Just checking in. Glad there has been some good news from scans. Can't believe there will be more babies so soon!

I had a scan today too at 33+3 but it's routine here. DD1 was 10th percentile in pregnancy, my fundal height was 6wks behind, there was lots of scare talk about iugr and induction but she was born at 39wks naturally, 6lb. Now, this baby is measuring 75th percentile. Fundal height is slightly ahead which actually means I'm bigger now than when I gave birth last time! Measuring nearly 5lb already. Just shows how every baby is different!

My doctor has her first patient with Zika, that's a bit scary.

Cartooner · 04/05/2016 06:39

Awake since 4am! Anyone else getting insomnia now? I've a day's work to do now. I was so tired at 5am I went online and bought a natal hypnotherapy download for ten pound, then realised afterwards I'd already bought this exact download on CD for my last birth! It's somewhere in the house. What a waste. Tiredness plus visa is dangerous.

nehagarg · 04/05/2016 07:04

That is scary samba. Hopefully the baby is ok.

Glad your scan went well. I have a final one on Friday to double check everything before being induced. Fingers crossed.

cartooner - oops! I am okay sleeping through the night for now but wake up like clockwork at 6:15 every day.

Having the 24 hour tape done again because they messed up the first one. Sheessh! Got given a paper this time to write down any strenous activities I do. Made me laugh. I am 36 weeks pregnant. I am happy if I can moisturise my own legs. Grin

Morning all. I'm back to the midwife to check blood pressure this morning. Really hoping its down - fingers crossed.

MadrigalElectromotive · 04/05/2016 08:40

Good luck with the blood pressure mrsmugoo.

I am taking advantage of the lovely weather today and washing a whole load of baby clothes. Looking forward to watching them all flapping on the line in a little while. Smile

bikingintherain · 04/05/2016 08:44

Good luck Mrsmugoo and nehagarg.

Samba what size clothing does a 6lb baby need? I've only ever used 0-3 months, but I'm not sure if that's going to drown a smaller baby, and am wondering whether I need to at least get a few things in.

mrsmugoo · 04/05/2016 08:53

Biking - my friends baby that was born a week ago was 6lb4oz and he's in tiny baby size. Mine was 7lb4oz and started out in newborn before going up to 0-3 after about a month.

bikingintherain · 04/05/2016 09:03

That's helpful mrsmugoo. I think I will get some newborn things in. Also people are asking what we need so maybe I'll encourage them to buy some. Baby is about 4lb now (35 weeks) so if it puts on 1/2lb a week which is what is expected I think the baby will be maybe 6 or 7lb. But I guess time will tell!

Spock27 · 04/05/2016 13:33

Hi all, sorry I've been quiet recently! Been very busy with work trying to train up my mat cover and it's not going well. I'm being very patient on the surface but it's really stressing me out how slow he is at doing anything or picking things up, I just don't feel like I can actually hand things over to him as every time I give him the slightest task it takes him hours. Handed over quite a big job today and thought maybe the pressure would make him work faster but apparently not, and now I keep getting phone calls for the most ridiculous reasons: the printer isn't working for example. I'm working from home today, what exactly am I supposed to do about that?? Even if I was in it's not my job to fix office equipment! He knows this!

Sorry for the rant, just don't think I can take much more of it. Feeling awful about my mat leave starting now as I feel like all my hard work developing a good reputation over the last 2 years is going to come crashing down while I'm away Sad

Wow, can't believe some of you are having babies in the next couple of weeks! Best wishes to you all, can't wait to hear how you get on. I'm due 7th June but have a feeling I'll go way over. Spd is kicking my ass and now on crutches a lot of the time, thinking it will get even worse when the baby drops as I don't think that's happened yet!

iamdivergent · 04/05/2016 13:44

Ah no spock I don't think your reputation will suffer, he just won't live up to you. I'm training my replacement too; she's been here quite alot (she works elsewhere) but it's not enough and at the same time I feel suffocated as I still have to try and get everything wound down before I go off but if she's there all the time, how can I do that?! I've been told to make up some manuals too - no time! Got dragged in to minute two meetings last week which isn't even my role and still have to type them up - only 16 more days at work!

Spock27 · 04/05/2016 13:53

divergent sounds like you're going through a very similar thing, you have my sympathies! I agree it's so hard to get things done while training someone, I was looking forward to working from home today as a break but still not getting anything done. My reputation is very tied to the charity that I work for's reputation as it's sort of like customer service, and if one gets damaged then the other will too unfortunately :(

Trying to bear in mind that I probably won't care as soon as I go off on mat leave (12.5 days left!) but the hormones are making it very difficult to not get frustrated and blow things out of proportion!

Good luck with yours, let's hope they get up to speed soon! Flowers

nehagarg · 04/05/2016 14:27

Good luck Spock. My mat cover is equally useless. I complained to my boss yesterday and said he cannot multi task or prioritise. This is the answer I got back.

"Well, he is a man" Hmm

10 years of hard work. Hopefully all it will mean is that they will miss me and appreciate me more if it all comes crashing down. And you too at your job.

nehagarg · 04/05/2016 14:45

Anyone got flashing spots before their eyes? Lasting a few seconds? I got it yesterday and was very confused. Checked BP on my home monitor. All normal and dont have swelling either. Cant find anything on Dr. Google except pre-eclampsia but since I dont have any other symptom, I doubt its that.

OP posts:
iamdivergent · 04/05/2016 14:45

What a response nehagarg!

Ah well I'm hoping I'll just be able to let it all go and enjoy my mat leave. She keeps 'joking' and saying she'll just give me a call - I won't be answering I can tell you that! It's the thought of what I'll go back to next year that is worrying me too but trying hard not to get stressed about it.

mrsmugoo · 04/05/2016 14:54

BP is back down to normal, I think it was 135/85 so I'm back to normal appointments now YAY!

Did have a chat with the midwife though as the VBAC midwife at the hospital had written in my notes for sweeps at 38, 39 & 40 weeks - but after talking to mw today I think we've decided not to start sweeps until 40 weeks.

Think I'm almost decided on ELCS at 42 weeks as well if no spontaneous labour instead of induction.

booked83 · 04/05/2016 15:05

*nehagarg Home bp monitor I could do with one of those way my bp is... I don't suppose you could check protein in your urine though!

Spock27 · 04/05/2016 15:05

Oh dear neha, what are you supposed to say to that?? I'm sure you'll be welcomed back very warmly as will you divergentSmile Might be worth checking out with the midwife re the flashing spots, or phone triage and see what they think.

Great news mrsmugoo!

booked83 · 04/05/2016 15:08

Anyone having any leg problems? Mine can go no faster than a shuffle... N my right calf is killing! I am hoping it's just all the water retention 27 days to go.. Not counting down or anything!

I'm finding school runs difficult I don't drive hubby has started doing morning one for me (when he starts at 9!) so I just have to do 3.15 one!

GinaBambino · 04/05/2016 15:38

My mat cover got sacked a few weeks ago as she was so useless! Waiting on a guy to come back off paternity so he can be my cover. Not great.
I get flashing spots if I bend down which I know at 35 weeks I shouldn't be doing or if I stand up too quick.
Legs are killing me constantly; mw thinks it's dehydration so drinking more water! Dp insists on walking everywhere really fast so I end up waddling behind or shouting at him to slow down
Buggy is finally being delivered on Friday thank heavens
Oh and my bloods came back fine - no liver condition so full steam ahead for normal birth if possible!

nehagarg · 04/05/2016 15:52

Brilliant news Gina. Out of interest, why should bending down be an issue? I do it all the time. Still comfy as long as I open my legs wide enough to accomodate bump. I sit on the floor a lot so have been pretty nimble so far.

Great news mrsmugoo

Thanks booked and spock. Called triage and they werent worried. Did ask me to pop into MDU tomorrow after my breastfeeding workshopt to get BP and urine checked. They say it could be dehydration. Unless my BP is high, they aren't concerned. Phew!

divergent my boss keeps joking about the same thing. Sooo turning my phone off!

I'm another one worrying about my maternity cover. I told my boss in December so he had plenty of time to get it sorted and asked if they could start in April so I'll have time to train them myself. It's now May and the advert has been published today for interviews in 2 weeks - so assuming they can start within 3 days I'll have a week to train them if I don't change my dates. If not then I have to train someone already working with me to do some of it and they'll then train my replacement. All of my projects now have new go live dates so they need to go to someone experienced but there is so little interest and they are all so hands off its ridiculous. I'm tempted to say stuff it I'm going on 13th May instead of 27th but I care too much about what I do. I'm also worried that the experienced people taking over my projects will be putting any blame at my door while I'm off because I'm not there to argue.

booked83 · 04/05/2016 16:03

*neha glad there not to worried but a check up might be worth while!

Sorry to here everyone struggling about maternity leave!
I'm a sahm but husband only gets one week off which I am gutted about as c scection is on a Tuesday (31st of May!) so by the time I'm out its Thursday (and that's if everything is good!) he's not going to get any time to bond properly with Harry then kids will be back at school so no recovery time for me!

GinaBambino · 04/05/2016 16:07

Nehagarg I'm not sure entirely - everyone keeps telling me off for doing it so I thought it was some really bad thing! I was flat packing all weekend and did have to sit on the floor but kept moving if it got too uncomfortable.

I'm already dreading what I'll come back to at work! Cautious I'm exactly the same. Told them in November, asked for a replacement end of march/beginning of April so I had time to train, hand over and get rid of any queries before I finished 20th May, hired someone but she was useless so got sacked, and I'm back doing my work until Monday when my internal replacement gets back off paternity so I only have a week to train as I have Dr's and hospital appts lined up on my last week. I'm so particular about my routine and customers at work, I'm really worried something will go wrong and somehow it'll be my fault!

nehagarg · 04/05/2016 16:19

Aaah! I get that too Gina. All the time. As far as I am concerned, sitting upright with my legs up puts me at a 90 degree angle, same as bending. Not sure why one is okay and other isn't, as long as your back isnt taking the grief. Luckily I havent had any back pain at all this pregnancy.

Oh I get it right under my bra strap and only on my right side. Bra fitting and everything was fine, I think it's just trapping some nerves.
