Today I have felt awesome, on the inside though, I look like shit on the outside! Bacon and avocado salad and an end to constipationgate!

leoniethelioness · 05/05/2016 19:41

Has anyone bought a pram yet?

We're looking on Tuesday after the anomaly scan. We're looking at the Silver Cross Surf 2, Stokke Scoot and Bugaboo Bee - and maybe a Baby Jogger too. What have you bought?

Newmrs22 · 05/05/2016 19:44

Yeah the guidelines have changed for whooping cough, but each area has to sign off certain forms so the nurses are able to administer the jab earlier. I think the variation is just because some areas take longer to sort the paperwork.

We started looking at buggies. It's so confusing. There are so many!

Pinklily1 · 05/05/2016 19:45

"Constipationgate" made me chuckle Starky. Glad it's come to an end though!

Fingers crossed all works out with the flat sale and house purchase Potato. We bought a new build last year and even that was stressful.

Bunch, are the heart palpitations pregnancy related?

I think the diabetes test is at 28 weeks here too. I've got my next midwife appointment on Wednesday at just over 24 weeks so I'm going to ask about the whooping cough guideline changes.

Heading home to try on my new purchase Smile Fingers crossed they fit. Has anyone come across any maternity cardigans, that aren't waterfall style? And belts? I want an over the bump belt to accessorise a dress, but all I can find are sash's (which will be fine if my belt quest fails).

Pinklily1 · 05/05/2016 19:49

Leonie, we haven't bought it yet but we are getting an icandy peach. We looked at the Bugaboo chameleon as well but decided we want one that will convert to a double buggy for when baby no. 2 (hopefully) comes along, and we don't like the Bugaboo Donkey, which is the only convertible one in the Bugaboo range, as it is very bulky. OH is 6"2 and looked silly with a Bee!

We looked at a Baby Jogger as well, to get in addition to another one for running with (I run a lot), but we were told they aren't for jogging/running. Makes the name slightly misleading! A few of my friends have them as their main buggy though and love them. I've heard nothing but positive reviews of them.

shelbTa · 05/05/2016 19:50

Get some fake tan on stark, I'm about to do the same! Normally cheers me up.

X

IrregularCommentary · 05/05/2016 20:46

Leonie we've gone for the Uppababy Vista. Gets great reviews and my friend has one that I've used quite a bit when out with her daughter so I know I like using it.

I'd definitely check out www.discountbabyequip.co.uk/ anyone who's looking to buy pushchairs. Cheaper than high street prices by quite a way and I was very impressed with speedy delivery etc.

leoniethelioness · 05/05/2016 20:47

Pink DH is 6'4"... Maybe the Bugaboo is not such a good idea.

I've bought a normal-style maternity cardigan from Vertbaudet.

Pinklily1 · 05/05/2016 20:58

Thanks Leonie, i'll have a look at that one.

I'd put your OH next to a Bee, it looked like mine was pushing a toy pram! The chameleon and buffalo are bigger though.

IndiX · 05/05/2016 21:07

Evening ladies!
We've got the iCandy peach, I've heard really good things and seems fine to push the dogs round the house in for now! Grin

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/05/2016 21:15

Dh wants a sling "for hands free daddy-ing!" And we've got a buggy that can be used from newborn. But I've no clue yet when it comes to actual prams etc, still in a bit of denial, all will become clear in the next couple of weeks I'm sure and ill chill out a bit then. Grin

shelbTa · 05/05/2016 21:28

Hmm might look into this Icandy peach! Think we are going for the silver cross wayfarer.

X

IndiX · 05/05/2016 21:32

Yeah stark you've just reminded me about the sling things..can anyone recommend a good one? Is it baby bjorn that are meant to be good? It'll be more for DH than me

PotatosMum · 05/05/2016 21:36

Shelb I had the same mental hormonal thing going on a few days ago. It was the first time if been properly hormonal... There must be a 23 week blip no one warned us about Wink

Stark In theory you will look and feel wonderful once you get to the second trimester... And if you do let us know as I think so far the looking and feeling good has skipped us all Hmm

Leonie I bought a Cosatto Giggle 2 a while back, it gorgeous and the price was amazing for what you got. I think a few others have bought the same one.

I spent most of the evening watching 5 baby fox cubs playing at OHs old house. They've made a den under the shed and they are so cute!! want own fox cubs for the new house

OP posts:
StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/05/2016 21:41

Fox cubs!! 😍😍😍😍 ohemgee sooooo cute!!

potato I know I've been unspeakably lucky so far with regards to feeling, I'm half expecting to get hideous sickness from now on as a punishment for the first trimester! I'm determined to get up, wash my hair and put my eyebrows on tomorrow!

Not sure about proper sling makes indi I'd better do some research!

Pinklily1 · 05/05/2016 21:54

For those feeling movement, have you noticed patterns yet?

Baby is usually always active first thing in the morning and then at night when I'm just lying on the sofa, but I've felt nothing this evening. I had definite prods during the day today, but I'm finding it unnerving that baby is quiet tonight.

We've inherited a Baby Bjorn carrier which OH will probably try out but I can't comment on slings generally as they don't massively float my boat so I've not looked into them.

BunchOfBobs · 05/05/2016 22:21

Not getting a pram here, just slings/wraps. I have 4 at the minute with the view to get 2 more Hmm

Indi if you're going for a baby carrier style please go for the ergo carrier rather than the baby bjorn. They're not great for hips otherwise. Mine are all long fabric slings to be wrapped to carry baby in. I have 2 stretches a moby and a boba, a Calin bleu gauze and a little frog woven. We want a ring sling as well but as DH wants boring plain colours and I like prints we need two Grin

BunchOfBobs · 05/05/2016 22:24

Oh and re: heart palpatations. I think so. I never had them before. Midwife asked me to get it checked with gp to be safe.

PotatosMum · 06/05/2016 07:30

Stark I hope the crapness passes you by. I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy although it does distract you from worrying about the baby Wink

Pink I thought Potato had a pattern until a week or two ago. Now she's a lot more unpredictable. I think once their hearing and sense of balance

Planeteer · 06/05/2016 07:48

Morning all. Sorry for quietness, mental few days at work. Going to have to have a v difficult conversation with my (useless) manager about workload today. If he makes any sort of insinuation about me being hormonal I might punch him in the face. A rational and not at all hormonal reaction, obv!

Leonie we've got the Giggle 2, like Potato. It was between this and the Armadillo Flip XT (seriously, someone has a job involving coming up with these names! I'd quite like to meet this person.) The one we went for isn't the most compact out there, but it seems really versatile and a proper bargain for the amount of stuff you get with it.

Potato any more house news? Sorry it's hit a stressful bump in the road. We have STILL not had an offer on ours, despite dropping the price. Starting to get a bit panicky.

Bunch sending lots of thoughts to your dad. Bet he'll be really glad to see you.

After several nights of rubbish sleep I was really excited when my pregnancy pillow arrived, and thought 'hurrah! Come at me, sleep!' Instead I seem to have spent the night wrestling with a fabric elephant. There must be more of a knack to it than I'd realised. So. Tired!

Hope everyone has happy Fridays.

PotatosMum · 06/05/2016 07:56

Err... Not sure what happened there, half my post, didn't Confused

What I was trying to say is that once the baby can hear and has balance I think it becomes more reactive.

Anyway, how is everyone today?

I'm feeling a little less stiff and pained now Smile so hopefully I'm on the mend. I really would like to go back to work for the last couple of weeks before leaving on maternity. I'm supposed to go back a week Monday when I'll have about 6 weeks left.

Does anyone know when the baby is supposed to turn head down? I read a post yesterday worrying that her baby hadn't at 28 weeks Confused I thought it was much later than that. I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and I'm certain Potato is bum down based on kicks and pokes.

PotatosMum · 06/05/2016 08:05

Planet the first couple of nights with a pregnancy pillow are a bit weird until you get used to it... I don't actually rest my legs on mine often I "hug" it to seep my body in a more comfortable side on position.

No more news on the house. Although I've spoken to the HA and they don't think there will be any problem with the buyers application so I'm assuming all will be well and continuing on that basis.

Regarding your house, have you thought about ditching your EA and trying another? With OHs house the first EA we used didn't manage to sell it after a month. We changed to a different one and it sold in 2 weeks. It's worth a try.
The only other advice I was given is staging. We were told that people these days expect to walk into a show home so if you haven't completely decluttered and made it look like a hotel room you'll put half the buyers off. Confused

Morning

Good luck with manager planet!

Glad you're wfeeling perkier potato. No idea about turning - I know very little!

Speaking of which - is anyone planning on doing nct classes? We are in two minds - my friends have said its worth doing if only to meet first time parents in your area. But not sure....it is very expensive.

X

ElleSarcasmo · 06/05/2016 08:06

Bunch which slings are best to use with a newborn? I am so confused by all the choice Confused hope it goes ok with the gp today.

Potato glad you're on the mend. 6 weeks at work will fly by!

Planet hope you have some luck this week selling your place! It is so stressful moving. Where did you get your pregnancy pillow?
