In hospital I just packed black long vest tops and black leggings for sleeping and for daytime. I don't really wear dedicated nightwear ever and at least if I don't manage to put a fresh set on every day then I don't look like I'm still in my pyjamas.

Potkettleblack2 · 02/05/2016 21:37

I've got a (not very pretty) dark nightie from primark-it's not button down but last time my nightie got quite bloody so I took it off after labour for skin to skin anyhow. They had them in loads of patterns-its like an oversized t-shirt with a few buttons at the top. I also got two of this style nightie from Tesco which I plan to wear with leggings (or without if I'm too hot) for breastfeeding after. www.clothingattesco.com/womens-nightwear/f+f-polka-dot-print-nightshirt/invt/cc611516
I have a lightweight dressing gown and as I was kept in for 5 nights last time I got loads of wear out of it, but if everything was more straight forward I wouldn't have needed one...so it's hard to say if you should get one or not!

ILovePies · 02/05/2016 22:11

Thanks nehagarg for the new thread. Crazy that you'll have a baby next week!!

ILovePies · 02/05/2016 22:14

Biking sorry to hear about your app. Hope scan goes well tomorrow.
Booked glad you're home!

strawberrypenguin · 02/05/2016 22:38

Glad your home booked hope things stay under control now.

Sorry you had a worrying appointment biking hope scan goes well tomorrow.

I've got some t shirts, a pair of pyjama bottoms and a pair of leggings packed in hospital bag. Figured I could sleep or spend day/go home in any of that! Have a light weight black pyjama tshirt to labour in - same one I used last time.

TomboyGirl · 02/05/2016 22:39

Haven't been here for a while....thanks for the new thread neha and all the best for next week!

cautiousoptimist1 · 02/05/2016 22:42

Thank you for all of the ideas ladies.

MindfulBear · 03/05/2016 00:29

I had a labour shirt / nightie last time - so soft. Perfect after birth when my skin was crawling & I couldn't bear the touch of most clothing ( weird?!). Still got it so will wear again. I also got some cheap pj bottoms in a size up and my normal size from M&S, which I wore in hospital and st home for months after with long vest tops. Worked well.

Later j got some hot milk BF pjs (from figleaves I think) which were lovely abd made me feel a bit more glam :)

Fat face did some excellent button down vest tops which are less strappy than others but otherwise primark & h&m were fab for vests.

MindfulBear · 03/05/2016 00:30

Btw anyone using raspberry leaf tea? Any recommendations on where to get it and what dose I need?!

insideout · 03/05/2016 07:56

I found all the maternity/ breastfeeding clothes from last time this weekend, I had bought 2 primark breastfeeding nighties which turn into peephole nighties after about 30 seconds of wear! Not sure if its bad design or just my huge norks overwhelming it! Grin

By far the best I found was some primark dresses made of lightweight jersey fabric, they do sleeved and strappy versions, I went for the biggest size I could then just popped a cardi over the top( although last time I was still fully dressed and had to wrestle my trousers off mid contraction!)

JellyBaby26 · 03/05/2016 07:58

Mindful, I drank gallons of it last time and got it from holland and Barrett. You just need a kettle and a mug ;)

nehagarg · 03/05/2016 08:56

I had my first today Mindful. Cant have too many as I am also on iron but will have at least 2-3 mugs a day. Anything to help the induction process speed up.

For the ladies with blood pressure and/or liver issues, have you checked with your consultant about the raspberry leaf? I was advised not to take it last time because of reduced liver function, and in my first pregnancy (pre eclampsia) there were concerns about drug interactions. It is most likely that they were being over cautious but it might be worth mentioning?

nehagarg · 03/05/2016 09:39

Aaah thanks insideout ... I'll check with my midwife today. Had no idea!

MindfulBear · 03/05/2016 10:21

Thanks inside what's the interaction with iron - do you know?

I've read raspberry leaf tea is good after birth too re getting the uterus back in shape. But don't remember reading that last time!!!

GrubbyWindows · 03/05/2016 10:25

Apparently eating dates from about 36 weeks can help with labour, or so my midwife tells me (a new study from the Middle East), but you need to be careful not to overdo the sugar, so maybe cut down on other sweet things to balance out. In lieu of raspberry leaf tea!

dollydaydream84 · 03/05/2016 10:41

anyone else feel absolutely unable to deal with things that are just a tiny bit stressful? From builders to minor issues at work which I would usually just brush off, I am getting myself all worked up about it and I know its only because I'm pregnant and the hormones do weird stuff to me!!

nehagarg · 03/05/2016 11:23

Grubby ... I actually read about it and ordered some last night! Also primrose oil helps the cervix soften, I read.

Oh no dolly ... I am the same. Found myself crying about something absolutely ridiculous the other day (had run out of toast) ... Blush

I'm another weeper lately! Also needing a proper rest after walking up hill to the bus stop. I think I'm going to knock a week off my planned end date at work, I'm not very useful at all at the mo...

strawberrypenguin · 03/05/2016 12:02

Had scan this morning. Little guy is an estimated 5lb 11 at the moment so pretty much bang on average. They did find that his head is 'slightly lemon shaped' though after I asked them to check, which is how DS's Cranio condition presented last time (although his was much more severe than what I saw today) so that's going to be a fun 'wait and see'. Back to clinic in 2 weeks as my sugar levels are starting to creep up, they should make the induction or not call then (I'll be 37 weeks).

laughingGnomette · 03/05/2016 14:50

Another weeper here too!

nehagarg · 03/05/2016 14:50

Glad he is measuring average strawberry. Hopefully the head shape is another one of those things that right themselves and it will all measure fine next time. Hate the wait until the next scan though. Have had to do that a couple of times and hated it.

I also had a scan today and appointment with the consultant. The cheeky boy is still breech but looking lovely and although measuring a week or two ahead, he is growing consistently. I'll be having another scan in three weeks to see if he has turned, if he hasn't I'll be having an ELCS at 39 weeks, if he is in the right position, I'll be booked in for an ELCS after I reach 40 weeks and if I go into labour before this date then I'll try for VBACS. I'm so happy with this, it's just what I wanted. I really didn't want to try induction. I'm also happy that if he is breech they'll let me get to 39 weeks and won't make me have him any earlier. :)

Eastend2015 · 03/05/2016 15:50

Strawberry thinking of you and fingers x'd for the next scan.

Laughing good news! I have my 34 week scan next week then a chat with the consultant so I'll know more about my prospects then.

strawberrypenguin · 03/05/2016 15:56

Great news laughing sounds like you have a solid plan in place now.
