kudos to conkertree for already planning a big running effort after the baby is born by the way!

conkertree · 08/03/2007 11:14

its the only way i'd get off the sofa - to have the rest of the family doing it, and so i'd feel guilty if i didnt.

think that purplerabbit got all the discipline in our family and she will be training again as soon as she can after, but i am determined to lose any weight i gain, cause have been on the verge of overweight for long enough now. lots of lovely walks around us now, so am quite happy that i will do a lot more walking than i currently do when i have a baby and am not driving to work every day.

on the birthing side of it - i'm interested too to find out more about self hypnosis and things as have heard lots of good things and none bad (so far) about it. not sure if there are any classes like that around glasgow though - that'll give me something to look up at lunchtime.

peanuthead · 08/03/2007 11:16

yeah I'm finding the whole not feeling well enough to exercise plus eating too much and not properly a bit stressful. it's odd after god knows how many years of exercise to not be able to. the same goes for eating healthily - feel very guilty about both. i'd always (stupidly) assumed I'd keep exercising while pg and eat properly too. no idea I'd be so floored by it!

I'm not going to think about ante natal classes now for a while - and if they book up and i have no friends sod it - I managed to get myself so stressed last night that I ended up in tears over it when dh suggested it might be a bit overpriced. Hormones I suppose... seemed a bit of an overreaction to me too!

It's a lovely day here in South london too! Just been pottering about the garden and have finally got myself some shifts booked at work after harassing them for 2 weeks so I can (try to) stop worrying about money..

kiteflying · 08/03/2007 11:36

Oh peanuthead, poor you. I burst into tears last night as well - why? because when I got off the train there was an Arsenal game on and my boyfriend couldn't reach me to pick me up. Ridiculous and totally the consequence of hormones.
Sorry that AN classes are stressing you out - we should be enjoying ourselves now for the little time we get to feel no ms and some energy (unless you are me) before we turn into whales. And the sun is out! Hope your DH comes around.

Katybird, I am looking at the ABC calendar and thinking of booking the early June weekend workshop - do you think that might suit you as well?

katybird · 08/03/2007 11:40

I know what you mean about the guilt - I'm still off some foods so just eating what I can, but my exercising has tailed off almost completely. You can only do what your body is ready for though, so don't feel guilty - we should all be due for a burst of energy in a few weeks, that's what they keep telling me anyway.

Does your hospital run antenatal classes? They're probably more basic but they should be free, and let's face it when we're in labour it should all come naturally anyway! It is possible to know too much.

kiteflying · 08/03/2007 11:45

(sputters...then guffaws) hospital? What hospital?

tokentotty · 08/03/2007 11:47
katybird · 08/03/2007 11:48

Kiteflying - I could make the Active Birth workshop on June 2nd but we're away in Spain over 9th and 10th. Shame, would be great to know someone on the course. Can't wait for my holiday though! I might book on the July one, shame they don't run them more often.

tokentotty · 08/03/2007 11:48

Actually Kite, in all seriousness would you be interested in seeing "Betty the midwife" (tm) privately ???

katybird · 08/03/2007 11:55

Good point, sorry, I was confusing you with someone else. Meant no offence. But I still think too much information can be a bad thing!

kiteflying · 08/03/2007 11:57

Don't feel sorry for me tt, I am convinced I have brought this on myself!

I would be interested, yes, but probably need to wait until I see if QC will accept me in which case I will be happy. Do you think there might be an issue with availability if I wait another week or so?

katybird · 08/03/2007 12:03

I'm sure a week can't make too much of a difference, I have no real urgency to book. I might give them a call, will let you know. Good look with QC!

kiteflying · 08/03/2007 12:05

sorry - I meant interested in betty..

katybird · 08/03/2007 12:09

No probs - I'm so confused today! Another lovely side-effect...

tokentotty · 08/03/2007 12:10

It's not just pity Kite ! Am happy to share "Betty the midwife" (tm) and she truly is great. Besides, I thought you'd mentioned that it might be something you'd be interested in anyway. Am seeing her Saturday and already looking forward to it. Will try not to cry this time as last time she was so lovely to me I just started welling up ! Have no idea whether she'd be booked up completely or not I'm afraid. But if you start taking your floradix liquid daily and your Mum Omega (from Boots) then you'd be teacher's pet straight away anyway I'm sure

kiteflying · 08/03/2007 12:12

Oh she sounds great. I have floradix in the kitchen untouched but have been on mumomega since ttc days - do you think that almost makes a good reference?

Can you maybe insert a link if she has a website?

tokentotty · 08/03/2007 12:16

Hey.....MBE for services to midwifery dontcha know ! Take the Floradix, take the Floradix !! That's up there with a reference for Betty I think. And no, she's not a website kind of lady. She's not a spring chicken if you know what I mean...

kiteflying · 08/03/2007 12:27

not sure what the mumsnet rules are for sharing info on midwives on this site that's all - thought we could shortcut any by inserting a link. I can't put my email on here because I only have a work address - are you able to give any details for Betty here?

tokentotty · 08/03/2007 12:30

Oh really ?? Ooh unaware of anything like that (never been a great one for small print )

I only use my work mail address too but not sure how the CAT thingy works. Will perhaps ask my experienced MN friend...

kiteflying · 08/03/2007 12:43

maybe just tap in betty's details and I will try and edit the thread to remove them as soon as I have taken them down?

Mrsshuvel · 08/03/2007 14:16

Hi Ladies

Been so busy at work that i haven't managed to get on here for a few days. There's so much to catch up on!

Kite - Good luck with the hospital situation, hope it all works out.

Loler - Congrats on house sale, happy house hunting.

Stretch, Pink - the garden ideas sound lovely.

Peanut - Do you live anywhere near Greenwich. I just started to go to an Aquanatal class on Monday evenings. They are a really nice bunch of women. It's exercise and i'm making friends! The women are all at different stages of pregnancy too.

peanuthead · 08/03/2007 16:12

Hi Mrs Shuvel
Yes near enough - although not so near as I was now I'm not cycling - didn't even know there was a swimming pool there, I've been hunting for one locally as Peckham is shut. That sounds perfect..

peanuthead · 08/03/2007 16:14

Although have just been sick so might have to leave it a week or so. Does it never end?????????? I'm 16 weeks this weekend - surely surely I've got to stop with the ms.

Mrsshuvel · 08/03/2007 16:14

If its just swimming you want i think there is a pool at Camberwell too.

Come along to Greenwich Monday nights though. Aquanatal is at Arches Leisure Centre, Trafalger Rd. Its on between 8 & 9pm. You'll enjoy it.

tokentotty · 08/03/2007 16:22

Oh aquanatal sounds lovely - is it ??
