28 week MW appt, and I don't have diabetes GrinGrinGrin

First time I've seen her since the whole babes heart thing though, so was pretty lengthy, but she was really nice, said to call or text her if I want to talk about it, not to just worry.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 13/05/2016 11:05

Fizzy that's good, at least you have an outlet for those worries that sneak up on you! And hurray for no diabetes Smile
Welcome back jw, lovely to 'see' you again. Congrats on your girlie - you knew it was a girl right from the start didn't you! Definitely helps with being organised.
Basket how's the digestion been? My insides go a little crazy when pregnant too so I reckon it's normal - and tbh would rather that than end up with terrible constipation!
plimsolls when pg with DD I had the RAGE near enough permanently! Everyone and everything pissed me off. I could hardly look at DH half the time cos his stupid face annoyed me Grin it did pass pretty much the minute she was born - swept away in the rush of new-baby endorphins. And I do love DH really.
Ooh bear you've inspired me to give the osteopath a ring! Glad you feel so much better, my hips are getting worse so I think it's time for a bit of intervention.
Owl hope you got a better night's sleep last night and your DS is on the mend.

We have a moving date!! The whole process has been a fucking nightmare frankly and I fully expect someone to throw a spanner in the works, but all being well we will finally be moving a week on Wednesday. I cannot bloody wait. Most of our furniture is gone at this point (doing it bit by bit as DH has a van for work so just using that!) so me and DD are basically camping Grin quite enjoying it! And then the weekend after that its Isle of Wight festival, well looking forward to it! Underestimated how huge and knackered I'd be, so will be doing a lot of sitting down I think, but we're going to have a great time Grin

strandedabroad · 13/05/2016 12:04

Great news Coco! And welcome back JW, great news about your girl Smile

Had my 28 week midwife appointment this morning, all ok. Bump is right on the 50th centile which is good.

Is anyone managing to do any exercise? I try to stick to at least one swim and one Pilates class a week. But it's bloody hard to find the motivation. I do love swimming once I'm in - lovely and fresh! And I walk the dog. I wonder if that counts for much!

Parents are visiting for a few days, arriving today. I'm knackered already but look forward to it. House is clean, fridge is full, and we've kind of sorted our issues so everything is good. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend Flowers

Christinedonna · 13/05/2016 12:45

I haven't counted kicks or monitored movements ever but I'm fairly aware of baby's pattern, when I lay down she moves, when I wake up in the morning she's quite active but mostly at night. Last night and today I've definitely felt her move, felt kicks etc but it just doesn't seem as much as normal! Is this something to be concerned about or is the fact that she has been moving what counts?

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 13/05/2016 13:18

Hi all, I haven't been around since about thread 2 I think.. My MS got worse when looking at my phone (the scrolling made me feel dizzy) and I kind of lost track with everyone's updates! Have been checking back in the last few weeks but hadn't got round to posting. Thought I would today because of Christine's post..

The last 2 days I've definitely felt reduced movement. He had been kicking quite strongly throughout the day and lots first thing in the morning at last thing at night. Yesterday and today it was less frequent and I had to really concentrate to notice it. I decided to give my midwife a call, and as I work at the hospital she sent me straight over to the Day Assessment Unit to get checked out. I'm 26 weeks so they only checked baby's heart beat with a doppler, plus checked my blood pressure and temperature. Pleased to say everything is fine, and although I was worried that I was overreacting everyone was so so nice and told me that I had definitely done the right thing by coming in. There were 3 other women in the same bay for the same reason! The midwife said it could be that the baby has moved position or the heat could affecting him a bit. I'm so glad I went in.. Please do ring your midwife.. The Count The Kicks website recommendeds you get checked straight away if you notice reduced movement.

Look forward to keeping a bit more up to date with you all now!

Christinedonna · 13/05/2016 13:33

I've used my Doppler and found heartbeat but it sounds quite far back so I'm guessing she's in a position where her kicks aren't really prominent

plimsolls · 13/05/2016 13:51

christine my baby is a little less further along than yours (24+5) and the movement definitely comes and goes, quiet days and active days, corresponding with growth spurts I think.

I've received good advice in the past to lie on my left hand side for quite a while, and drink cold sugary drinks... That can get th baby moving.

All the advice I've read when I've been concerned is not to rely on home dopplers as hearing a heart beat doesn't tell you if the baby needs help.... It just tells you the baby's heart is still beating at that precise moment. Are you able to give your midwife a call to find out what he/she thinks? Maybe after you've tried the lying down drinking drinking trick?

glenncoco and britny glad it's not just me and very relived to hear we go back to normal post-birth! My heart can't take all this rage!

Christinedonna · 13/05/2016 13:55

Il give them a call now

Christinedonna · 13/05/2016 14:03

She said from 28 weeks is when we say you usually notice a pattern. I'm 27 and definitely know a pattern. She said said if you are feeling some movements it may just be because of how she's laying. Like her arms and legs are towards my back so I don't feel it as much. She said I should make a chart of movement and monitor how much it is and if it dramatically decreases then that's when they'd tell me to come in. It's as of yesterday now that it's been less. And I don't particularly want to hang around and wait a few more hours before I decided to go in. What would everyone else do?

Christinedonna · 13/05/2016 14:05

Especially with the period like pains I've been getting and really severe back pains I just don't want to ignore signs

plimsolls · 13/05/2016 14:22

I think you should go in and explain the period pains, back pains and reduced movement. (I'd be tempted to be really clear that there's reduced movement and don't feel the need to 'apologise' for either only being 27weeks or for not yet having done the movement chart).

I'm sure that there is actually nothing to worry about (for example, all three could be down to either dehydration or a growth spurt) but you may as well check, for your peace of mind if nothing else.

Christinedonna · 13/05/2016 14:35

I phoned the hospital half hour away and they told me to come in although it's busy and won't be able to see me until about 4:30. By the time I'm ready and get there it won't be too long a wait so that's fine. They're a lot more helpful than the other one anyway so I'd rather go there. Trust this to happen when the OHs away!

VivaHate · 13/05/2016 15:00

Christine- I had reduced movement on Tuesday so went into the ante natal assessment unit that's 2 mins from where I work (not the hospital I'm registered at). I waited four hours in which time there was no movement; literally as soon as they hooked me up to the monitor he started moving. Monitored me and baby for 20 mins and recorded his movements and it was all fine. Aside from all being well, the best thing was the midwife's response- she said "it's all looking fine, but if you get any reduced movements in future do not hesitate to come in, we will get you hooked up to the monitor again for a listen!" I hope your baby girl is ok and it's good that your hospital has encouraged you to come in too despite it being busy,

plimsolls · 13/05/2016 17:28

glenncoco congrats on the moving date! And have a great time at IoW festival!

stranded I'm glad things are good with the family now. Have a lovely weekend with them!

PickleBot · 13/05/2016 18:13

Congratulations on your moving date glencoco, that's great news!

I have had some rage too, but it's abated a bit now thank goodness. I think DH was getting a bit fed up with it.

I have no idea how I'm getting so many crumbs in my bra, I'm sure I've been capable of eating without getting so much food stuck in my clothing before!

OwlinaTree · 13/05/2016 19:47

Thank you glenco, he's much better now, so glad it's the weekend! Great news on the moving date too, will keep fx it all goes smoothly.

Hugs to all worrying about movements. It is so worrying. If I have a day when the baby moves less I'm always so worried. Usually the next day he'll more than make up for it though! Definitely get checked out if you are worried, especially in those last weeks.

plimsolls · 13/05/2016 21:40

christina hope all is ok and the hospital was helpful.

Christinedonna · 13/05/2016 22:02

Got back a few hours ago and am finally in bed with a cuppa and chocolate! They monitored her heartbeat for about half an hour then a midwife came in to look at the sheet and said "okay il get a doctor" so shit myself a bit. He came in and said there was protein and blood in my urine and said it could be a UTI that could cause pre term labour so wanted to do an internal examination. Hands down the worst thing ever!! Done a swab and said there was no signs of me going into labour and sent me home with anti biotics. Typical baby as soon as we got there she was kicking like mad

plimsolls · 13/05/2016 22:12

Oh that sounds like a bit of an ordeal. I'm glad you went and that they've given you some antibiotics. Hope you get some rest and recover from the trauma of today. I'm really pleased all is well.

strandedabroad · 13/05/2016 23:06

Oh Christine, so sorry to hear about your predicament. Glad you went to get checked, there was obviously a reason for the cramps. I hope you can get some rest now!

Suziesome1 · 14/05/2016 09:11

Third trimester today! Yay! Home stretch here we come :)

Christinedonna · 14/05/2016 12:59

Does anyone have any insight? Baby is always on my right side. There's nothing on my left side, every scan, midwife appointment, heartbeat listening, kick is on the right side. SO WHY is it my left side that is now absolutely riddled with stretch marks??

MrsSantaClause · 15/05/2016 07:46

Wow, such a lot to catch up on again, I really must try harder to keep up!

My bh have been getting much stronger and more uncomfortable recently, and I have been finding it more difficult to sleep. I can feel the heady delights of the second trimester slipping further through my fingers as each day goes by.... I suppose it does mean that I am getting closer to meeting my little baby and finding out what colour it is!

Ds was very cute yesterday, I asked him if he wanted to talk to the baby and he said into my tummy 'hello baby, do you want to play with me?' Then he sat for ages with his hand on it waiting for it to kick. Which it didn't. What is everyone else doing to prepare their older children for the baby? My older two were so close together that my eldest didn't know what was going on anyway so didn't really need to do anything to prepare him, but ds will be almost 4. We often talk about how when we do things the baby will be with us after its born etc, but not really sure if there's anything else I can do to prepare him. He still says he thinks it's a girl too-he's been absolutely sure of that every time I've asked him, it will be interesting to see if he's right!

Good luck to those that are moving-we had a viewing booked this weekend for a house nearby us (we're renting at the moment) but they cancelled as they've had a cash offer Angry

Oh nearly forgot-it was my headshave this weekend too! Have attached a photo, went really well, I had a few friends and family round and we have tea and cakes. Just need to get used to my new look now! Have attached a photo Grin
