OK, so I have the positive pregnancy testS! - we have told one person, are agonising about who else to tell when, we have bought two books on pregnancy.

But what happens next? Do I just phone the doctor tommorow to make an appointment, should I wait a couple of weeks? Then what happens?

Total newbie to this, no idea what I am doing at all!

Best wishes for tomorrow EdieMcredie, I'll be thinking of you! Do let us know how you get on.

My symptoms thus far include the sore breasts (helped somewhat by wearing a really comfy bra... usually i don't bother when I'm at home), more tired, a very mild cramping/windy type thing that goes on and off, and my pee seems to be a much brighter yellow and more smelly too!

Canadianmum, were you told by your doctor that you had those hospital choices? Mine said that other hospitals than the 2 she recommended would reject the referral, and this was confirmed when I called another hospital to ask about it I found a really interesting website about it where you can check stats etc called BirthChoiceUK It's strange - because from the info on this site, it seems like you could choose whatever hospital you wanted, but perhaps I've got that wrong. I'm hoping St George's is ok, I've heard both good and bad about both it and Mayday, but supposedly St George's is a bit bigger. It will be interesting doing the tours on the weekend, I'll let you all know how it goes!

My mother has also said that she will fly over to be here and possibly help deliver, although I am still considering the prospect of moving back to Australia where I would feel a lot safer with the public health system. There you are also actually paid A$4000 (which would be kind of like getting £4000 here as we spend dollars like pounds). I have to move back in December for work anyway, so it would mean just going a bit earlier. auschick, are you having yours here?

Where have jess1996, mia84, pepa, pottypotpot, redjulieb, and trinity1 gone? I hope you guys are all doing ok, don't forget to add your stats to the list if you're still with us on the forum

Hi all,

My ds is actually having a lie in!!!!! This never happens, I dont know what to do with myself...so of course, Im on here.

Good luck for the scan eddiemcreedy, Ill have my fingers crossed for you.

Made it to the doctors yesterday and have a midwife appointment at 9 weeks - wow. Apparantly they have brought the first appointment forward ( was 12 weeks) so you can discuss any early screening tests, so will have to start thinking about those. I only had the quad blood test last time, but I suppose im getting older. I didnt want any last time as we would keep the baby whatever, but I suppose theres no harm in being prepared. Anyone else had any thoughts on this?

Hope everyone ok today. Better go and clean the house, the in-laws are due at lunchtime!

Nettee · 12/01/2007 07:52

Hello everyone, good luck with your scan today Ediemcredie

It is still very early days for me but definately have bigger boobs than before and feeling slightly sick. That has been confused a bit by catching a vomiting bug on the day AF was due - hope it won't have affected the baby. Am taking pregnancy multivitamins in the hope that the zinc and magnesium will keep the ms at bay - read something about his last time but not sure that it helped that much.

In terms of screening mismapp I expect they are seeing you earlier than last time becuase they have different screening available now which has to be done earlier (I am a midwife by the way, will try not to be too much of a know all). Personally I would have all the screening and then tests if necessary but then would be in a difficult situation if there was a problem because I think that DH and I would disagree about what to do. I do think it is best to be prepared though. Need to think about what you would do if you didn't get the results you wanted and then decide if the screening is going to help you.

I have copied the list again below as one of my numbers had been cut off

Goodluck today EdieMcredie

SheRaPOP - I'm going back home for the birth. We were due to move back around Sept / Oct anyway. I'm finding it a little bit scary not knowing my options here or what the hospitals are like, although I find the comments on here really useful.

Not many symptoms for me yet. I'm enjoying it before the nausea sets in!

EdieMcredie · 12/01/2007 08:41

Thanks everybody for the good luck!! I have similar symptoms to some of you, sore boobs, urine darker and odd smelling (yuk), going to loo in middle of night.

Ive been feeling so positive about this baby that im not sure why im having this scan anymore. Im still able to feel the baby when I lie in bed at night, I know that must sound odd as im very early but I can feel like fluid in there and when I go on my side it's slightly uncomfortable.

Also last night I had the most horrendoes heartburn!!!! It was awful...so fingers crossed everything is fine...

How is everyone else??? xxxxxxxxxx

mia84 · 12/01/2007 08:43

My only symptoms are indegestion / wind i have felt sick a few times but not actually thrown up! My boobs are huge anyways, i wouldnt notice if they got bigger! but my nips are more sensitive!

Good luck for today edi,

EdieMcredie · 12/01/2007 12:22

Just back from scan.

They were quite surprised that I was there as they shouldn't take referrals until you are 6 weeks and im 5 today. They warned me that they may not be able to see anything at all and most certainly would not see a heartbeat which I already knew.

The nurses that did it were so lovely-the abdominal one didn't see much and the transvaginal saw two sacs but no yolk which they said was probably just because it was too early. They said it could well be twins.

Had some bloods too which I will get the results for this afternoon.

Nettee · 12/01/2007 13:43

Wow - Twins!! Are you going to have another scan? What are the blood tests for?

auschick · 12/01/2007 13:56

Congrats Edie! Start builiding up your sleep credits now - twins will keep you on your toes How wonderful.

EdieMcredie · 12/01/2007 14:07

Well yeah but not for def so not going to get my hopes up. The blood test is just to make sure I think as the scan was not that reassuring being so early. Would have liked them to see a yolk but I am only just 5 weeks today.

SparklyGothKat · 12/01/2007 14:20

Although I am out of this thread, have been reading everyone's news. Congratulations to the new mums and wow!! Edie, it could be twins

canadianmum · 12/01/2007 18:09

Sherapop, those were the hospital choices I was given when I had my boys 4 years ago; things may be different now. I actually ended up having my boys at Kings College, Camberwell as the consultant was recommended and they have an excellent SCBU - which I unfortunately had need of!

My symptoms - until yesterday I was having period like cramps but these have eased off. Boobs are Ok but nipples are sore. Hungry throughout the day and esp. first thing in the morning which is unusual for me. Funny flutterings in my tummy sometimes and also smelly wee . Mild heartburn the other night which I don't normally get.

Edie - twins are fabulous (well after the first year anyway ) so I hope you keep both - good luck!

EdieMcredie · 12/01/2007 18:20

Just had blood results and hormone is high so not miscarried as yet...sooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

canadianmum · 12/01/2007 19:07

Great news ediemcredie

YvieE · 12/01/2007 21:20

Hello Ladies - I'm actually from the April 2007 thread. Just wanted to say congrats. Also to those who have experinced a loss my thoughts and prayers are with you.
The first 12 weeks are scary - in my case I had 4 seperate instances of heavy red bleeding, one with clots and I am now 26 weeks pregnant tomorrow . It turned out I had a subchorionic hematoma which is basically a blood clot in the womb. It finally resolved itself at 12 weeks and the bleeding stopped. I'm a first timer so MNet has been brilliant for advice and tips.
Sherapop - I'm under St Georges (Tooting)and I think their antenatal care is brilliant, as you can imagine I visited EPU(am walk in)a number of times and they always scanned and reassurred me straight away. Midwives and Sonographers are nice as well.
I can't really comment too much on Mayday, I actually work in Croydon and went there after a some heavey bleeding at work on a Friday afternoon and was told they wouldn't be abe to scan me until Monday - not what i wanted to hear but i can understand why. Hope the visit this weekend goes well.
Anyway sorry for the long post and good luck and congrats to you all.

jess1996 · 12/01/2007 21:33

Hi all, I am still on this thread. I had a little bleeding earlier in the week, but it has stopped. Scan showed a heartbeat which was reassuring. I'm having a 2nd scan next week to check on the progress of a 2nd sac (probably empty). Hello to all the new people.

I am 6 weeks and 5 days now and beginning to struggle. I have completely lost my appetite and when I do eat I'm so bloated and gassy. I've been extremely tired for the past 2 days also. I'm keeping it a secret so it's a nightmare at work! Hope everyone else is keeping well .

Hi everyone and congrats!
I haven't told anyone yet but I can't keep it a secret anymore...
I don't know the due date yet, due for a scan next week and we'll know. I think I'm about 5 weeks so I'll make myself confortable in this thread shall I?
Had a little bit of bleading earlier and I've got period like pain. I'm trying not to worry. This is my third pregnancy and I REALLY hope everything is fine and is going to be fine.
We have a long journey ahed, good luck to everyone!

SheRaPOP · 12/01/2007 22:26

Great news EdieM! So pleased to hear everything is A-ok.

YvieE thank you so much for the recommendation, it's really good to get reassurance from other mn'ers such as yourself who know from personal experience what these hospitals are like. Thanks!

Jess1996 it's really lovely to hear you're doing well, must be exciting to know for sure that there's a teeny weeny little heart beating inside of you!

Mia84 nice to hear from you again too, don't forget to add yourself to our list (unless of course you'd rather not), which, like our breasts, seems to be ever expanding

Nettee, nice to know we have a midwife in our group! Be prepared for an barrage of questions... (and that's just from me, heheh)

Does anyone mind if I adjust the list a little bit so that we are all by due date again? It just helps me so that I can see your dates & info more easily (please do feel free to change it back!)

EadieMcreadie
Great to hear your news - possible twins! wow
Just reading the symptoms reminded me of last time when the indegestion was terrible and i drank loads of milk.

Another thing which happened was waking up in the night with terrible leg cramps. in case anyone else gets this, the solution is apparently to drink Schweppes tonic water.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and manages a bit of rest!
