MOrning everyone,

Thank god my dh can do everything for himself. Not that he does, but I know he can. Scan on Wednesday, and I can't take the excitement anymore.

SKYTVADDICT · 07/01/2007 12:14

Thats why I'm on MN MKG. So he can learn to do everthing for himself. He has also just took his work clothes from the tumble drier. I am also working of teaching him how the washing machine works.

He is lovely really, and keen to learn. I just find it hard to believe I have left it this long. I will have known him 3 years soon and I think I took over where his mum left off and just did everything for him !

MKG · 07/01/2007 12:23

Tell him to get his ass in gear, and tell him it's to prepare for the baby.

When the baby comes you won't be able to do everything, it's just impossible, so his help around the house would be useful in the first few weeks (it's either that or dirty diapers, or course my dh prefers the diapers)

Also if you need a C-section, it will be a while before you'll be up and running, so he will really need to pitch in and do his share in the house. And if you do need one, milk it for all it's worth. My sil didn't get out of her pajamas for 6 weeks because she milked it.

There, now he's not doing it because you're nagging, he's doing it to be a better husband and father.

scootermum · 07/01/2007 12:30

Hi all,
sorry havent been on for a bit but a pox has arived on our house!(or something equally shakesperian sounding).DD has the chicken pox and I think im getting it as have never had it and feel very fluey which I hear is the first sign.I also hear its supposed to be hellish in grown ups so im certainly looking forward to it.DD asleep now covered in calomine and wearing scratch mits taped on as otherwise she pulls them off..So its a laugh a minute in our gaff!
DH has gone to Sheffield to watch football and then is staying with his Mother tonight as he is working in Sutton tomorrow so I am left alone with my pox ridden baby..boo, feel very sorry for self.

On bright side cant remember if I said but dh has just been named employee of the year!He has won a week in the company Mcvilla in portugal, (all expenses paid), next to Elton Johns thankyou very much, so we are going after baby 2 is born in September! So thats pepped me up a bit anyway!Have just been looking at pictures on intranet and it looks very plush!

Havent had time to catch up on the whole thread though I did see something about some porn style nuns?
Did anyone watch ER last Thurs..Poor Dr Kovach.I was in floods!

Hope all are well, x

Frenchsmallfry · 07/01/2007 13:04

Hey scoot, Oh the pox is a pain, My two had it in the summer, ds started it somehow, then gave it to dd and to my friends two children. Other than the discomfort with itching they were all really well throughout. We were lucky that it was the summer as the dr said that the chlorine in the pool would help keep it clean and ease itching? Ds spent his whole time of it Naked and in and out of the pool, the warm weather and sun helped dry the spots up quick. Hope you don't get it, can be nasty in adults you are right.

TYG (yeah, glad you've got your old name back) I also have a fruit addiction at the moment, can't say the same for veg but am well into pears and clementines. Very strange for me, I am not the best role model when it comes to the five a day rule.

Dh working his way through list, have new lounge furniture built now and installed, just going to have a swap round of the seating area and see if we like it.

Have a good sunday all. xxx

Pebblemum · 07/01/2007 13:58

Afternoon ladies and bumps

Ds2 has yet to catch the pox, even though i have shoved him on anyone whose children get it. Ds1 had it when he was 2 and still has a scar from it above his left eye, it wasnt through him scratching it either he just had a nasty spot that kept bursting and reforming until finally it left a scar

Had a lot of movement from baby last night but then again i was laying in a strange position (half lying half propped against sofa) so it was probably protesting. Ds2 was still awake and when i said the baby was kicking he came up and rubbed my tummy gently. Im still not sure how much he really understands, hes never known anyone to have a baby but im sure he will be ok. When i was expecting ds2 i got ds1 involved in as much as possible, he was allowed to buy the baby a present (the baby got him one too)and he helped choose the cot bedding and some of the clothes, then when ds2 arrived ds1 would help get everything ready for baths and nappy changing so he felt as though he was being a great help and not being pushed out. Im going to do similar this time with ds2 although he will be 3yrs younger than ds1 was so it may be a bit more difficult. I can imagine ds2 choosing cot bedding with tractors on and then me having a girl

MKG · 07/01/2007 14:51

does anyone else find it nearly impossible to get out of bed.

cinnamontam · 07/01/2007 15:10

I'm getting up all the time to go to the loo and having very odd dreams.

I haven't felt the baby move at all yet - 20 weeks today so hope to start feeling something soon. My Mum keeps asking me and it's stressful to keep having to say no. I'm sure everything is fine but it makes you wonder if all is as it should be. 5 month scan is on Monday the 15th at 10am so I guess we will find out then!

Frenchsmallfry · 07/01/2007 15:14

Sorry cinnamontam, can't remember is this your first?

LupinsBigLump · 07/01/2007 15:16

Good luck skytv - lol at training your man, good luck I am still trying to get through to mine after 8 years - at least your is keen to learn

Scoot good to here from you and well done to fell, I love portugal we went in Sept (when i did my pg test) we will defo be going again later in the year the portugese are so good with kids, dont mean to panic you, but have you not had cp before, might be worth checking if its safe for bubs, cant remember what they say, i thought dd had it but cos i had it as a kid it is ok, my friend was pg when her dd got it and she was told to leave home

My dd has been very loving towards my bump, she cuddles and kisses it and tickles it and asks if the baby like her - she is dying for it to get here

Scan tomorrow - quite nervous due to history of news at scans, sure all will be fine but it playing on my mind, quite excited about finding out the sex tho, hope baby is showing off its bits

Good luck to ev1 else with scans tomorrow, think there is a few of us

cinnamontam · 07/01/2007 15:16

Yup - I've got a nice bit of padding on my belly as well and I know that can mean you don't feel it as early as some people. Having said that my cousin is super skinny and with her first who is now 2 years old she didn't feel anything till the 24th week.

Pebblemum · 07/01/2007 15:17

Im having trouble getting out of bed for two reasons, one of which is i feel tired all the time but i also find that when i wake up my left thigh is always tingling and feels horrible. No matter how i sleep this happens so it must be the way the baby is lying but it is so annoying. Im also getting sciatica back and am having to start rolling out of bed. I was hoping that if i was going to suffer with it again that it wouldnt be until later in the pregnancy

Pebblemum · 07/01/2007 15:23

Ive just been reading Nemo's thread about afterpains. Aaagh id forgotten about them. I thought they were bad enough with baby no2 but from what i can gather on there they are even worse with subsequent ones. (DOnt worry first timers, they rarely occur the first time or if they do they are normally mild)Someone on there said that by your thrid/fourth they feel worse than early contractions and if you are really unlucky they are like being in labour again. I think im going to stock the cupboards with lots of pain killers in preperation

Frenchsmallfry · 07/01/2007 15:28

Yeah, cinnamontam, I think it's quite common with firsts. I was 18 weeks with first, 15 weeks with second and 19+3 with this one, I thought that it would be earlier with No.3. All will be fine, I'm sure, ask your midwife to give baby a talking to, worked for me, and she told it to move in French????

Good luck with scans this week ladies, mines not til next monday, bloody French do one at 22weeks, WTF...........!!!!

Frenchsmallfry · 07/01/2007 15:30

Oh pebble don't, I still have nightmares about the after pains with no.2. I thought I was feeling great, turned down the drugs before bed on the first night, Oh my god, I thought I was having a missed twin at 3am that morning.

Will definately be taking all drugs o offer after this one.

ShowOfHands · 07/01/2007 15:51

Cinnamontam, you might have an anterior placenta too which can cushion movements and prevent you from feeling them. Mine's anterior and I can only feel low down movements because the placenta's in the way higher up.

Scootermum- bad news about the pox! Like Lupins I couldn't remember at first if it was a problem if you caught it, but after 20 weeks there's no risk. It's only in early pregnancy that it can cause complications for the baby. Having said that, make sure you don't get too poorly as adults with chicken pox can get a pneumonia-like illness which isn't pleasant. Rest, fluids, all that jazz. Sure you'll be fine!

Roll on Wednesday when I go for another scan to try and find out what this baby is. Thought I would know by now!

Just watched Dirty Dancing, sentimental rubbish I know but I enjoyed it!

Creena · 07/01/2007 15:59

Afternoon everyone!

Hey, Scooter! I was thinking about you the other day and wondering where you were! Glad to see you back but sorry to hear about the chicken pox - I think that once the rash appears, that's when it's least contagious. I think. Nice one on the Portugal holiday too - well done your DH!

I've noticed over the past few days that the old knackeredness seems to be returning. I've been so tired and as soon as I sit down, it's not long before I'm nodding off. Oh well. I'm going in to the office on Tuesday so I'm hoping to have a chat with my manager about my maternity leave and stuff. The earliest I can leave is 4th May (as I'll have completed a year's service by then and will be entitled to maternity leave and pay. I'm trying to work out my holiday entitlement though and whether I can take any of that prior to actually commencing maternity leave so that my last day at work comes a bit sooner, if you see what I mean.

ShowOfHands · 07/01/2007 16:03

Creena, my maternity leave starts on May 4th for the same reason. I have 3 weeks holiday saved though so I think I will be using a little bit of that for moving house (as soon as possible) and then using the rest at the beginning of the maternity leave so I can finish a bit earlier.

I think a lot of us have started feeling a bit tired again. I have a duvet on the sofa, was bringing it down each evening after work so I could snooze for half an hour and then putting it back in the linen cupboard again. I've given up now and I just leave it there. Still, had at least three weeks without fatigue!

Hi ladies

Woke up this morning with the pouring everywhere - NICE! Mum now recons that i should call the mw as it could be a sign of high b/p.

Also seem to be turning into an old lady. If i have been sat/lying down for a period of time when i stand up i get the most uncomfortable pain in my hips and lower back then end up hobbling round house for about half an hour. I also had some really sharp pains when i rolled over and sat up last night felt like someone had pinched me hard from the inside. God i sound like a moaning minnie

Scoot - sorry to hear about the CP, ds is yet to have anything like that seems to miss it everytime it strikes at nursery, although knowing the law of the sod and how it works, he will probably get it around the time that bubs arrives.

How exciting for all of you with scans in the next few days. Fingers crossed that you get to see the flavour.

aprilmeadow · 07/01/2007 16:32

I am starting maternity leave on 26th March (last day is fri 23rd). It is a lot earlier than i would have liked as i remember that i went stir crazy when i was off for 4weeks before ds and then he was a week late. Only reason for leaving so early is that i have to take my years holiday allowance at the beginning as i am not due to return until the following years holiday has kicked in. Suits me, but i think i will go mad esp as ds will be in nursery for 4 days and i am not keeping him out as it costs a small fortune to send him there. So looks like we could have the cleanest house ever (probably 2nd behind LG&T) and i might have transformed myself into a domestic godess.

Pebblemum · 07/01/2007 16:33

Snap with the duvet SOH although ive gone the whole hog and have a sleeping bag tucked behind the sofa Im trying to keep myself active today to try to ward off the sleep, its working so far but for how long im not so sure.

FSF-i think many of us were a bit naive with our 2nd babies. I too refused the painkillers at first, i had no idea what they were giving them to me for and i normally shy away from taking pills for no reason. Luckily my midwife convinced me that taking them was a good idea and i had them before the pains really set in, it was still agony though. I am definately not looking forward to them this time around

aprilmeadow · 07/01/2007 16:43

Just had a brainwave....... Was Jess not moving to Australia? Maybe thats why she has been offline?

Pebblemum · 07/01/2007 17:03

Just looked back on some of our many posts and from what i can gather Jess is moving down under in February, perhaps she has been so busy packing and sorting all those annoying little details that seem to take forever. Either that or she is trying to catch up on all our posts, it takes me ages to read them all when ive only been off MN for a day so that alone will probably keep her busy for daysIm sure she will be back on here soon

aprilmeadow · 07/01/2007 17:10

I did try and search through but figured it might take me the rest of the day to find the answer thanks pebble.

lucyw19 · 07/01/2007 18:27
