Hello Ladies Im back from my scan, I just caught a glimpse of all the pink vibes you were sending, aww thanks unfortuately i will have to wait until im 32weeks to find out if they did any good. The baby was lying in an awkward position and refused to budge, its legs were tightly closed and no matter what we tried the little bugger would not move so i am still none the wiser as to what flavour im having

Apart from that slight problem everything else was fine, all measurements were correct and everything that should be there was so i know im having a healthy baby, at least thats one thing. Im just really disappointed as i was so sure i would find out today. It was almost as if the baby was doing it deliberately. At first i thought i would have to wait until i give birth to find out but it appears i have a low placena so i get another scan on 29th March

DH is happy as he didnt want to know anyway.

I have had some good news today though, ds2 starts Pre-school next Wednesday, i just hope he likes it as due to when he was born he is going to be going there until July 2008 and then starting proper school 3wks before his 5th birthday!! He will be there for 2hrs every afternoon, i wont know myself, it will seem strange having time all to myself again (I cant wait!!)

MKG · 02/01/2007 17:42

Don't worry Pebble every person I know that hasn't been able to tell on the ultrasound had girls. I think boys like to wave their stuff around.

AbbyLou · 02/01/2007 18:00

Oh Pebble, sorry you couldn't find out. At least everything was ok with your lo though. I'm still in a quandry about whether to find out or not. I'm half hoping my scan is like yours and they can't tell me, then the decision is taken out of my hands!!

Well I've done my first ever toilet paper test today - I hope I did it right. I wrapped it round my middle where my waist USED to be, is that ok? Anyway, I was 9 sheets exactly so I don't know how that compares. I'm 21+3.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 18:20

Awh bummer Pebble. Still sending pink vibes.

That's cool MKG. I've never seen the show, but I just looked it up. Do you know who'll be on it yet? The ABC website only gives up to this Friday.

MKG · 02/01/2007 18:23

I don't care who will be on, I just love free stuff!

LupinsBigLump · 02/01/2007 18:30

Pebble sorry you couldnt find out, glad all was well with little one - think I will go mad if this ones not co operating on Monday, at least I will only have to wait till 24 weeks till my next scan

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 18:43

@ MKG. What kind of stuff do they give away then?

MKG · 02/01/2007 18:45

Last week they gave away the phones that have screens on them. They give away cruise tickets, and all kinds of other cool stuff. If they have demos of gadgets or clothes they give that away or gift cards for shopping. They give it to the entire audience too. Not just one person.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 18:48

I'm almost 9 sheets btw, for TPT, so am a bit bigger and wait for it... Put on 10 POUNDS over Christmas!

Oh well. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 18:49

Cool stuff! That's great. Can't wait to hear about it. Will your mum mind your son for you?

JonahB · 02/01/2007 18:51

OMG, well I am just shocked at the behaviour on this thread!! All this talk of porn, dirty nuns and other such filth. I was quite happily daydreaming about banana cakes when you pulled me into the gutter behind you all??

Pebble, sorry you couldn?t find out the flavour ? I know you wanted to find out. Like MKG says, it?s bound to be a girl. Boys like to strut their stuff from a very early age and your little girl is learning quickly the CORRECT way to behave, should anyone try to take a sneaking glance at her privates . She?s probably been listening in on all this filthy talk??

MKG, oooh, a TV star!!! Shame all us Blightie residents can?t sit glued to our TV?s to see if you are on. When is it?

Well, don?t know if any of you lovely ladies get ?practical parenting?. I don?t buy these mags myself (promise) but I got one free with my Blooming Marvellous catalogue. I was idly flicking (procrastinating while I was supposed to be working), when I chanced upon a 2 page article of my friend?s sister. How exciting is that? (Do I need to get out more??)

MKG · 02/01/2007 18:52

She has to work, but she said she would. My friend grew up next door to my mom, so she's leaving her daughter (ds' girlfriend by the way) there, so if my mom can't I'm sure she would watch him for a while.

If not my sil would do it.

MKG · 02/01/2007 18:54

I'm going on Tuesday and it's shot live at 9, but it airs at 11. Look for a pregnant woman in a pink shirt and you'll see me in the audience.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 02/01/2007 19:08

Everybody hide! Left MN open on other laptop and DH is now reading this thread. OOPS!

InTheseShoes · 02/01/2007 19:20

Blimey! I don't post for a while, come back and it's all pornography and nun's fanjos!

Welcome AbbyLou and other newbies, Abby I am a teacher too, and my maternity leave plans are the same as yours exactly! It's nice timing for the Easter holidays. I'm not going back until Jan 2008, I don't care how skint we are! I told dh I could not face going back and having to deal with Christmas in a primary school, so we'd have to manage!

JonahB I was in Caffe Nero today, I thought of you! Glad all went well with your scan.

We had a fairly quiet NYE, dinner with my parents. I did manage to stay up till midnight, and had about two inches of champagne, which went straight to my head! I do think my bump is massive some days and not so much others, depends what I'm wearing. There were a couple of quiet days of baby movement, but back with a vengance thank goodness. It's my scan a week today, which I have to face without dh as he starts a new job next Monday and will be in Reading for the week, which isn't great timing, but what can you do? I bought the baby some babygros and romper suits (2 of each) yesterday in the Debenhams sale - it's really difficult to get neutral clothes, I'm finding. Anyone got any tips?

Can't believe it's back to work tomorrow, I have Loved being off!

aprilmeadow · 02/01/2007 19:21

you ladies!!!! i have been in stitches all day reading your posts. have had major issues in adding posts, think my apple mac knows i should have been working!

Pebble, sorry that you are still in the dark flavour wise, but on the up side at least you get to see bubs again!

FSF, glad your NYE celebrations went well.

I have to tell you that i am SOOOOOO proud of my little boy. He is 20mths and when we went shopping the other day we bought a potty just for him to test out. Since last night he has done THREE wees on it and has asked to do each one! proud mummy emotion

Baby is moving around loads and especially likes to wake up just as i am going to sleep.

TPT measurement - back down to 8 sheets. I weighed myself and have now put on a grand total of 7lbs. Not sure why it isnt more as i have been stuffing my face! Although have done a lot of walking as been shopping loads and try and take ds out for a walk (30mins minimum) each day of weekend.

LucyLouise · 02/01/2007 19:25

LOL at all the filth. Dont worry, you haven't put this newbie off
(As a matter of fact DH and i were just settling down to a night similar to the one LG&T had on NYE. But the fireworks -those outside; not any going on inside - woke DD1 up and put paid to any filth that might have occurred).
Cant believe I just typed that. Oh dear, tmi for a newbie?!

largeginandtonic · 02/01/2007 19:39

April, what a clever boy you have! My ds is 2 on the 27th and shows no sign of weeing on demand!

LOL at 12weeks dh reading posts! Hope we dont terrify him too much, hee, hee

Told dh the horrible truth about putting on a stone, he just laughed! Lets hope he is still laughing in 5 months time when i still look like a biffa with the baby lying in a cot!!!!

This baby is crazy, it jumps round all the time, a few kicks have made me jump

Am feeling the need to sort and tidy the house...someone talk me out of it pleeeeease

Pebble i agree with everyone else, my friend wanted to find out what her baby was at the 20wk scan and it just would not show a thing! When she had the baby it was a girl, she had 2 boys already and has since had another boy. Still sending pink vibes.

largeginandtonic · 02/01/2007 19:43

At Lucylouise and her own night of thwarted passion...

aprilmeadow · 02/01/2007 19:43

Quite surprised really as i didnt think that he would be interested. But he is quite advanced, likes to copy the older children at nursery which is good. Not sure how long the novelty will last for. Not wanting to push it but if he can start telling when he wants to wee i guess thats better than forcing him and having accidents.

12wks - lol at your dh. Mine already thinks we are mad with some of the convos we have.

Gingerbear · 02/01/2007 20:29

aha, a new thread.
Well, thanks for the info about the 28 week rule on flying. DH and I have talked it over and decided that it will be a few days away in UK in Feb, and a summer holiday, possibly late August once the new baby has arrived. I can't face flying at 28 weeks, especially anywhere further than about 2 hrs flying time.

Pebblemum · 02/01/2007 21:02

Thanks for all the encouraging words, if it is a girl she is obviously going to take after her mum, i dont flash my bits either, honest I am still trying not to get my hopes up though, only another 12weeks to wait until i get another chance to try to find out. ive lost count of the number of people who have asked me the sex tonight, it seems this baby is the talk of the town lol

Earlier this evening I had a phone call from my neighbour, she had taken ds1 and her oldest daughter to the doctors (her dd had an appointment and ds1 wanted to tag along for some reason, its usually a struggle to get him there normally). On the way home they were in a bus crash, luckily they werent hurt although my neighbours back problem has flared up a bit but she felt she had to let me know as 9yr olds have a tendancy to exaggerate and she had visions of them both spouting tales of ambulances and blood when in fact there was (luckily) none of those things. I think it shook her up a bit though as she was in charge of the two kids and felt bad. The kids think it was a great adventure

I had planned to take my decs down tonight but i am so tired, i fell asleep earlier for half hour and only realised when i woke up, i havent done that since the first trimester, i expect its a result of all the late nights ive had lately.

Well im now off to watch CSI Miami, its the final tonight so cant miss it, speak to you tomorrow

LupinsBigLump · 02/01/2007 21:09

Gingerbear we have also decided to wait for holiday, probably going to go in September again, depending on if dd has school place or not also it is a bit cheaper then and baby will be no so young iykwim - have a nice uk break in the meantime

This baby is hurting me with its kicking - never had painful kicks before, dd used to headbut me in the ribs (breech) that was uncomfortable but this is outright bloody painful, still quite re-assuring

LupinsBigLump · 02/01/2007 21:10

Peble I am glued to csi as well - go Horatio !!
