato! So impressed! takes notes

Pinklily1 · 30/05/2016 14:55

Lovely scan Feef! Glad all was well.

Lillian - I weighed 6lbs mor eon my midwifes scales at booking in that I did on the scales at home, at my parents and at the gym, so I'm guessing the midwives scales were slightly out for me.It could be something like that?

Potato - i'm impressed by the list of what you've bought today!

For maternity/ sanitary towels, how many are people getting as a starting point? I want to have enough for hospital and the first few days, and then can easily pop out for some more or send someone else out.

Hope everyone else is well.

PotatosMum · 30/05/2016 16:12

Pink I ended up getting heavy flow night time pads instead of maternity ones as the maternity ones in ASDA were very thick and looked quite uncomfortable. I got 36 as a starter which should see me through the first few days.

I've just been researching my mortgage provider. Wish I'd done that weeks ago. Apparently it's really common for them to come back asking for more documents 2 or 3 times and normal for them to take 5 or so weeks to make a decision. It also looks like they have quite a good record for approvals they just tend to haul people over the coals before they say yes. I'm hoping this means we will get our approval in the next couple of weeks.

Great scan feef glad all is well! Are you going to announce it to friends and family now?

Thanks ladies, I am just being a bit crazy about the gender and the scan in general I think. I'm sure everything will be fine and there will be a healthy little girl in there. Fingers crossed!!

I have seriously nothing organised except for (unbuilt) nursery furniture, a pram and a blanket. Need to get my list out and start buying ASAP!
Anyone with an iCandy or thinking of an iCandy which car seat did you get? We have the adapters for the car/pram?! (that's what DH tells me I have no idea what they are for)
We just don't know which car seat to go with or are they all pretty much the same?

Pinklily1 · 30/05/2016 18:09

Indi, we are getting an iCandy peach, and the Be Safe car seat - you can get them in Mothercare and John Lewis. We also looked at the Maxi Cosi Pebble Plus, but the Be Safe is slightly lighter.

Sodasoda · 30/05/2016 18:12

Congrats feef!

You're way ahead of me re organisation indi Plenty of time (that's what I keep telling myself Smile)

Thanks for newborn / 0-3 advice. I've got 2 lovely newborn babygros and 1 0-3 at the moment. I think I'll buy a couple of multi-packs from supermarkets in both sizes and then pretty much leave it there til baby arrives and I know how big it is and what flavour!

I'm officially on DH's car insurance as of today so we've been out for driving practice. So far both car and relationship is intact Grin.

Going to have another couple of lessons with instructor in our car rather than instructor's car and just carry on with the practice as much as I can.

BunchOfBobs · 30/05/2016 18:42

Congrats fee. Lovely scan pic.

I must admit I'm feeling super organised myself. Started the washing of baby stuff today. I was so excited I sat in front of my machine waiting for it to finish the hang the stuff up. Just nappies and Muslins today. Not going to tackle clothes for another 4 weeks but as I have ALOT of Muslins and nappies I thought it was best to start.

I've spent most of my afternoon staring at my washing line ha!

bunch you are my organisation role model! Need to catch up!

Kitty is home. She kept him for 5 hours yesterday. I saw her let him in and out. They don't have a cat flap, she literally imprisons him. We were out all day today. I saw him go in at 10 just before we left, then when we got home about and hour ago he wasn't in so I went out and called him. Lo and behold, 10 mins later their door opens and out he comes Hmm
She also told DH she feeds him pasta and he didn't say anything to her! wimp a few weeks ago he was really sick, so I suspect they fed him something to cause it

Congrats feef

potato fingers crossed they'll approve soon. It's good to know they do this to everyone, makes it much less likely there's a problem

Feefeefs · 30/05/2016 20:19

Thanks everyone! Loved it! The woman was finishing her training so had like 30 mins of scanning! Saw loads of stretching and movement etc! Was lovely! Told loads of people including my boss! Had been lovely! Feeling much more positive!

Good luck for your scan indi

shelbTa · 30/05/2016 21:14

Congrats feef, it's amazing isn't it.

This is me tonight....nausea is back, this was the only solution:

There's no better way than straight from the tub Shelb! Has the nausea just come back today? How is the tiredness?

shelbTa · 30/05/2016 22:05

It's been the past three or four days pink it's been back, Yknow that distinctive taste you get with morning sickness and not knowing what want to eat etc? Tiredness pretty bad too at times. I'm looking forward to talking it over with the midwife.

X

BunchOfBobs · 30/05/2016 22:12

Sorry to hear you're feeling nauseous again Shelb.

For those who have yet to buy any Muslins can I just give a pointer of advice. Get bamboo ones. Omg are they soft. After washing mine today I can massively notice the difference. Downside to bamboo it can't be tumbled or ironed but they dried super quick on the line and I'm sure they would on the radiator too. Due to it being the baby washing I didn't even use softener and they are silky soft. DH draped them round his neck and wants to make a blanket out of one they're that lovely.

Laurenrl · 30/05/2016 23:06

bunch your son is going to be the most stylish baby around! Where are you even buying these things!?!

BunchOfBobs · 31/05/2016 06:18

Haha Lauren I'm addicted to monochrome things at the mo, the poor boy will have no colour in his life.
The big black swaddle Muslins are from a brand called Cuski. They retail at £30 each Shock but on their website they have a seconds sale section so I paid £6 each. They don't look like factory seconds so I don't care. Also, seriously £30 for a Muslin?!!!

Co5mo · 31/05/2016 06:39

I'm please kitty has been released New. It does sound like your neighbour is manipulating your cat. Maybe time for a polite word.

Lovely scan Fee. I'm hoping for a good 20 week scan this morning. There's nothing wrong with babies ability to kick me so fingers crossed everything else is ok and we get to find out our team...then on to the shopping Smile

Newmrs22 · 31/05/2016 07:12

Good luck today cosmo it's always nerve wracking but exciting!

Mmm ice cream! Hope you are feeling better today shelb. I've been awake since 4 and now have an absolutely banging headache. Deciding whether to go to work.

After last weeks v slight weight loss, this week I've gained 4 lbs. I think my body is just weird and stays the same for a couple of weeks then boom, packs on the weight all in one go! Haha

PotatosMum · 31/05/2016 07:37

Morning ladies, how are you all today?

Bunch that is a mighty impressive washing line. I'm not going to bother with washing the baby cloths until we move. I can't put them outside to dry here and I don't want to tumble them.

New good that your kitty is home but I agree that it's time to speak to the neighbour and politely ask that she doesn't feed him/let him in.
The situation would drive me crazy!

Boo to the headache. Hope it clears up soon.

Feef glad you had such a lovely experience yesterday Smile

Shelb no to feeling sick again Sad I hope it doesn't last although I think it is fairly common for morning sickness to come back in the third trimester. I've been feeling a little queazy but I'm ignoring it and hoping it goes away Hmm

Co5mo good luck for your 20 week scan. Hope it goes well and you get to find out your team Grin

I've got my first growth scan a week today. So excited but also a little terrified as that means I'm 28 weeks this weekend. Ever since I had my 12 week scan all I've thought is I just need to get Potato to 28 weeks then she'll be safe if I do go into labour early... Now we're here I'm thinking, crap! I'm actually going to have a squirmy Potato to look after soon and I have no idea how... OH has very helpfully told me to read a book Hmm

OP posts:
Newmrs22 · 31/05/2016 07:49

potato I feel exactly the same. I don't think I'd really processed that at some point I'd have an actual baby to look after Blush I have no idea what to do with one!

Feefeefs · 31/05/2016 07:54

Sorry your nausea is back shelbta. Hope the ice cream treated you well.

Good advice on the bamboo cloths bunch.

Good luck today Cosmo! Hope baby obliges!

shelbTa · 31/05/2016 08:09

Morning ladies

Potato - what is this growth scan you speak of, is that because of the fibroid or should we all be having them? I've heard nothing!

Bunch - good tip on bamboo things, I'm going to order some.

X

Pinklily1 · 31/05/2016 08:29

Good luck today Cosmo. Fingers crossed you are able to find out your team too!

Bunch, I'm so impressed with your organisation, and your creativity with all of the baby grows!

Shelb, I'm not having a grown scan either. I think it's to do with Potato's fibroid? I don't get any scans after 20 weeks unless they suspect later on that baby is breech, in which case they scan to check whether that's right or not. How is the nausea this morning?

I'm 27 weeks today and baby is now the size of a camping lantern. Made me chuckle when potato posted that last week - I do like Ovia's size comparisons Smile

Danni89 · 31/05/2016 08:50

Good luck today cosmo!

And i agree, bunch you have some serious organisational skills

new and potato- I'm the same.. Clueless on how to look after a tiny baby, I might look into getting a book... I know family will be around to support too which will help

Day off today.. Waiting in for the baby deliveries... Excited!! Loser lol

PotatosMum · 31/05/2016 09:20

Shelb yep, I get extra scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks because of the fibroid. Because of its size it might restrict Potatoes growth room, I'm at a higher risk of her being under weight and unless she gets into position early there's a good chance she won't be able to turn and will end up breech.

At the moment I think it's probably 50/50 that I'll need a section as she's definitely breech and it was enough of a struggle for her to get out of transverse with the room she has. I'll be surprised if she can turn.
