Just bleh over here, sick and tired! And still a week till "reassurance" scan. Sad sanity is fast leaving me

ElleSarcasmo · 06/05/2016 08:09

I'm planning to do NCT Shelb. We are moving to a new area where I don't know anyone so hoping it will be a good way to meet people. From what others say, it seems very much luck of the draw whether you'll get a group you click with, so if you have other friends with babies it might not be worth it? I haven't looked at the cost yet so have no idea!

ElleSarcasmo · 06/05/2016 08:10

Hugs Feefs, I know exactly what you mean! Time is still passing way too slowly for me too Flowers

shelbTa · 06/05/2016 08:17

Hang in there feefs Cake it really is the toughest bit in the beginning. How many weeks are you again?

Elle - I know, it seems really forced going to make friends doesn't it! Also, my oh isn't exactly touchy feeling so Christ knows how he's guna get on with the massage sessions and bits about birth - might be worth the money just to see him squirm!

X

PotatosMum · 06/05/2016 08:20

Shelb I'm going to a council run baby class, I don't really want to spend the money on nct and I'm not terribly sociable in real life Blush
I have a horrible feeling that the council run one will be full of people I'm a bit to snobby to get on with if my night in hospital is anything to go by Blush

Sorry you're feeling rubbish Feef

Keep on trucking Feef, this part really does suck, but it gets better! Hugs!

Potato we're giving these EAs another week and then going to boot them I think. Am all over the staging, half our possessions have been in the loft for the last 6 weeks! At this rate we really might be at the 'giving birth in the back of a Pickfords van' stage, esp if we can't find somewhere we like quickly. Hey ho, more viewings today and tomorrow so we'll see if there are any takers.

Planeteer · 06/05/2016 08:34

Oh, and Elle, pregnancy pillow is the Dream Genii... Got it on Amazon Smile

Canters15 · 06/05/2016 08:41

We are doing nct classes. Mainly because I don't know anyone with a baby and I am determined to find someone to befriend. I don't know anyone in our area so mat leave might be quite lonely otherwise. Also my DH is completely freaked out by the idea of anything other then giving birth on a bed so I think he needs some education. I'm just going to glaze over for all the stuff that's a bit too hippie.

Made such a rookie error yesterday. Really wanted a can of full fat coke which I had at about 9pm. Forgot I haven't touched caffeine in weeks and of course it's now so effective I couldn't sleep for most of the night. Knackered today!

BunchOfBobs · 06/05/2016 08:45

Elle the advice I've read would seem to suggest stretchy wraps and ring slings for newborns, but I don't look at any form of buckle or structured carriers, I'm sure some people prefer them.
Stretchy brands are those such as moby, boba and hana. It's worth doing some research as there's so much info out there.

Potato I've read babies can become "engaged" from 28 weeks but that seems so early. I've also read that some babies change position even whilst in labour. I certainly won't be concerned about it until week 39. I think Pip prefers a transverse lie as I'm always being battered from the sides. He likes to kick and punch at the same time the little git. Just wait until I get him swaddled Wink

I woke up last night to the most horrendous cramp in my left calf. It still hasn't recovered. Damn pregnancy symptoms.
I have laundry to hang out now but I don't want to get up as I know as soon as I do the bump pain will kick off. Driving home last night was so uncomfortable from it.

No NCT for me, we're already shelling out for Hypnobirthing classes and our "local" NCT classes are an hour away. Not exactly good for meeting local new mums. I have my nhs free ones from 5th July booked.

Pinklily1 · 06/05/2016 08:50

We are planning on doing NCT as well Shelb. Not sure if the price varies depending on region but it's about £180 here for two full days and one half day session. I've heard varying things but will give it a go.

Shelb, my sickness has passed again, thanks. Starting to feel dizzy again now too, but not a great deal I can do about that!

Good luck today Bunch.

Feef, fingers crossed the next week flies by. Is the reassurance scan your 12 week scan?

Newmrs22 · 06/05/2016 09:25

Morning ladies.

Omg Bunch Ive had terrible calf cramp. This morning it feels like I've ran a half marathon on it.

We are doing NCT. I don't know any local people with babies so fingers crossed they are nice! It was quite expensive.

I'm currently waiting for the health visitor! She's coming to do an antenatal home visit. I'm a bit Hmm about what she's going to talk about. I sort of think it's just so she can have a little spy on the house.

Danni89 · 06/05/2016 09:32

I'm doing a 6 week course with "The Daisy Foundation"- £72 for the 6 sessions, it takes place in my local mothercare.. Will start end of June

shelbTa · 06/05/2016 11:00

Omg - today and yesterday I'm feel the first definite definite movements from the baby, it's ace! Only took nearly 24 weeks Blush

BunchOfBobs · 06/05/2016 13:57

Woohoo Shelb!

Drs went fine, he's happy with my heart and said its just one of those things. Bump pain he thinks to be muscular and to speak to Physio about it. It's actually much better today so maybe I did pull a muscle and now it's healing.

LillianFullStop · 06/05/2016 15:19

I'm thinking about pregnancy pillows now too - I normally sleep on my back but it seems to give me lower back pain now. I try to make myself sleep on the side but I keep switching to my back without realising.

I'd like to join an NCT class too as our families are all abroad so it would be good to meet people.Trying to decide between NCT or a local Babies and Bumps group nearby.

Newmrs22 · 06/05/2016 15:32

Yay Shelb I saw my first movement last night. It was exciting/freaky. My whole belly jumped Grin

shelbTa · 06/05/2016 15:56

Thanks guys.

Good news about the old ticker bunch.

LillianFullStop · 06/05/2016 17:12

Great news shelb and new!! I still have a while to go at only 16w but I'm looking forward to it!

Good news it's nothing too serious bunch!

Stay hydrated and covered up this weekend mums to be - whatever you're up to this sunny weekend Smile I've been warned skin is extra sensitive to the sun while pregnant!

leoniethelioness · 06/05/2016 17:34

We're doing a NCT one too. I've not booked it yet but will do after my scan next week. So excited to find out if we're having a son or daughter. I'm quite nervous about the scan - just hope everything is OK!

leoniethelioness · 06/05/2016 17:35

I saw a couple with one of these slings for their baby and it looked so comfortable for the little one - www.kari-me.com/index.php/kari-me-black.html. Not sure if they're any good but looked the part and the tiny baby seemed content!

Pinklily1 · 06/05/2016 18:09

New and Shelb, not sure if you have tried baths since babies started moving. I had one the other night and baby went crazy - kept seeing my tummy move. I think she liked the warm water. It was so weird, in a good way!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 06/05/2016 18:09

Yep, I've got a heat rash everywhere and I burnt my legs! Was only outside with them out for 20 minutes! Everywhere else had suncream on!

Scan date is set for two weeks today. Will be about 13 weeks so it's something to look forward to I hope.

Did anyone else who has previously never had any issues with having their blood taken nearly keeled over at their booking in?! I find it fascinating so always watch and next thing, I'm having all sorts of hot/cold wobbles and had to have a lie down! Mortified! I'm stupid because I hadn't had any brekkie, was waiting much longer than we anticipated and it was boiling!

Pinklily1 · 06/05/2016 18:10

Leonie, the baby in the picture looks pretty cosy too, and nice and secure.

shelbTa · 06/05/2016 19:28

Pink no I haven't had a bath yet actually (I've had showers, obvs!) - might give it a whirl.

Stark - yeah, I made a right twat of myself last time had my bloods done, feel your pain. Nurse looked at me like "she's guna be screwed in labour".

mayago · 06/05/2016 19:54

I once fainted after a flu jab Stark.. Not one of my finer moments.

Managed enough energy to cut the grass this afternoon, but had to stop pulling weeds as I felt like I was going to pass out. I have a house valuation on Wednesday (going for a part ex on a new home with OH) and parents are visiting on Friday so lots to do here.

Have tentatively made up with OH. He has a lot of making up to do though!
