This one seems to be the winner, and I can't seem to come up with anything more inventive, sorry!

Happy new year to everyone!!Had so much to moan about decided not to say anything as it would be long and depressing! All i will say is i seem to be the only person desperate to keep my baby in as long as possible(we have no heating or hot water since xmas day)Good luck to all of you who want them out sex worked every time with the other three if you have the energy,i will be avoiding it and keeping my legs crossed!

coffeebaubles · 01/01/2007 15:43

Happy New Year Everybody and thanks for everyones kind wishes. Finally discharged from hospital on Saturday with a clean bill of health and no follow up required so its back to normality in our house with our new little boy .

Not managed to catch up with all the news but congrats to all the other new mums, and to everyone else it wont be that long before its your turn. I kind of miss that feeling of baby moving around in my tummy, but after the last week I know I'm too old and too nervous to ever, EVER, go through it again !! On the plus side all the worry and stress and sitting around in a hospital for 7 days reading and doing pelvic floor exercises has meant that I'm back in my jeans - Yippee !! took me 6 weeks first time.

Look forward to hearing about the next new arrivals.

PS To add to the tear/cut debate. Tore first time and had 3 stitches. Was adamant would never want stitches again unless absolutely necessary as they were agony and I probably didnt really need them. No 2 and 3 didnt need anything and back to normal much quicker. Probably due to fact that I am a saggy old thing down there now !!!

freedomfighter · 01/01/2007 16:57

happy new year
got a quick question, am 38 weeks (my first baby) and head still not engaged, been getting worried as people have been saying (and ive been reading on internet) that thats not usual and that if it doesnt engage i'll need a caesarian...do you need to have head engaged before go into labour?

Galmum · 01/01/2007 17:08

Have posted very long question about my next growth scan which I'm thinking of delaying. If you can help - it's in the childbirth bit!

Home at last coffeebaubles - great news!

Not sure Freedom Fighter about the engagement thing - have attached a link. I do think it sounds a bit of a massive leap to think that because the baby is not engaged now at 38 weeks, that it won't engage in the next few weeks and thus c-section. Try not to listen to doom and gloom merchants - it's not helpful. There's lots of time and every baby is different. You could try sitting on a birthing ball, or chair the wrong way round cowboy style to help the baby get in a good position. There should be some info on that on the net. Someone more knowlegeable should come along soon.

Hattie2 · 01/01/2007 19:26

FF - my first one didn't engage until 39 and a half weeks, and she was only 5 days late in the end. Try not to worry yet.

Can't beleive I've just said 'only 5 days late'! I'm due on Friday and every day after that is going to feel like an age!

Excellent news coffee - about coming home and the jeans, but mainly coming home

Happy new year everyone.

bobbynog · 01/01/2007 19:42

I know i'm a bit late, but can i join?
Baby is due 30th Jan - i didn't post earlier as had miscarriage last year so have not wanted to tempt fate!

elliepmummy · 01/01/2007 19:49

welcome bobbynog never to late to join i'll get you added to the list soon. Do you know if you are having or boy or a girl or is is a surprise?

bobbynog · 01/01/2007 19:50

A surprise. DD (3) has picked names - Dora for a girl, and Raspberry for a boy!

2HappyNewYear · 01/01/2007 20:00

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a nice night if you were doing anything. The weather here was terrible, I was tucked up in bed before the bells, but had a crap night's sleep anyway. Had more really uncomfortable BHs. Really sad though, I was chatting with my mum about her labours - she said that in each successive pg, her BHs got stronger and more uncomfortable and she had loads of times where she thought she was going into labour (a bit like afterpains are supposed to get worse each time too). But she still went overdue with all three of us and was induced for my two dsis's (used cod liver oil to get me out, not recommended!). So all these really uncomforatble BHs that are much worse this pg than the last one... mean bugger all . May as well resign myself to going hideously overdue again. FWIW, Jodie, my mum's 3rd delivery (me!) was harder than her second, but only because I was much bigger than dsis (still am, ) - she still popped me out in a few hours on gas & air and no stitches.
CB - nice to hear from you, but not nice to hear you're already back in your jeans
el - no heating or hot water, brrrr, hope you can get it sorted soon. Maybe go into hospital saying you think you're in labour, oh and while I'm here can I use your facilities
bobbynog - welcome, can understand you not wanting to join earlier, really happy for you that you can join now
FF - I don't think it's great if your waters break without the head having engaged, have you spoken with your mw?

Daisypops · 01/01/2007 22:08

Happy new year ladies. Not long for us all now

LTH-LMAO at your 'thank fuck' post. Your posts always make me laugh

Is anyone having trouble walking? I can't put any weight on my right leg, walking is agony. Sometimes I think MW's are a bit blase about stuff. Is it likely to be a trapped nerve or the position of LO? I heard soemthing about SPD, that you can't put your weight on one leg is it likely to be this. Nearly resorted to going up the stairs on my bub yesterday!

Everyones back at work tomorrow a day in watching tv for me-bliss!

wilkie50 · 01/01/2007 22:46

Hello all and happy new year. Just about to go to bed but thought I would log on to see if anyone has popped over New Year.

Had loads of painful contractions on Sat night from 3am to 6am at 10 minutes apart but woke up at 9am and they had stopped. Grr!!

Uneventful New Year at mum and dad's although was hows this for ironic???? - considering I didn't drink any bloody wine, I was washing up the wine glasses at 6pm tonight, stuck my hand in one to clean in, the f*cking thing shattered and slit my hand quite deep so ended up in A&E for 1 1/2 hrs where they glued the slit and have bandaged it. Bloody typical.

Welcome Bobbynog - I too had a miscarriage last year so left it late to join this thread but it is a lovely group.

Night night (did I mention I have started mat leave so first official day off tomoz )

Lizzzombie · 02/01/2007 08:37

Happy New Year everyone!
I am very pleased with myself as I actually managed to glam myself up and drag my fat arse out of the flat to a New Years Eve do. Ok, so we left at 10.30pm, there is only so much lemonade a girl can handle, but I reckoned NYE 2007/8 will be hard to get out on!

I have imposed a 2 drink only rule on my DP. He seems to be having problems counting, and understanding that this does not mean 2 pints in the pub and then 2 glasses of wine in front of the tv. I am determined to have him drive me sober to the hospital when this baby decides to arrive. Or maybe its just I am insanely jealous now, and fed up that he never gave up drinking to support me!

Weird question - does anyone else have skin tags? I seem to have acculumlated loads recently and they are not attractive.

wilkie50 · 02/01/2007 09:11

Lizzzz - SOOOOOOO glad someone else has got skin tags. WTF is all of that about? Got loads of tiny ones around my armpits?????? They feel horrible, hoping they will go after LO pops out. Anyone shed any light??

(Lizz - v impressed you went out on NYE - at 12.01am after kissing everyone and wishing happy new year I was STRAIGHT to bed!!)

Now I am on mat leave I will be on here every bloody day - be warned!

Lizzzombie · 02/01/2007 11:02

Hi wilkie!
Good, I am glad of the company...am bored out of my brain at home, but dont have the energy to actually do anything apart from sit in front of the computer and order more baby stuff!

I have the skin tag things all round my arm pits too, and under my boobs, and a couple on my chest. They are gross. I think the doctor can zap them off with a laser if he has one.

as if we didnt have enough to concern us!

Lizzzombie · 02/01/2007 11:04

ergh!

Skin tags. Some pregnant women develop tiny polyps, called skin tags, in areas where skin rubs on clothing or skin rubs together. Commonly found under the arms, between neck folds, or under bra lines on the chest, skin tags are caused by hyperactive growth of a superficial layer of skin. They disappear a few months following delivery, but can be easily excised if they bother you.

wilkie50 · 02/01/2007 11:07

Ha ha - glad someone else feels the same as me. I mean, I am so pleased not to be at work but equally bored - want LO to come out to occupy me

My skin tags are mainly round my arm pits and a few in between my boobs - how bizarre????

If you read my other message, I slit my hand open last night on a wine glass and this morning it won't stop bleeding - the surgical glue did not work methinks!!!!!

How's the heartburn?

wilkie50 · 02/01/2007 11:09

Cross messaged you there Dr Lizzz but thank you for the clarification on skin tage ha ha

MerlinsBeard · 02/01/2007 11:18

Invading to see how it went at consultants for Nemo and noticed LTH had an appt too.

Not long now tillu hold your precious bundles inyour arms. Soooo much easier to carry than in your bellies

Congrats to all who have had their babies already, and will be looking out in birth announcements for names i recognise form the first thread. Keep stoking those bumps and best wishes xxx

MerlinsBeard · 02/01/2007 11:18

stroking not stoking lolol

Lizzzombie · 02/01/2007 11:58

If your hand is still bleeding I would definately get it looked at again. Does your Drs have a sit and wait appointment system for emergencies? Or sometimes, local chemists are good at bandaging people up. (in my experience!)

Ok, I have a moral dilemma.
A mate of my DP's gave us lots of old baby stuff they dont need anymore. But...its all rubbish. (baby bouncer that doesnt bounce, moses basket with no stand and needs new mattress anyway so not worth using as is all musty and a ton of clothes which I wouldnt even give to a charity shop they are so well worn) It is taking up valuable storage space.
Should I:
a. give it back to them and look like a total ungrateful bitch
b. take it to the charity shop and suffer the consequences when they ask for it back
c. put up with it?
what do you think?!

Daisypops · 02/01/2007 12:00

Ahhh, skin tags, I've got one under my armpit, never thought it could be related to pregnancy. I have to becarefl not to shave it off

I too will be here a lot. Took christmas decorations down yesterday and did a big clean up so I can just relax and do nothing now!

Is anyone trying rasperry leaf tea? Does it work?

wilkie50 · 02/01/2007 12:13

Daisypops - shaving a skin tag off - now there's an idea mine are actually quite flat but raised rather than round blobs of skin that stand up quite high. They feel horrible though!!!

Lizzz - DH has had a good suggestions of taping my index finger and second finger together, the slit runs across my first knuckle of my right hand so every time the finger bends it opens again (bleurgh). I just want it to be healed before LO arrives as it is a long deep cut.

As for your dilemma, I would give it back to them and say that your mum/sister/brother/friends have actually bought you everything you need so although you are really really grateful for the offer of everything, you now don't need it as you have it new! (this could be a problem if you don't have it new, they come round for a cuppa and see that you are talking b*llcks). However, it is your baby and you shouldn't have to put up with crap that you don't want. I have turned down quite a lot of stuff from friends saying that no offence but I want to buy new stuff that I can keep for LO number 2.

xx
