Oh also, there's a sale on at kiddicare on their nursery stuff that ends on Sunday-free next day delivery too if anyone's interested. We've ordered the mattresses. Already got cot/crib. Not much left to get now!

Longtimelistener · 07/05/2016 14:05

Fantastic news about the boob scan MrsSanta Smile

Thanks for the thread mslg..I'm sure once you're over the tears of OH going away you'll be very happy to have the bed to yourself for a while! Definitely waddling here and yes I hear everyone on the maternity wear, leggings but seem to make me look even huger than normal and are STILL SEE THROUGH. Is nowhere capable of producing leggings that don't show my arse?? I have fluffy fair tummy hair (unattractive little rhyme there) but also have the hideous snail trail that requires shaving every other day and leaves me with horrible stubble. Cute! OH is going away for the weekend on Thursday and I have mixed feelings, on one hand I can't wait for the bed to myself and to just chill but on the other I'm jealous of anyone that gets to see him while I don't! Had someone I used to work with come into my new work yesterday and he either didn't notice the bump (highly impossible) or just completely ignored it (pleasant change) and was catching up, when I mentioned OHs name he said "oh, bla blas boyfriend?" I said "urm nope my boyfriend!" "Ohhh but didn't they used to be together?" YES THANK YOU I don't need reminding of who my partner has been with! I'm very jealous and conscious lately! I have dreams about them getting back together or him secretly meeting up with her. Ashamed to admit that yesterday I found myself 2 years back on his Facebook looking at pictures of them together and raging at the thought of her ever touching him, or even worse the other way round! Hormones? Or psycho? Not sure!

Hi all, sorry to have gone quiet - my phone app logged me out and I haven't got around to resetting the password so haven't been posting though trying to keep up. Thanks for the new thread mslg, and welcome britny and becks.

On prams, we also went for the Baby Jogger city mini GT. I didn't think I would fall in love with a pram but I'm really chuffed with it! I think I was mainly seduced by how ridiculously easy it is to take down (you just pick it up by a fabric handle in the seat) and put up.

Definitely feeling the checking out of work already thing. I really need to get my head into gear though cos I'm currently going for promotion and will be applying for a new (and awesome) higher grade post that's about to be advertised at my place, with me in mind. Must not fuck it all up with my pregnancy brain!!

Sorry haven't caught up yet, but I've just had my mind blown and needed to share. Baby girls develop their ovaries complete with ALL the eggs they will ever have at 20 weeks.... I'm carrying my grandchildren!!!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 08/05/2016 11:13

MrsS that's fantastic news! Pregnancy has a lot to answer for but so glad you can relax now.
Re slings - your best bet is to see if there's a sling library near you. They are fab, you can try out all the slings and hire them out (you put down a refundable deposit and get to take them home for a fortnight or however long) so you can really get a feel for what works for you before you spend out on your own one! I love slings and will def be investing in/borrowing a good newborn sling this time round, they make life sooooo much easier IME!
crunchy we have the city mini too! I bloody love it. I didn't have a car til DD was 2 so walked/bussed everywhere and the city mini (combined with sling!) was great.
Christine wow! That bloke sounds completely insensitive. Ignore, ignore, ignore. And try not to fret too much - everyone has a past, it's part and parcel of life. But your OH has chosen to be with you, he loves you, you're the mother of his child. Don't dwell on his past - that way madness lies!
28+2 today - can't believe I'm into the third trimester! Now waddling everywhere, hips are killing me, and bump keeps bashing into things when I forget how enormous I am! But I'm loving it, pelvic pain aside I'm feeling great. Love this weather!
We also finally have a provisional moving date for Friday coming, just need our sellers to confirm they're OK with that. It's Friday 13th - I'm hoping they're not superstitious! At one point earlier this week I honestly thought it was all about to fall through. It's been such a rollercoaster, I just can't wait to get moved and start getting settled!
Still riding the inexplicable lurve wave for DH. He is definitely benefitting Wink
Hope everyone's enjoying this gorgeous weekend weather!

August 2016 number 5 - waddling towards the third trimester!
AlfieTheRailwayCat · 08/05/2016 13:48

four what a gorgeous bump! Mine is all spread out and I feel massive! You look great for entering third trimester.

rumisyum · 08/05/2016 17:04

Four, you look amazing! Gorgeous bumpage. And your lucky DH. Wink

Great news, MrsS! Must be quite a relief. Another one seconding a sling library. It's helpful to try before you buy, because different styles suit different body types. Though a stretchy wrap is pretty universally useful for a newborn. I'm a bit of a sling/carrier/wrap obsessive - I think we have 7! Blush Should set up my own library when I'm done with baby-making.

Elle, so glad I'm not the only one feeling the 2nd newborn anxiety. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a rather more zen soul than my (delightfully active, but quite hard work as a newborn) son. And a better sleeper. And no reflux. Lots of crossed fingers. Confused

Speaking of buggies - any double buggy recommendations? I reckon we'll be using a sling/stroller combination for a while, but it'll be good to have one in case baby 2 takes to napping in the buggy earlier than my son did.

Hope you've all got glorious weather wherever you are & have been enjoying it!

OwlinaTree · 08/05/2016 20:48

rumisyum I'm wondering about the double buggy issue. I'll have a 2y5m gap. My 2yo will walk quite a lot now, but sometimes needs to be carried. I'm going for the sling/buggy/buggy board/pram option at the mo, my only big concern is when we need to go into town. I like to have my 2yo strapped into the buggy for this as it's so busy, and I don't want him touching etc in the shops. However, if I've got him in the buggy and baby in the sling it's not very easy to actually shop ime. Especially clothes! Will have to leave dh at home with the kids or he could wear the sling, but I think I'd struggle if I was on my own with them both. Anyone got any advice on this? Xx

OwlinaTree · 08/05/2016 20:50

Don't know where the kisses came from, forgot myself for a minute! Blush

Longtimelistener · 08/05/2016 22:34

Owl It sounds like we'll have the same age gap.

I'm not sure if I'm kidding myself thinking we don't need a double buggy. My original plan was to have baby in sling and the 2.5 year old in his buggy but, realistically, we struggled to get used to a sling with DS and I worry we'd have the same issues with this baby. Also, he hardly ever goes in his buggy these days. I also worry he wouldn't hold on to a pram or stay still on a buggy board.

I think I might have to see how it goes and order a double buggy once baby is born if we think we need one. I'd also welcome any advice or recommendations if anyone has any?

Christinedonna · 08/05/2016 23:39

owlina from what you've said I probably wouldn't bother. Finding fun ways of your 2yo getting about eg buggy board etc and fun shopping techniques of him having big boy jobs of picking the lettuce and finding things for mummy should make him not in a buggy easier. He'll be a bit bigger by the time baby's actually here and you're settled into taking them both out anyway! Do bare in mind days out though! A day at the zoo or whatever it is that floats your boat is hard when you have a cranky little one that's had enough of walking. Maybe just have a buggy to hand for those days. That's personally what id do anyway. The last thing you want is to invest in a double stroller to six months down the line have one of them that hates being in it and would rather walk

Christinedonna · 08/05/2016 23:40

long sorry I meant to add your name to that too!

MrsZumbaDancer · 09/05/2016 06:13

owl and long having the same debate.. My DS will be just over 2.5 when this one arrives. I could convert my icandy peach to a double for about £150 and just not use certain adapter if DS walks, or buy a double (keeping an eye on selling pages for a baby jogger city mini double).. I think we'd just need something for days out/holidays

WePlusThree · 09/05/2016 09:16

Hello!
I'm techniquely due in early September but having an ELCS so looking around 1st sept, possibly 31st August so thought I'd cover all bases. Is anyone else due late August? I am in two minds whether to go for a September date or an August one, there will be some choice like I had last time which is nice because I get to pick my babies birthdate!

Anyway, I babble. This is baby number 3 for me, pink bump and currently 22+4 (although I look full term already 😂)

Nice to 'meet' you all!

PickleBot · 09/05/2016 13:20

Hi Weplusthree welcome! I'd go September every time given the choice, so much better for school admissions!

Those wondering about buggies, quite a few of my friends with 2 to 2.5 year age gaps went for these: joovy.co.uk/caboose/ they have a built in bench seat at the back where the older child can rest when they get tired. Plus it has a built in buggy board. It's not that pricey either at £130!

I'm just back from my 28 week glucose tolerance test. It made me feel really ill as you aren't allowed to drink water, so I was gasping by the time I finished at 11:30. Now have a massive headache. I think I might just chill in the shade with an ice lolly! I've git to take DS into town to get some shorts after school, really don't want to! Next thing is the mw on Wednesday, it's all go in week 28! I'm seriously looking forward to my holiday in 10 days; 2 weeks of relaxing in Holland by the beach...bliss!

bearhuggy · 09/05/2016 14:00

suzie thanks so much for the tips on the iron! I too felt that I was doing everything right and getting it the natural way, but turns out it just wasn't good enough :( Have your bloods all been ok to date? I'm going to whole foods today to chat about supplements as I also have heard that they can make you very constipated which I reaaaally don't want. Long will defo check out Spatone as that sounds like a good option.

Lots I can't believe you grew up in Wilmslow! Do you still live there now?

Welcome wePlusThree Sept would seem better for school, although you have an extra year of childcare before they start!

pickle you deserve that ice lolly after such a torturous ordeal, glad it's all over for you now. Also just seen your post about the ovaries...just crazy isn't it!!!

coco lovely bump and fingers are crossed for you on the house front.

Started hypnobirthing yesterday and really enjoyed the class, very informative and came away feeling so positive about the birth. Recommend it to anyone perhaps considering.

28 + 3 today and finally my rib / back pain seem's to be under control. Hooray. Found the use of a tennis ball very satisfying if anyone else is looking for some tension relief!

Enjoy the sunshine all !!

plimsolls · 09/05/2016 14:46

weplusthree (and everyone!) I think in most areas, admission rules have changed so parents of late August/early Sept children get some choice over which school year they start in.

Dileas29 · 09/05/2016 18:03

Hello all, thank you to whoever made the new post!
Just back from centre parcs- glorious weather and would definitely recommend as family friendly and all so accessible-brilliant time altogether!

Still trying to decide what to do re sling brand/ pram attachment for buggy board/skateboard or double buggy all will all three be required?! So many choices I was told by someone who had left it till they had the baby to decide what to get and it was the worst thing to do- eek!

Does anyone know if icandy require special make of buggy board or will lascal/universal ones do?

Sophia1984 · 09/05/2016 21:48

How are you bearing up without DH, Mslg? Hope you're doing ok x

rumisyum · 09/05/2016 21:48

That Caboose thingy looks really interesting, Picklebot! Not so much use for us as our age gap is rather smaller than most of the rest of you - only about 19 months, depending! So we would need something both kids could nap in simultaneously. (Provided this 2nd baby tolerates a buggy rather than my DS did!) Seem to have had a lot of recommendations for either a Phil &Ted or City Mini Jogger doubles. Need to have a play with them both & then decide, I guess.

Gosh, talk about putting the panic on, Dileas. I guess it helps us that we used slings/carriers/wraps a LOT with my DS - we have about 7 Blush, so I'm fairly relaxed about using them, certainly for the newborn period again.

Welcome, weplusthree!

Ooh, that's a good reminder to get my old hypnobirthing tracks out & dust them off, bearhuggy. I found it really useful last time.

Suziesome1 · 10/05/2016 09:44

So, my friend gave me a big bag of really nice clothes for the baby, only it wasn't baby sized, kinda age 2-5. It struck me (bit late some would say) that she's going to grow up. We're going to be responsible for turning a tiny baby into a fully fledged functioning adult..... Without damaging it in anyway..... Holy shitballs!!!!!

Biscuitswithtea · 10/05/2016 10:13

Suzie you're doing pretty well to realise that now ; )

DS will be 3 next month. I had to go to parent's night at nursery yesterday and discuss his transition into pre school. Yikes!!! He's still my baby and still in nappies. How can anyone think he's growing up?! (It doesn't help that he's a short arse and still in 18m trousers so he always seems younger somehow)

Hardcore nesting still going on here. Thankfully DH is fully onboard, otherwise I wouldn't manage. DS is settled into his new & bigger room (that he'll share with bump in due course). A charity has just taken away our huge but inefficient wardrobe, and we have nearly finished building 2.5m of Ikea wardrobe system in it's place.

I have a meeting at work tomorrow to discuss how I'm going to wind down, and yet not get bored over the next 9 weeks, and then physio on Thurs am to sort out my failing pelvis. It's all go!

I think we're going to get a buggy board for our Vista, and a stretchy sling for while baby is tiny and bypass the double buggy thing. We really shouldn't need one with an age gap of just over three years (said with all fingers crossed).

Suziesome1 · 10/05/2016 10:41

Haha :) I know! Suppose I've just been thinking about the practical/logistical side of things, didn't really think about all the other bits along the very long way! She's really wanted, just hope we don't feck up! m.youtube.com/watch?v=qahT62n8tcA

PickleBot · 10/05/2016 12:50

I'm having a really meh day today. I'm shattered, I'm not sleeping well. I'm feeling crappy, but not ill. DS has nits so I've combed both our hair and got him to school, he didn't want to go though. It's raining. I'm feeling really teary for no good reason. I have no motivation to do anything after a really good couple of days. Just blah.
