Booking in done

Need to wait for a scan in the post

Boring

LisaTheGreek · 08/03/2016 15:56

Congrats Afreshstart!

It's a complete anti-climax, isn't it? I thought I'd brought my expectations down after others on here had spoken about it being really boring and dull, but I think I still had a bit of excitement about it being my first appt.

The excitement disappeared very quickly....

Afreshstartplease · 08/03/2016 16:02

Mine didn't even take long as my answers from last time were all saved was just confirming all the same and taking blood

IrisPurple1 · 08/03/2016 16:06

I know it's weird - you don't feel pregnant during the first trimester, there's no bump and you can't tell anyone!

Afreshstartplease · 08/03/2016 16:07

I have got some form of bump going on I don't know if it's because it's DC4 but I can't fasten most of my trousers Shock

DisneyDiva87 · 08/03/2016 16:13

My booking in appointment is next Tuesday, I'm more feart of my midwife being mean than excited about anything. It's good to know that I won't have to answer all the questions again, although what actually happens then? Do they take blood at the booking appointment? I can't remember

Yes take bloods

They are meant to measure your height and weight but mine didn't, discuss hospital and screening tests

That's about it

Oh and take your blood pressure

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 08/03/2016 17:00

I know what you mean fresh I am finding it all boring at the moment, nothing happens for so long.
Maybe it's because I only have small gaps or because it is my 4th but it all seems a bit meh.
At my booking in app the midwife couldn't get the system to print out my stickers for me, I said I might have some from last time and I did 2 whole sheets!
I have kept a copy of all the notes from my previous pgs in case I wanted to talk to anyone about them afterwards as there is always something that goes wrong. Feeling really sick and hungry today, just ate a quiche, I am getting a big potbelly so down to 2 pairs of trousers already!

MyBreadIsEggy · 08/03/2016 17:14

Afreshstart me too! This is number 2 for me and I feel like a blimp already. Couldn't get my jeans done up this morning, so pulled a pair of maternity jeggings out from under the bed, saved from when I was pregnant with DD Blush

climbingcheesecake · 08/03/2016 17:25

Evening all, I am with you on the weird limbo state. Some days I am freaking out because my scan is in 2 weeks and that now seems really soon, keeping everything crossed that the scan goes to plan, it will suddenly seem real and I will need to start telling people which I am quite scared about!
Other days 2 weeks seems like ages and I just want to get it over with to at least find out if there is a real live baby in there.
I saw a friend earlier and found out she is pregnant too and due a couple of months before me which is cool, I really wanted to tell her but I am going to wait.
I also can't button jeans up anymore.

FuzzyOwl · 08/03/2016 17:53

Just checking in.

Banana great scan picture.

Esjay I am so pleased for you that everything went well today.

pinkbuttons · 08/03/2016 17:59

Hello all checking in to the new thread. 9+6 here due #3 5th October.

Had my booking in yesterday, most exciting thing to report back is that my midwife is a man!
Also one thing I didn't know is he warned me off decaf coffee and tea, apparently the chemicals are more dangerous than the caffeine to baby? Is this the same advice everywhere?

Sickness awful yesterday but better today fingers crossed this is the start of improvement. Also starting to see signs of a bump/bloat here, can do up trousers but more comfy in my yoga pants :)

Afreshstartplease · 08/03/2016 19:01

I haven't heard this about decaf!

Any one else?

IrisPurple1 · 08/03/2016 19:10

No I hadn't! - have 1-2 cups decaff tea a day in addition to my morning caffeinated brew.

I mean - what can we drink? As booze is banned and I'm trying to avoid sugary drinks I exist on fruit/mint/vanilla tea and tonic water, all of which taste of varying shades of cardboard. Why can't someone make drinks that are safe for pregnant women - or even those who don't want to put sugar or chemicals into our bodies?

athousandsplendidsuns · 08/03/2016 20:00

I had heard it wasn't great for you, pregnant or not. I can only cope with very cold milk or (rationed) coke at the moment...pregnancy is weird. Maybe diluted fruit juice is OK as its natural sugar?

BigPigLittlePig · 08/03/2016 20:39

Similar drink dilemma here. Squash is my mainstay, for now. Until I get sick of it. Dh offered me some non-alcoholic mulled wine at the weekend, found stashed at the back of a cupboard. The very thought nearly had me running to the loo.

Still no sign of a scan date here, very impatiently waiting!

And my own house smells weird Sad

BeckyNW · 08/03/2016 22:02

Hello! Haven't dared to post on here before, but told the parents this weekend so now it feels a bit more real.

I am 38, first ever pregnancy, due 20th Oct, currently 7 + 5. Feel fantastic at the moment, just occasional nausea but otherwise really well. Trying not to worry about the lack of symptoms!

Regarding drinks - thank goodness for redbush! I now drink this instead of tea. I tried it before but didn't like it black - hadn't realised you can put milk in it. DH is even drinking it now too, in preference to tea!

Also we have been experimenting with alcohol free wine and beer. It's actually pretty good - and lower calorie than the normal stuff! Limited ranges available in supermarkets, or anything you want at alcoholfree.co.uk

TeaGirl3 · 08/03/2016 22:15

Hi everyone! Hadn't realised there was a new thread! Great to see how fast it's moving.

I told my boss today, who was very supportive, which was a relief, but also scary as it seems more real now. Booked my first appointment for next Friday, when I'll be almost 9 weeks, exciting!

Been having stomach cramps today, particularly under my rib cage and top of my stomach, which hasn't been nice; felt sick at work for the first time too, not just in the morning or near dinner time. Not painful but just slightly uncomfortable, hopefully it'll go by tomorrow or soon. Hot water bottle is helping though.

Hope you're all ok!

pod100 · 08/03/2016 22:38

Oh I'd love to know about good alcohol free wines! I've tried Sainsbury's own brand which was like cordial and Fre Chardonnay which was nice when I first tasted it (straight after the Sainsburys stuff) but seemed really sweet the next time I tried. Yuk!

pod100 · 08/03/2016 22:39

Sorry, forgot to say "welcome"! Think I was too excited at the prospect of a nice wine, haha! Grin

The nausea is getting worse: particularly in the evenings, when I gag and retch quite a bit. No proper vomming yet though. I thought it was sipposed to get better at this point?!? Sad

Had booking in appt las week, wasn't finished so called back today to find my midwife away on a course, so another one saw me but couldn't finish the booking in appt....v cross as not sure what the point was, and now they want me to go back again next week, grrr
Disclaimer - I might have cried, and it might be hormone craziness! Confused

Tacoyaki · 09/03/2016 06:29

Checking in - hi everybody

Age: 35
EDD: 21 October
7+5

Feeling pretty normal so far except for soooooore boobs and a vague feeling something's cooking in there. AF cramps in past weeks but seem to have gone now. Like others time is dragging - tool on 12 week scan!! At a conference this week so have a distraction for a few days - phew...

MyBreadIsEggy · 09/03/2016 07:18

Got my first sicky feeling of this pregnancy this morning while brushing my teeth Confused all of a sudden, the taste of toothpaste induces a bout of dry heaving!! Which is weird considering I've been popping mint imperials in the car with no problems Hmm

JulietteL · 09/03/2016 08:55

I hate brushing my teeth at the moment. I used a gag a little before, but now I can't brush the back teeth without retching constantly. It's a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Sad
