Due in September 2007 - anyone else out there? What happens next?

OK, so I have the positive pregnancy testS! - we have told one person, are agonising about who else to tell when, we have bought two books on pregnancy.

But what happens next? Do I just phone the doctor tommorow to make an appointment, should I wait a couple of weeks? Then what happens?

Total newbie to this, no idea what I am doing at all!

Im a senior psychiatric nurse.

How far are you then?

Yes once 12 weeks has passed im sure I will be jumping for joy!!

We may be due around the same time, (14th Sep for me)...

auschick · 10/01/2007 10:55

15th Sept for me!

EdieMcredie · 10/01/2007 11:08

Oh wow!! How exciting! Then we must keep posting on here and comparing notes...good luck to us both. Can't wait for Sep-hope it goes really quickly-or at least as you say til our 12 week scan xx

spraklynewthing · 10/01/2007 11:13

Hi all,

I'd like to join you too, as I have when lurking on MN for sometime but can't contain myself anymore.

I got my BFP on Christmas Eve (lovely xmas pressie!)- this is my first pregnancy, so very nervous and excited! My due date is 3rd Sept.

Everything has been going well until Tuesday when I had quite a heavy brown 'bleed' and some discomfort on my left side. Went to my GP yesterday, who was excellent. I went to the Early Pregnancy Unit this morning - I cannot fault the service. I was seen immediately and had a scan which clearly showed the sac and tiny heart beat. The baby is just 3mm! Amazing! Everything seems (touch wood) to be in the right place at the right time.

The scan also checking for any other bleeding, but none was found. I have been told to rest up for a day or so and to contact them again if the bleeding or pain worsens.

The scan was HUGELY reassuring but as other have said here - apparently this type of brown bleed is very common and more than likely the result of implantantion. Definitely worth checking it out though as the nurse did also admit that these symtoms had also indicate eptoptic pg.

Anyway, enough of me - fingers crossed to all of us

x

canadianmum · 10/01/2007 11:19

hello, glad you got some reassurance sparkly, fingers crossed for 3rd Sept!

got my positive HPT last Friday and it seems like ages now....I am still having mild cramping on and off but no bleeding.

Made an appt with GP for the 22nd of Jan, I will be 6 weeks then, due 15th Sept.

I haven't told anyone but DH yet, not sure when to tell family and close friends, I read somewhere that the miscarriage rate drops after 8 weeks so might wait until then....anyone else waiting until a specific time to tell people???

mia84 · 10/01/2007 11:44

Im waiting unitl a scan at 12 weeks to tell anyone - but i have had 2 mc in the last year so i am very nervous!

I think i'm going to ring the midwife this week as i havent been in touch yet becasue im scared of going through all the form filling etc to lose this one as well! but i think i better move my bum soon so i can get a scan date!

How is everyone feeling today??

spraklynewthing · 10/01/2007 11:46

Thanks Canadianmum - congrats on your BFP!

In terms of telling people - my DH and I told both our families on Christmas Day, as it is about the only time in the whole year when they are together. Although I have no regrets about this and my sister, whos a nurse, said the waiting til 12 weeks thing is more to do with the fact that until 30 years ago women didn't have pregnancy actually confirmed until 12 weeks. I think it;s good to have the support, especially after the worries of the past couple of days.

It's a tricky one, isn't it?!

auschick · 10/01/2007 12:00

We plan to tell our families when we are about 8 weeks as we will be back home then. I used to be a believer in waiting until 12 weeks - but now that I've been through a pregnancy I think it helps to have support early on, no matter what happens. Still - it's a personal choice.

maretta · 10/01/2007 13:19

Hi everyone

Very sad for those for whom it's not worked out. . wishing you all the best for the future.

Sparklynewthing - your experience sounds exactly like what hapenned to me first time round. I now have a very healthy and huge 3 and a half year old. Can't believe he was just that little pulsating egg sack. Fingers crossed for us all anyway.

Can we start a list of people so I can keep up - say name, due date, location and age gaps between other dcs and the September baby. If you copy paste and add your details.

Maretta, 8/9/2007, Manchester, ds 1 will be 4y3m and ds2 2y

bendybus · 10/01/2007 13:49

Hello - good plan

This is me!

bendybus, 4 Sept 2007, London, DS 2.5

Just on the 'when to tell people thing' I had to tell my Mum straight away as she was here for Xmas and saw me counting on my fingers then suddenly not drinking!!

Will wait till after the scan for the others I think.

auschick · 10/01/2007 13:57

Auschick 15th sept, London, ds 12 months

the not drinking thing definately raises suspicions doesn't it!

I'm 36 but feel 20

AnguaVonUberwald · 10/01/2007 14:06

I am based in London, first pregnancy, due around 5th September.

I have to agree with some posters about the wind, I have been so windy its getting embarrasing, especially at work.

Went to the doctors yesterday for first appointment and she scared the hell out of me by telling me to get rid of my cats - (since posted on mums net and had about 50 posts telling me there shouldn't be a problem).

We have told my mother, DPs parents, one friend each and will tell DPs sister this weekend. Not planning on telling work etc till after 12 weeks.

Agree though that the big problem is explaining why not drinking. for people who don't know me well I am saying I am detoxing for January, but no friends would belive me!!

jess1996 · 10/01/2007 21:36

I had a scan today. I saw a sac and baby with heartbeat (very tiny though). There is also a second sac which seems to be empty. I'm going for another scan next week to check. Bleeding seems to have stopped so I'm feeling a bit better.

Nettee · 11/01/2007 05:31

Hello everyone, BFP this morning. Very excited

Sorry for everyone who has had to leave this thread or who are having worries.

My stats

Miss Mapp, 34, due 7th Sept ds 22mths.

we have told our parents but noone else until 12 weeks. This is what we did with our last, but its harder this time (dont know why?)

Im off to the gps this morning - if i can get an appointment, you have to phone on the day here, so will see what happens next. Hope for a 12 week scan as had one at 7 weeks last time as it was a clomid baby, so feel a bit bereft this time! Until the scan it just dosnt seem real. Any way best go, ds is getting restless. Hope all are well and will post again soon

Just popping in from the September 2006 postnatal thread to say congratulations to everyone I got my BFP this time last year and vividly remember how exciting it was.
Fingers crossed the summer won't be as hot as last for you all. Apart from that September is a lovely time to have a newborn

SheRaPOP · 11/01/2007 14:31

Hi all! I'm hoping to join you in this big adventure, had a very faint line on my test 6 days ago, confirmed with a BFP from a more sensitive test the next day. I'm 29, based in London and am first time 'with child', hehe. Due 18th Sept according to my mum who is a midwife (I'm so lucky!) so 4 weeks at this stage. What a gift to be given on Christmas day! Have been to the doctor already, and she has told me I can choose between Mayday and St George's, so I'm off on Saturday to check them both out before making a decision. Anyone else got their first scan booked at either one these hospitals?

So great to see there are a few of you who are already mums, as we 'freshies' will no doubt appreciate your advice and experience in many matters! I've duly added myself to the growing list below, hope this is ok.

My very warmest congratualations to you all!

Sherapop, St Georges is my closest hospital but I might go for St Thomas's as a couple of friends have recommended it, or possibly Chelsea Westminster.

I have decided to wait until 6 weeks to tell close family and close friends

EdieMcredie · 11/01/2007 20:01

What symptoms has everyone got? I want you all to cross your fingers and wish me luck for my scan tomorrow...

AnguaVonUberwald · 11/01/2007 20:11

EdieMcredie - fingers definitly crossed for your scan tommorow.

My main thing is still my breasts. They get more painful daily. When I turn over at night, i nearly want to shout out with the pain. - and I am sure they have got bigger - my bra felt tight for the first time today.

Also definitly much more tired.

I have felt slightly sick a few times, but only for a short while.

What is anyone else experiancing?

Hi all,
Can I join this thread? I'm due on 7th September, although my first DD was 12 days late and my second DD was 20 days late(!) so I could be due anytime in september. This baby is a (lovely) surprise. I was convinced that I had the rhythm method sussed - temperature taking to know when I'd ovulated etc.. Clearly not
I've got really achey legs, which I've not had before. Anyone else having this?

Best wishes to everyone. I've added myself to the bottom of the list - hope that's ok.
