Dileas I have a beautiful maternity dress from asos!! Have a look there, their maternity wear is the nicest I've found Grin

bearhuggy · 11/05/2016 16:17

Thanks dileas :) Agree with lou check ASOS out, I have a number of weddings whilst being pregnant and have bought some lovely dresses from there.

Welcome back jw lovely to see a post from you and glad to hear you are doing well.

leslie I started antenatal yoga which is a bit of a combo class for the ladies only, it's been very useful so far and have met some nice mums to be locally. the couples course doesn't start for a few weeks yet. Glad you NCT has been useful so far, how many sessions do you have??

Basketofwool · 11/05/2016 17:03

Welcome back jw. So exciting to have a definite date to meet your baby!

I am really frustrated. I've been suffering since Friday with (sorry) basically diarrhoea. Occasionally feeling sick but havent actually been sick. The baby is still moving normally so I'm sure its fine but I dont understand the sudden change as up to now I've been quite constipated which is much more normal during pregnancy.
Anyway it is basically IMPOSSIBLE to contact a midwife around here. My midwife must have changed her number because I'm not getting any response to messages. Phoned hospital midwife team but they put their voicemail on after 4.30pm. I don't want to call triage because I feel like this is trivial and midwife told me a while ago they basically laugh at you if you call for any other reason than being in actual labour.

Has anyone else had any 'digestive' issues? Anyone know if it is normal?

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 11/05/2016 17:38

Welcome back jw so nice to hear from you and gosh you seem organised!

dileas I have a wedding this weekend and I bought a dress from seraphine, it's an Aztec print and super flattering. The other site I looked at was tiffanyrose. They are both maternity specialists and the dresses are gorgeous.
Although I have had stuff from asos also.
basketofwool I'm sure it's just a wee tummy bug but better to call and ask advice. In the meantime could you manage something like dioralyte to keep you hydrated?

plimsolls · 11/05/2016 19:37

Welcome back jw

I was going to recommend Seraphine. There's another brand called something like Rockabye Rosie which has loads of occasion dresses. Think they've got their own website but also some styles on Debenhams or House of Fraser website.

I am struggling so much with pregnancy hormones. Over the last two weeks, things have been making me so ANGRY! It's the same type of thing (boss being a dick, brother being obnoxious) that would have irked me before but I just can't control my reaction to them. It's absolutely doing my head in. I just about manage to keep it in (although have probably sent a few too many harsh responses over email etc to various things) but it just makes me feel so shit. I had all sorts of angry, stress dreams last night and I keep stewing on things. AAAARGH.

Where have my lovely "contented cow" pregnancy hormones gone? I liked them!

Christinedonna · 11/05/2016 20:02

Sat in the toilets at work crying because I'm getting really strong back pains with like period pains. It's not crippling but it's really hurting me. Is this just braxton hicks and I'm being a wimp?

Biscuitswithtea · 11/05/2016 20:33

Christine that sounds miserable :( My (limited) experience of braxton hicks is that they are across the front. Tight and uncomfortable would be how I describe them (but everyone's reference point is unique!). Can you take some painkillers and sit down for a bit, or even go home? I tend to get sore if I over do things.
Obviously if it ranks up a notch then phone the hospital, if only for reassurance.

Biscuitswithtea · 11/05/2016 20:39

And lovely to see you back JW. Can understand the online break :) Sounds like you're being super organised!

We have yet to give any thought to a co sleeper. I have my eye on the Snuzpod. A friend has offered us a loan of their Bednest. Anyone got any experience of either?

Physio tomorrow am. I really need it to work some magic! My pelvis made a hideous crunch yesterday when I was walking. Will be totally stuffed if I need to use crutches or worse. DS still needs carried a bit, I need to drive for work and we have no family anywhere within easy reach Confused

Christinedonna · 11/05/2016 21:16

My sister picked me up, OH will get dropped off to the car and get me on his way home. Backs still hurting but feel like it's just nerve pain, she's obviously in a funny position or something as my dad seems to think (6 kids experience). A bath would probably help but I'm too tired!

PickleBot · 11/05/2016 21:48

Hi Jw glad to see you back with us.Flowers You do sound very organised, I'm still stuck in furniture tetris hell.

Honestly, every time I go to move one thing another is where I need to put it! It's doing my head in! Next job is to dismantle the single bed from ds old room (find somewhere to put the bloody thing) touch up the paint work, refit the cupboard and set up the nursery. Then I can put the baby crap away. Problem is I just can't get going.

For those with pelvic pain, don't despare. Mine is actually better this week!

Jw35 · 12/05/2016 04:34

I'm probably only organised because I didn't have much to buy, what with a 16 month old girl already! All I've bought is a few more clothes and I picked up the double buggy from my sisters shed!
I literally had everything else and was just a case of getting it all out! Last pregnancy I was so tired in the 3rd trimester I didn't enjoy all the last minute preparations!

Well the pregnancy insomnia has started and I'm awake trying to avoid leg cramp, needing to pee and constantly checking the time! All because I went to bed at 10pm my body thinks 4am is long enough! Hmm

Anyone else have smell cravings? There's a word for it but I can't remember what it's called! I've gone from shoe polish to wrapping firefighters in a tea towel and sniffing them Blush I also like the smell of leather, various cleaning products and petrol, Tarmac, plaster etc. am I alone with my weird smell cravings?! I've been the same in all my pregnancies!

Britnyspears · 12/05/2016 08:54

JW35 sending you Flowers
As for 4am, that is my special time too! How I love laying awake for hours until its time to go to work. Such fun! Wink

plimsoles I get a red mist descend and woe betide anyone who is around me then. Its exhausting being so angry all the time, and I feel so guilty afterwards. Does anyone know if you suffer with hormones whether they calm at all?

Fizzyboo · 12/05/2016 12:00

Welcome back jw, hope you and your family are healing some X

Just back from my GTT test here. Won't know results till tomorrow. Was mostly ok, up until the final blood test, when they let the noob loose on me who subsequently scared the crap out of me, by asking me what arm should she do, I said maybe the other one from earlier, she twanged about with my veins for ages and then asked to do the other side so she could go in the same hole as before! Yeeauch! I don't normally have a prob being scared about bloods, nor has anyone ever said anything about me being difficult to find veins, but her fannying about was terrifying!!

Anyway it's over now I guess, and while I'm still in ignorant bliss about the results, DH is buying me a dirty great chocolate Danish from the super fancy bakery Wink

MrsZumbaDancer · 12/05/2016 13:06

Welcome back JW

I have my GTT on Tuesday, dreading it.. last time i was not well between the 2 blood samples - sweating, feeling faint - hope this time is better! I too will be looking for a treat after it fizzy!

Just had the weirdest pain.. I'm not sure if it was the bottom of my bump or my hip.. i was in agony walking back from town. Seems to have eased now I'm sat.

Christinedonna · 12/05/2016 13:08

Is this GTT something everyone has? Or if your midwife/GP has arranged it? As I haven't heard anything about it

Fizzyboo · 12/05/2016 13:21

A treat is certainly the order of GTT day Zumba! Well earned!
I get sudden sharp pains if I walk about too fast (ie normal speed) always on the same side, at bottom of bump into the hip bone bit? I did ask my MW about it and she said its either my appendix or ligaments! I bought a stretchy support band from Jojo maman Bebe that helps a little if I know I'm walking about a lot... Not cures it, but maybe delays it. Maybe give your MW a bell if you're worried though.

Christine, no not everyone gets the fun of a GTT. It's a glucose tolerance test to see if you have gestational diabetes for any reason they may have flagged. A high BMI, sugars detected in urine sample, previous history etc.

Christinedonna · 12/05/2016 13:26

Oh good I was worried it was something else my midwife has missed! Does anyone know (for your first baby) when the midwife appointments are? At my 22 week appointment I'm SURE she said they start measuring baby at 28 week appointment, but at my 25/26 week one I had a replacement who booked my next one for 31 weeks. Has she skipped the 28 week one or was my midwife mistaken and I'm not due one? It seems a long time to go from 25 weeks to 31 with no contact

Basketofwool · 12/05/2016 13:52

Christine Yes we're supposed to have a 28 week one. This is the appointment schedule for my hospital which explains it www.whittington.nhs.uk/default.asp?c=6988

Might be different in your area but I doubt it

bearhuggy · 12/05/2016 14:07

christine these are the guidelines from my hospital the Homerton -

If this is your first baby, you will have an first (or ‘booking’) appointment at 10-12 weeks of pregnancy, followed by appointments at 16, 20, 26, 30, 34, 36, 38 and 40 weeks of pregnancy.

Looks like you have missed one so I would double check with them or check on your hospital website.

Enjoy your treat fizzy, very well deserved after all of that prodding around, sounds awful!!

Just had my osteopath appointment and wow it was so good, to the point I actually cried at the end (weird!) because of the release of pressure around my ribs. Amazing what small and seemingly subtly movements can do !

Christinedonna · 12/05/2016 14:34

Just waiting for a call back now from a midwife as mine is sunning it up on another holiday! Thank you ladies

Christinedonna · 12/05/2016 16:12

Yeah I was missing an appointment! Have one dead on 28 weeks next Thursday

PickleBot · 12/05/2016 17:28

I'm to hot! I cannot get hydrated, I have drunk 3.5 liters of water so far today and still have very strong wee. I haven't been able to catch up since I had my GTT on Monday. My feet have stolen up a treat today though,,maybe that's where it's all going!

OwlinaTree · 12/05/2016 17:42

Hi all, nice to see you back jw. I had that gtt test in my last pg, v boring hanging round the hospital all morning. I was about 38 weeks when I had it, the results were due back after I was booked in for the section! I was clear though luckily.

Having a crazy week. Monday my school got the Ofsted call, so super busy there. Got home to find ds in bed but not sleeping and obviously not right. Had the worst night ever with him, he just wouldn't settle. I wanted to bring him in our bed but dh didn't want to, dh ended up sleeping on his bedroom floor so we all got a couple of hours eventually. Ds woke up covered in a rash, really not well at all. Of all the days to be ill. Luckily dh was able to organise being at home with him and took him to the doctors. He's fine now, just his cheeks (both setsGrin) have got a bit infected so he's got a steroid cream. Managed to 'work from home' today, picked the right day really as the weather is gorgeous here.

Will be glad when the weekend comes!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 12/05/2016 18:25

I'm struggling a little during the day with the heat! My classroom is like a greenhouse. But can't complain as it rarely happens up in Scotland! Ive got a fan at my desk and o bought some diluting juice today to jazz up the water a bit.

silverstar77 · 13/05/2016 07:28

Lol picklebot, I'm also experiencing furniture Tetris! Going from 3 bedrooms we've spread into to one as one will be nursery and one will become upstairs bathroom. Freecycle has been very handy! But yes living with wardrobes in the dining room and bedrooms crammed full of stuff!

Good to hear everyone's news. I'm sneaking in a last min holiday before I can't fly. Doc said he wouldn't write me a medical note past 28 weeks, so fly back at 27+6!! (As I'm being carefully monitored with scans every 4 weeks as I'm a bit of an unknown to them with some uterus abnormalities)

Am enjoying this not feeling sick and bump, not too big yet phase though!

Take care all!
