This one seems to be the winner, and I can't seem to come up with anything more inventive, sorry!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lizzzombie · 11/01/2007 13:09

Ok, I have been very assertive and refused a sweep and have made a point of saying I thought my dates are wrong. So, MW has booked me an induction/sweep/whatever on Thursday 18th at 6pm (!) That would mean I was 40 + 11 according to my scan date or 40 +2 according to my own calculations.
Really hoping he will arrive in his own time, thought I would give birth on the waddle up to the surgery this morning the effort it took to get up there!
Amyclaire- I'm due to give birth at Brighton (fingers crossed etc - beds can sometimes be scarce!) if not then they can send me to Worthing! I really don't want that to happen! Imagine driving along for half an hour with mega contractions etc. No thanks.
Come on baby please appear soon! x

im due this Sunday and no sign of the little one yet! this is my 1st bub so not really sure what 2 be looking out 4??? getting increasingly annoyed with people calling all the time asking is anything has happened yet, like i wouldnt tell them if it had lol!! got this terrible feeling that im going to go over due knowing my luck, i need my body and identity back now fed up with being the pregnant one! im due to have a sweep on the 19th if i havent popped by then, but not sure if to have this or not?? have been told that it can hurt alot etc! am extremely nervous now about going into labour though mainly through the fear of the unknown i guess regarding contractions im abit confused what kind of pain is a contraction ( may sound like a stupid question)just panicking i think xx

wilkie50 · 11/01/2007 13:46

Howdy. Well, spent the morning at the hospital as had had severe 'wetness' (sorry if TMI) all night and felt dribbly this morning from my lady. They wanted to check if it was my waters trickling but alas not. They left me on the bloody fetal monitoring thing for an hour!! I think they forgot me...

The only thing they could see when they did the speculum thing was that I still have some thrush left (great) and she couldn't see my cervix as it was posterior (don't understand what this means - anyone??).

I feel really down with all the twinges and everything - I know I am still 10 days from my due date but even now, I am getting really bad period aches and back ache but no signs of anything imminent. I just am so desperate to hold my LO, it is such a strong urge and there is f*ck all I can do about it.

Sorry to be a whinge-bag - just ignore me, I'll get over it.

Am so excited for Galmum - purhlease keep us updated. xxxxxx

wilkie50 · 11/01/2007 13:48

Oh, giving birth in Lincoln County (which has just reopened two wards that were infected with a superbug - great!!)

LadyTophamHatt · 11/01/2007 13:57

wilkie, my cervix was described as still posterior when I was in labour with Ds3. The MW said at 4am "ohh its's still posterior, it'll be hours yet, I doubt we'll see this baby before lunchtime"

He was born 2 hrs later.

Basically, IIRC the cervix can be in 3 positions. If you hold 3 fingers up and spread them apart pointing downwards you'll understand easier what I'm trying to explain.

Ok the 1st finger is the cervix in the front postition (not sure of the technical term)
The 2nd finger is the cervix directly facing the exit.
The 3rd finger is the cervix in the posterior postion, sort of behind the exit.

My MW said a cervix in the posterior position has the longest journey to take but from personal experinece that means bugger all.

Hope that makes sense and you've enjoyed todays Biology lesson.

Tomorrows lesson will be on the reproductive system of a snail.

Lizzzombie · 11/01/2007 13:58

willkie - don't you dare give birth before me! Keep your legs crossed please! x

LadyTophamHatt · 11/01/2007 14:01

Oh, and I'm having the baby in Eastbourne. Not sure what the hospital is called though....but I know where it is which I suppose is quite useful.

Originally a homebirth but thats all been scrapped.

TrinityRhino · 11/01/2007 14:04

I'm still 23 days from my due date< whinge> ,snivel>
I hurt, I have indegedtion, constantly, I WANNA SEE MY BABY and I walk like an elephant

TrinityRhino · 11/01/2007 14:05

.....and I seem to have lost the ability to type properly

2Happy · 11/01/2007 14:06

Because I am bored, and chronically sleep deprived, I have looked up snails on Wikipedia. Did you know they are hermaphrodites? Also, they lay their eggs and leave them for 2 - 4 weeks until they hatch.

Due Jan '07 part 8: Next time I'm coming back as a snail!!!

Lizzzombie · 11/01/2007 14:37

2 Happy - you made me laugh so much wee nearly came out!
Do it again and maybe my baby will appear! x

wilkie50 · 11/01/2007 14:49

Ah girls, you make me smile Have come out of my mardy now.

LTH - thank you for the explanation, I just didn't know what she meant. I felt really dejected - I thought she was going to say I was a couple of cm dilated with all the contractions and twinges I've been having.

I have just taken some paracetamol cos am getting really nasty period pains and back ache. Not getting excited in the slightest. DH has just walked in with a HUGE bar of Dairy Milk!!

So come on then, are we going to make a decision on the next thread title???

xxxxx

becks5109 · 11/01/2007 14:59

am with you all on the fed up front - a week till i'm due and had convinced myself as it is my 2nd it would have come by now but alas nothing! Had a scan 2 weeks ago and they said then it was already 8 pounds so god knows how big it must be by now and what state my lady will be in afterwards!

I'm having a home birth - well thats the plan! Now don't want baby to come until next week as DD1 is at home with me tomorrow and at the weekend so it would be more convenient if it came early next week! Also don't want to have it at the weekend as MIL will rush up and annoy me!

LadyTophamHatt · 11/01/2007 15:20

I had no idea what the Mw meant when she said it to me either wilkie, concidering I was having my 3rd baby at the time you'd think I would have had an idea. I'd never even heard of it!!

It was the MW this time who explained it to me.

Funnily enough, when the MW tried to do a sweep yesterday I said to her "What you need to say now is that I'm 6cm dilated...."

She didn't say it though....

inconciderate bitch!

ZoeNbump · 11/01/2007 15:24

im thinking of having a water birth at the hospital as they have great water birth rooms at my hospital in Devon. Any pros or cons on this anyone could give me??? or has anyone had a water birth b4? xx

Lizzzombie · 11/01/2007 15:45

Did you know the longest recorded gestation period for a human pregnancy was 17 months!?
This cannot be true.
Am thinking of seeing if I can last longer than that. Opinions please!

LadyTophamHatt · 11/01/2007 15:52

Lizzz!!

I had an uncontrollable urge to shout "Fuck Off" at the screen after reading that.

Noooo...that can't be true...can it??

wilkie50 · 11/01/2007 15:54

Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck - just had a show and am having painful contractions ever 6 minutes for the past hour.

TENS is strapped on!!! Will keep you updated

2Happy · 11/01/2007 15:55

"One of the residents to deliver a healthy baby boy last year was Dr. August. Her pregnancy is also of note because it was the longest recorded human gestation on record. Dr. August was pregnant for a staggering 17 months 11 days. This will be noted in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records."
(found via google)
Still don't believe it though!

(nor do I believe the fact that my grandmother has just phoned me to say she saw 4 magpies yesterday, therefore I am going to have a boy. Lets face it, she only rang to see if I'd had it yet like she wouldn't already know )

2Happy · 11/01/2007 15:56

Oooh, Wilkie! You'd better keep us posted Come on, live MN birth, just the thing to alleviate the boredom

wilkie50 · 11/01/2007 15:57

I'm scared and excited at the same time....

So much for not telling anyone - HAD to ring mum!

LadyTophamHatt · 11/01/2007 15:57

and...now I really want to shout fuck off at the screen.

Thats not fair

Good luck, wilkie
