This one seems to be the winner, and I can't seem to come up with anything more inventive, sorry!

Oh, and the 17m thing is a spoof, btw, lots of links to it saying it was a p-take. Phew!

Lizzzombie · 11/01/2007 16:16

I'm telling you, it will be me, I will be in the Guinness Book of World records with the longest ever pregnancy recorded. I wonder if I will get a prize?!

amyclaire - they have fishing nets to fish out the poo from the birthing pools! Plus, how many babies on average are delivered at your birthing center. You have just as much right to use it as the next person. At Brighton, about 14 babies are born every 24 hours, they only have one birthing pool, but the MW was like if you want to use it, they will try and let you. It takes 20 mins to clean and re fill, and if someone is wallowing in it to allievate pains, but you are ready to deliver, you'll get priority. This is the one time in your life you are allowed to be pushy, assertive and rude, and demand exactly what you want.

wilkie - hope all is ok, how much dairy milk did you eat for your show to happen? I am scoffing it like mad but still nothing is coming out of me! x

I have eaten three rows of a gigantic bar!!!!

TENS is fab!!! Don't know how good it will be at the later stages but bloody fantastic at the moment - even with all the pain at the front (like really really severe period pains).

Hattie2 · 11/01/2007 16:30

If only I had some dairy milk in the house - do you think dark choc works the same? .

Have had a show since sweep this morning but no contractions yet .....

Good luck wilkie!

Lizzzombie · 11/01/2007 16:34

I am jealous!
If I'd had a sweep this morning then I might have been showing this afternoon too. Grr. I am a big old wuss! (& couldnt be arsed getting the razor out to give my garden a mow!)

kaylasmum · 11/01/2007 17:42

Hi,
Just thought i'd let you all know that i had my little boy 2 weeks early on Tuesday 9th at 9.13am. We've called him Josh, he weighs 6lbs 11oz and is absolutely gorgeous!

He is my 5th child and as i'm 40 now he will definately be my last. My labour went really well and i was home the same day, the whole experience was amazing. He's feeding well and seems very contented. Good luck to everyone else still waiting to welcome their lo's into the world.

Tracey.

TrinityRhino · 11/01/2007 17:44

oooo congrats kayla

sounds like your managing very well, enjoy your little bundle

oh and Im not jealous at all

RGee · 11/01/2007 17:46

Wilkie & Galum - v exciting, good luck!!!! Wilkie, I found the TENS great for the early stages, but bizarrely all of a sudden after a few hours I got really f**ked off with it and demanded immediate removal. Most strange. It did its job though.

Zoe & AmyClaire - I (almost) had a water birth and it was brilliant! Was in the pool for about an hour, from 5 - 9.5 cms, and was really relaxed (well, as relaxed as you can be), warm and nice low lighting, with dh and gas & air for company. Sadly, that came to an abrupt halt when they manually broke my waters and Pippa's toes poked out......

ZoeNbump · 11/01/2007 17:46

ive got to have a sweep on the 19th if i go overdue! does it hurt having the sweep! im new 2 all of this so dont really know what 2 expect at all

LadyTophamHatt · 11/01/2007 17:52

I've had 2 sweeps now and boths did bugger all.
Well the first made me loose abit of...errr....stuff but nothing labour related.

Hattie2 · 11/01/2007 18:11

ZoeNbump - Sweep didn't hurt at all, a bit uncomfortable as they have to reach 'all the way' up but not painful.

Like LTH it hasn't produced anything except 'stuff' as yet .....

wilkie50 · 11/01/2007 18:47

Hi. Contractions still anywhere from 4-7 mins apart. You ladies that have been through this before, can this go on for quite a long time before they get close together?? I know it's stupid but I thought it would be a few hours like this then much closer together. Been about 4 hours so far.

xx

lulumama · 11/01/2007 18:49

wilkie..you need to start an 'am i in labour' thread

will alert marslady !

Just popped on to see how you all are, all going really well here Hattie now feeding every 4 hours with only one night feed (DH feeds her at 10pm as Im normallyin bed by 9!!! I do the 2am feed and as Ellie is normally up around 6.15-6.30 Hattie normally waking around then so its working well)She really is the most chilled baby hardly cries and seems so content starting to have small wakeful periods of up to an hour where she just lays and looks around. Good luck Galmum hope its going well and good luck for anyone due sweeps/inductions/sections etc updated the list with UD and kaylasmum whilst I was here

oops sorry didnt realise list had been updated taken me that long to do it!

JoJo30 · 11/01/2007 19:51

Hello ladies, just to let you know that Thomas arrived in the early hours of Monday morning weighing 7lb 6.5oz. Started off in the pool at 8pm Sunday, which was fab, then ended up in theatre because he couldn't turn his head. Luckily no c-section, but managed to break the ventouse (they dragged me half way down the bed!) before he was delivered using forceps. Anyway, all is well and he is fantastic, definitely the best thing that's ever happened to me!

annieapple7 · 11/01/2007 20:45

How exciting Wilkie - hope everything goes well.

Amyclaire, I was put off a water birth after being told about all the poo floating in it that would have to be scooped out with a sieve - eeurgh!

Had my AN appt today head 1/5 engaged which is not much to get excited about. Got a feeling I will be the last one on this thread talking to myself...

Where has everyone got their nursing bras from? I tried my old ones on today (which have seen two babies) and I thought maybe I should splash out on new ones. The little maternity shop I went to last time has closed so it is a choice of M&S, Mothercare or online I suppose. Any top tips?

annieapple7 · 11/01/2007 20:46

I am planning on a home birth - I just have to get a shower curtain to cover the bed with!
