Good morning ladies and Happy New Year to you all. I've lost the Christmas name and I'm back to being myself again.

Had a lovely day yesterday. DH took me into town and we went for an impromptu birthday meal, wandered around the shops aimlessly, went for a coffee in Caffe Nero and walked home. I have however discovered that walking makes the bottom of my bump really ache. Anybody else found this? The in-laws came round for a little while and we chatted and drank tea and after they'd left we built a nest out of cushions, duvets, throws and pillows and snuggled up on the sitting room floor to watch DVDs and eat rubbish food. We missed the actual New Year because I had back ache (too much walking), DH was trying to massage it and pack pillows round me when we heard fireworks outside. It was a bit of an 'oh it must be midnight' moment.

So I'm a year older, we'll be moving house and having a baby in the first half of the year and my resolution is to actually do the pregnancy pilates DVD I've been ignoring!

Quite excited about 2007...

Happy New Year!!

I almost missed it because I was falling asleep, but dh wouldn't let me, But I got him back because I passed out on the couch didn't set the alarm, and now he's late for work.

My nipples still hurt like hell.

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 12:55

Happy New Year to you all! I cant believe a whole year has gone by, it feels like 5 minutes ago i was waking up after a crazy night out. Very quiet this year, dh and i were on our own with a bottle of cava!

Im very sad now though, just had to take dh to the train station. Thats it for another 7 weeks, have been crying most of the way home. Other drivers must have thought i was some nutty over emotional woman. Well i am actually...

Glad you had a good one SOH and MKG whats with the sore nipples????

My bump is massive, i have trebled in size in the last 3 weeks. It is definate baby bump now, moving all over the place. Dh could feel it too. I have had weird dead leg sensation if i have been walking too much and a very achy bump like you SOH. Im only 21 weeks, it starts earlier every time i get prg.

I have missed you all so much, am gonna check out the old thread in case i missed anything v important

MKG · 01/01/2007 13:01

LG&T,

Well I have been leaking some clear fluid, which I think is colostrum (I don't really know) and my nipples are so sore and extra sensitive. It feels like they are falling off, which I wish they would. I even started a thread in breast/bottle feeding because I figured that the nipple people could help me out a little. SOH came and told me to use vaseline (which she didn't think existed in the US, I mean I know we used to be a colony, but give us some credit). Meanwhile my dh is so proud of me, he even started to show me how his sisters breast feed. I told him I had 21 more weeks at least of this torture, and at this point was not looking forward to bfing because if it hurts now, how's it going to feel yesterday.

I never knew I could write so much about my nipples.

ShowOfHands · 01/01/2007 13:11

Oh LG&T you poor thing. I can't imagine how you cope with with being apart, but you know what you have done, you do and you will again. In 7 weeks you'll be entering the third trimester and will have so much to share with your lovely DH. I've decided to start a journal this year to record the pregnancy and the first few months of being a Mum. Maybe you could do this and show it to DH when he's back (though how you'd find the time to write it and whether he'd be interested in merely reading on his return, different matters entirely!). Chin up, we're all here for you.

Me and the non-colonised MKG are starting the sore nipple brigade. At first I described it as like a wasp chewing on them, but it's more like a wasp with fiery breath chewing on them. It's agony and I wasn't kidding when I said I walk round clutching them and moaning. For the record, I didn't presume you don't have Vaseline in the US, I didn't know if Vaseline was a brand-name specific to the UK. Although you don't have marmite or wine gums over there so I wouldn't put it past you not to have other essentials either.

Where is jess? And mummymelling? I hope they're both just far too busy to worry about us!

LG&T

I Feel for you. It's hard when they go away. It must be so hard when they come for a few weeks, and leave for a few weeks. You always have us.

MKG · 01/01/2007 13:16

Now SOH are your leaking fluid too, or are your nipples just sore? (Please let you be leaking so I'm not the freak in the May thread)

ShowOfHands · 01/01/2007 13:21

Only when I squeeze them!

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 01/01/2007 13:22

Not that I'm in the habit of squeezing my nipples you see.

Oh God. Everybody avoid the walks around moaning, clutching and squeezing nipples woman.

MKG · 01/01/2007 13:25

SOH,

I told my mom about you last night. We had a good laugh thinking about the crazy lady that moans and tweeks herself. She doesn't understand message boards, but she thinks you're funny.

Stuff comes out of mine when I squeeze them too but I can't help but squeeze them because the hurt so much, maybe I'll chop them up.

ShowOfHands · 01/01/2007 13:29

SOH, providing hilarity services here and across the pond. Pleased to be of amusement to you and your mother MKG!

It's very hard to explain to people with normal nipples exactly how painful it is. In fact I think if you held a lighter to your nipples for a very prolonged period you might start to understand how bloody sore they are. There's another poster on here- will endeavour to find out who- who had the same thing in pregnancy and had it diagnosed as an actual condition with a proper name. Something to do with circulation... I'll go and search...

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 01/01/2007 13:35

here

and

here

Reynauds Syndrome, to do with circulation and it's WigWamBam that I've see on here talking about it.

MKG · 01/01/2007 13:36

The weird thing is, is that this didn't happen with my first pregnancy.

Now I definitely think this bean is a girl.

And you're right, no one understands. I tell everyone I know, because all must know the state of my nipples, and they all make me feel like a freak.

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 13:40

Ah ha! Just read the other thread, im soooo behind!

I too get the leaky nipples, it usually starts around 25 weeks, not enough to need a breast pad but it leaves a mark in my bra and can drip when i get out of the shower/bath. Mine dont hurt as such but are sooo sensitive. This is entirely new for me in prg (normally they just hurt and i cant bear anything near them) but this time it's bloody brilliant, im sure i could actually orgasm (sorry TMI) just from them alone...

Hehe that cheered me up a bit...

ShowOfHands · 01/01/2007 13:50

Crikey! Orgasms and nipples and not yet 2pm... if DH even looked at my nipples I'd rip his off.

Have to say I have rediscovered my libido in the last week, but the trying to get in a comfortable position bit... my God... it's like some kind of wildlife documentary:

"And here we see the obese rhino trying to roll out of the riverbed..."

I'll say it again, pregnancy is such a magical time.

MKG · 01/01/2007 13:54

YOu know what feels totally orgasmic to me.

I have really bad eczema from this pregnancy, and it has totally flared on my hands, arms and legs. Well when I scratch my legs, and only my legs, I am in total ecstasy. It feels so good.

ShowOfHands · 01/01/2007 13:56

Oh yes MKG, now you're talking. I have eczema and I've nicked some of my mother's knitting needles for back-scratching sessions.

Pure bliss.

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 13:57

LOL at hippos in the wild!!!!

It is a challenge, dh suggested getting a book on positions in prg. I said im not sure they do one of those.... Am pretty lucky as my libido didnt really drop. Dh was away (shock) when i felt really yuk so that was a good thing. Would love to tell you how dh and i spent New Year, i may email you as it is toooooo shocking for those faint hearted amongst us.......

MKG · 01/01/2007 13:58

YOu know I wake up in the middle of the night scratching myself. It hurts so much, but it feels so good.

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 13:59

Nitting needles!!!!!!

MKG · 01/01/2007 14:00

LG&T,

I'm jealous, I haven't had sex since conceiving.

When they thought I had a hemorrhage the doctor told me no sex, and and I just haven't been that into it since.

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 14:05

ohmigod......poor you MKG! I remember being too paranoid to have sex when i was prg with dd as the twins were born at 29 weeks. I was convinced it would mean she'd be early too. She hung in there till the day before her due date! With the other 2 prg's i was ok and they were 10 days and 14 days late, so much for that theory.

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 14:07

Im going to have lunch now, i so wish i had a KK's near me,,, >

ShowOfHands · 01/01/2007 14:09

LG&T, do you have my email address?!?!?!

MKG- I wasn't interested at all until last week, bang on 20wks (was also advised against it in the first trimester due to bleed/erosion). I think it's all the dreams of Daniel Craig that kick-started things again...aherm... As for the eczema, when I was little I had to wear mittens in bed to stop myself scratching. Might have to do the same as I keep making my arms bleed in my sleep. Bump's started to itch just recently too. Pah!

LG&T don't look so shocked, did the stork bring those children of yours!

MKG · 01/01/2007 14:09

You know, I have no sex drive anyway, do it's all good, I'm just surprised at dh. Actually he didn't real want anything when I was pg with ds. So I think pregnancy freaks him out a little. Also my nipples hurt too much and can't handle any more stimulation.
